HANGING Issues with PS, ID, & AI! keeps crashing my whole system.

I spent $500 at an Apple recommended shop. Brought it back twice, Still no luck.
Anybody else havoing these issues?

Does the whole machine shut down, reboot, or hang?
Do you get an Apple message about a system error (aka kernel panic) when the machine restarts?
If either of those happens, you're probably looking at defective hardware in your system.
And no, most people are not seeing such problems.

The last really supported Flash for PPC was 10.1.102.64, but if it's for like Facebook or such, people have been fooling FB to think they have a leter version installed.

  • Time machine on Lion crashes the whole system when used with external HD

    Hi all,
Anybody got the same problem? I did a Time Machine backup just before I did the upgrade to Lion (using an external USB HDD) after the upgrade (that went well in my opinion) when I ask TM to do another backup it stays on "Preparing" indefenately and ultimately crashes the whole system ( reset with ctrl+cmd+power button) is required otherwhise the system stays non reactive.
    Regards,
    Iwan

Start by verifying your internal HD, and repair your backups, per #6 in Using Disk Utility.
If that doesn't help, see #D6 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting for a possible way to cancel the backup.  If that works, use the widget in #A1 there to display the backup messages from your logs.  Locate the backup in question, then copy and post all the messages here.

  • Aperture 3.4.5 crashes my whole system

I've upgraded to Aperture 3.4.5 and it crashes my whole system (21.5" iMac).
When it is opened all other apps become unresponsive and eventually the whole system hangs with the spinning ball.
I bought an iMac because I was sick of Windows crashing every time you asked it to do something - this I'm afraid is no better and definitely not what I was promised at the time of purchase.

and a 1TB external drive for storage of photos
Is this drive formatted for Mac? If it is not formatted MacOS X Extended (Journaled), Aperture may have problems and hang.
My system runs well when Aperture isn't running but as soon as I start it, the problems start.
Check, what Aperture is doing: Open the Activity Viewer (Aperture's main menu bar > Show Activity)
    What does it show?
Is it constantly processing the same image or video?
Is Aperture faster, if you hold down the shift-key while launching Aperture? That will disable some of the background processing.
I've been through all the trouble-shooting and the upgrade was from version 3.4
Which exactly? It is hard to suggest something, if we do not know the results of the steps you tired already.

  • Ipad1 with ios5.01 - safari keeps crashing; have rebooted; help!

I upgraded my Ipad 1 (16gb 3g model) to the new ios and then updated to the latest version of the softwsre.  Ever since, Safari keeps crashing - virtually every time I use it.  Have rebooted but to no avail.  Makes what was a fabulous web browser virtually unusable.  Anyone else suffering from the same problem?

My first gen iPad crashes occasionally in Safari, and on this site it sometimes just logs me out instead of crashing. You could try clearing Safari's cache (Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data and also Clear History) and then close Safari completely and see if that helps : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Another option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Flash Player 11 64-bit for Windows with 32-bit Debugger Keeps Crashing

    Hi,
I have been battling with this crashes since Flash Player 11 came out. I have a 64-bit Windows machine and installed Flash Player 11+ 64-bit with 32-bit debugger. Every time a run my application it crashes. Even YouTube crashes also. If I don't install the debugger everything works fine (but then I can't debug my application). I tested it in Firefox, Chrome and IE and all of them crash.
I am contented with FP 10.+ for now (until Adobe come up with a solution)  because it works for me including the debugger but I have an issue with my application that only occurs in Flash Player 11.
If anyone else knows a fix or how to get around this, please share. Thanks so much.

i have the same problem and also the uninstaller tells there is an error but no information is available.

  • Issue with assistive access not keeping permissions

Since a recent upgrade (likely from OS X 10.9.x to 10.10.2) I've had issues with Assistive Access blocking Automator and Applescript from interaction with dialogs.
If I run my script or my Automator workflow (which basically has the same script in it) I get the error:
System Events got an error: Automator is not allowed assistive access. (in the case of Automator).
If I open Automator, and then untick and retick the Automator entry in the Accessibility options within Security & Privacy (System Preferences), then workflow can run again. It continues to work until I Quit Automator. Then it's as if OS X no longer trusts Automator to be the same app I gave Accessibility permissions to.  And the situation repeats. It's much as if it were not code-signed. The exact same issue plays out with Apple Script.
I came across this info, which I hoped would solve the problem, but it made no difference: http://macscripter.net/viewtopic.php?id=43394 and http://bit.ly/1x3SRmc
In my Accessibility permissions I now have:
    Script Editor
    Automator
1Password 5 (which the script interacts with)
com.apple.security.agentStub.xpc (in case that's being called up and triggering the Accessibility issue)
osascript (in case that's handling the script and triggering the Accessibility issue)
SecurityAgent.xpc (in case that was triggering the Accessibility issue)
I added all these because the post at http://bit.ly/1x3SRmc     indicated that anything Apple Script is interacting with needs Accessibility access permissions.
    My script is as follows:
    set appName to "SecurityAgent"
set passApp to "1Password 5" (* set this to the name of your password manager *)
    tell application "System Events"
if not (exists window 1 of process appName) then -- test if SecurityAgent window exists
      set answer to display dialog "The password dialog was not found. Please check." buttons {"Ok"}
return -- abort if SecurityAgent window does not exist
      end if
    end tell
    tell application "System Events"
      set position of window 1 of process appName to {10, 10}
-- move SecurityAgent window out of the way
    end tell
    activate application passApp
    tell application "System Events"
      tell application "SystemUIServer"
      set answer to display dialog "Make sure correct 1Password item is actively selected (i.e. click it again if it was previously selected), then click “Continue” to proceed." buttons {"Continue"}
      end tell
      tell process passApp
(* If you are not using 1Password, you may need to change the menu item clicks, below, to whatever is correct in your particular password manager *)
click menu item "copy password" of menu "item" of menu bar 1
      delay 1
      set appData to the clipboard
      end tell
      tell application "System Events"
      tell process appName
set value of text field 1 of window 1 to appData
if exists (text field 2 of window 1) then
set value of text field 2 of window 1 to appData
if exists checkbox 1 of window 1 then
if value of checkbox 1 of window 1 is 1 then
click checkbox 1 of window 1
      end if
      end if
set value of checkbox 1 of window 1 to 0
      delay 1 (* gives  a moment to see what's going on *)
click button "OK" of window 1
      else
if value of checkbox 1 of window 1 is 1 then
click checkbox 1 of window 1
      end if
      delay 1 (* gives  a moment to see what's going on *)
click button "OK" of window 1
      end if
      end tell
      end tell
    end tell
In Automator it would appear the script is generating an error as soon as it reaches line 5, "if not (exists window 1 of process appName) then"
I would greatly appreciate some assistance in resolving this issue.

Starting with Mavericks, Apple changed the way that the accessibility works (see Using AppleScript with Accessibility and Security features in Mavericks) - each individual application needs to be given access, instead of a global option.  A regular AppleScript application saves properties and global variables with the script, which makes it a new application as far as the system security is concerned, so it needs to be re-added to the accessibility list.  To work with this new security feature, you need to code-sign your AppleScript application or make the script(s) in the bundle read-only so that they don't get changed (note that an AppleScript-based project in Xcode does not modify the application bundle by saving properties and globals).

  • Photo Booth Crashes My Whole System

And yet... iChat works fine with my camera and never has issues
OKay, so I've googled, searched the discussions... and haven't found anybody with the same issue
Not only does photobooth crash, but my entire system is crashed to where I'm told to power down (hold power button for x seconds...) and then reboot... weird
I don't know if its just my dumb luck?
Not that I really needed Photo Booth for anything, was just screwing around and figured I'd give it a try, but it seems silly to crash the whole machine -- and its been this way since the app first installed....
Any ideas or needs for further clarification?
OH and I've tried this running nothing but the finder (and other such background apps) and Photo Booth, nothing else and still the same issue

If repairing permissions doesn't help, I would consider reinstalling the app as an optional install from the installation DVD. If you do, download and apply the combo updater to bring it back up to date (but I don't think there were changes to Photo Booth).
Does anything interesting appear in the console log when it crashes?

  • Issues with PCI-e drivers activating in XP Pro (system keeps crashing)

    Hi,
I've just put together a new system:
    580W Hiper PSU
    MSI X1950PRO 256MB
    MSI K9A Platinum
2GB Patriot Extreme Performance DDR2 PC6400 (Eased Latency Memory)
    Athlon 64 x2 3800 am2
The problem I am experiencing is that I cannot get the ATI drivers to load into the OS without causing a crash.  After looking at the error code that XP spits out when the crash occurs it seems to happen right when the video card driver is loaded at which point it blue screens and gives me a memory error.  I know absolutely nothing about overclocking but I have tried everything I can think of with this RAM and cannot seem to figure out what the problem could be.  This is the second card I am on so I know it's not the video card.  I have tried the memory in different slots, tried one stick at a time, tried using different timings and no matter what I do I keep seeing this error.  In a fit I ran MemTest and found nothing wrong with the memory.  Has anyone else ever seen this happen before and if so what has been the fix?  Is it possible that the K9A and the memory just don't play well together?  Could it be some sort of timing issue?  I loaded Windows fine using it so I am guessing it's not.  I currently have it running at 800MHz could that be the problem?  Would slowing it down make any difference?  I did notice that although the BIOS does allow quite a bit of flexibility for overclocking that one of the things that cannot be changed is the memory voltage (which seems to be set at 1.90V).
If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it as I have lost about a week working on this now and have about $800.00 tied up in a completely unusable system.
    Thanks.

    hello, welcome to forum.
have you installed chipset drivers 1st, before VGA drivers?
list PSU details. (can be found into PSU sticker)
ensure memory sticks are located into 1st DIMM1 slot close to CPU socket and DIMM3.
go to BIOS "LOAD BIOS OPTIMIZED DEFAULTS", apply memory vcore to 2.0V or 2.1V.
get a copy of Memtest86 and test memory for errors.
Hi, thanks for taking my post BOSSKILLER.  The PSU specs are as follows:
    Hiper HPU-4B580 PSU
      ATX 12V v2.2
      580W
      Dual+12V = Yes
Output = +3.3V@30A,+5V@36A,+12V1@20A,+12V2@18A,[email protected], [email protected]
      Input Current = 10 A
      SLI and Crossfire certified
I've run MemTest x86 on the memory several times and did not fine any errors however I am now curious about the memory itself VS what the board can handle.  After going through all of the specs on the board (please bear with me here as I am "memory illiterate") it would appear the the board can only handle the memory running at 1.8V as this is what I see from the system specs for the board from MSI:
      Supports Dual DDR2 533/667/800
      - 4 DDR2 DIMMs (240-pin / 1.8V)
      - Supports a maximum memory size up to 8GB.
OK, so going with the fact that I know next to nothing about memory speeds and how voltages play a part in them I know that the last memory that I just sent back to NewEgg was a Patriot Extreme Performance DDR2 2GB PC2-6400 Eased Latency DIMM Kit (PDC22G6400ELK).  It's timings for 800MHz were 5-5-4-9 with +1.9 for voltage.  I had everything in the BIOS for the memory set for AUTO and from what I could see it was being detected at 800MHz memory however if I am interpreting what MSI is saying about this board (and this is where I am really confused) it only supports 1.8V type memory?  If so then I am really in trouble as I just ordered some replacement memory which is Kingston HyperX and it's timings are (for 800MHz) 4-4-4-12 at +2.0V and (for 667 MHz) 5-5-5-15 at +1.8V.     If I understand this equation correctly it would appear that this board cannot handle memory running over +1.8V and it seems that (in spite of the fact that it claims to support 800MHz speed memory that is only if you can purchase memory that will run at 800 MHz while only consuming +1.8V (does that sound correct?)  The bottom line is that there was probably nothing wrong with that Patriot memory I just didn't know what I was doing.  I did notice in the BIOS when I looked at what it detected that it was running by default at 800MHz but the voltage was +1.9 vs. the +1.8 that the manual says it will support.  Could that be what all my problems have been with not being able to get these drivers working?  That the second the part of memory that the drivers need to access is "accessed" because of the difference in voltage that XP panics and immediately "blue screens"?  Let's just go out on a limb here and say that I'm correct then what I am really being told is that this board will not support either of these memory modules running at PC6400 and that I will have to drop the speed down to PC5300 (or 667MHz) in order to get the +1.8V that the board supports to make the system stable?
How far off-base am I?  (Let me know as soon as you can as I am eager to know whether I just wasted more money.  Thanks!)

  • Issues with restarting after a program crash- please help

Two questions regarding restarting after a program has crashed on Leopard.
    1. I had an issue where Parallels crashed and I had to restart. When restarting, the dock closes and it goes to a point where there is a circle timer. This does not stop and an error comes up stating that I need to hit the power button. Is this "normal" after a program crash and restarting? On a side note, I couldn't close the program with Force Quit. This seems to be happening often.
    2. How often does it occur for you where a program will not close with Force Quit? I've had Parallels crash and some other programs. When this happens, Force Quit doesn't do anything. Any other options?
    Thanks for your help.

You should check your startup drive as a starting point, if programs are crashing regularly. That's obviously not "normal." Run +Repair Disk Permissions+ in Disk Utility while started up normally. Then, start up from another disc and run Disk Utility to use the +Repair Disk+ on the startup drive, to look for disk directory issues (you can startup from the Mac OS X installation disc to run Disk Utility).
When this happens, Force Quit doesn't do anything. Any other options?
You can start the Activity Monitor program and quit processes that look relevant to the app. Sometimes, force quit does not work to quit an app because an underlying process keeps running. Sometimes, the Mac is not able to restart or shutdown normally because an app refuses to quit, due to this problem. It is often difficult to know if you should kill a process, so after doing it to make an app quit, it would be a good idea to restart.

  • I have been having recurrent issues with my IMAC. It crashes while I'm using apps like Chrome, Evernote or Spotify.

The apps stop working, usually when during the syn process, and the computers ends up crashing altogether. Sometimes not even the 'force quit' will do the trick, so I end up forcibly shutting down the computer.
    Can anyone help

That is probably where the problem is, following the developers instructions remove the app from your system. Anti-virus apps in general tend to create more issues than they solve.Fortunately the best method to protect your system from any malware is by keeping your system up-to-date. Once successfuly removed then restart in Safe Mode (Google it) and then restart normally and re-test.
