Hang of Mac OS after update to 10.5.5

Hi, guys. Yesterday I bought Macbook (MB402RSA) and decided to update Mac OS 10.5.2 to 10.5.5 using Mac OS X 10.5.5 Combo Update. After some minutes of a black window appears with message that said to restart OS. But touchpad did not react on my clicks that's why I restarted macbook using power button. After that I've got a problems. When OS started the Apple logo appeared, then blue background with appearing from time to time grey progress wheel and ... that's all. I tried to restart notebook several times - result was the same. But a huge problem it's I can't start from boot disk. I loaded OS with holden "C" (before it worked), but no reaction. I tried to load with Command+V and Command+S but result was the same. Moreover, I havn't a fireware cable to connect my macbook with another Mac, that's why I can't to delete something strange in my macbook. Only possibility to run with selection of hard disk works fine. But it couldn't help me cause I have just boot dvd and my own usb-flash. I don't know what to do else. I'll appreciate for any advice.

Unable to Load Mac OSX after update - Urgent! Please Help

I just updated my Mac using System update, which required a start.
I restarted the computer, but it's stuck in the gray apple screen with the circular running bars. It's been now 10 minutes, and it never took so much. I tried to turn it off, then on again, same problem. What should I do? Please, help!

Problem solved.
First of all, thank you all for the advices and links, now I learned something. After panicking, I tried the PRAM reset restart and the "shift" restart and it didn't work. I didn't have the installation disk with me, so I went straight to Tekserve to hear them. They told me that my system got corrupted for some reason and I had two options with them:
- a quick fix, for US$59, which would erase all my HD content and take 24 hours
- a fix without erasing the HD, for US$195, which would take 4 business days!
They said those were all the options. For me the money was not major problem. The big issue for me would be not having my computer for many days.
Then I thought: what if I try to reinstall the system myself? And they said: well, you can try that.
That's what I did as I got home. Install disk, restart holding down the "C" key.
One hour later, everything was back to normal.
Now the question: why at tekserve they didn't say anything to me about reinstalling the system myself?
Anyway, this was the first major problem I bumped into since I have turned to apple 3 years ago.

Sync hangs at very end, after updating to 3.0

After updating my 3G phone to v3.0, the backup and sync appear to proceed normally and then the sync hangs at the end. When it hangs, iTunes pegs the processors in my MacBook Pro. After waiting an hour the first time, I simply disconnected the USB cable without apparent ill effects; iTunes died down and my iPhone reverted to its non-syncing screen. I've done a restart of the phone (two buttons down for 10 secs until Apple logo appears) to no avail.
I've, of course, been adding apps willy-nilly since getting the iPhone so this may be it, right?. Should I start stepping back on these until I find a culprit?

This issue, to my knowledge, is known by Apple and should, from what I've read, be fixed (hopefully) in the 3.1 software. Given all of that, I'm not so sure why it's taken so long, unless, of course, Apple still hasn't figured out what's caused the issue. Try doing a search in the forums for this topic and you'll find you're certainly not the only one. Far, far from it.

PS CC 2014 not showing up in Mac Finder after update

Just did the update/install of PS CC 2014, and while I can see the application in my applications folder if I do a spotlight search, it does not show up in Mac Finder when I go to my applications folder. Actually this is the case for several CC 2014 apps after the update. For example, Muse CC 2014 and InDesign CC 2014 show up in my applications folder, but not Illustrator CC 2014 or PS CC 2014. Anybody else experience this and/or have a resolution? I did a restart after the cc 2014 app updates to see if that would fix anything, but it didn't.
It's annoying to have to do a spotlight search to reinstall all my plug-ins and to just launch the app.

Craig, thanks for the reply, but it's not a matter of updating the dock icons after the update. I realize I need to drag the new CC 2014 apps to the dock if I want to access them there. It's more of an issue where all the CC 2014 app updates except Muse and InDesign weren't showing up in my HD > Applications folder where every other app on my machine resides. Instead, most of the CC 2014 updates got installed to my User > Applications folder for some bizarre reason. Those updates are the ONLY apps in that folder.
Anyone know why they would get installed there instead of the normal HD > Applications folder?

Cant use my Ipad with my Mac Mini after updating Ipad OS

So after upgrading my ipad2 to the latest OS, it now will no longer communicate with my older mac mini. I open itunes on the mac with the ipad attached and it says I have to update to the 11.1 version of itunes to access the ipad. But my Mini Mac only runs Mac Os 10.5.8 (try to do a software update but it says everything is up to date) which is below the system reqs for the new itunes. Did apple just screw me? I like to put songs and what not from my computer onto my ipad, and likewise get video from my ipad onto the computer. Does anyone know a workaround? I wouldnt like to revert the ipad back to the older version because I recall having some other issue where I was forced to upgrade it.

T400 system hangs at POST screen after updating BIOS 7UET82WW

I have 3 GB memory and Win-7 Ultimate 32 bit OS installed in my T400 system. Recently I had updated the latest BIOS 7UET82WW thru TVSU and ended up with a serious problem.The BIOS update itself was succesfull, but right after reboot my problems started.
1. The system hangs during startup in POST screen and sometimes boots into OS after a long wait (20-30 mins)
2. When I try to press F2 to enter the BIOS, i get a long beep for about 10 seconds and screen becomes white
3. White screen garbage disappears in few seconds and blinking cursor stays for long time (around 20 -30 mins)
In net, I have to wait for around 30 mins for the system to boot into OS everytime. If I interupt in between by pressing any key, long beep and white screen garbage appears. I am not able to enter the BIOS as well.
After logon to the OS, everything seems to be absolutely perfect. But the problem comes back after reboot or hibernate and resume the system.
Appreciate any solution or feddback from anyone.

My T500 did this as well after the update. I went into the bios and loaded all the defaults, rebooted. Went back into the bios and reset my options (discrete only, turn off some unused features) and the system is working normally and Vista is booting as quickly as it had been before the update (and actually can accomplish a reboot).

Ipad2 hang on apple logo after update iOS 7

Yes it works again now after; I uninstalled Raport by Rapport utility, cleaned Rapport folders in system, re-installed the latest Rapport, activated at system preference, re-stated computer and then re-launched Firefox 9.0.1!

Hi. I updated my software for WORD for mac. After updating I am asked to enter a valid product key which I do not hve since the MAc came with the software. Whatr to do?

Macs do not come with Word installed. Where did you get this Mac from?

Bridge fails to launch after update.

After updating Bridge, the application fails to launch. The black dot appears below the Bridge icon in the dock as if it is opening, but then it disappears. The application will not open.

You can try just quitting the app as well, restart rhe iPad and launch it again.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
iBooks crashed on me a couple of times when I first updated yesterday so I just quit the app and launched it again and it worked.
or .... If Quitting and resetting/rebooting work, fails, delete the app and download it again. Tap and hold down on the app icon until it wiggles and then tap the X on the icon to delete it. Tap the home button. Then download iBooks again.

My Mac hang without any reason after 10.9.1 update

In my opinion, Mavericks is another dark age of Apple user lime me. My Mac is a retina MBP mid 2012. Mavericks 10.9.1 is getting worse.
1. WiFi just stop working, it freeze and hang my Mac. I have to hard reboot. This happen quite frequently. Clicking on WiFi menu bar us Nong responsive.
2. My Mac randomly reboot itself when lid closed and sleep
3. My Mac just hang. mouse is working bug the screen, all apps, and keyboard is not responsive. Pressing Caps Lock respond by lighting green LED. but it do not work to enter anything. Have to hard reboot. No crash log so far after reboot.
My hardware has been checked at Apple Service Center and all are normal.
Apple, fix this immediately. OSX is getting closer to Windows in term of instability.

i called apple support today. went through the same things with them, they recommended reinstalling OS X. so i did. and it's now fixed.
so i guess if you are experiencing this same issue, as a last resort before taking the computer into an apple store, just reinstall the operating system.
when you reboot, after the startup-sound hold (SHIFT + R) and choose reinstall OS X from the option menu that is presented.
