Hard to see multiple tabs without their favicon icons?

HI thanks for reading this.
It's time for me to consider using Safari as my default browser as it makes better sense as I have retina display now.
I like the extensions that come with Safari, but a little surprised there's so little out there.
There are two things missing in Safari which is stopping me from switching from Firefox.
T A B S
When I open many tabs, I realize its hard to decipher which tab is what as its text only.
The text on the tabs don't necessarily correspond to the website name which gets very confusing when trying to find your way back to opened tabs.
eg. I am on IMDB, and the tab is the name of the movie or this page right now says Start New D...
Most of them I don't remember what they were.
Is there a way that Safari can load the favicon on the tabs? This was a big + for Firefox as it was visually recognizable and makes browsing a lot faster.
I know there is the pinch view but if I have over 10 tabs, its way too clumsy to swipe to get to the right one if I need to go to a site pronto.
S A V I N G  I M A G E S  T O  P R E S E T   F O L D E R S
Secondly, I love the "Save Image to Folder" extension for Firefox.
In fact I can't live without it.
I collect many references while browsing. I have over 20 folders that I have preset that I can drop images into from a website.
When I see an image that inspires me, I right click and highlight the folder that I wish to save it in.
Thats it. Boom!! (as Steve Jobs would say) and makes life very easy for users.
Is there a way Safari can do this?
Is it hard to make an extension for it?
If you have any recommendations or even to other great extensions not on the Apple page, please advise thank you.

You can adjust the sidebar size in System Preferences > General > Large
The toolbar doesn't allow for customizations, but try System Preferences > Accessiblity > Zoom
Another option is to turn on icon & text for toolbar. Icons are generally easier to recognize. You can add cusotom icons to folders if it's a generic blue folder.
The new larger monitors make everything smaller. Try System Preferences > Display settings and choose a different resolution. I've never been happy changing from the default however. Really wish they still made a 24" monitor for the iMac.

  • Multiple emails with their own icons for q10!!!!! And Hide option missing?

    As i understood, it is at this time impossible to have email icon outside HUB. I dont like that because many of us enjoyed having separate email account icons. For multiple reasons. One of them is privacy. If I want to use HUB, but still want to have few email accounts NOT listed in HUB, i dont have that option. Also option to HIDE any icon is not available which is preety incredible.... I kindly ask developers to add this issue. One more reason is if more people are using same smartphone. I am using 9700, I bought to my wife q10, but now I wont buy q10 for myself because for me it is absolutely essential to have HIDE and separate emails not included in Hub option. Option like "integrate this account or dont integrate( email, fb, twitter, sms, whatever) in HUB would solve issue. Please let me know if there is a plan in future to develop app or update to fix this issue. If anyone has any info or solution please let me know. Thanks, Igor.

    Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    Please look deeper...I suspect that what you desire is almost completely attainable, just in a different way. You may need to consider upgrading the Q10 OS as some of this is not available in the early OS levels, but is fully available in the most recent (10.2.1.2141).
    There are two HUB things to consider -- the Hub itself, and the Hub Messages List.
    The Hub itself is what appears when you have any Messages list displayed, and then you pull to the right (sometimes also called the Hub Peek Menu)...it is the selection of different messaging accounts that has been integrated to the device. As such, this replaces the Legacy BBOS homescreen individual icons...they are still individual, just accessed via a different means. You have complete control over the order of this list...you can re-arrange it such that those accounts that matter to you most are at the top, and those less important are at the bottom. You can't hide any of them, but you can push them down the list out of your way. (I honestly don't understand the desire to hide a message account selector anyway...if you are going to hide it, just remove it from integration to the device.)
    The Hub Messages List itself can be controlled as to which accounts display within it. Just like in Legacy BBOS, the Hub Messages List can be configured as a unified list showing messages from all accounts, some accounts, only a few accounts, or none at all. You select, account by account, which show in the Hub Messages List Only, their individual account only, or in both.
    BB10 is very very different from Legacy BBOS...but, like all technology things, the "best" one is the one that the user has become the most familiar with. In time, I'm sure that you will find that BB10 can be equally as optimally used as legacy BBOS...you just have to give yourself time to get used to it, and try to not expect it to be identical to BBOS.
    Lastly, no one here in this user-user-community can reveal if they know anything about the future plans that BB has. Such information is simply not knowable by the users who volunteer their time here to help others (or, if they do happen to know, revealing it would be a violation of the site Ts and Cs plus any NDA that the individual may be bound by).
    Good luck!

  • Switching between multiple tabs?

    I am currently running Safari 3.2.1, haven't updated to 4 yet...Does anyone know a keyboard shortcut to switch between multiple tabs? Like you can "command+tab" to switch between multiple applications...If I have 2,3,4, etc tabs open in a single window, is there a command to switch between those multiple tabs without using my mouse???

    Simpatico wrote:
    it´s such a pity that Safari cannot abide by industry practice (IE, Chrome, Firefox) some command key + no of tab, instead of associating that to bookmarks.
    What happens after 9 tabs? I regularly have 15+ open.

  • Would there happen to be a way so save images from not one, but multiple tabs in firefox instead of clicking through every single tab? Thanks.

    Usually when I'm browsing through random photos, either for work or for leisure, I always middle click them to open a new tab. So again, is there a way to save images from multiple tabs without cycling through each tab, right-clicking, deleting that tab then going to the next? Help is much appreciated.

    An alternative to middle clicking all the image links is just to use the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/201/ DownThemAll] extension with its [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/12577/ anti-container] companion to choose the images you want to download from the original page of random photos.

  • TOC Overlay tab hard to see

    I'm using the TOC in overlay mode and, when I publish and view the file, the TOC tab is very hard to see. I don't expect a viewer to notice it or even realize it's anything worth clicking (see below image).  Anyone know of a solution to this ... or workaround?

    Hi there,
    Whilst there isn't any way of changing the TOC overlay icon - unfortunately this is something that is generated at run-time. Captivate does include a TOC button in the playback control
    If you would like to see a way of customizing the overlay tab in a future version of Adobe Captivate, then please do submit this as a feature request by clicking on the link I have included below.

  • Even after enabling "Warn me when closing multiple tabs", firefox closes without any warning even if multiple tabs are open.

    I recently installed Firefox 4.0 and in the options, under the section "Tabs", I have enabled "Warn me when closing multiple tabs". But if I have multiple tabs opened with websites loaded in them, and then try to close the browser, it simply closes. No warnings are shown (which was there in previous versions). Couple of times I clicked on the close button of browser and then realized that I had some important sites opened in different tabs, which I lost as it didn't warn me. Can you please let me know whether this is a bug or a mistake from my side?

    I'm sure you are using Private Browsing mode in Firefox 4. I have also the same problem and I tried to uncheck this option after many times accessing about:config\browser.warnOnquit. And it's wonderful, the warning cameback. I think it's a bug about Private Browsing mode. Hope Mozilla's Developers will fix it.

  • I have only one window open, and get a warning when I exit that "You are about to close multiple tabs."

    I have Firefox 8 for Vista, and according to the "About" screen, Firefox is up to date. I heard this might be a problem with my plugins, so I updated them all. Still a problem. I disabled all my plugins and add-ons and still got the message.

    ONLY 8 people have this problem?
    Look, virtually all Mozilla's potential users are coming from Internet Exploder, which gets this ALMOST RIGHT, while FireF*x does it totally wrong. Including in webmail: there's no way I could have got to this forum without leaving 4 windows active or closing everything, including closing my mail without logging out.
    ONLY 8 PEOPLE? How many thousand simply throw up their hands & uninstall yr f- nurdware over this one single issue? Not to bore you with details, but I'm hardly unsympathetic to open sources that don't look like the best argument for Micros**t and Google hegemony.
    Btw, I said they get it -almost- right... It would be really nice if IE or >somebody< offered a checkbox to NEVER close multiple tabs. Look, if this bug disguised as a feature is useful to a few nurds by all means keep it as an advanced option, but PLEASE set up FireFox so it at least defaults to the real world.

  • How can I actually open multiple tabs of the same site, instead of performing the new "switch to tab" action?

    For example, sometimes I would like to open multiple tabs of Google Maps to get directions to multiple locations, and I haven't found a way to do so without open a new instance of the browser. Thanks.

    This one colors tabs, but the author warns that it doesn't work with other tab-related extensions, so you probably need to keep searching for one that does everything you want:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/colorfultabs/
    If you don't find a do-it-all extension, you can modify the tab titles with a userscript that is specific to that website. This is because the tab displays the text designated in the page as its title.
    You either could "hard code" the list of words for each of the pages, or you could have a script extract information from the page, for example, the first main heading, or some other predictable bit of data. The script then would insert your preferred wording as the title of the page and Firefox will show that on the tab.
    To see how that appears, so you know whether it would be useful, you could do this experiment:
    On a web page that has useless tab text, open the Web Console using command+alt+k (Windows: Ctrl+Shift+k). In the line at the bottom next to the caret, paste the following code and press Enter:
    document.title="Magic!";
    If you decide you want a script written for this, you could try the request forum on userscripts''.''org:
    [http://userscripts.org/forums/2 Ideas and script requests - Userscripts.org]
    Although some people offer small payments, that usually isn't necessary to motivate people to help.
    Let me give you a brief warning about that site, though: over the past year, a lot of popular scripts were duplicated and reposted with additional code that hijacks your Facebook account. Be cautious when installing scripts, check the reviews, make sure there are no references to Facebook.

  • Multiple tabs with flash or heavy js crash firefox

    Has been may years already that this keeps happening to me if i open around 150+ tabs (depends on the content of the tabs) or if i open 20+ tabs of youtube (might happen with other video platforms too but i haven't tested that) makes firefox crash after a brief amount of time. I've been using the same profile since mid 2012 but I do make clean new installs of firefox when a new whole version comes out. My pc hardware i think is more than suitable to be able to have that ammount of tabs open (12 GB RAM triple channel ddr3 1ghz intel i7 950 @ 3.07ghz 1024MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 6800 series on w7 x64).
    I tried creating a new clean profile and opened 50 youtube tabs have all of them playing at the same time and even though at the start there was some kind of slowness for the firt 10 seconds then all was perfect and I tested it for like 5 mins and it didnt crash. Back with my profile I used the about:addons-memory to see fit here was any leak of memory from the addons but the addons consumption was really low. Although firefox itself with 150 tabs uses like between 900 and 1400mbs of memory. I've tried disabling all the add-ons and then enabling some to see if there was a conflictive add-on but i couldn't find whats causing the problem so i wanted to ask you guys if you could lend me a hand so i can finally can open as many tabs as i want without having to fear a crash.

    I had/still have an issue with FF which is virtually identical to this (se https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/988435?esab=a&s=&r=0&as=s).
    Mostly on script/flash heavy pages (like YouTube, Google Play, Twitter, etc) with only a small number of tabs will result in nearlly 1-1.2GB RAM usage and eventually crash. Having looked through older crash reports here is a list of the most common problems (Note: I recently tried a fresh install so don't have the Crash Report Numbers for these anymore):
    Crash Cause
    js::ScriptSource::hasSourceData() x 3
    NS_ABORT_OOM(unsigned int) x 5
    gfxContext::PushClipsToDT(mozilla::gfx::DrawTarget*) x 10
    js::AutoCompartment::AutoCompartment(js::ExclusiveContext*, JSObject*) x 7
    Of Which
    EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_READ x 21
    EXCEPTION_BREAKPOINT x 5
    I used to be able to run FF with almost 60+ Add-ons up to 60+ Tabs and still have it work more or less OK; obviously it could be rather sluggish and was eating into 1GB RAM or so, but it at least worked. Now I can barely run it with 53 Add-ons and less than 10 Tabs for around 30 mins to 1 hour before an inevitable crash.

  • Is there a way to select MULTIPLE tabs and then copy ALL of the the URLs and titles/or URLs+titles+HTML links? This can be done with the Multiple Tab Handler add on; However, I prefer to use a Firefox feature rather than download an add on. Thanks.

    Currently, I can copy ONE tab's url and nothing else (not its name). Or I can bookmark all tabs that are open. However, I'd like to have the ability to select multiple tabs and then copy ALL of the the URLs AND their titles/or copy ALL of the URLs+titles+HTML links? This can be done with the Multiple Tab Handler add on; when I download the add on, I get a message saying that using the add on will disable Firefox's tab features. I prefer to use Firefox features rather than download and use an add on. Is there a way to do this without an add on?

    Hi LRagsdale517,
    You should definitely be able to upload multiple files by Shift-clicking or Ctrl-clicking the files you want to upload. Just to make sure you don't have an old version of the service cached, please clear the browser cache and then log in to https://cloud.acrobat.com/files. After clicking the File Upload icon in the upper-right corner, you should be able so select multiple files for upload.
    Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,
    Sara

  • How can I navigate through tabs without using the mouse?

    I want to know how to navigate through tabs without using a mouse... just like you can navigate through multiple windows by using <alt><tab> ... because it's extremely annoying when I'm working on something to have to take my hands off the keyboard and go to the mouse.

    You can also use Ctrl + Page Up and Ctrl + Page Down to go to the next and previous tab. I prefer those because it doesn't require the Shift key (Shift + Ctrl+ Tab) to go to the previous tab.

  • Firefox 25.0.1 Warn when closing multiple tabs (on) conflicts with "show windows und tabs from last time" (on); need both, but only one or the other works.

    Using Firefox 25.0.1 on Windows 7 Home Premium
    I've poured through support forums for Mozilla Firefox searching for a fix to my initial problem of the "Warn when closing multiple tabs" pop up not popping up when I have it selected.
    Went through About:Config, making sure warnings for tabs und closing, und showing on quit, und quitting, etc. were all set to true, which were "possible" fixes for the issue I was having, there are like five or six things set to true for warnings/quitting/etc. No avail. They are all set to true.
    Then I stumbled across one that suggested a conflict with the "Warn When Closing Multiple Tabs" und the "Show Windows und Tabs from last time".
    I use both features. However, I found if I want the warning pop up for closing multiple tabs, I have to have "show homepage" or "show blank page" selected instead of "Show windows und tabs from last time" selected. (Tools>Options>General>Start Up>When Firefox Starts:) The problem with this is, yes, I get my warning pop up, BUT, I don't get my tabs from my last session.
    The warning in settings (Tools>Options>Tabs>Warn Me When Closing Multiple Tabs) is checked.
    To have my tabs restored from last session, I simply select it for "when firefox starts". Bam, I have my tabs that were open from the last time I quit. Und again, full circle, I don't have my warning pop up.
    There were also suggestions of the warning on close for tabs is conflicting with add-ons.
    However, I don't have many. Und I have yet to test them to see if they interfere. These are according to my Add Ons tab when I check it myself.

    * iTunes Detector Plug-in
    * NPWLPG
    Unsure of what the "5.1.20913.0" und the "NPWLPG" plugins are, but they don't appear to me under Add Ons.
    Und as usual, I'm assuming the solution lies within About:Config, I will show here now what I have set to True.
    browser.tabs.warnOnClose - True
    browser.tabs.warnOnCloseOtherTabs - True
    browser.tabs.warnOnOpen - True
    browser.warnOnQuit - True
    browser.showQuitWarning - True
    As aforementioned:
    The seemingly only issue is the conflict between Show Windows/Tabs From Last Time und the Warn On Quit pop up. Und again, I need/want both of them. More so the tabs from the last session, but I really really really really really want the warning.
    So, if anyone knows a work around, preferably without having to download anything to fix this, I would be extremely grateful.

    You mention a second subject.
    ''I'm probably going to downgrade to another version of firefox that was suggested to me since I'm also having issues with shockwave flash causing firefox to hang und ultimately needs to be force closed otherwise having to have flash disabled to use firefox.''
    <u>Downgrading Firefox </u><br />
    Flash is notorious for causing Firefox problems. I suggest you start a new thread about that. If at all possible you should try to avoid downgrading to an unsecure & unsupported version of Firefox. it will increase risks to your system and Personal data. (There are methods of mitigating the risks, using a virtual machine or operating within a secure intranet for instance)

    There are yet more changes to this forum underway. Mozilla recently tried to improve the experience for first time users of the forum and a troubleshooting app option was included in the workflow to try to encourage users to submit full troubleshooting information.
    I would be interested to know what you thought
    I sometimes wonder if users are not trying to use that, or whether forum users run into problems in using it. At one point I wondered whether there was a problem if too much data was included but never actually proved that conjecture.

    * NPWLPG relates usually to Windows Live Photo Gallery

  • When closing multiple tabs, is there any way to get back the option of saving those tabs OR NOT for your next session, within the warning dialogue box itself?

    For brief period of time, not in FF4, there was the option whereby when I closed multiple tabs, a firefox dialogue box opened warning me that I'm about to close multiple tabs, '''AND ALSO''' asking me if wanted to save those tabs for my next session, or trash them.
    The primary issue IS NOT about saving tabs. The primary question here is about getting THE OPTION back to the CLOSING MULTIPLE TABS WARNING DIALOGUE.
    The use case here should be obvious. However, since it is clearly not obvious that different people work in a variety of ways, and neither of those methods of working is "wrong" or "right" I will elaborate: Some people, for whatever reason, it doesn't matter why, want to save all their tabs on some occasions, and on other occasions don't.
    This preference varies throughout the day. Therefore it is inefficient to constantly go to preferences and change whether or not I want firefox to open all my tabs from my last session. It is more LOGICAL to place an option in the multiple tab warning dialogue as well, for people whose preference constantly changes.
    This option was available for a time in most of the Firefox 3 versions. Is there any way to get back this option in Firefox 4?

    Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no need for asking if you want to save the current session.
    You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session.<br />
    There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default <b>about:home</b> Home page.
    You can set the warn prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page to <b>true</b> via the right-click context menu or toggle the value with a double left-click.
    * browser.showQuitWarning, see http://blog.zpao.com/post/3174360617/about-that-quit-dialog
    * browser.tabs.warnOnClose, see http://kb.mozillazine.org/About%3Aconfig_entries
    * browser.warnOnQuit , see http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.warnOnQuit
    * browser.warnOnRestart , see http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.warnOnRestart
    To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
    If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • How to open a bookmark folder in new tabs without removing previously opened tabs ?

    I love Safari, I think it's the smoothest experience on a Mac. However, not being able to open multiple tabs at once without overwriting my previous ones is a deal breaker. I know you can click the back button to restore previous tabs but then the new ones are gone.
    Is there a way to open a bunch of new tabs at once and keep the ones I already have open ?

    Hello CommeLeMois,
    You should be able to open links in new tabs by holding the Command key (⌘) and clicking on the link. Check in Safari Preferences and looked and the Tab section to see if you have the right behavior enabled.

  • Cannot open links in new tab without holding Ctrl

    There is only one option i see in preferences for opening sites in new tabs. and it is called "Open links from applications..."
    Even with this checked, by default all links open in a new window, unless I hold down Ctrl while clicking the link.
    There MUST be a way to set ALL links to open in a new tab like every other browser I've used. No??

    Every single time this topic is raised, someone tries to claim there is a work-around, while seemingly forgetting that this is the Safari for Windows forum, and not the Safari for Mac forum.
    This is the single biggest glaring omission from Safari for Windows. It completely defeats the purpose of even having tabs, which makes me wonder what in the world were the developers thinking.
    Safari is a very pretty and fast browser, but I don't know many people who actually use it on a Windows machine due to the inability to simply open links in a new tab without right clicking or holding some extra button down. It's also the only mainstream browser for Windows that isn't capable of this simple task.
    Having watched this issue since Safari 3, without ever seeing any response other then "oh, but just do this work-around" (that only works for Macs), my guess is we'll never see it happen. The funny thing is that when you look at the ini files that can be changed on the Mac version, they are pretty much identical to the Windows version. So, the "fix" not working simply means that whoever was in charge of the part of code related to tabs when porting to Windows must have consciously decided there was no need for the ability to open links in new tabs.
    Proving once again that software engineers can be utterly clueless about the usability of their software.
