Hangs at Creating Domain of PFRD 11g Configuration

Could anyone help please?
I'm trying to install PFRD 11g, following, "Oracle® Fusion Middleware Installation Guide for Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g Release 1 (11.1.1)"
On a Red Hat Linux Enterprise 5 - 32bit server, successfully installed Weblogic and PFRD (Portal/Forms/Reports/Discoverer) 11g (install only type). Then run config.sh to configure the PFRD instance. However, the configuration hangs at Step 11 of 12, Creating domain.
The server has 6 GB physical memory and out of it, 5 GB memory is free.
Below is the last few entries of the installation log

    Dear Oracle Oracle BI Software,
This software is a big puzle for end users and it is really wasting our time in try and error scenarios. admit it with us and don't hide behid curtains. Well did u follow the Guides in the Book ? Yes Yes i followed and it is still showing errors .. in the name of God inform the Development Department to manage the setup .. i configured everything fine and what is really funny that after it loads 100 % it discovers that it can't create domain. sorry i m not a master Guy, but before the installtion it should validate for us if everything is ok and can be lauched not to do 1 hour workshop and cover out at the end of the movie that there is an error.
Guy put this product in the shelf until next release
    Thank You

  • OBIEE 11.1.1.7.0 installation hangs at Creating Domain

I am trying this installation for N times...Windows 7 professional environment, 6Gb memory.
Did several tries suggested by forum and web... like temp directory env variable is C:\TEMP and C:\TMP, disabled antivirus, installed java 6 at c:\Java, installed JRockit at c:\Java... Disable the sleep time, etc... and always hangs at the creating domain. Task Manager shows java and  javaw with 0% CPU..
Loopback is installed and ok. Tried with Simple install and Enterprise Install.
I just checked the Cookbook: Installing and Configuring Oracle BI Applications 11.1.1.7.1 and it does not mention at issue at Enterprise Installation...
Pls. any hint or help ?
    Txs. I appreciate.
    Antonio

you don't need to install Java, as Java is part of the installables.
You might need to check whether your installables are not corrupted.
you don't need to set any env variables too. if you have created them, remove them.
is your machine 32 or 64 bit. what you are installing is it 32 ro 64bit do they match with the machine?
do you have a data base and is the RCU installed? ( if you are trying enterprise install)
for every fresh install, drop and recreate RCU schemas.
do you have Administrator access to your machine? with out this OBIEE will not be able to create folder etc.
Run the installation batch file as Administrator.
    let me know your updates

  • [Win XP Development] Configure Classic Instance hanging on "Create Domain"

I've installed wls 10.3.5 on a Windows XP SP 3 platform. It's up and running.
I used the install-- do not configure option for Forms/Reports 11.1.2.
Now, I'm trying to configure this Windows machine for development.
I've shortened all the paths.... e.g. c:\Oracle\Middle and c:\Java and using c:\temp for temporary directories to avoid the pesky tilde issues.
I have 3GB of RAM to work with. I've even tried to make the task easier by just configuring Forms instead of both Forms and Reports.
I've even configured a Windows loopback connection and rebooted the machine, and deinstalled Forms and WLS and re-installed to use the loopback address.
I used to get crashes, now I get hanging that times out after a few hours if I let it go on.
Any breakthrough tips or suggestions? Oracle Support has an SR open on this for 3 weeks, but they are swamped and stumped.
Edited by: steve_newguy on Feb 23, 2012 1:29 PM. Corrected type of installation. Meant to say development instead of deployment option.

Is there a particular reason you want to do the Deployment config on your XP machine? Windows XP cannot be used for remote access or multi-user access. On XP your only option is single user, local access only. Basically for local designtime only. So the only thing you really gain by doing the Deploy option is an opportunity to become familiar with it. Also, although it doesn't have anything to do with your current problem, 3gig isn't going to be enough to do a Deploy install and expect to not pull your hair out while waiting for the hourglass to stop spinning each time you do something. Don't get me wrong... it will run, but very sloooowly.
Ok, on to your problem. In most cases, a hang during the config part of the install suggests a problem starting a process, usually opmn. You were on the right track when you said you installed the loop back adapter. If you look closely at the install and config logs, you likely will see that opmn was unable to start. If this is the case, I would bet my money on the net configuration. Just installing the loopback adapter is only part 1 of the steps needed. Also, this is ONLY needed if the machine is using DHCP. Do not do this if it uses a static address.
If you have an opportunity to start from scratch I would recommend it. Here is my suggestion, starting with cleanup:
    1. Stop all running services and processes related to this Oracle installation. That includes WLS, Node Manager, OPMN (Windows Service), etc
    2. If possible, use the Shortcut created to perform an uninstallation of FMw
    3. In Add/Remove Programs, uninstall WLS
    4. In the system environment variable settings, remove ALL references to FMw or WLS. Look closely at PATH in particular. (My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Environment Variables)
    5. This one is important. You need to remove the Windows Service created for OPMN related to this installation. I would explain how to do this directly in the Registry, but that might get messy. I found the following which explains how to do it from the command line.
    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/how-to-delete-a-windows-service-in-vista-or-xp/
    6. Once you have completed all these steps, reboot.
    7. After rebooting, delete any remaining directories related to FMw and WLS. Don't forget the C:\bea that may have been created.
    8. Assuming loopback has been installed, open the system's hosts file in a text editor. Found in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
    9. Add the loopback address and hostname. Be sure you have not created duplicates. In other words, ensure that the localhost address does not reference the hostname. Your entries should look something like this.
    127.0.0.1       localhost
    # Replace the address and hostname below with your loopback address and hostname
    192.168.0.10  yourMachineName10. Reboot
    11. Install WLS 10.3.5. At the end of the installation you will see a check box for running Quick Start. UNCHECK this box before exiting as there is no need to run this.
    12. Install FMw 11.1.2.0. You can choose either Install Only or Install and Config. There really is no reason to not choose Install and Config.
I do not recommend trying to have both a Deploy and Development installation type. If you need the Builders and would like to use the Deployment install type, simple be sure to select the Builders during the install process. The Builders are available in both installation types.

Actually, it is recommended to install Forms 11.1.2.1 with WebLogic 10.3.6 as this allows you to use Java 7, the most secure Java version to date where WebLogic 10.3.5 only allows Java 6. I have done dozens of Forms 11.1.2.1 installations using WebLogic 10.3.6. From these installs, I have found a couple other root causes to the problem that you have not noted that you tried yet. I'll post some ideas below:
Check to see if your PC or server name contains any underscores “_”. This has been known to cause domain creation failures. Try modifying your PC or server hostname to remove any underscores (the best recommendation would be to only use alphanumeric characters and hyphens). NOTE: A PC/server reboot will be required to activate this change.
Example of a bad hostname: oracle_server123.oracle.com
Example of a good hostname: oracle-server123.oracle.com
Verify the admin user permissions your account has by going to %MIDDLEWARE_HOME%\user_projects\domains\%DOMAIN_NAME%\config\fmwconfig\bootstrap and try to open cwallet.sso using Notepad (the file is not text-friendly, but this can be used as a quick test). If you happen to get permission errors, try the following steps:
Go to the location where your Oracle folder is located. (Example: C:\Oracle)
Right-click on the Oracle folder and select Properties.
Select the Security tab and select the Administrators group. NOTE: Make sure your user account you are using is the same one who installed WebLogic and the Forms/Reports binaries and has full control permissions to the Oracle folder. If not, please do this first before continuing.
Click the Advanced button at the bottom of the window.
In the Advanced Security Settings for the folder location, you’ll see that the “Inherited From” column is set to “<not inherited>”.
Select your user account and click the “Change Permissions” button
Near the bottom, check the box that says “Replace all existing inheritable permissions on all descendants with inheritable permissions from this object” or any similar message. It should be the second check box in this window.
    Click OK.
It may take a little bit of time (usually not more than a minute) to modify the permissions for all files in the directory and subdirectories. NOTE: If it tells you that access to cwallet.sso is denied or if it prompts you that you need administrative privileges to access, you can ignore this message as you’ll need to reconfigure the domain anyway (a new cwallet.sso file will get created when you retry the Forms configuration). When finished, click OK, then click OK again.
Other useful tips can also be found at this knowledge base article at http://pitss.com/us/2012/10/08/oracle-forms-configuration-hangs-at-creating-domain/. Hope this helps!

  • Creating Domain step fails while trying to install OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5)

    Hi Everyone,
I am really stuck at a point from where I do not know which route to take. I am trying to install OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5) on my Windows 7 (32-bit) laptop. I have tried all the options:
    1. Simple Install
    2. Enterprise Install
    3. Software only install (after installing Weblogic 10.3.4.0 separately)
Everything goes well till the step Bi Configuration->Creating Domain.
In this process whenever it reaches the stage when it tries to start Node Manager, it starts getting java exceptions and fails. It typically occurs when it does not find the nodemanager.properties file and tries to save the configurations there. It then encounters a Fatal Error.

After this it hangs for a long time before finally coming up with Node Manager Server Timed Out error and finally the Creating Domain step fails.
One thing that I have noticed is that whenever it tries to create the nodemanager.properties or write to it it encounters this error and hence the nodemanager.properties file is also not getting generated.
I have ensured that there are no spaces in the TEMP and TMP paths. I even tried creating and putting the nodemanager.properties file in the location but that too does not work.
Strange part is that when I install Weblogic separately and have nodemanager as a windows service, then with the nodemanager.properties that I created the windows service runs, but the OBIEE installation still fails.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks and regards,
    Subho

My problem is "creating domain is failed". I guess that the issue with windows 7 32 bits on laptop doesn't configure and run nodemanager. I tried to start nodemanager but don't work (with weblogic scriptinf tools WST). However, Weblogic run ok but nodemanager is inactive. Also it doesn't create nodemanager.propierties. If I create a file nodemanager.properties (or I copied on directory obiee_home\ws_server_10.3\common\nodemanager) obiee installer configures its parameters pre-configured (if I modify a parameter, the installer modify it a default value and I don't know where is these parameters and its definition).
I have installed obiee simple and enterprise and it don't work. I have installed on oracle 11g R2 (desktop and enterprise with datawarehouse) and obiee installer doesn't work. Further this installation obiee delay an hour and then generates error in my case "creating domain is failed".
I'm going try to run install obiee 11.1.1.5 on windows 7 xp mode.
Important: We need help of oracle experts or Oracle communicates if obiee installs or not on windows 7 32 bits laptop because We have wasted
    Thanks if anyone help us!!

  • Oracle Forms 11g Installation. Create domain problem

    Hi,
I am installing Oracle Forms 11g on Windows 7 32-bit system. Installation is done. Create domain is failing during the configuration process.
I searched everywhere but cudnt find a solution specific to the problem.
Only recognisable error message is 'CSF Entries will not be parsed since the AdminServer is unreachable'.
I have checked Node Manager is not running.

  • Installation issue:create domain failed in configuration steps

    Hello,
I am trying to install Oracle 11g BIEE in windows XP 32 bit machine.
Till configurtaion steps no problem. After that it takes some 1 hr in create domain step and at the end shows failed.
I searched in this forum, in one its said create a separate folder for temp and assign that as path in the
    environment variable TEMP AND TMP
I did that still its same.
If i click continue then also same
Almost everything which comes after Create doman is failed.
    Pls help,what should i do?
    Thanks

    Hello,
just one thing installing RCU when need to give the schema name i didn't give sys and gave a user who is normal user with dba privillege because of which i got some errors like insufficient privilleges like while running something like this...
    "grant execute dbms_ouput to dev_mds"
and some plsql object creation failed like "Pl/sql object failed SD Clean up procedure",at the time when u click create button.
But at the end it showed the schema being created.
So i didn't bother much about that.
I cannot give sys user as i don't have my own db in my machine.
Is this a problem because of which now i am facing problem in configuration steps????????
    Thanks

Install Loopback Adapter with Static IP Address
    http://www.oracledistilled.com/windows/configuring-the-loopback-adapter-on-microsoft-windows/
Note: hots/host/etc file the static ip should be set like below
    # localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.

  • Create Domain from template doesn't loads right deployment configurations

    Hi!
I would like to export my domain configuration in a new machine.
As documentation reccomended I've generated the template.jar using the template builder.
When I try to create a new domain on other machine (using the option "create domain from tempalte") I noted that the configuration server would load correctly but the same doesn't happens for the deployment configuration.
Does Anyone know where is the error?
    Diego

    Thank you for the reply.
Since I've configured a complex environment this is a critical issue for me.
    I tried two different solution.
The first is using the template builder, the second using the pack/unpack script but the result is the same.
I hoped to solve the problem unpacking the environment changing only the config file but it seem get more than one problem.
I will ask helping to the support.

    Hi,
I found the issue, that is I have installed once and uninstalled it. but some of the components still not released. This is the route cause for this issue,
    Solution:
Go to Run-> Services.msc -> search for the Weblogic related services.
If we found any such services running/disabled or in any state. we need to remove them.
    To remove them go to run--> regedit --> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> SYSTEM--> CurrentControlSet-->Services
    and then remove/delete the service..
Restart the system and try for fresh install....
    Its resolved my issue.

  • Creating domain for BI Publisher issue

    Hello,
Im trying to create domain for BI Publisher 11.1.1.3.0.
When configuring JDBC there are two component schemas: BIP Schema and OWSM MDS Schema. For database I have MS SQL Server configured with required RCU schemas.
The strange part: when testing the configuration, one fails - the BIP Schema. In the result log I see a very strange ""SELECT 1 FROM DUAL"" test which is obviously for oracle and not MS SQL.
For the 2nd schema, the one with successful test, there is a valid test query.
Please help me understand what am I doing wrong, why is there an Oracle test query for a MS SQL database and finally why on earth only one test fails because for both i have the same database type.
The version of fusion middleware is the one that came with BI installer 11g (11.1.1.3.0)
If wonder why am I doing this manually it is because the BI installer hangs at step 11 Creating Domain for about 100 minutes and then exits with timeout. great programming!
Please give me any hint, advise i can use to make BI Publisher run.
    thank you
