Hard drive failed, transfer ipod classic & ipad back to new drive?

Our windows laptop died and of course we replaced it with a macbook. have both an ipod classic and an ipad with music and apps that need to get on the new macbook. do it myself and how? or just let a genius do it? will they if i bought the mac from amazon?

For your iPad, you can connect to iTunes while holding the command and option keys down until the iPad appears under devices in iTunes.  This will prevent syncing.  Then use the iTunes File menu > Transfer purchases from XXX's iPad.
This $20 app for your iMac will allow you to transfer any non-iTunes Store music and videos to your iMac:  http://www.ecamm.com/mac/phoneview/
This app can transfer music and videos from your iPod Classic:  http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/  There is a 30 day/1000 song free trial period.

  • Can i transfer ipod touch content to a new computer via the ipod touch

can i transfer ipod touch content to a new computer via the ipod?

    Yes.
But first, with iTunes open in the menu bar click Store > Authorize This Computer.
Then from the iTunes menu bar click File > Transfer Purchases From...
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
You don't need third party software to do this for iTunes purchases.

  • How do I sync my Ipod Classic 160gb with my new computer (windows 8). It synced with my old computer (windows XP) but not with my new one (windows8)

How do I sync my Ipod Classic 160gb with my new computer (Windows8).? It synced with my old computer (WindowsXP) but will not do so on the new computer?

    Hi Lechwe,
I had this issue recently, due to changing HD for an SSD.
In my case, since the library in my iPod was synced to the HD it was not syncing to the library in the SSD, though they were the same (had the same contents).
I found there's this checkbox in iTunes > iPod > [Settings] Music, called "Sync Music". Mine was unchecked, I guess due to iPod being synced to the old library. I marked the checkbox and clicked then in Sync. iTunes asked me if I was sure I wanted to sync the iPod with the "new" library, i clicked yes, and the it started determining the song to sync. Since the library was essentially the same (just a couple songs more in the new one), it synced the couple new songs and that was it.
    Hope it helps!
    Regards,
    Awlo.

i need to transfer my old ipad to my new ipad thro windows cos the files are to large for icloud? how do i do that? am very green at these matters!!

Connect your iPad to your computer in iTunes. Under the iPad settings under summary, check the box that says backup to this computer. Click apply. Then when you connect the new iPad you can restore that backup on the new one.

  • Ipod classic music back to iTunes library?

I Lost my iTunes library that had my music uploaded from CD.  I have downloaded iTunes again but it only has new purchased music.  my ipod Classic has all the old music on it, how can I transfer the files to my new iTunes?

You can manually do it by first showing the hidden files, and then dragging them as a group to your machine.
I asked a similar Q, and got the same lame answer.
At least w/ iPads there is a backup option w/ iTunes ..
try RealPlayer on a Win7 machine

  • Transfer ipod to ipad

How do I transfer entire contents of my ipod nano (purchased and downloaded) to my ipad?

    Often, you dont need to.
If you bought them off iTunes, you can download them from your iPad straight away.
If you dont have the latest version, connecting the iPod to your computer should ask you if you want to transfer purchases. If you use the same account on your computer as you did to buy the stuff, then tell it to transfer content. Just select the new content next time you sync your iPad and Bob's your uncle.

  • IPod Classic's Back & Forward Button Work The Wrong Way

As I was clicking through the podcast episodes on my new iPod Classic 120GB I had to find out that if I wanted to go forward one episode I had to click the back button because if I clicked the forward button it would take me to the previous episode.
Also when I finish listening to a podcasts episode it does not jump to the next episode but to the previous episode.
I looked at the settings of the iPod but didn't find any options that would change the behavior of the iPod. I also thought it might be a sorting issue but I couldn't find anything that would change this either, nor could I find any setting in iTunes.
Is there a problem with my settings or a problem with the iPod itself?

Well it's a very strange feature!
Seriously, iTunes and the iPod catch and play Podcasts much better than some other Podcast Catchers and MP3 players I've tried but this is one of the few strange "features" about the Podcast capability of the iPod that let it down. Working on the philosophy that "even if you are ahead, don't stop trying to improve" Apple should at least consider the following:
    1. User facility to reverse the play order of Podcasts
    2. An indication that only part of a Podcast episode has been played (in addition to the existing blue {unplayed} spot)
    3. Indication of the "episode time" in the menu, (so that I know if I have enough time to listen to that episode. One programme can have episodes of very different lengths.)
... and yes, I have put these in as suggestions.

  • Ipod classic goes back on by itself

When I set the timer on my ipod classic to go off, the music stops; but a few minutes later it frequently spontaneously begins to play again.  By then I usually am not listening, so it continues without stopping.

If this problem, started after a recent Sync, does the songs skipped in iTunes?
if it does not, then you could try the Hard Reset
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.

  • IPod Classic / ipad

Hi, can I update my iPod Classic from my ipad?  If how can I do it, thanks

    Hello Vankick,
iTunes is software that only works on the Mac or Windows. You will have to plug in your iPod Classic to your computer. iTunes will recognize it, and then you can update your iPod Classic.

No, Apple does not offer such a service. You might try something like Brasso, but generally nothing will really remove scratches.

  • IPod Classic stopped sync with new iTunes

Once iTunes went to version 11 my iPod Classic stopped syncing.  My iPod Touch will sync.  I prefer my Classic though.  It is recognized by iTunes, starts the first step of the sync process but that shuts down and doesn't sync.  It doesn't freeze my machine just won't launch the sync process.  My library is on my iPod from the last time it would sync, but anything I've bought since won't load to the device.  I ran the diagnostic and it fails at the end saying no device found, which is weird since it appears in my iTunes, tells me how much audio and files I have and reflects that I have 16GB available.  I've tried tons of the tips on here, changed settings, checked and unchecked all kinds of boxes, changed USB ports, etc., and nothing has worked.  Has anyone else had this issue since the v.11 series of iTunes came out?
