Hard Reset Nokia 6280

Anyone know how this is done - to revert the phone back to its factory condition?
I know my phone has customised Orange Software - just that its settings have been messed with so much since I had it I want to start afresh
Thanks

I dont want to get rid of the Orange Customisations.
And I have already done a factory SETTINGS reset that only resets the settings, I want to fully erase the phone and start off like it was when it came from the factory, including the Orange customisations.
Thanks

    Thanks,

No, you have to take it to a Nokia Service Centre to do a full factory reset

  • Missing Widgets after Hard Reset - Nokia Astound

Hi ~ I had to do a hard reset as my Nokia Astound was freezing up. The phone is working better but it deleted all of my data, of course. Now some of the widgets are gone as well - such as the Social Network one, You Tube and Visual Voicemail. Any way I can get these back? Thanks so much!

I know the pop up you are refering to. You had some applications installed on your memory card before the hard reset. The hard reset broke the link to those applications on the memory card which the phone then tries to restore after the the reset. My advice is to either reformat your memory card and reinstall everything from scratch or ignore the pop up, go through all yor apps, see which ones aren't working and reinstall them.
There is no need to do a factory reset after a full hard reset. See if that solves your profile issue.

  • Hard reset Nokia N97 without knowing lock password

I received this phone from our inventory at work.  I am not sure who used it before me.  But, I do not know the lock pass code.  How can I hard reset it without knowing the lock password.  Everything I try, I am prompted for the lock password except one attempt.  I held in the up arrow, shift key and back arrow while powering on.  This did some type of reset.  But, the lock password still is not 12345.
So, either the lock password for Nokia N97 is not 12345 by default, or this is not a true hard reset?
    Any ideas?

You could try changing the sim, it may be a sim lock code and not a phone lock code, I have my sim locked but if I change for spare sim the phone doesn't require a code it just starts ! Worth a try ?

  • Hard reset Nokia 3120 Classic

    Hello,
I have an old Nokia 3120 classic phone which I would like to use as my spare device however when I turn on this device it asks me for a security code, which I didnt set at all. Is there any other way to hard reset this device (other than going to the Service Centre, for which they would be charging exorbitant amounts anyway).

  • Battery after hard reset on Lumia 800

    Hi
A few days ago i did a hard reset on my Lumia 800. Since that everything was great, the only reason why i did it, to restore the default settings. After that i updated the firmware to 12070 via Zune. Since that day, my phone doesn't really know how much  percentages are left from the battery. Sometimes It's showing a consant value for a long time, then suddenly begins to drain, and after a few it stops. It often happens, that it shows a value, and after an hour it shows a higher value (in percentage) than beforehand.
Today I let It to discharge to 0%, and then i pluged it to the charger. When the phone turned on, it showed me 5%.
It's lifetime havent changed so spectacularly, but i guess its a bit shorter with the same usage.
Is this behaviour normal after hard reset?
    Thanks

After update my lumia 800 is failing to recongnise earphone. It keeps playing music on speaker. If I restart my phone then for few mins it is playing music in earphone. But after few mins once again music playback is starting through speaker.
what should be the problem? will hard reset solve this problem? If yes, how to hard reset nokia lumia 800.
    Thanks in adv,

  • Nokia 6280 problems (resetting), especially on '3'...

As per the request of a moderator (Karim) at the end of a different thread about the Nokia 6280, I am beginning a new thread here about the Nokia 6280 and problems people are encountering with it.
I was upgraded by my network operator '3' onto the Nokia 6280 phone, which arrived on Thursday 9th February 2006. This is a '3-branded' variant of the standard Nokia 6280, with a 3 logo on the front and back, and some 3-specific features in the software.
The phone looks great, and there are many good things about it, but there are some very weird bugs in the software:
    - The phone often resets itself (goes black, fast restarts) when changing profiles e.g. from 'General' to 'Silent'
    - When trying to change tones, the system seems to 'hang' after which no sound is produced from the phone OS (e.g. button presses, tone noises) until a hard reset is done
    - Various other bugs (not discovered by me, but mentioned by others in the previous thread) including text messages being interrupted half-way through, PIN request not being actioned even though activated, and media player issues.
My phone revision information is as follows:
    Nokia 6280
    V 03.36
    05-12-05
    RM-78
    (c) Nokia
    Language:
    V 03.36
    05-12-05
    RM-78
    (c) Nokia
    C
I am wondering about the following:
    - Does this phone support firmware updating?
    - If so, will Nokia provide a standard firmware update, or as my phone is a '3-variant' will I have to rely on 3 putting out a firmware update
    - Has anybody got any suggestions of how to proceed with this - I am within my 7 day return period, so could return it, but then I'd be without a phone and I'd prefer to keep the phone and have it fixed!
Anyone else with these issues, please join the thread, for clarity I suggest people include what network their phone is on, and the firmware revision of the phone. This can be discovered by tapping *#0000# on their phone.
    Thanks
    Floop

    Hi,
I upgraded my phone from 6630 to 6280 with 3 Network, three weeks ago. This is my third phone, and it's the same problem all over. After I transfer all my contacts and pictures etc via bluetooth, I tend to have a play around getting use to the new phone and without any warning the phone would just switch off. It would never switch on again. I tried recharging and leaving it overnight, nothing. Exactly the same thing happen to phone no.2 and no.3. Always when I just finished transferring contact details and pictures. I can't get it to switch on again. I am in the process of returning the 3rd 6280. I think I wouldn't bother with it.
I originally asked for N70, and 3 keep telling me that they don't have it in stock. The other options they have given me are Motorola V3X and LG 8330 which I'm not keen on really as I would prefer a Nokia phone.
Is this a known fault with 6280?. I will keep pressing 3 to give me the N70 or else. I am to the point of not bothering and just keep with my 6630.
Has anyone had the same problem?

  • Nokia N8 maps problems after hard reset.

I quote the sticky with the same title
    quote
There have been some cases where users have used the 3-fingered hard-reset method on their N8 devices and lost Ovi Maps in the process. It is not yet possible for N8 users to redownload the application from nokia.com/maps, a situation that will be fixed in the near future with a new release of the Maps application.
In the meantime, if you find yourself in this situation, please contact the Nokia Care line for your country, copies of the necessary SIS installation file have been distributed to contact centres to pass on to N8 users until the Maps web page is updated.
Please note that it is not wise in general to use the 'three-fingered suicide' as a method of troubleshooting issues with your phone, this procedure is intended to attempt to revive a device that will not boot, in which circumstances you already know that everything is going to be lost before starting.
    unquote
So I went to the local Nokia care line center nearby.  The technician told me in order to re install Ovi Maps on the phone I had to leave it for a few days under repair.   When I mentioned that it was purely software installation (and I only needed the SIS file) and not a technical repair and I could not leave my phone behind for several days the manager mentioned this was Nokia policy.  Obtaining the SIS file was not possible.
The manager himself mentioned "that is why I use an Iphone" and me as unpleased customer left this Nokia "we do not" care line center.
So be aware the if you want to have the ovi maps app reinstalled on the phone, it could well take a few days.
    Nomic.

Perhaps if you go over to Nokia Beta Labs: http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/ovi-maps-306
and ask nicely in the correct thread, you might find that kee takes pity on you. However since release of .sis file to Nokia Care Points whom can't be bothered with N8 woes as they consider carrying out a "hard reset" an own goal, they (Nokia Beta Labs) might now expect resolution via this method.

  • Hard reset for a nokia c6-00

My nokia c6-00 won't turn on how do I hard reset it and the battery is dead
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

have you tried it a few times or tried this
How do I format my Nokia device?
You can format your device by typing *#7370# in standby mode. Before the device is reset, you need to provide the lock code. The default lock code is 12345.
    IMPORTANT NOTICE!
Formatting the device will permanently erase all user data and settings as well as add-on applications and operator specific settings.
If you have made a backup of the device data, the data can be restored from the backup after formatting but some add-on applications can have restrictions that they are not restored from the backup.
If you use formatting to repair faulty behaviour of the device, restoring the backed-up data files may restore the unwanted behaviour as well. In that case, a partial restore may resolve the situation.
The contents of the SIM card and memory card (MMC) are not erased during formatting. Note, however, that in some device models (e.g. Nokia N8-00) the mass memory is formatted in this situation and it is therefore important that you have backed up all the data from your mass memory (E: mass memory) before resetting the device.

  • Nokia E71 hard reset and then....

Hi community, what happens is i perform a hard reset on my nokia e71, will i lost some software (that originally came with the phone)? or everything remains the same as when i bought it brand new?
    Solved!

@ Smorrissey, if I understand you correctly, then we agree that grschinon is the one beeing correct here.
@ Other users who search for help in this thread: Oposum is beeing a troll and should not be paid attention to. (I assume that oposum is refering to the "reset settings to factory default" manouver which would be *#7780# )...
people please understand, a sofware reset is provoked by software, a hardware reset is by hardware BOTH restore your phone to the brand new status.
If you only want to restore your settings the procedure is different.
Grschinon has already explained that in the posts above.

  • Nokia 700 hard reset

So this evening I backuped my phone and did a hard reset. It said that it will restart phone. I pressed okay and it turned off the phone and screen went black. Waited 5,10,15mins. Nothing appears on the screen and I can't even turn it on. Removed battery and put it back in and then it starts booting up [about 30-50seconds but usually it's faster] and then goes black screen like it's turned off.
    Any way to fix this?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The reset method above is not intended for public/general use to reset your phone. I is reserved for use as a last resort for a Nokia Care Point or repair centre before a flash of the phone to be able to bring it into a working state if it is not. This reset _will_ remove or make unusable some applications or may make the device become unstable.
The only two user-applicable options are:
Soft Reset; *#7780# possibly followed by security code (default is 12345)
This will reset the device settings to defaults. It does not delete any personal data or system files.
Hard Reset; *#7370 possibly followed by security code (default is 12345)
This will erase all custom data and return settings to default values. It will not change the system files.
If you used the key-combination method it would be a good idea to visit a Nokia Care point where they will be able to restore the original firmware (latest available version for your device) including apps or system files which will be removed using this reset method. This may not be covered under warranty though and will completely wipe all information from your device so make sure you create a backup in Nokia Suite before you have this done.
    Hope this helps,
    Kosh

Even i lost my memorable photos as well. Plz guys help me to get my files back Atleast photos

    @sukkuN8
There is no way back as hard reset deletes user data upon C:\ and E:\ unfortunately, if you did not backup beforehand.
