So my computer crashed and I had to whipe my HD. Can I transfer my music from my iPod to my PC or iTunes library. Obviously I don't have any other back-up for my music.

The hard drive died on my old PC as I was transferring files to the new PC. Most data made it but my daughter's ITunes was not one of the things that made it. OK, my iMac G5 hard drive failed....I had no good backup of my iTunes library, except on my iPod mini.....so, I thought that all I had to do was copy my library from my mini to my iMac.
Problem is, I can't seem to do this. Can anyone help?

Applications won't transfer from ipod to itunes

I recently got a new computer and I'm having trouble with transferring the applications. Whenever I click transfer purchases from ipod to itunes, nothing happens and when I go into the itunes store logged into my account and try to download previously bought applications, it makes me repurchase it. The hard drive on my old computer was damaged. I had not backed up all of my iTunes library to either a DVD or external drive. My iPod classic has about 6,300 songs. I just purchased a new computer. Hey there again, here's another answer.
Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library.There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, before you connect the iPod go to the iTunes preferences and select "devices", then select "disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods".
An alternative method is to connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'control+shift' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.
When you've pressed cancel your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list under "devices" and allow you to change the update setting to manage the iPod content manually, and that will let you use your iPod for the time being without the risk of accidentally erasing the contents.
Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola and iDump and iPodRobot.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

Can't transfer from iPod to iTunes after Hard Disk re-format

Hi. I have an iPod classic and iTunes. Recently, I had to re-format my hard drive after a system crash. I thought I had my audio files backed up to an external hard drive, but it turns out they didn't copy. So, I'm trying to restore the audio files from my iPod. There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes. The first link below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method if you have a PC as well as a few third party applications (for both the Mac and PC) if you choose to go that route instead. You can also do a simple Google search for "copy music from iPod to computer" and you should receive a number of sites that can help you out.
Just make sure that when you have your iPod plugged into your computer, that you don't hit "Erase and Sync" before completing the task of copying your music over.
Also, if you have any purchased music, you will probably have to re-authorize your computer by heading to the Store drop down menu and choosing "Authorize computer."

My old computer fried so i purchased a new computer. Is there any wat to copy the tunes adn photos from my IPOD to my new computer? The photos are more inmportant as I can rebuild the tunes. Please advise.

I have a 60GB iPod and my desktop's hard drive is full therby preventing me from downloading anymore to my iPod. I have a 300GB external hard drive that I want to move everything to, especially my iPod Library. HELP!! How do I do it?

There's also another method. I've successfully tested this across several different Windows PCs.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), there's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
The above methods may depend on what version of iTunes you are running.
If none of these methods work, try CopyPod. This does preserve playlists/playcounts/ratings.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

Need to transfer from iPod to iTunes after storing iTunes on external drive

Hello,
Question: How do I safely transfer the library from the iPod tp iTunes?
Background: I tried to move my iTunes to a LaCie external hard drive and now my music library is not showing up on iTunes. The complete music library is on my iPod and I would like to know how to copy it back to iTunes.
Currently when I attach the iPod to the computer it gives me an error message that the iPod is connected to a different library.
Some more details:
- When I opened iTunes again after attempting to transfer it to the external hard drive there was a brief set up and then the purchased songs were transfered and those songs are the only ones showing up now on the computer's iTunes.
- I did change the settings under preferences to move iTunes to the D drive (the external hard drive).
- I also tried consolidating the library. It only showed the purchased songs.
How do I safely transfer the library from the iPod tp iTunes?

Safari fails to open after recent hard drive replacement and data transfer from time machine

The hard drive was replaced by apple under replacement scheme due to seagate failures. It was reloaded with latest ios, but safari would not open, reported failure.
I had re -installed my backed up info from time machine. i did go into back ups and copied previous safari app, and dropped it on my desk top. It opened ok. Is there an easy way to get this app onto the system and delete the faulty safari file.

guess what, all fixed, the safari app installed by apple on new hard drive was 5 something, but 6.02 was needed, i installed 6.02 but it told me i needed OSX10.8.2 which cost me £13.99 but it now works.
