Hang while installing OS X Mavericks
Hi, my MacBook Air is currently hanging while installing OS X Mavericks. I got stuck after the installer asked me about my iCloud account, which I forgot, so I clicked 'Forgot Password'. It's been showing a gray loading screen ever since. I tried to restart it a couple of times but it won't, and my laptop won't even shut down. I close my computer and then the startup comes up again, I put in password, but it's the same gray loading screen.
I'd like to reload the installation, or at least get to access my computer files. What do I do? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Nevermind! It managed to shut down after a while. Whew!

Ive taken all defaults read install guide , checked availability of ports and made sure I have libaio.
I've reinstalled on two separate machines and everytime install fails after I accept defaults. Logs don't show anything. ./oracle-xe configure is the only thing in the log.
If I run this again it fails or hangs in the same place. ?????Im not sure where the netlistener is otherwise Id try to manually install?start ?
"Starting Oracle Net Listener"I have noticed the same thing on my install where it hangs on starting the listener. BUT. .. If you hit enter while it is hanging it will continue to the next step of starting the db. . It seems like it is waiting for some input but not displaying that on the screen. I would not suspect any input from a start listener. .This is my experience. Any others see this?

ITunes 9 hangs while installing. msiexec ?
Hi guys
I've been trying to install the latest iTunes on my PC, without luck.
I have version 8 installed, but seems there's something hidden that makes latest iTunes hang
Look: the installation keeps looooong time on this step. Same happens if I download and run the iTunes installer separately
http://i26.tinypic.com/2j2ccig.jpg
1. I have win XP SP3 with latest upgrades
2. I've run CCleaner
3. I've antivirus software up to date
4. I've run the Windows installer Cleanup utility
Do you know what else I could try to make iTunes install?
Thanks,So what do you want to do, rollback to v8 or troubleshoot v9?
+BTW, I previously tried to uninstall iTunes 9 and re-install iTunes 8. But 8 wouldn't run - it just gave me an error message re the library having been created by a later version.+
Yes, I saw that and my first reply said to get the itunes v8 ITL file out of the folder named *Previous iTunes Library*. Every time itunes updates, it saves a copy of the older version's ITL file in that folder.
If you want to go back to v8, you can't use a v9 ITL file, since v9 has a different structure.
You will get that "created by a later version" error.
You go and get the v8 ITL file from Previous iTunes Libraries and use that with v8. It should be easy to find, since it's named with the date you ran the v9 upgrade.
+"'System Configuration' An Access Denied error was returned while attempting to change a service. You may need to log on using an Administrator Account to make the specified changes."+
+Far as I know, my normal log-on account is an administrator account. Is there a way to check that?+
If you are on an admin account, you should be able to modify all the services on your machine.
Sigh. That tells me your XP permissions are messed up. You probably are running with an admin account. XP permissions are easily corrupted, apparently, because Microsoft has a special tool to fix them. They don't put special tools on their website to fix things, unless a problem is fairly widespread.
It's this subinacl tool:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949377
I realize that article talks about SP3 upgrades, but it fixes permissions for many other issues.

OS hangs while installing Broadcom WLAN Driver in Windows XP in CQ40-616TU
Laptop : CQ40-616TU
OS : Windows XP SP2
1) When i tend to install the Broadcom WLAN Driver in Windows XP, The system Hangs and never recovers back even after a whole night.
2) I could be able to install the WLAN driver in Safe mode of XP. After installation, the XP (in safe mode) promotes me to restart the PC. After restarting, the OS hangs in the Windows loading page itself and never recovers back.
3) After the WLAN driver is being installed in Safe mode, after disabling the Broadcom WLAN device in the Device manager, if i restart the PC, in normal mode, the OS did not hanged. In this situation, when i tend to enable the WLAN in device manager, the OS hangs.
4) In Device Manager, i could able to see that the device is located at PCI bus 2, device 0, function 0.

Thanks,
Shankar RI should add that without the update the Broadcom wireless adapter works fine with standard WPA or WPA-PSK but just did not have the WPA2 and WPA2-PSK options, which is how I had my router set up. There are 4 of us living here that share the router and did not want to have to reconfigure for WPA because of this issue.

CS4 hangs while installing Adobe Media Player
I am installing CS4 Design Premium on a MacBook. I can get past selecting what to install and when clicking install it does start to install the program. However, when it starts to install adobe media player it just hangs there. I have left it over night just in case this app takes a long time, but no luck in doing that.
Any suggestions? I would highly appreciate it.Installation issues are handled by tech support for free.

Mavericks - An error occurred while installing OS X
Hi,
I recently decided to upgrade an iMac from 10.8 Mountain Lion to 10.9 Mavericks. Using an external hard drive with the 5gb download, I began the installation (without making any backups or using Time Machine, very stupid). Then, during installation, I accidentally disconnected the external hard drive from the computer, causing the installation to hang for many hours with the message "An error occurred while installing OS X".
I had no choice but to restart the computer, but the installation hung with the same error. Then I pressed Command-R during boot and was given the option of checking disks, I selected Repair and Verify but no problems were found.
Now when I start the computer, a small loading progress bar displays at the bottom of the screen,
I would like to know please if there is any way of going back to the previous OS (10.8) or continuing the installation of 10.9.
I have read some recent posts regarding the error "An error occurred while installing OS X", but they recommend restarting the computer which I have tried with no luck.
Many thanks,
PaulIn the end, I tried reinstalling OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion by pressing Cmd-R, but I found out my hard disk was corrupt and could not be repaired, so I couldn't do the installation there.
So, I ended up having to replace the hard disk with another one, and potentially losing everything that was on the hard disk ( I will try to recover the data on it though). Replacing the hard disk is not too easy, you need a pair of suction cups to remove the screen and after I put the screen back together there is a strange dark patch on one corner of the screen that doesn't go away (although it's very slight).
So there are two morals for me to take from this story is; Make Backups Before Upgrading an OS and Don't Accidentally Unplug a External Hard Disk while it is Installing a New OS
Thanks everyone for your help with this issue. -
I lost all personal data while installing maverick in external drive. How can I recover lost data?
If all your files are missing
You may have logged in as a different user, such as Guest. Open the Users & Groups pane in System Preferences. Your name should be at the top of the user list, under Current User. See also this support article.
If files are missing from one folder
Change the Finder view mode; for example, from icon view to list view, or vice versa. -
My os x mavericks got crashed accidentely while installing the windows 8 and I am trying to reinstall using recovery console, but its take very long time and forcing me to download OS X mountain lion from internet, is there any where can I get offline download of OS file where I can install directely OS X Mavericks.
Hi, original poster here. I did not realize this would generate more discussion so I never checked back. I still had my warranty, so I took it to the store and got it repaired. The original problem I had was a screen with this icon flashing when I attempted to boot it up:
When I took it to the store, they told me that my computer was unable to communicate with the hard drive. I had this same problem three times in two months where this screen reappeared. Each time I went back to the store and they said the cause was different, but they were all hardware issues that physically made it impossible to communicate with the hard drive. After the third time, they simply replaced my laptop and I haven't had the same problem.
So in short: The reason you can't reinstall or move anything when you encounter this screen appears to be because nothing can communicate with the hard drive in the first place. You can't reach the disk or anything on it. So I don't believe it's possible to do anything besides take it to a physical store and have it fixed. -

Manojhi John,
we left the installer running overnight, but the install process has still not completed. Also it has not created any uninstaller files under the following directory:

what could be the reason for that?

Accidentlly removed ios while installing win 8.1 on macbook air
hi everybody..
I just accidently erase my MacBook ios while installing windows, actually I format the ios partition and now when I restart Mac and pressing command bottom it's just windows system comes up and there is no Macintosh option is available!!!!!
I desperately want my ios back please help me...........................Even on my MacBook Pro Haswell (2013) 15 inch retina with a GT 750 2gb.
The Things in Mavericks that really make me :
1. The Launchpad is buggy when i scroll to the left or right... sometimes it doesn't even respond at all.
2. Safari and Other Apps Like AppStore freez sometimes, and i need to force quit everytime, because its not responding.
3. Bootcamp Windows 8.1 <---- NOT 8 Support (Bad Keyboard- Facetime camera- drivers,
Icons (brightness, sound) are ugly on retina screen) + GPU Drivers i can't update (maybe that's normal).
4. iTunes is very SLOW when Scrolling the Albums (i know its 2880x1800 and that's heavy for GPU) But it's just not a good 'Experience'.
5. Gaming its realy good on this MacBook, but please make the drivers better, i know this GT 750 GPU can do better. -
Not able to install OS X mavericks
Hello All,
I have tried to install OS x mavericks on my macbook air, but wasnt able to install.
When I try to download OS from App store, it shows to install app, but nothing happens after I click on it.
Also, in purchases tab of App store, I see OS X mavericks in Other purchases, but without any option at all. ( no download or install or update) It is just blank.
I have been trying to figure this out from a while, and browsing online, did not see this issue happening to others over the web. Is this a bug... and you have at least OS X 10.6.8 currently installed?
... and you have at least 8GB of free disk space?
If so, I think you're saying you completed the 5.3 GB Mavericks download, right?
If you open the Install OS X Mavericks app from your Applications folder, exactly what happens? -
Error in Database installation while installing CRM 4.0 on Linux
Hello,
We are installing CRM 4.0 on LINUX platform,
We have successfully installed the Central Instance, but while installing the database instance, when we start the OUI the installation starts and hangs at 0%
<b>installing java runtime environment Link pending.......</b>
We have already installed the jre as per the SAP manual.
Also, the JAVA_HOME environment variables is also set to java/.../bin
As such there are no error logs for my problem,
Could you please suggest me some appropriate soln.Hi Vasu,
ORA-4031... for 99% of cases this means one thing:
the database instance is not configured correctly.
To proceed, do the following:
1. get rid of init.ora (it's not used at all)
2. make sure that the init<sid>.ora file is really used.
If there is a spfile in the %ORACLE_HOME&/database folder
then this will be used.
3. With your configured shared pool of 85MB your memory should really not be filled up - anyhow it's really too small for a SAP system!
Thus I'd check how much memory the other sga-area members (buffer cache, large pool, streams pool, java pool...) take up.
Remember on Windows 32 Bit, everything runs in one single process that can only allocate 2GB (or 3GB if you've set this option).

for more on this.
And when you're setting up parameters anyway, check note

My Apple TV is not mirroring my Macbook Pro after I installed OS X Mavericks
My Apple TV is not mirroring my Macbook Pro after I installed OX X Mavericks?
Installing Maverick does not change the hardware requirements.
Did it work prior to installing Maverick?
Does the device meet the hardware requirements?
Supported Macs
AirPlay Mirroring in OS X takes advantage of the hardware video encoding capabilities of 2nd and 3rd Generation Intel Core processors. Hardware video encoding allows AirPlay Mirroring to efficiently deliver high frame rates while maintaining optimal system performance. The following Mac models have processors that support AirPlay Mirroring:
iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)
Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)
