Happy with 27" core i5 quad core

Just wanted to post that I'm very happy with my new 27" i5 quad core.
I'd ordered a core i7 27" on Jan 5th but, like many others, got 2 delay notifications. I cancelled that order and on a whim went to the local Apple store. I didn't know that they actually carried the core i5's at the store. I thought they only had the core 2 duos.
Anyways, got the machine home last night and everything is perfect. No dead pixels, cracks, or obvious yellowing. It's beautiful!
I tossed another 4GB of ram to get up to 8GB and am loving it!

Bluetooth shuttted down after I updated to Mavericks, please help me !
I am 70 Years old and worked very happy with my iMac (21,5“ mid 2010, 3,2 GHz Intel Core 3)
until I updated him from  SnowLeopard 10.6.8 to Mavericks 10.9.2.
2 Days all was OK. Next Morning-Start he needs (until now) 3 minutes to show me a SCREEN only milky white. After that he starts like ever with all ICONS in about 1 minute. (together 4 min.)
..But I must notice, that I cannot make anything, because the „BLUETOOTH APPLE WIRELESS KEYBOARD  and the APPLE  MAGIC MOUSE“ doesn't work anything like before.
I could nothing do, I must drop my APPLE only out.
That I maked ever 10x and all was the same... (Maveriks also 4x new updated)
I taked my Logitech-Bluetooth-Mouse from the WIN-Laptop, dropped it in USB from iMAC...and in one second I could work only with this MOUSE...I buyd the Logitech COMBO K520 and all was OK now with my lovely APPLE iMAC to work with him...But without APPLE KEYBOARD and MAGIC MOUSE...and with a 4 min. -START until now.
I  asked the EXPERTS from APPLE-SUPPORT under Tel. 0800-6645451 in Germany, became a Number, maked many Things by starting new, but the mistake after all is the same like before.
When I look into ...Apple/ Info/System/ Hardware/ Bluetooth   ..my APPLE says: NO INFOs FOUND (Es wurden keine Informationen gefunden.)
Under Hardware/ Diagnose : Selbsttest beim Einschalten: zuletzt ausgeführt: 15.05. 14, Ergebnis: Bestanden (that means OK) !!
I asked many Peaple, who sold APPLE-Computers in the STORS, but they all had no IDEA, how they can help.
I think, it could be a DRIVER when Starting the BIOS, JAVA RUNTIME a.s.o...
Is an Expert under YOU to help me by my Problem with this iMAC ?

    dietmarfromdeu,
if you start up your iMac in Safe mode, do you still have Bluetooth problems with your Apple wireless keyboard and Magic Mouse?

  • I am running OSX 10.5.8 on a 2008 Imac with  Intel Core 2 duo am I compatible with OSX 10.6 snow leopard, much less Lion and Mountain Lion?

I want to link all my apple products so I can use icloud with ease but I am running OSX 10.5.8 on a 2008 imac with intel core 2 duo and not sure it's going to be beneficial or compatible. Is my desktop really just an external hard drive alreadt in 5 years? I just purchased a mac book pro 2012 and also have a 3Gs iphone I just want to have a happy apple family ; )

Your computer is compatible with all of those OSes, but may need more RAM to run 10.7 or 10.8. As the RAM requirement is the same for both 10.7 and 10.8, don't bother with 10.7 unless you're using software incompatible with 10.8.

  • Best way to set up motion 5 with multiple cores

I am a novice in this area so bear with me.
I recently purchased a Mac Pro with 8 Core and 24 GB of RAM as I'm doing a lot of video rendering for my video lectures.  I use motion 5 to chromakey the greenscreen background on my talking head video. Most of my videos are 1 - 2 hours in length.  Prior to the mac pro it took my mac book pro 26 hours to do the chromakey rendering.  Now with the Mac Pro it is about 10 hours to render 1 hour of video but I'm wondering if there are any settings I could tweak to get it to render even faster.
I have a two hard drives - one is the solid state and the other is a "regular" harddrive (forgot the name).  The OS and motion 5 are installed on the solid state drive.
    Here are my system particulars:
    Processor  2 x 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory  24 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50d)
I capture my video  using screenflow and then export just the talking head video with the greenscreen and pull that into motion 5 and chromakey the greenscreen.  I then export/share the file as 444.
Here is a screenshot of my activity monitor while it is rendering a greenscreen video.
    http://www.screencast.com/t/gkC3u6CbyeCZ
It seems it can use more memory etc. but doesn't.  That is where I'm thinking there is something I can do to make it use the resources available.
I am open to any suggestions and appreciate the help.
    --Laureen

    Hi Mark,
    Thanks for the reply.
FCP cost's $300 - do I really need that if Motion 5 does the same thing?  If it gets my render speed down significantly I'm willing but I won't be using it for anything else - I just want to make sure I get a good return on my investment.
And "compressor" is that a part of FCP or another program to purchase?

  • What is difference to ORACLE for a 16 cpus machine and 1 cpu with 16 cores?

What is performane impact to ORACLE running on a 16 cpus machine compare to 1 cpu with 16 cores?
No difference? but maybe something I don't know.........

So far (I know) there is only quad cores/socket available in the market. Advantage with multiple cores in a socket is
If you are using Standard edition and < 1000 concurrent users, Oracle license based on Socket. So you will pay 4 CPU license instead of 16 CPU for quad core sockets and
    Technically performance of 4 * quad core/socket = 16 Single core CPUs.

  • Unacceptably slow performance with 12 core

    Hi Folks,
my twelve core seems to be running like a slug.
      Model Name: Mac Pro
      Model Identifier: MacPro5,1
      Processor Name: 6-Core Intel Xeon
      Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz
      Number Of Processors: 2
      Total Number Of Cores: 12
L2 Cache (per core): 256 KB
L3 Cache (per processor): 12 MB
      Memory: 16 GB
      Processor Interconnect Speed: 6.4 GT/s
Using Final Cut Pro and Motion is ridiculously slow. My 8 core seems faster on the same tasks.... 12 core just wants to go to beach ball mode and take time out to "think" with virtually every other adjustment I make to my open projects.
The real kicker comes in the finder, when doing things like emptying trash from an internal two disk raid, the machine wants to "prepare" to think about thinking about sending something to trash.... I've been around macs a long time, but this does not feel right.
Any ideas for improving performance. Is anyone else experiencing these difficulties?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Charles

    Hi guys,
I appreciate all the responses... For what it worth I am in the habit of using disk utility to repair permissions and scan disks from time to time, for manual maintenance. I confess to being a designer, not a technician, and I do what I can to get by (until such time I hire an IT expert to take care of complex stuff and networking). I am due for this to be honest. I have not checked my disks since this post but fairly recent scans showed my disks are fine (but that's not to say they are optimised for the 12 core, and there may be problems disk utility is not smart enough to identify).
The possibility of it being a migration issue is highly possible. I was very unhappy with the migration and new account settings on my last two mac pro's.  FWIW, my 8 core was been migrated from a G5 (and that from a G4) as I usually upgrade every three years or so. Both my 12 core and 8 core share preferences and have been alternatively my main current personal machine.... I'm sure there are shared legacy files that may well be clogging the works. I would dearly love to set their primary short user names up again and simplify the accounts, since I am far from happy with the way these machines have been set up. Any hints on doing this in a sensible manner?
When I attempted the migration from 8 core to virgin 12 core over my network I had a "failure" and I was stuck with a half baked migration. I then had to create a new account on the 12 core and manually copied some files and preferences from the 8 core to the new account... The whole thing is messier than I would like.... To compound things, I then decided to take back the 8 core as my personal machine and reserve the 12 core and its power for editing and motion graphics processing.  Both machines have shared the internal two disk raid  consisting of two X 1TB 7200 rpm Samsung disks set to Raid 0. I also run an E-Sata raid with 5 X 256GB 7200rpm disks set to raid 0.
    What is superDuper?
Can I have a consensus on "Disk Warrior" being the way to go as far as exceeding the power of Disk Utility?
Thanks SO MUCH for your input.
    Best,
    C.

  • IBM Calgary IOMMU and ACPI NUMA With Intel Core i7

I been recompiling my kernel a lot to include support for my RevoDrive 3 and I've come across these two options which I'm not sure whether I should leave them enabled or disable them. In the help box for both of these options it says that it's recommended to keep them on if you have a Core i7, which I do. Yet, in dmesg it says that it can't detect calgary or any NUMA modes. Is this something that should really be enabled or is it ok to disable it? They don't show up with the stock kernel and I haven't had any problems with disabling them.

  • MacBook Pro 17" with Intel Core 2 Duo startup freeze with 10.6.8?

With my MacBook Pro 17" with Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.33 GHz startup freeze with 10.6.8 - I had problems after several SW upgrades. Startup ends every time in a freeze or a crash, nothing is running, i am not able to type in the password. it starts in beginning with thin colored disrupting lines on the display and this get more and more and than freeze the system.
"Save Boot", startup with shift shows no problems, display is ok, no freeze. So something must new in the video-driver. Is there any driver what I can delete or any new software to help in this issue?

try to boot off the cd installazzione, when the screen appears to follow thePACKING screen viewing. If you've already looked in the manual are your problem?

Which O/S upgrade is recommended for a MAC Book Pro17 with Intel Core Duo 2.16 GHz

Do I need to upgrade to 10.5.xx? Will this platform suport 10.6.xx? If 10.6 will work do I need to install 10.5 first?
    Thanks...

Hi. Your computer can be upgraded to either Leopard 10.5 or Snow Leopard 10.6. 10.6 will be much easier to find and will be less expensive. Leopard is not required prior to upgrading to Snow Leopard.

  • I have a MacBook Pro with Intel Core Duo and Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Want to upgrade to Lion to take advantage of icloud. Is there anything I can do without getting a new MacPro?

I have a MacBook Pro with Intel Core Duo and Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Would like to upgrade to Lion but it requires a minimum of Intel Core 2 Duo. Can I get what I need or do I have to buy new MacBok Pro?

I also have a core duo MBP with Snow Leopard and it runs perfectly.  There are very few things it cannot do as compared to the faster, newer MBPs, but that is attributable to the CPU, not the OS.  There are some who view Lion as downgrade rather than as an improvement.  If there are important applications that reqire a fast CPU or Lion features that you find essential, by all means get a new MBP.
I have an aphorism:  Obsolescence is more often a perception rather than a reality.  Besides the silver keys look much classier than the black ones.
    Ciao.

  • How to use Real time execution trace toolkit with Dual-core processor??

    hi there
    the situation as follows:
i have a computer (PC and Laptop) types with Dual-core processors, and am trying to do simulation using Multi-core technology and based on different simulation scenarios...starting from sequantial processing,.......Piple lining processing strategy. so that i can differentiate the time delay between those types of processing based on (Using 1 processor then dual-core processor Computers)
my question is: As i read through Ni's white papers i saw many notes refer to Real-time execution trace toolkit to investigate the (processing-time , etc) of multi-core processors in processing diffenent algorithms. My algorithms are to be run on 1 computer with dual-core processor BUT, not in real time environments, that is ( No hardware to be connected to my pc) only algorithms running on my pc....
So, is it possible to use Real time execution trace toolkit  or anyother tools in LabVIEW to show processing-delays and/or anyother timing critical issues without using my application for  real- time hardware.???
in other words: how to use Real time execution trace toolkit  in non-hardware and/or real-time scenarios???
    please help me in this.
Any suggestion, comments, feedback.....is absolutely highly appreciated
    thanks a lot in advance
    Labview Lover

    Hey,
The Realtime Execution Trace Toolkit only works for NI RT Targets.
But you can use the Desktop Execution Trace Toolkit, just search for it under ni.com.

  • Will CS4 Extended work with Intel Core 2 Duo?

Considering purchasing a CS4 Extended for my OS X v10.4.11 with Intel Core 2 Duo, but reading here I need a multicore Intel processor...
There's no way I could make it work with my processor at all?

Since it says it will run on a G5 I imagine it would run on your newer Intel Mac.  I think that's what the "Duo" means - multi core.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core#Core_Duo

  • With intel core 2 duo it's possible more RAM? in early imac 2006

I could change the processor core duo per core 2 duo of my IMAC, that is from early 2006... the cuestion is: the description of this mac says that only works with 2 gb of ram, but with the new processor it can upgrade this RAM, per 3 or 4 gb?
    Thanks for your answer

You actually were able to change the processor to a Core 2 Duo in that machine? I've only heard of one other person who did this, but it did not work too well for them. Also, they did it so they could upgrade to Lion and that did not work either: the App Store recognized the machine ID as one with a Core Duo and would not allow them to install Lion. So if you changed yours to a Core 2 Duo to get Lion, your efforts were wasted.
As for allowing for more RAM - since people do not replace processors on iMacs in general, no one here will probably be able to answer your question.

And I'm just about to purchase a Mac Book Pro as well.

I also have a 4 year old iMac 24". it is the 3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo. I have been running Mountain Lion since it was released, and before that Lion. Runs great. Over the last month I have noticed some slow data transfers from a USB harddrive. But not enough to do any research. I use a USB harddrive for my Time Machine backup and notice no problems or slow transfers while the Time Machine backup runs. My iTunes has its nedia files on a USB harddrive and is used to watch videos, play music and share photos on the AppleTV. I also use Aperture on the iMac to store and manage 20,000 photos.
I have 6 GB of ram, 4GB and 2GB memory sticks. I know it is best to have identical ram sticks but my iMac model cannot run 8GB of ram and I feel 6GB is better than 4GB.
Mountain Lion is a great OS and I am glad I upgraded. It works great with the AppleTV (no airplay but iTunes on the iMac serves up all our music, photos and videos), iPhone, and iPod Touch. Also with my wifes brand new Macbook Pro. All the devices including the iMac can share data on iCloud.
