Happy to join the elite group of ORACLE PROFESSIONALS
Hello All,
I have recently passed my ORACLE DBA 10g OCP exam and I am happy to join the elite group of Oracle Professionals. I have always been obsessed about Oracle and its numerous products and I am glad to have turned this dream into reality.
Its the first step and I hope that as I gain more insight into this fabulous world, I would be able to delve deeper and most importantly inspire,motivate, and share it with others.
My sincerest thanks goes to my Lecturer AINA and my colleague WILLIAM who is also a DBA 10g OCP, and has also passed the SQL Expert exam.
I am joining this community in the hope of gaining valuable and relevant knowledge to enhance my skill and expertise in the Oracle World.
Lets share the knowledge...
Thank you.

Michael,
Welcome to the Forte community!
Please refer to the web page http://www.sagesoln.com/forteusr.htm
on information about the mail list. Including how to subscribe and

The mail list is maintained by Sage Solutions, which is not
affiliated with Forte.
The list now contains about 930 email destinations, of which approx.
130 are Forte employees. So it is very likely that any questions you
have can be answered by someone on the list.

Can I join the oracle and mssql database together?
Hi,
Did someone know how to join the table from two different platform database? I need to join oracle table with Mssql table in the select statement. Is possible to do so or any hints out there?
Thanks
DaronHi,
Definitly yes, Oracle and MSSQL are two different products and there are unsupported datatypes exists in MSSQL server. Except few instances, you can go ahead and join in one single query provided if you have database link.
Cheers!!!!

Oracle-Xe, can't seem to tell that I am a part of the dba group
Hi, I just installed oracle-xe and it seemed to go well. but when I make myself part of the group and try to start the database from the applications menu. I get this message.
Operation failed. KarlRove is not a member of 'dba' group
in Gnome. Yet when I do
[KarlRove@WhiteHouse ~]$ id KarlRove
uid=1000(KarlRove) gid=100(users) groups=100(users),7(lp),10(wheel),50(games),91(video),92(audio),93(optical),95(storage),98(power),1000(dba)
Oracle created the dba group I just added myself to it with
usermod -a -G dba KarlRove
Was that wrong? Any ideas as to what is happening? Oracle also created a user called Oracle, who's account is disabled in user settings.I don't know about oracle, but with regular system-level groups you have to completely logout out your user and log back in before it picks up a new group.

Give me the sql query which calculte the table size in oracle 10g ecc 6.0
Hi expert,
Please give me the sql query which calculte the table size in oracle 10g ecc 6.0.
RegardsOrkun Gedik wrote:
select segment_name, sum(bytes)/(1024*1024) from dba_segments where segment_name = '<TABLE_NAME>' group by segment_name;
Hi,
This delivers possibly wrong data in MCOD installations.
Depending on Oracle Version and Patchlevel dba_segments does not always have the correct data,
at any time esp. for indexes right after being rebuild parallel (Even in DB02 because it is using USER_SEGMENTS).
Takes a day to get the data back in line (never found out, who did the correction at night, could be RSCOLL00 ?).
Use above statement with "OWNER = " in WHERE for MCOD or connect as schema owner and use USER_SEGMENTS.
Use with
segment_name LIKE '<TABLE_NAME>%'
if you like to see the related indexes as well.
For partitioned objects, a join from dba_tables / dba_indexes to dba_tab_partitions/dba_ind_partitions to dba_segments
might be needed, esp. for hash partitioned tables, depending on how they have been created ( partition names SYS_xxxx).

An invite to join the SOA-BPM EMG
You're invited to join a new branch of the Enterprise Methodology Group (EMG), the SOA-BPM EMG.
What is the SOA-BPM EMG?:

This group is a place to discuss best practices and methodologies for SOA and BPM Enterprise (Oracle) development, including effort by "experts" in SOA (that’s anyone that knows what SOA stands for ;-) to discuss high level issues than those discussed on the OTN SOA Forums. This effort is an overall part of getting SOA and BPM experts, advocates and programmers to start collaborating at user group events and OOW to get SOA and BPM out there

Hi All,
My ACS5.2 joined Windows 2003 Active Directory successfully. I created Support group with user1 in the internal store, also created Support-AD group with userad1 in the AD store. Identity Store Sequency is set Internal first, then AD. I can map Support-AD group to the local Support group without any problem.
Internal user gets authenticated and authorized OK. However, if the user is an AD user, the rule for AD users is not picked. So it goes to default.
I must have missed something. Please help. I have uploaded my screenshots.Thanks in advance.Hello Robert
I am facing the same problems like you.
Pls can you help me to configure ACS to join the AD ?
My goal is to authenticate users on AD for access to cisco routers and switches
I configured local users on ACS5.2 and I tested them. Everything is working fine (authentication, authorization etc)
Now I try to authenticate users from AD without success
I would like to send you the screenshots of the current configuration. Can you pls tell me where is the mistake or what have I forgotten to apply ?
Pls send me an email to send you the screenshots
Happy New Year

Hetrogenous join: ms access local and oracle on server
Hello
I want to know if it is possible to join tables from a local client ms access db and an oracle db on a server. I have used the link feature in ms access and the hsodbc feature of oracle, but the ms access db is local and the oracle is not. Is there anyway that I can control the local access db from a link from the oracle db on the remote server?
ThanxThere is no such facility as of now to acces Oracle table from DB2 database or anything.
You can spool the data into flat file for MS access table and import that data into
Oracle table. -
Managed server not able to join the cluster
Hi
I have two storage node enabled coherence servers on two different machines.These two are able to form the cluster without any problem. I also have two Managed servers. When I start one, will join the cluster without any issue but when I start the fourth one which does not join the cluster. Only one Managed server joins the cluster. I am getting the following error.
2011-12-22 15:39:26.940/356.798 Oracle Coherence GE 3.6.0.4 <Info> (thread=[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '2' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)', member=n/a): Loaded cache configuration from "file:/u02/oracle/admin/atddomain/atdcluster/ATD/config/atd-client-cache-config.xml"

{Hi,
By default Coherence uses a multicast protocol to discover other nodes when forming a cluster. Since you are having difficulties in establishing a cluster via multicast, Can you please perform a multicast test and see if multicast is configured properly.
http://wiki.tangosol.com/display/COH32UG/Multicast+Test
Hope you are using same configuration files across the cluster members and all members of the cluster must specify the same cluster name in order to be allowed to join the cluster.
<cluster-name system-property="tangosol.coherence.cluster";>xxx</cluster-name>
I would suggest, try using the unicast-listener with the well-known-addresses instead of muticast-listener.
http://wiki.tangosol.com/display/COH32UG/well-known-addresses
Add similar entries like below in your tangosol override xml..
<well-known-addresses>
<socket-address id="1">
<address> 172.23.34.91<;/address>
<port>8190</port>
</socket-address>
<socket-address id="2">
<address> 172.23.34.74<;/address>
<port> 8090</port>
</socket-address>
</well-known-addresses>
This list is used by all other nodes to find their way into the cluster without the use of multicast, thus at least one well known node must be running for other nodes to be able to join.
Hope this helps!!
Thanks,
Ashok.

How can i select some row from multiple row in the same group of data
I want to select some row from multiple row in the same group of data.
ColumnA
Column B
1 OK
1 NG
2 NG
2 NG
3 OK
3 OK
I want the row of group of
ColumnA if ColumnB contain even 'NG'
row , select only one row which Column B = 'NG'
the result i want =
ColumnA Column B
1 NG
2 NG
3 OK
Thank youThat's some awful explanation, but I think this is what you were driving at:
DECLARE @forumTable TABLE (a INT, b CHAR(2))
INSERT INTO @forumTable (a, b)
VALUES
(1, 'OK'),(1, 'NG'),
(2, 'NG'),(2, 'NG'),
(3, 'OK'),(3, 'OK')
SELECT f.a, MIN(COALESCE(f2.b,f.b)) AS b
FROM @forumTable f
LEFT OUTER JOIN @forumTable f2
ON f.a = f2.a
AND f.b <> f2.b
GROUP BY f.a
