Hang after added 2GB ram into S12 (VIA Nano version)

Hi
My S12 (VIA Nano version) came with original 1GB ram, and I have added the additional 2GB into my S12 (Total 3GB ram), the 3GB ram can be recognized in BIOS but it's running very slow and hang in the windows login screen.
I have asked Lenovo's customer service (Hong Kong) and they said that the S12 (VIA Nano version) can support up to total 3GB ram but I wonder that this is true.
Can anyone help me to confirm it and solve my problem?
Does anyone have the same situation? Thanks!

My Via Nano S12 is having the same hanging issue after installing a 2 GB Kingston stick from NewEgg. At times it freezes when logging into a user account, other times it freezes within 4-5 minutes of use.
I'm running memtest on it at the moment fearing bad RAM. I'll give this BIOS update a shot after having read this thread. Anyone else have any luck getting this resolved?

  • Processor hangs after adding more RAM to probook 4540s

    hey ALL
recently i upgraded my laptop hp probook 4540s to 16 GB RAM
I am having two identical (Same part numbers) RAM sticks of following specs:
    manufaturer:   TRANSCEND
    Memory         :   8 GB (each)
    Frequecy       :   1600 MHz
    Type               :    DDR3
    PC3                 :    12800
the issue is the lowness of processor. Processor utilization meter shows 70 to 80 % utilization with these two sticks running.
If i install only single module of 8 GB then the System runs great. i have checked both modules individualy by installing each of them in single channel configuration. also i changed the slots in single channel configuration. in single channel configuration everything runs great.
the complete specs of my system are :-

do anyone have any idea of what is going on
i shall be very thankfull to everyone for helping me on this

    Hi,
According to the Maintenence & Service guide for your notebook  a maximum of 8GB is supported in your notebook.
The modules supported are PC3-10600, 1333-MHz, DDR3. They are not PC3 12800 modules like the ones you have installed.
That would seem to explain the issue you are having.
    Best regards,
    erico.

I have already turn off all visual effects and choose the power management setting to lowest performance
Then I check my battery life, it remains about 3hr 5x mins (99% charged)
Any suggection that I can make it longer battery life?

    Hi ADF Gurus,
We have an ADF application which freezes after we create a row in a particular VO,
When debugged in Jdev, the application seems to hang when either of the below log messages appear. Does anybody know what these messages mean? Just hoping for some hint as to where the problem might lie. The table where the new row is added has about 150,000 records in it

    And this is it.
I am able to connetct from JRMC. After removing -Xmanagement all is working.

Can you please take a thread dump and copy paste the stack trace for the Thread called "main" thread.
Please take atleast 3 thread dumps with an interval of 10 seconds and paste the "main" thread stack trace from all the 3 thread dumps.
After analyzing the stack trace we might be able to determine where it is hanging and thus giving us a clue where the issue could be.

  • Query Hangs after adding new Indexes

    Hi Gurus,
In order to fix some performance issues in the integration and UI, in our implementation we have added some new indexes like FST_NAME,LAST_NAME for S_CONTACT table.
We did not make any new configurations or SRF compilations. No new data is loaded into database.
But since today morning when we query in the application (Contact List Applet) the application simply hangs. We tried it with many sessions from different machines.
We thought of, this could be because of some broken earlier data source connections within the task/session. But the query in other entities is working totally fine.We tried Accounts and Assets, they are working fine.
We did a spool of SQL and executed the same statement in TOAD.It is strange, the statement is executed in just few milli seconds, as it was earlier.
We could not find root cause.
    Could somebody give some ideas.
    Regards

    Hi Robert,
In the Object Manager session log file I found the following trace after the SQL statement.
    T2.PR_EMP_ID = T11.PAR_ROW_ID (+) AND
    T25.PR_DEPT_OU_ID = T3.ROW_ID (+) AND
    T25.PR_DEPT_OU_ID = T21.PAR_ROW_ID (+) AND

  • Adding 2Gb RAM

HI, I have a Powerbook G4 17" 1.67 Ghz, 2Gb DDR2 SDRAM which is nearly 3 years old! I do a lot of video, graphics and photo editing on it, and its become very slow and lumbering lately. Had a thought to increase the RAM on it. With my specs do you know if I buy another 2Gb DDR ram will that fit into the powerbook is there enough space for it? I was told you can fit 4Gb into it. Any help appreciated! Phoned the apple store (from the UK) and they said to try crucial and mrmemory.

All the references I can find say you are maxed out now, presumably with two 1G RAM modules. The current gen of MacBook Pros can handle 4 gig, but not the PowerBook.

  • Satellite A65 freezes and does not respond after adding of RAM

    Gents,
My laptop Satellite A-65 has been upgrade from 512 MB RAM to 1024 RAM. It recognized additional memory without any problem (as it should be according to manual).
But unfortunately after 1 day it begun suddenly stops, pictures on screen freezes, laptop does not respond at all - only reset (pushing and holding power button) can help. some times laptop is able to work 2 or 3 hours, but then again stops.
Memory place cover is rather hot, fan very often work uninterruptibly. so i can't decide whether problem is in new memory card or not enough cooling or might be in changing of BIOS version (or BIOS setttings) and might be memory becomes full and does not clear itself properly (last remark was found on some forumes).
Experts, help to find exact reason especcially if u had similar problem.

    Hi
Im not expert but I would recommend removing the new memory module and let run the notebook only with the standard memory module.
If the notebook will not hang and will not freeze then its a very clear case for me.
Either the second module is not compatible or faulty.
In my opinion you should use branded modules like Kingston for example. The quality is much better as a no-name module.
Additional use the modules recommend by Toshiba

  • 865 GVM3-V restarts before booting OS after adding new RAM

I had RAM in only one DIMM slot which is TwinMos 512MB 400MHz (CL3).
I wanted some performance upgrade. I bought a new DDR RAM, Transcend 400 MHz 512 (CL3) and installed into the second DIMM slot of my MainBoard. After the moment powering on CPU restarts continuously just showing in the RAM size as 1GB (1024....), then showing the Primary IDE master disk and slave, then showing press del to enter setup, F8 to select boot disk and then reboots. Again it continues same. If I select del it does not enter into BIOS setup, simply reboots. It never goes upto booting the OS.
As I thought RAM might not have been fit correctly into the slot I unplugged them and then reinstalled. No result, restart continues.
I assumed if new RAM is damaged one. So I connected both of the RAMs seperately for test. They works just fine as single. But when I connect them both something goes wrong and it restarts..
I thought if the problem was with GRUB (I don't see such possibilites actually) I made windows partition as active so that it can boot into Windows XP directly without going through GRUB. No positive result, restart continues.
Then I guessed if there is a problem with combination of DDR RAMs of different manufacturers. I tested them(the two RAMs) attaching into another PC(MainBoard: Intel D101GGC) together to check if problem is the combination. There was no problem shown by that PC, boots and works just fine.
I'm in headache with this kind of hardware problem as I have some other tasks to do still this is giving me pain. Why shouldn't it work in my PC!
Any kind of help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, that's pretty weak for modern machines. Go for better one.
Go for quality PSU single rail with 30A[or more] @ +12V

  • System Hangs after adding Storage :(

First dont jump on me for mentioning a 4800 this is storage related.
    Solaris 8
    Brocade 3850(SUN Branded)
    SUN Samfs(4.2.8, running 5 months)
EMC Clarion(Old existing and always seen in config)
    Infortend FC-SATA array(Newly added)
I have added some FC-SATA drives to my 4800s. The process of adding these drives was done by a 'cfgadm -c configure <Controller #>'. Following this the disks are seen, striped and shared with SAMFS. All is good at this point.
During reboot the systems hangs just after the boot message of "System is coming up". I think it is at the point of finding mount points and doing an 'fsck', but the system never completes(+45 minutes).
When I drop back to the original configuration prior to the 'cfgadm' the system then boots just fine, but I then need to do 'cfgadm -c .....' to see the drives and mount my SAMFS partitions.
    Any ideas?

    SimonM
The disks can be seen when I attach the storage with a 'cfgadm -c configure <controller #>' and the system up and running. After dynamicly attaching the storage I can create filesystems, use SAMFS to share the filesystem out, and all is good across all machines.
I only have an issue later in life when a reboot(hate for a panic) occurs. Some sunsolve/goggle'ing found some old document that were very dated that pointed to the path_to_inst and fiber not playing well.
I am not 100% sure that the system has hit the mount/fsck processes or not but it is the next sequence in the boot process. I know it is storage/config related because (1) adding the new disks is the only thing that changed on the system, (2) returning the OS back to its original configuration before the disks being added allows everything to boot fine. I was just looking for some pointer of where to begin troubleshooting.
I will keep everyone updated. Like I said I only get a couple of hours every month if I am lucky.

  • Visual Studio 2013 WP Emulator not working after adding more RAM

After a few days I installed VS 2013 on my laptop which had 3GB RAM and got notified by visual studio that I need at least 4 GB for hardware virtualization. Now I have 6GB RAM and Hyper-V restarted and VS still doesn't recognize my new RAM and doesn't give
me an option to run the WP emulator.
Did any of you had a problem/solution with this?

Run MSInfo32.exe and post the System Summary results.

  • After adding list view into the web part page, the items and list control ribbon is not activated.

I created new webpart page and added one list view web part into the page.
However I can see the ITEMS and LIST tabs on ribbon area, but all the buttons are deactivated.
Do I have to activate any feature for this or any settings are needed for the webpart?
I already have full permission for this site.
For your easy understand I added the screenshot.

    Thanks for you advice.
However I am currently using the context menu and edit link in the view.
My Client keep complaining about the ribbon is not activated even thought it works fine in the SharePoint 2010.

  • PB 1400 won't turn on after adding a RAM card

I just bought a 16MB RAM card for my old PowerBook 1400cs/133 running OS 8.5. I made sure when I bought it that it was compatible, and I followed all the instructions in the PowerBook manual to install it. But, after I put in the card, put the keyboard and everything back where it belonged, popped the battery back in, and plugged the computer back in, it wouldn't start. Pressing the start button or the reset button in the back makes a clicking noise kind of like it's going to start, but the "bing" that's supposed to come next never happens, and the computer doesn't turn on. Once I remove the extra RAM, the computer works fine again. What's going on here?

Unless we are using different terminologies only, I find your statement about two user-accessible slots puzzling. Apple's literature refers to 'factory' and 'customer' slots, but this is not specially illuminating for users. There is a base of factory-installed RAM (12 or 16MB, depending on model), and a single customer-accessible slot for up to 48MB of additional RAM. For all practical purposes the factory-installed RAM is not augmentable. Most often a second expansion card is piggy-backed onto a first in the customer slot. Although there are a very few 48MB cards in existence, RAM is usually maximized with 24+24 or 32+16MB.
I suspect that, if resetting the Power Manager is not effective in this case, and you have admirably described that process in this forum many times, ML is faced with either an unsuitable (Apple's specification is TSOP low-profile RAM chips rated at 70ns or faster) expansion card, perhaps as described here, or a defective card, or a defective socket on the existing card.
Heaps. All upgraded.     System 6.0.8 to OS 10.4.x
