HANDSET speaker does not work

Hope anyone can help - my nokia E51 is not even 6months old yet and the handset speaker has stopped functioning.  persons hear me but i cannot hear them unless i use a headset or speaker phone.  any help?  if i restore factory settings will this work?

It sounds like it has a hardware issue so restoring factory settings will not help.  Take it to a nokia care point and they will inspect it for you.  The repair should be free if you are still within your warranty period.

  • My speaker does not work on my iPhone 5

when i'm talking on the phone, and decide to put the call on speaker, the button(function) does not work.  As well, when I attempt to listen to my voice mail using the speaker mode, I cannot hear the messages....What is going on?

Tried resetting the phone, by holding down the sleep/wake button and the home button at the same time until the phone restarts? It did not solve the problem.

When i try to make an outgoing call i cant here it ring, but my phone will actually call another phone. Does anyone know what # that connector is labeled as on the motherboard or back of the screen? Any help would be much appreciated!!!!!

There may be a problem with the microswitch in the headset jack. Click on the following link for the Palm KB article regarding this issue.

  • My Iphone 4s' speaker does not work. Please help!

When I try to play music, put it on speakerphone, etc. it does not work.

If repeatedly tapping the speaker and mute buttons don't work, try plugging/unplugging some headphones. Usually the circuit logic inside will reset itself.

  • Centre speaker does not work

Hi i just bought the Creative Inspire 5.1 P5800 speaker system. I've got a Creative SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 Digital soundcard. I've plugged in all the cables correctly, changed my Windows sound system setting to 5.1 surround and did the same on the Creative Speaker system application. When i test the speaker through the creative speaker application, all 5 channels will output correctly but if i open up any other application for movies or music, the centre speaker won't work. I've tried disabling my onboard sound chip (C-media), uninstalling codecs (heard AC-3 filters usually conflict with creative centre speakers' output), and reinstalling all the creative sb live! drivers. That still wont make any difference. I'm wondering if the cause is because i had to connect the center audio cable (the orange cable) to the digital output jack of the creative soundcard (but thats where it's meant to be, so... ). Can anyone please help. I sold my Creative 4.1 4400 2weeks ago, and if the centre satellite of this P5800 wont work, thats really money wasted. My last option is to format, and reinstall everything properly but i doubt that's gonna work. HELP....... Thanks

That's definitely a hardware problem(drop then malfunctioned). If you've replaced the ringer/buzzer & speaker from original parts & it does works also, most likely contacts on mainboard or soldered parts been dislodge. An autorized Nokia Care Center could resolved your problem.

  • G4 MDD 1.42 ghz dual, internal speaker does not work

I rebuilt a G4 MDD 1.42 ghz dual processor from a machine that did not boot. Had to replace the power supply and install the proper ram. The machine boots now and works fine. It does not make the chime on startup through the internal speaker. It does chime when externals are plugged in. I have checked all the settings in system preferences and everything looks okay. Checked the audio midi controls in utilities and all checked out. Reset the pram and still no internal speaker. Could the speaker itself be the culprit or am I missing something?

I suspect the trouble is with the jack, not the speaker.
Some Mac notebooks suffer a jammed muting contact within the jack that may be happening with your tower. Did you Open System Preferences > Sound, click the "Output" tab, and see if the internals show up? I know you say you checked the settings but, if the internal speaker is not clearly indicated on that tab, the mute contact is probably jammed.
People with notebooks suffering this are very often able to free it by inserting a plug and GENTLY wiggling it from side to side and up/down.

having problems with IPhone speaker, not working when switching phone calls to speaker mode, any suggestion?

Same problem - I was on the phone last night and the speaker switched off and can't figure out what happened. I tried to reset the phone, no sound is working.  I can hear a phone call if I hold it up to my ear. Very frustrating as my phone is less than 3 months old. Tracy

  • Telephone handset speaker / reception not working properly

I have had my Q10 for under two months and recently the phone speaker on the handset not the speaker phone has extremely poor quality sound.  Almost as if reception is horible with interference.
The phone itself works well in speaker mode or over blue tooth but using the handset up to your ear, you can barely hear the caller and it is crackly.
Any ideas of how to fix this?

    Of not...
    USB reset...
If your Firewire or USB isn't recognizing any device.  A solution which has worked for some whose hard drive became invisible in 10.4 was simply to follow these four steps to reset the Firewire/USB bus:
    1. Shut the machine down.
    2. UNPLUG the power lead to the computer and any firewire/USB drive or devices.
    3. leave it for 10 minutes.
    4. Connect back up and reboot.
