Hangout app is hidden

Hangout app is hidden but I can't see find the shortcut on my phone, it is not on the list of applications but it shows that it has been downloaded on the phone.

No more playing hide and seek for 'hangouts' fyc, let's get it back. Please access your 'Apps' and then select the Menu icon>hide/unhide apps. Once you see it, make sure you uncheck the box.

You would need to ask google that question as it's their service but the answer will most likely be no based on how they've treated WP8 so far.
3rd party apps may exist or may be possible but I've not seen one yet.

Hangouts APP can't remove it. How is this done?

I downloaded the Hangouts APP which I find very annoying. I tried to remove it but have been unable to. How do I remove this app?

Ann154, this is the kind of support I am used to from Verizon. It is late, after the fact, and demonstrable that they did not read or comprehend the full dialog thread... at lest from where I jumped in. If they had they would have not said, "However, you may be able to disable many applications if you go to settings>applications>all and then select the apps you want to disable." Especially, since the problem I expressed was my frustration in not finding the app listed in the list. But, Thanks to you (and a credit to rcschoonr for agreement with you), we were able to get the job done. (Do I need to add, "Without any help from Verizon?")
Also, why did they "apologize for the inconvenience"? Are they admitting that it is a mistake or that it is wrong to force apps that we don't want on to us?

Is there a possibility that my apps are hidden? Because when checked my iPod, all my 200+ apps were gone but when I plugged it in my laptop there is a portion in my memory that says "others" which measures about 10gb. I remember my apps having the same size so I presumed that it is that part. How can I make my apps appear? I don't have any backup of my games so I can't sync it.

The "other" should be about 0,5 GB or less. A large "other" means that it containes a lot a corrupted files. To regain the storage space on the iPod you have to restore yur iPod. Usually a restore to factory defaults/new iPod is required.

Can process and icon of iPhone app be hidden?

i was always worried about the security of iPhone 3GS since i stored most of my id/password on it. recently i had a little concern that maybe some apps i installed on my phone didnt have an icon and i couldnt see the process via sbsetting as well. so that means there're some apps on my phone that i can never get access to and i dont even know what they are doing.
and as a developer, im quite interested how can process and icon hidden be achieved by code. so my question is, am i thinking too much or process and icon hidden really exist in iPhone? if the answer is yes, how can i do this by code? any clues are welcome!

For a non-development answer, if you have more apps than can be displayed in the limited number of pages allowed they will not be shown but are still available when you use search which is located to the left of the first page. You can also move apps to folders, allowing more apps to be visible on the pages.
Any other type of hiding of an app would be difficult as there would be no way easy way of launching it. Remember as well, that apps cannot run in the background except for limited functionality.

Server App showing hidden users?

I am a little familiar with 10.8 sever, have it running on a few machines, but i'm still a novice so go easy please.
I loaded up my server app today and I was greeted with this massive list of what I presume to be hidden users, not sure why they are appearing and how to turn that off? The pictures explain better what the issue is.

Hi Christopher,
Sometimes the solution is right in front of you but you just don't see it. It was very easy to solve:
Select the "Users" tab in the Server.app and then from the toplevel menubar select View -> Hide System Accounts
That's it!! (Must have accidentally selected it without noticing ......)
Decided to put it in this thread as well in case somobody else (or you) might stumble across this problem as well.

Starting an app in hidden mode?

I have several apps that are set to launch on login, and that I wish to have running in the background. I normally have to hit CMD-H to hide each window in turn.
Is there a way to have an application launch directly into hidden mode, preferably without even the window flickering on screen before hiding?

Open the Accounts pane of System Preferences, click on your account, find the list of login items, and check the Hide box for each of them. Due to an OS bug, some application can't be hidden through this method, but can be by adding the following AppleScript to the list:

The Script Editor is in the /Applications/AppleScript/ folder. Save the script as an application.

But I would like to launch iBackup in hidden mode, I do not want to see the main iBackup window.

did you try to scan your PC before?
please repeat create new admin account, clean boot and sfc once again to make sure there is no issue related to user profile issue, 3rd party software issue and registry issue
if not working i suggest you to perform system restore, back to condition when this PC working fine

You don't need any setup mangers for this. Adobe Air for iOS use embedded runtime into package (captive) and you can't build it separately. For Android there two options. Make it built-in (captive) or shared. So don't worry about mobile devices. Just use captive for Android.

I don't understand your issue. When you developing and publish app for iOS/Android - you must use Developer certificate that you must buy from Apple or Android/Azamon. iOS don't allow packaging without certificates. Android allow with self-signed.

Adobe Air very flexible. You can use different techniques. For example I use visualization software to create from Adobe Air bunch of files just single one executable file. It's like packaging you app with all external files inside another app.

Turn console app into hidden system tray thinger...

yes, i'm sure this question is goin to be annoying, but if anyone could point me in the right direction in this..

Do you want and actual Sys-Tray icon thingy? If so, there is a JNI method of doing it. Goto the Programming forum and search for JNI and System Tray, you may yet find it.
If you just don't want the MS-DOS or Command window, then just use javaw and launch from a Batch, or shortcut, or JAR.

App icon in Dock dims when it has a hidden window

I have learned that when you open a photo in Preview, for example, then hide the open Preview window using Command+H, the Preview icon on the Dock will dim to indicate the app has a hidden window. Snow Leopard does not seem to do this for me, but it does work on a friend's Mac. Is this a bug or a setting somewhere to turn this icon dim feature on? Anyone?

Does Apple document anywhere on its web site or otherwise what an App's hidden's features are that would have to be turned on/off with Terminal? I would be nice to know what other features we can do on the Mac that just aren't available in menus, etc., except in Terminal.

Did you purchase the app on your iPad, or through iTunes on your computer? If you downloaded directly to your iPad, the icon likely loaded onto a different page. On your home screen, swipe your finger to the left and keep doing that until you find the page the App went to. Once you see it and you want to move it to hour home screen, hold your finger on the App until it jiggles. Then while holding the App slide to the left edge of the page and it will move to the next page back and so on and so on......

Make switching apps (Cmd-Tab) skip hidden apps?

Prior to using Mac OS X 10.8, I used 10.6.8. In that version of the OS, and probably all the previous ones, I was used to hidden apps being moved to the right end of the apps list used by Cmd-Tab when switching from one app to another. When hidden apps were moved to the end, they were less likely to be selected and unhidden. It also meant that after an app was hidden and moved to the end of the list, a simple press of Cmd-Tab to switch to the previous app would not select the hidden one (unless it was one of only two apps running).
However, in 10.8, hidden apps aren't shifted to the end of the list. Therefore, hiding an app, followed by a simple press of Cmd-Tab will make the just-hidden app reappear, even if there are several apps running.
Is there some way to get the Mac OS X 10.6 functionality back that moves hidden apps to the end of the list?
That is, if the apps list currently contains:
A B C D
"A" is the current app. If I hide that app, "B" becomes active and "A" should move to the end of the list:
B C D A
While app "B" is active, pressing Cmd-Tab will switch to app "C".

Please bring this functionality back! If I hide an app it's because I want to completely remove it from thought and view. I would close instead if I didn't want to receive notifications from it or for it to continue playing music, etc. I can't tell you how many times I've hidden an app just to accidentally cmd+tab back to it a minute later. The same goes for minimized apps when all windows are minimized. If there are no windows to cmd+tab to it should go to the end of the list.

Family sharing - hidden apps

I Have hidden my purchases apps on my iPhone (by swiping left, then hiding the apps within the purchased summary within the App Store). Will these apps remain hidden when family members share my iCloud account? I just want to share my music, nothing else.

Indeed, this is exactly how to prevent others associated with your via Family Sharing from seeing or downloading purchases you've made.
If you want to keep some purchases private, you can choose to hide individual items.
