Handwritten fonts suggestions (SOLVED)

I installed some handwritten styled fonts from aur. (aquafont, breip, and augie).
Do you have any suggestion of any other handwritten fonts that could be
installed (not necessarily through pacman or aur)?
I'm making some mind maps and handwritten go very well with them.
Thanks in advance for any help.

  • After Reformat There Are Missing Fonts - NOT SOLVED

I know i already posted it but i said it was solved... turns out i didnt solve the problem. Heres whats wrong:
I recently zeroed all the data on my hard drive and started all over with my mac. However, I recently discovered, with the reformat, I lost my fonts. Even normal ones like Tahoma! How do I get these. I'm sure tahoma is a normal font that should be bundled with all computers and i remember using it before i reformatted my computer.
i also noticed this problem when i created a new account before i reformatted. no tahoma. unfortunately i forgot to back up my fonts folder so i dont remember what i had and what i didnt have. i think i might have imported the Tahoma font from my XP. but if thats not the case, then why isnt it there, and how can i get it back? I know for iDVD there was a similar problem where they didnt have any "Previous Menus" and all i had to do was unpack a package program thing (one of those open box icons) and they were there.
I'm sure I'm not the only person that has this problem since i have the same version of Tiger that everyone else has. What do i do? Or does tahoma just not come with Mac/Tiger?

Tahoma is not an OS X installed font. You must have installed it as part of some other application or as a separate font. Tahoma is a Microsoft font which suggests that it's installed when you install a particular Microsoft product, for example, Office 2004 X.

  • Handwritten fonts

Hey guys I want to create a font from my hand writing for a particular project. I have CS5.

Building a font file is not that difficult, given appropriate software. Corel Draw has long provided the ability to create/modify font files as a built-in feature. FontLab now owns and develops Fontographer, a longtime mainstay that is powerful, elegant, affordable, and easy to learn. FontLab also sells more basic and appropriately cheaper font editors. And there are a couple of open-source font editors.
The trick to handwritten script fonts is not so much pair kerning. But pair design. You'll want to design the characters' final tails to connect convincingly to whichever character happens to follow. Doing that, like font design in general, is tedious. But that doesn't mean it isn't fun.
Just Google for handwriting fonts and see what's out there. You might even find an online service that will do it for you.

  • Bizzare kde/openoffice font issue (SOLVED)

I appear to be having some issues with OpenOffice 2 and Kde.  Perhaps there is some simple solution, but as it stands.  OpenOffice is not in a usable state:
It works fine, readable menus, in Flux...  so I know it's a KDE issue.
Any help and advice would be appreciated.  (I just upgraded OpenOffice-base from the openoffice2 package.)

Couldn't get it.. So I solved the problem by axing KDE again and switching back to fvwm (I had messed up a config file somewhere before and didn't feel like looking through it to get it working.... I was new to fvwm..)

  • Why can I not use Dina-font as a Xft font?(SOLVED)

If I use the following code with i.e. dzen2: -*-dina-medium-r-*-*-15-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1 everything works fine. The problem is that I want to use it in awesome's statusbar, but ASFAIK it only uses Xft fonts.
Dina fonts are stored in *.bdf.pcf.gz files and as I understand it these font types should be usable in Xft oriented apps. Or what?
    Any hints/help are appreciated.

IT works fine for me, this is what I have in my .Xdefaults:

These are the font files I have on my system:

Maye sure that you have correct font paths in your xorg.conf, and mayre fun mkfontdir/mkfontscale on the directory where you have installed the font.
EDIT: I don't use awesome anymore, but "Dina-10" worked just fine in awesomerc (if I remember correctly).

  • Small, but readable font suggestion?

I'm working on a small food product label that has a lot of small copy—primarily directions for use, ingredients, and various other legalese. I'm currently using Arial Opentype regular and bold in a 5.75 point size with auto leading (6.9 pt), but I'd like to go larger. Does anyone have a recommendation on a good font to use for this application? Thanks!

I set a lot of type in that size range and rely heavily on all the various strains of Helvetica. It doesn't look vastly different than Arial, of course, but the availability of a full family of weights, plus the condensed and extended sets make it so much more flexible for copyfitting purposes. Other options to explore might be Franklin and Futura. I wouldn't dare go to a serif. Don't forget to take full advantage of InDesign's Justification settings.

  • Openbox addon suggestions [solved via wbar, volwheel, and glipper-old]

I'm looking for a couple of add-on programs to work with openbox. A clipboard manager and a volume control application.
The volume control app should go to the system tray, and be able to change volume with a mouse wheel like in the gnome-volume controler..I tried installing gvtray but get an error when running it..
The clipboard app I'm looking for would be lightweight. I dont need clipboard history, dont even need a tray icon, just want something that keeps the contents of the clipboard after an application is closed for example..

  • I am having trouble getting access to fonts on hard drive. In particular Helvetica Neue Black.  It seems that since HelveNeu.dfont is a system font Font Book  does not give me the option to activate HelveticaNeuBlack.

We recently started using Font Book instead of Suitcase Fusion for our font management program.  We are unable to activate our postscript type 1 font (Helvetica Neue Black)  It seems since hel neu is a system dfont that Font Book thinks we already have it activated but HelvNeueBlack is not part of dfont.  So even though I have it in my fonts folder the font is grayed out and am unable to activate.  I might add that HelveBlack is also a problem.  I've read the article by Kurt Lang on Font Management.  I followed his directions on how to remove dfonts from system but caused more problems than it solved.  I would appreciate a certified way to handle these particular fonts.  Do I need to purchase the Open Type fonts to solve problem.

What I did to fix was remove Helv Fractions that cleared up the problem.
It's been quite a while since I've seen that one come up. When you mentioned that some of the type looked like jumbled fractions, that should have jogged my memory. Yes, Helvetica Fractions is long known to be a bad font. Delete it from the hard drive and never reinstall it.
The HelvNeuBlack and HelvBlack fonts you sent are indeed creating conflicts. Here are screen shots of their internal names. HelvBlack first, and HelvNeuBlack second.
In Helvetica Black, the menu name is just Helvetica, which leaves nowhere for the regular Helvetica font to display in your font lists. It also then creates a cross reference between the two fonts. It is also reporting two other different names to the OS for the same font. Helvetica Black, and Helvetica-Black. You can technically get away with doing that, but it's bad practice.
Helvetica Neue Black is the same type of bad naming. The menu name is just Helvetica Neue, which leaves nowhere for the real Helvetica Neue to go in your menu lists. Then they rather oddly threw in Helvetica 95 Black for the full name, as opposed to HelveticaNeue-Black for the other two spots.
Just some really sloppy work here by someone for what I would guess were Type 1 PostScript fonts converted to Mac legacy TrueType. If you don't have the software to fix the names, the only good suggestion is to throw these fonts out and purchase new ones from a vendor who builds fonts correctly. And while they're kind of pricey, that means either Adobe or Linotype.

  • Font change in Safari and Firefox after installing Snow Leopard...

My apologies if this has been addressed:
Immediately after updating from 10.5.8 to 10.6.2 the fonts displayed in both Safari and Firefox have changed. They are now a barely-legible "handwritten" font. I have attempted to resolve the issue to no avail. The issue only seems to be present with Safari and Firefox- there are no applications (that I have noticed yet*) that are affected. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, NYeBeing & welcome to discussions
I have attempted to resolve the issue to no avail.
What steps have you taken, exactly, so we don't repeat, etc. I'll assume you've already used OS X's FontBook to check font health & remove dupes, and you've cleared existing font caches using Snow Leopard compatible tools such as QnyX or FontDoctor.
    What languages are enabled?

  • Fonts not showing in InDesign CS6

    Hi there,
I've seen a similar question to this before through a Google search and I tried the advice listed such as placing the affected fonts in: C:\Program Files(x86)\Adobe\InDesign CS6\Fonts; as well as searching for fonts with a **after its name.  Doesn't work.  The files originated in CS5 and pops up saying there are two missing links (fonts) which are Avenir Book and Avenir Black.  I've done the "Find Font" and the only one that shows is Avenir Book.  Avenir Black isn't even there, even after re-installing and relocating to the new folder.  Secondly, even after I save the file after "finding" Avenir Book, upon re-opening it still says it's missing.  Is there anything else I can try-short of uninstalling InDesign CS6 (I still have CS5 installed)?  Also, I'm not that familiar with InDesign, it isn't a program I use much.
    Thanks!

Is this the same computer where the files started out in CS5?
There are probably quite a few different cuts of Avenir (certainly over the years it has been available as TT and T1 in both Windows and Mac formats, and I have an OpenType version here from Linotype). Some possibilities for why CS6 might not see a font are that you have installed a different version, you have more than one version installed or it is installed in more than one location, or that it is looking at a different internal name in CS6. Typically, if the fonts are showing as missing, but are, in fact installed, using Find Font and substituting the same font will solve the problem.
