Hard drive too small to hold all my music

I have an iBook that I got from my aunt for graduation that I am using to load music into my new iPod. Unfortunately there is only a 9 gig hard drive on the computer, so i cannot keep all my music files on it. Is there any way to avoid having all the music i delete from my hard drive deleted from my ipod by itunes whenever I update my music?

Set your iPod to manually update songs and playlists (Preferences>iPod).
You can now add music to the iPod and delete it from your library.
Although there exist utilities to copy the files from iPod to computer again, I wouldn't recommend to use it as a backup medium.
It may get stuck, requiring a restore (loosing all contents), it could get lost, broken, stolen etc.
If your music is precious to you back it up on an external HD, CD or DVD.

60 GB Hard Drive too small?

I recently purchased a Intel Mac Mini and after copying my files and music I only have 13GB left. I didn't upgrade because that size has sufficed in the past. I have 15GB of music in ITunes and about 1GB of other files and then the apps which I have no idea. Any ideas on how to free some space other than getting rid of the music. I figured I would have about 30GB left????

Possibly consider getting rid of some of the iLife applications (or other apps) you know you won't be using? I got rid of things like iWork and Quicken, since I mainly use art programs, and it freed up a few GB. You'll have these programs on your installer discs if you need them at some point.
Also, instead of getting a new hard drive for your Mini, just get an external USB drive. An inexpensive 60GB bumps you up to 120 available space. And don't underestimate backing up files you're not working on to CD - I have a lot of large Photoshop files in my CD archive that would really eat up hard drive space if I kept them there.

I recently purchased a new Windows 7 computer. I copied my music from my old Windows XP computer using an external hard drive. I can see all the music, album artwork, etc. when I activate iTunes. However, no songs (purchased or uploaded) will play.

you need to do a backup on your itunes and it should put all ur musics back on. that is if it was saved on your itunes.

MacBook Air Hard Drive too small - can I run applications from an external drive or is there a better solution?

I just got a MacBook Air 11" 10.7.2 2GB/64GB. I love it, but the internal drive is sooo small. Occasionally I need to take projects home from work or travel with my computer. Is there any way to run apps (Final Cut Studio, CS5, Office 10, etc) from an external drive? I am trying to convert over from my Macbook Pro (running Snow Leopard) and I can't seem to find a solution.

It's best to keep your applications on the internal drive and consider external storeage for your data.
Your choices are direct attached storeage to the USB port (external portable USB drives), storeage on your home or work network, or cloud-based storeage, like DropBox.
You can also look at slimming down your OSX installation on your MBA by removing unwanted fonts and printer drivers.
Btw, you will struggle to run CS5 and Final Cut Studio on a MBA with 2GB RAM. Only install the applications you really need on your MBA.

Yes. Find the LR catalog file by looking in Edit/Catalog Settings/General. Close LR and navigate to that spot. The catalog file is the one that ends in .lrcat - move it to wherever you want. Next to the .lrcat file is a subfolder called Previews.lrdata. You can move that over as well, but if you don't LR will generate new previews. Double-click on the .lrcat file in its new home and LR will open with that catalog. Set Preferences to When Starting Up Use Most Recent Catalog.

We developed a SSIS Package to pull the data From Oracle source to Sql Server 2012. Here we used ADO.Net source to pull the records from Source but getting the below error after pulling some 40K records.

* Having schema type as Nvarchar(max). - Getting the same error.

I had all my iTunes music backed up onto a hard drive; but the hard drive was stolen along with all the files I backed up onto it. However, the songs I had in iTunes still show up (I just can't play them.) Would it let me get them back?

Open iTunes, go to the iTunes Store, and then go to Purchased on the right hand side under Music Quick Links.
You can re-download all the songs, apps, or books you have previously purchased.
I'm not sure if this is a requirement, but just in case, make sure you download the latest version of iTunes (v10.3) too.

If what doesn't work?
If cloning your internal drive to the external drive is not successful, I expect CCC will tell you so. Assuming that doesn't happen, you will have a bootable replica of the internal drive on the external drive once CCC has finished.
You can then do any of several things:
1. Replace your internal drive with a much larger one (320GB or 500GB, or even larger), and clone the external drive's contents onto the new drive so you'll have all your data in one place. Note that if you do this, you'll also need to buy an external drive that's large enough to back the new internal drive up on.
2. Boot from the external drive as a temporary measure while you clear at least 30-40GB of data off the internal drive, allowing you to keep using it and saving small amounts of data to it. The external drive will then contain the only copies of the files you've deleted from the internal drive, so you'll need a seond external drive large enough to back both the other drives up on.
If you can't comfortably clear a minimum of 30GB off the internal drive, you really need a larger internal drive right now, and you shouldn't bother fooling around with the inadequate one you have — you'll just quickly overfill it again.
3. Replace the optical drive in your MBP with a large conventional hard drive, giving you two hard drives inside the machine. You will then need one or more external drives large enough to back up both of the internal drives.
If you sense a theme here — back up, back up, back up — you are correct. It's flat-out foolhardy to own or use a computer without maintaining complete, up-to-date backups of everything at all times.

My iPad contents probably 75% of my iTunes library, but I'm scared to sync just in case in wipes the entire contents. I know I should of backed up but it was one of them jobs I never got round too (will def do now if my problem is solved)

If all of your media is from iTunes, don't worry about it. You can either transfer everything on your iPad from your iPad to your commputer; and/or you can redownload from iTunes all music and apps, and most of everything else.
If any of your media is from other sources, that's not so easily recoverable. If it's on your iPad, you can transfer it to your computer via a third-party application such as Senuti. (There are many alternatives to Senuti, some work just as well and are free.) Anything from non-iTunes sources and not on your iPad is completely gone, unless you have CDs or other physical media from which you obtained it stored somewhere.
At least now you know how important it is to have a backup.

The simplest solution would to restore from your back up - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4112
If you do not have a back, you can select first track on list in song view, from menu > edit > select all. Next ctrl+click and select download from pop up. You may wish to do this in small batches as it will take some time to download.

I am looking to have all my files in one place as i am hopelessly disorganised. I know the online clouds are a good solution (used Dropbox at work and uni for 3 years) however i am wanting to create my own 'dropbox/icloud' at home. So whenever i get back home with my laptop, any work i have been working on whilst out that day is updated to the timecapsule, and then ultimately as i turn on the other devices, they update to those newer versions of the files. Please tell me that the 3TB time capsule i have can do this, otherwise it feels rather overpriced as a wireless storage device?
Another note (to those in the know) If i am to be working on large files (REVIT/SOLIDWORKS/KEYSHOT/CREO/AUTOCAD) - is the timecapsule connection good enough to support editing and updating these files?
I know i may be asking a question that many have before, but as a bit of a technical novice I wanted a clear-cut answer to my specific circumstances. Your help is greatly appreciated.
(*can i use this WD hard-drive that is connected to the Time Capsule as a back up? so that the time machine back-ups/any back ups are also backed up onto this one? can the WD be a backup for the TC?)

I have over 2,000 images. I don't want to go back through each image and add meta data.

No, do not re-import your images. I assume you can see the thumbnails in the library module, just cannot access the full images, right? If this is the case there should be an exclamation mark in the top right corner of every one of your pictures and you only have to tell LR where the images are now.
Click the exclamation mark of one of the images and a dialog window should pop-up, telling you that LR cannot find the file, but with an option to locate it. Press "Locate" and navigate to the folder on your new HD where the file is. If in the new external HD you kept the same folder structure that you had on the internal disk, LR will be able to find all your images and re-link them to the database without further intervention.

Launch iTunes with the Option key held down, click on Choose Library, and specify it. If the external drive doesn't contain the iTunes database files, create a new library there and import that music.
If the library contains any rented movies, they won't play on a different computer.
