@mwakudumbuka
Suggested method on S40 device is "Restore All" via User Interface as here:http://www.nokia.com/gb-en/support/troubleshooting/?action=singleFAQ&caseid=FA91515_en_US
Can't use same procedures as exist for S60 devices so you may need to visit Nokia Care facility for device software to be re-installed.

  • What is the hard reset key of the Nokia C3-01?

What is the hard reset key of the Nokia C3-01?
When I was trying to update the software of C3-01 using the Nokia Ovi Suite, it said there was an error. Then the phone was shut down and can not turn it on any more.
I found the nokia website that says I can use the hard reset key for reset the hardware, but it doesn't show the hard reset key about the C3-01.
Do anyone know about the hard reset key of the Nokia C3-01?

  • HotSync won't update...hard reset not work

I was not getting my updates from several HotSyncs on my TX. Was receiving low memory messages, so I did several resets to no avail. I eventually did the hard reset and all of my data was removed. When I attempted to HotSync to restore the info, my laptop did not recognize the TX (device). I reloaded all the Palm Desktop software on the laptop and still no results. Where did I mess up? Thanks
    Post relates to: Palm TX

What happens when you try to sync? Do you get any error messages??
If you are getting the error message, "the connection between your device and the desktop cannot be established, please check your setup and try again" here is what you need to do.
Do you see the hot sync icon (circle with red and blue arrows) on the bottom right of your computer screen? Is there an arrow with the option to "show hidden icons"? If you do not see it there, hot sync will be disabled and you will keep getting that message (the connection between your device and the desktop could not be established...). To enable the hot sync program once again, click on Start > Programs/All Programs > Palm OS Desktop/Palm One > Hot Sync Manager. It will take about 5-10 seconds and the icon will be there once again. Now the sync should go through. When you begin sync'ing, the computer will prompt you, "there is no user name associated with this account..." select your old user name and then all the info will come back onto your palm.
I hope this works for you!

Are you sure you are doing it correcly?
A hard reset is performed by holding down the power button while sticking something thin (paper clip) into the back reset hole of your device. Keep your hand on the power button while you release the paper clip from the reset hole. The screen will now say "Palm Powered." Take your hand off the power button. You will now see a screen in 5 languages prompting you to erase all data from the palm. The screen will say "erase all data? Yes - up, no - down" and you need to click on the up arrow (silver button on the 5 way navigator on the bottom of the palm). This will erase all the info from your device.

  • Miix 2 10 freezing - hard reset not working

Hello! For the second time in a few days my miix 2 10 decided not to wake up again. The windows button makes it vibrate. But no reactions beside that. Last time the error disappeared after some time, I dont' know why. Would not be a big deal to me beside this fact: Right now I am not able to perform a hard reset. What are the options to do a hard reset? Is it pressing the power button for more than 10 seconds? Does not work. Pressing both volume and power button? Does not work. What to do? Any help is greatly appreciated! Kind regards,Jan

Got my Miix 2 10" on Monday 15. Performed a lot of Windows uptates, unistalled Mc Affee and connected a Bluetooth mouse. Then the tablet lost contact with the keyboard and track-pad. Tried to restore Windows, but got a message telling me no recovery partition was found. Then the screen went black. The tablet did not recognise the power switch, and it was impossible to reset or switch it off. Pressed the button for more than one minute. Funny thing is the mouse pointer from the bluetooth mouse moved around, but nothing else was visible. I could see in my router that the tablet was connected to my Wi-Fi, so it was not completely dead. Left it over-night and tested it in the morning, but still not able to wake it up or shut it down. Back from work in the evening it had obviously drained the batteries, and wake up normally when connected to the charger.  When the batteries was fully charged I switched it off (not sleep). It was not possible to switch it on again without using the charger. I have not been able to replicate this, but it is not a good feeling to have a mobile unit that can lock itself up completely, or not wake up without external power.... Windows log files indicates that it shut down because of power loss about 15 hours after the initial freeze. The bluetooth mouse was installed with standard Windows driver. Tablet is European / Nordic version manufactured 12. jan 2014. Bios is 95CN12WW, 25.12.2013. I do really hope Lenovo manage to sort of the trouble with this tablet. Its quite nice, and I like it except the scary feeling of being stuck with a brick.

  • Airport Express Base Station - hard reset not working?

Hi... I have 4 airport expresses, so it's not like I'm inexperienced... having reset them many times. I've had this one about a year. Hard reset and soft reset are happening (Airport got renamed from the name I gave it to "Base Station..") but I can't configure it. It asks me for a password. I've tried public and just about any other password that I might have previously given it... and I get an Error Code: -4. "An error occured while trying to access the base station. Make sure your network connection is valid and try again."
Does anyone have a clue as to what might be going on, or how to work around this? I don't have a usb to usb handy.
    Thanks, --- Alain

Thank you, Bob.  Switching  WEP 40 Bit worked like a charm.  I'll make sure and speak to FIOS about the level of security.  Now, excuse me while I go and rock out in my garage with AirTunes.

  • Just for variety - Hard Reset not working anyone ?

Anyone else having problems with actually getting their Time Capsule to Hard Reset (never mind the reasons for needing to reset in the first place!) ?
Depressing the reset button for 5, 10, 15 seconds doesn't produce amber blinking on the unit I'm just trying to set up, and doesn't appear to cause any changes either. And whilst depressing the reset whilst plugging in/powering on does produce fast amber blinking, once the unit eventually decides to get to a point where I can access it with Airport Utility, it does not appear to have reset to factory defaults, it still has my disk and network name, and passwords.
    Anyone else experienced this ?
The above aside, I did initially get it to raise a satisfactory Airport network for a while, but then just before I attempted an initial backup of one of the several machines it's supposed to be serving, I accepted a prompted firmware upgrade to 7.3.2, and from that point on, problems: Airport Utility couldn't find it for a while, disk intermittently wouldn't mount even over ethernet, etc, etc. Noticed on the board that some were feeling 7.3.2 was dodgy, so downgraded to 7.3.1 again (what it came with, I think), and even just had a stab at 7.3 - it's just not behaving at all now, on any version, though it can still occasionally be coached into providing an Airport network, and bridging ethernet, ok.
But throughout all this, I don't think I've actually managed to get it to properly hard reset even once.
Be very grateful to hear any thoughts or comments, or of any similar experiences - otherwise I guess it's back to the shop for a swap.
    Andy.

Hello moxim! Let's figure this out. I am sorry your device is still not working. After a Hard Reset, your next step would be to review warranty options. Please reply to my Direct Message, and I'd be happy to check into this further.
    Thanks,

  • AE only recognized by Macmini after hard reset, not by my Macbook

I did a hard reset on my AE after some network issues (couldn't access the internet) and after that only my Macmini could see the AE and do the admin settings. My Macbook still couldn't see my network so I changed the channel to 10 and suddenly my Macbook was able to recognize my network. Why is that? I should be able to do the install from my Mybook too, if I didn't had my Mini what would be my solution then. Is it some firmware or anything that the Macbook missing? Please help!
    Thx
MacBook Core2Duo/ Mac mini intel core duo Mac OS X (10.4.8)
MacBook Core2Duo/ Mac mini intel core duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Machines manufactured in Europe can see channels 1-13.
Machines manufactured in America can see channels 1-11.
Airport when initially set up defaults at channel 13.
If your airport base station is broadcasting on channel 13 and your macbook has been made or is using hardware made in america it will be unable to recognize channel 13.
Changing the default channel to something lower than 11 usually works.
If you didnt have your mac mini then you would run a direct ethernet cable between you express and your mac, and airport admin utility will be able to see the base station.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhone 4s will not turn on or hard reset?

iPhone turned itself off? Won't turn back on? Hard reset not working? Keep reading...
When this happens, your iPhone is stuck in sleep mode. Normally, you can alleviate the problem by doing a hard reset, but in this case nothing works. This problem can spring up from time to time even if your phone has a decent amount of battery life left. There could be any number of reasons your phone keeps getting stuck in sleep mode, but these are my speculations: a) overheating, b) overexposure to moisture/high humidty, c) software overload/app crashes, or d) phone storage at or near capacity.
You realize that the normal fixes aren't going to work, so here's how to fix it:
    1. Place phone in ziploc bag in freezer for ~15 minutes.
    2. Place phone in bag of dry rice for ~30 minutes.
    3. Use another phone to call your phone (you'll notice you still hear a ringback as if your phone is on). Keep calling. After each call, try to turn your phone on using the reset method or simply using the lock button.
After several calls (or one if you're lucky), your phone should either turn on, or tell you to hook it up to a charger. Hook it up to iTunes just to be safe. If you're still seeing a dead, black screen, take it to the Apple store
Did it work for you? Thoughts? Suggestions? Leave a comment.

    Check this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281.
Usually a reset will help. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. This can take up to 20 seconds if the device is unresponsive.

  • The hard reset

I would like to know what content will get lost if I do a hard reset *#7370# on a Nokia 6300? Should I remove the memory card before I do that? Is this type of reset going to also reset the default firmware of the phone that was installed when I bought it? (when I bought the phone it was v4.xx now I have it  to v7.21.)
    Greece Nokia X6 RM-559 v40.0.002
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The *#7370# code works only on S60 smartphones, it does nothing on S40 phones like the 6300.
The only way that you can fully reset your phone is to perform a software update - expect all data in the phone memory to be wiped and the phone to be like a new phone fresh out of its box afterwards. Memory cards are not affected. You can back up all of your data using Content Copier in PC Suite and restore it afterwards.

  • IPod Classic 120GB is not recognized by computer even after hard reset

I have an iPod Classic and it recently would act like it was playing music but was not in reality. I ended up having to hard reset the iPod. Now that it has been reset it will not sync with my computer. I hook it up and the screen reads +do not disconnect+ my iTunes will not recognize that there is an iPod connected and when I open My Computer it often freezes or tells me that I need to reformat the iPod for it to be recoginzed by Windows. I do not have the option to format it to FAT 32 though. What do I do??

    This is my iPOD
    iPod (touch wheel)
All iPod (touch wheel) models have a FireWire port cover. Scroll wheel models don't, and dock connector models don't have a FireWire port. The iPod (touch wheel) model controls look similar to the iPod (scroll wheel) but the touch wheel itself does not turn. iPod (touch wheel) models are considered second generation iPod models. The top of an iPod (touch wheel) model is shown here:
I went into the link and looked at the 5 R's. Nothing there. I couldn't restore the iPod if I wanted considering I would need to connect my iPod to the Computer which I cannot do.
Putting iPod into Disk Mode - did not work - I tried the click wheel instructions, but it did nothing at all....it was totally unresponsive. then I went and did the *If you have an older iPod model without a Click Wheel* instructions get to the fourth step where it says
*When the Apple logo appears, immediately press and hold the Previous and Next buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.*
but the Disk Mode screen does not appear. It goes straight to ""ok to disconnect"
Is there something else going on or something trivial that I could be doing that could be messing up these instructions?

  • My iPhone 4G died and will not turn on with hard reset.

My iPhone 4G died and will not turn back on. I got an e-mail and then took a phone call. After ending the call I went to text, but nothing. Screen was black with no warning. I plugged it up on a charger and nothing. I tried a soft rest and a hard reset and still nothing. I have it plugged up to my computer and without it coming on it will not recognize it on iTunes to do a restore. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Is this fixable or should I write it off and replace the phone? It is 1yr and 1 month old.
    Thanks,
    John

It's been a day and no luck, so I guess I have to get a new battery?
