Hands Free Bluetooth on my Iphone Stinks - Lots of Questions

I'm not new to iPhones... I've had 3 now.  I just got the 6.
I upgraded because I thought the fingerprint recognition would provide a better hands free experience in my car.  I have a Ford Fusion with Sync.
First thing which is probably more of a comment that hopefully someone will have a suggestion for...  I can't believe that the only option the iPhone gives you with the fingerprint recognition is to require it IMMEDIATELY...  Why is that option even in there if it only has one option to pick from?  So now, when someone texts me, I hold down the main button and use my fingerprint to get in, then tell Siri to text them back.  I don't want my screen on all the time, so I hit the button to turn it off.  They text me again a minute later and I have to do the fingerprint again.  I really wish I could say to not require a fingerprint for 15 minutes or half an hour.  Why don't they?  They let you set that time if you are using a passcode.  It's ridiculous.  It shouldn't even be in the menu system if you click immediately and it's the only option in there.
So...  I just feel like this fingerprint feature is actually making texting in my car harder than it already was.  At least before I had it set to not bug me for a password for 15 minutes...  So if I was in a convo, I could just hold down the siri button and communicate back and forth while driving.  It already stinks that Sync and iPhones don't work for texting together.  From what I hear an Android would be WAY safer when driving.  Especially the ones with the quad processor that are constantly listening for your commands.  Then there's no buttons to push at all, and if it knows it's in a safe environment like your car's bluetooth, it doesn't even bother with passwords...
What's the suggested way to do this?  Turn off passwords every single time I get in my car?  I really don't want to have to touch my thumb to the thing with every single message I send.  I really don't want to keep the screen on while driving.  It's just not a very safe phone considering where technology is.  What do you guys do?  And am I missing something?  I am not going to get Apple Car Play when my car came with built in bluetooth and a cool system already, with steering wheel controls etc...  And to any the people that might think replying "You shouldn't be texting in your car anyway" or "Just wait until you get to your destination..."  That's not helping.    It's not unsafe if you can do it while keeping your eyes on the road...  Which is what I'm aiming for.
Suggestions??  Thanks!!!!

I had this problem and what I did was: read the user manual. I was actually using the wrong buttons to put the Tri-BC200 on pairing mode. I also boot my I phone. Everything worked OK. Regards.

  • How do I make a hands free call with the iphone 4s?

How do I make a hands free call with the iphone 4s?  I have a bluetooth car device and when I try to talk through it (as I did with my old phone) to call someone it does not work.  so far only hte last person called is redialed.

That is a carrier-based service. So first you have to make sure your service contract includes that feature.
It usually also includes Call Hold. So you call the first party, put them on hold, call the second, then reactivate the first. But only if your carrier allows you to.

    mono 8 bit 8k is 64kbps, yes. 8 bits times 8,000 = 64,000 = 64k bits/sec.
And yes I think that's a typo - there's no such thing as 'Mone' that I've ever heard of...
But you might want to check to find out if this is a mu-law non-linear format, possibly - there are several ways that 8 bit 8k wav files can be encoded, and typically phone systems don't use linear ones. If you have a log-in to Zultys' user-base system they have an FAQ there, I believe - the answer might be in that, and it won't cost $500.

  • IPhone and Mercedes Benz hands-free bluetooth

    Greetings,
Have you tried to connect your iPhone to Mercedes Benz bluetooth-based hands free system?
Can you make/receive calls? Can you sync your address book?
    Any information is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I have the MB Multi Handset Interface with the latest Bluetooth "puck". Pairs fine, voice quality decent.
One nice bonus is how fast the contact directory loads now. With a V600 directly in the cradle(no BT) it could take up to five minutes to load about 30 contacts. With the iPhone usings BT it loads four times as many contacts in just seconds.
As far as reconnecting when getting back in the car, mine always reconnects and at least loads the recents, but not always the directory, unless the iPhone is fully on.
Has anyone found a good way to check voicemail within this setup? I haven't fugured out how to connect to vmail via the MB controls. Or, if I connect using the iPhone directly, I cannot get the audio to play through the MB.
Also, have you noticed what happens when you try the old speed dial function through the MB keypad?

  • HT204387 Several members of my family, peers at the office and friends have downloaded the new iOS. 7operating system and now our iPhones no loner will connect to many of our Bluetooh devices. Including the hands free Bluetooth systems in our vehicles.  I

Several members of my family and friends are having problems mwith new iOS .7.02 operating system. After downloading new iOS our phones will not connect to our Bluetooth Handsfree phone systems in our vehicles. 2009 Mazda CX9 and 2010 Mazda CX7. Is this a known problem and Is there a fix coming soon?

the change of iOS makes the iphones look like a different device to slave device ,in some cases ..

  • I have a 2011 Kia Sorento with hands free bluetooth.  I can select where the music can be played, to the Sorento, but the music does not come through the bluetooth speakers in the Sorento.  Am I missing an app for that?  What am I doing wrong?

I have trying to connect my iTunes music through my bluetooth in my Kia Sorento.  I have paired the phone with the bluetooth, but now the phone will not even connect, let along having the music play through.  Do I need a special app for that?  Was something dropped or lost from my iPhone to where no connection, phone or music, will play through the bluetooth to the speakers in the car?

It should work just fine. Try deleting the pairing in the car and on the phone, then re-pair them. It works fine in my 2011 Optima (with the non-nav system) after upgrading to iOS 5.
Make sure there is no other bluetooth connection active when you start the car to connect to it (like a headset).

  • Does the new iPad provide a hands free bluetooth headset connectivity?

It's my understanding that such connectivity was available in the iPad2, but I have seen nothing to indicate that it is available in the new iPad.

  • Is there a way to disable stereo bluetooth in OS3 but keep Hands Free?

    Hi All,
I've been a huge fan of my 3G since purchasing it last September and have adored it even more since buying my 2009 Acura TSX. The car and phone seemed built for eachother and have worked seamlessly together since I bought the car in November. Unfortunately, while I also enjoy many of the OS3 upgrades, the OS has made my in-car experience very challenging.
The TSX has a built-in iPod connector that allows the stereo system to see and control most of the iPod functions (playlists, artists, albums, songs, etc.). The car also supports Hands-free Bluetooth for the phone functions simultaneously. Before the OS3 upgrade, all I had to do was simply plug the iPod connector into the phone, set the stereo to iPod and I was set. Since the OS3 upgrade, it seems that as soon as the phone detects the presence of ANY bluetooth network (presuming my Hands Free), it defaults the audio output to stereo bluetooth rather than the iPod connector. This forces me to have to go into the phone, navigate to the iPod app, select the audio output icon and then select the connector to get the audio to come through the stereo. One day when I own a car stereo that supports stereo bluetooth, I'll be thrilled to know this feature is available, however, presently, I'm dying for the ability to just turn this feature off (like WiFi, except that I need the Hands Free bluetooth capabilities for the phone to remain on). Just tell me how to set the default for audio output to be via the connector as it was before the OS3 upgrade and I'm set.
Also, before OS3, calls would automatically mute the audio coming from the phone and yet this doesn't seem to happen now - or at least not as seamlessly as it did before. I haven't had a lot of examples of this occurrence to confirm the behavior but it's definitely happened at least once (music keeps playing after the call starts) and I presume it's related.
Thanks for any help/guidance you can provide. This is my only real complaint with the phone especially since it represents a loss of convenience and functionality for me.

    Hi Chuckee63,
Thanks for the reply. Like you I eventually stumbled into the slow-down-and-wait solution as well. That has been serving me for about a month now. It's still annoying, though (I'm sure you'll agree) if you stop someplace quickly, leave the phone and get back in the car and have to disconnect and reconnect the phone.
You're right about the TSX stereo supporting Bluetooth. I mistakenly thought it didn't when I wrote my original post. The Bluetooth option in the car is interesting. It's cool that it "kinda" works, but the next and previous options don't work and I occasionally get interference when listening via that method. I hate the lack of control I have via the stereo bluetooth interface. I also am rather disappointed with how much of an inconvenience got introduced with the iPhone OS3 upgrade. It was just about perfect beforehand.
Anyhow, thanks for the response. Let's keep eachother informed if we have any other breakthroughs/better work-arounds!

  • Help with setting up hands-free on iPhone 4s

How does one set up hands-free on a Verizon iPhone 4s in a 2010 Prius?

By reading the Prius owner's manual, especially the chapter where it talks about bluetooth connection to mobile phones.

  • HT204387 Bluetooth hands free car system & PBAP

I have  successfully paired via bluetooth my iPhone 5 with my cars built in hands free. In my iPhones bluetooth settings I have gone in to the settings for that device and selected to sync contacts. The phonebook in the handsfree system says it is empty so I can't make calls from the hands free system unless I do it from the phone keypad. I am assuming that because I have the option to sync contacts in the bluetooth settings that menas my car has the PBAP function.

My experience is that the BB bluetooth profile cannot carry out the two things you mention. For part 2 of your question: have you tried out to switch your profile to "no sound" before you enter your car? I am not sure if the ringsound is re-enabled on hands-free profile but it is worth a try.
This is probably not satisfying but maybe someone will work on this for future releases of the OS (eg send ringtone sound via blue tooth like Nokia devices do or enable short message readers via blue tooth)

  • Bluetooth hands free unable to pair - Vista asking to install device drivers???

I'm trying to connect my hands free head set to my X200 running vista.
I have bluetooth enabled and  have already connected my cell phone.
    system details:
    X200 notebook
    windows Vista
bluetooth enabled and working (as I have already paired my cell phone)
When i try to connect my hands free, a message appears stating that the device has been found.
However, it then asks me to install the hands free drivers. In which there are none, as it is a bluetooth device.
Any idea's on how i can pair my hands free (bluetooth A2DP) to my X200 using vista??

  • How to set which app is controlled by hands-free device?

I have a Kinivo BTC450 hands-free bluetooth device in my car. With my iPhone 5 and iOS 7, it worked perfectly: the one button on the Kinivo started or paused my SpeedUp app (which plays audio content faster than normal), and when I got back in the car, it would automatically start up again.  With updates to iOS 8, it's now much more flaky (and same with my new iPhone 6+): sometimes the button turns on iTunes instead, and sometimes it turns on audio from some app I can't even identify (none appear to be running on the phone!). Sometimes pushing the button does not start or pause the audio, and it never starts up again now, when I start the car. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to
    1) tell the phone which app the bluetooth device is supposed to control
    2) make it more reliable
or perhaps suggest a better similar device (BT, with output audio jack for my stereo's AUX input socket) which is more reliable with iPhone?

    Hi Michael,
It sounds like you’re running into intermittent Bluetooth connection issues and other unexpected Bluetooth behavior since upgrading iOS on your iPhone 5. I suggest taking a look at the article linked below, it provides a lot of great troubleshooting tips that’ll resolve most Bluetooth connection issues.

  • Bluethooth hands free

Have a hands free bluetooth in car used with iphone 4 won't connect with iphone 5 can this be done without spending more money

It might be set up in such a way that it can only pair with one phone at a time or you may need to do something special to set up a new phone.
Consult the manual for the system & there should be suggestions in it for you.

  • I just bought the new Iphone4s. My old phone was synced to my car. How do I get rid of that one so I can use my hands free blue tooth for my Nissan Rogue 2010

I just bought the Iphone4s. My old phone is syncked with my hands free bluetooth. How do I get rid of my old phone so I can sync my new phone. My old phone wasn't an Iphone. My car is a 2010 Nissan Rogue? The car manual isn't very helpful.

You need to unpair the old phone from your car. The car manual may not be helpful, but unless someone here has the same car we will be even less helpful. One tip, however; make sure the new phone has a different name than the old phone.
