Hard Wire Xbox 360 to MacBook

My Macbook is connected to my home wireless network via integrated Airport Extreme. Is it possible to transfer that connection to my Xbox 360 by connecting an ethernet cable? If so, what settings should I have to ensure it works? Any help is much appreciated! Cheers:D

Hello benstelmach. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
To setup for Internet Sharing (Wireless to Wired):
Setup the Network
Cable Modem > (Ethernet cable) > \[WAN port] Wireless Router (wireless) > MacBook \[Ethernet port] > (Ethernet) > Xbox 360
Enable Software Firewall (MacBook)
System Preferences > Security > Firewall
o Block all incoming connections (enabled)
Enable Internet Sharing (MacBook)
System Preferences > Sharing
o Select "Internet Sharing" from the options in the left column
o Share your connection from: AirPort
o To computers using: Built-in Ethernet (checked) (Note: Uncheck all other entries in the list.)
o Select "Internet Sharing" again
o Click "Start" to start Internet Sharing
o Click Start
Note: When using Internet Sharing, your MacBook is essentially a "software" router. However, this router is very limited. You may or not get the results you are looking for when connecting to Xbox Live for online gameplay.

  • Connecting Xbox 360 to MacBook Pro through various TV tuner cards

If anybody has knowledge about this topic, what would be the best tuner card to use to get my Xbox 360 to display on my MacBook Pro? I'm not too worried about the graphic limitations, but I definitely do not want to encounter any lag. Suggestions?

  • XBOX 360 using MacBook Pro monitor

Is it possible to play XBOX 360 by connecting it to the MacBook Pro? If possible, could someone please tell me how? Thanks

yeah, but how do you get the dvi into your MacBook? Are there DVI capture solutions? I don't follow capture card technology much, but I would be surprised.
I just re- read your post, and I think you just misread his question - for the record, that how i read it the first time too, but, he wants to play this on his MacBook screen, not a cinema display. If he wanted to use it on a cinema display, he could just get the dvi cable for the xbox 360.

No you won't be able to use your Macbook as a screen for your 360. The Macbook only has Video Out, not Video In.

  • Can I hard wire a link between Macbook Air and Mac Pro?

My Macbook Air currently connects to my office network using WiFi.
But for some reason it takes 20 hours to load new software onto the Air using disc sharing from my Mac Pro, the fastest of my desktops.
The transfer is over Wi-Fi and involves several Gb of data, but it seems excessively slow.
Is there any way of hard-wiring the Air to the Pro to allow faster installation?
The Air has both Thunderbolt and USB sockets, whilst the Pro has USB and Firewire.
    Many thanks,
    Bristly Badger

I would suggest to use a Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter with the Air. Disconnect the MacPro from the Network, simply connect the cable to the MacBook Air's Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter instead. Wait a few seconds until both computers have picked self-assigned IP Addresses, and the shared disk should show up on the MacBook Air. Speed will be 100MB/s. In other words, 10GB will transfer in two minutes. (If the Pro's disks can keep up, that is...)

  • Playing xbox 360 on macbook pro 15 inch retina display with hdmi

Is it possible to be able to plug my xbox360 into my macbook pro 15 inch retina display with the hdmi cable and then play it on my computer because i have an hdmi cable and dont want to go buy the eye tv for another $150 and if it's not possible does anyone know of another way for me to be able to play my xbox360 on it

No. The HDMI port on the MBP-R is an output port used to send images to an external monitor, not an input port.
As far as I know, the only Mac that has ever had a video input capability is the iMac. Some years' models have had the ability to act as a monitor for another computer. I don't have one, but it doesn't look like current iMacs offer this feature (based on a quick skim of the Apple Store pages).

  • I would like to know how to take the music I have ripped from my cd collection , on to my xbox 360 hard drive, and put it on my ipad

I have quite a few CDs that I have ripped to the hard drive of my xbox 360, and I would like to figure out how to load them on my ipad. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

  • XBOX 360, MacBook Pro, PC and Airport Express don't all connect

Just got the new XBOX360 with built in wi-fi for Christmas! Also have a MacBook Pro and a PC connected wirelessly to my Airport Express.
Prior to the XBOX 360 the ApE worked flawlessly with the MbP and PC.
Now, depending on the day, either the PC or the XBOX will not connect with the ApE. I can connect wirelessly to XBOX Live one day, and not connect wirelessly to the PC the next and vice versa.
Powering off the cable modem resolves this, but only for one day, then the problem returns. Any suggestions?

By default, both should already by DHCP clients ... but it is possible that either or both were reconfigured with static IPs that may not be correct for your network configuration.
For the PC, I would need to know which operating system it is running.
For the Xbox 360, you configure, whether or not, it would be a DHCP client via the System Settings > Network panel. The key is that you want both the IP & DNS Addressing to be "Automatic."

  • Xbox 360 live and Macbook

Ok, this is my situation...I just got an xbox 360, and I will be moving into a college dorm at FSU in August. I have a macbook with only mac os x on it right now. What are all the requirements and everything I need to obtain full acces to xbox360 live from my dorm? (Do i need to use bootcamp for windows, what kind of netowkring, etc?) Thank you so much for the help.

You'll need to turn Internet Sharing on your MacBook. Go to: System Preferences/Sharing/Internet
Choose: Share your connection from Airport, and put a check mark on the port that in the list below. Then plug your Xbox 360 with a network cable into the Macbook. You'll probably need a network crossover cable. You can pick up a Network Crossover cable at most computer stores.
How is your dorm going to be setup? Is there going to be a Network (Interent) port in the wall so you can plug your Macbook into it? Or is it totally wireless?
If there's a port in your room, you can go out and spend $20-$50 on a 4 port network hub. You plug a cable from the wall into the Uplink port on the hub. Then you can plug your Macbook and your Xbox 360 with separate cables into the hub.
If it's a wireless dorm, you can purchase the Xbox 360 Wireless adapter. Hopefully the wireless network in your dorm is using WEP security or no security at all. If it's using WPA2 security, you'll be in trouble because the Xbox 360 wireless adapter doesn't support WPA2 security. All this might be over your head, but the more information you can get the better chance we can help you.
    Hope that helps,
    AL

  • Connecting macbook to Xbox 360, HOW?

    Hi guys,
I have an xbox 360 and a new macbook. I want to connect my macbook to the xbox 360 to view itunes library and photos etc. How do I go about this, ie what cables etc do I need? Can I connect now using the stuff I have?
    xbox 360
    macbook
    BT HomeHub
    Ethernet Cable
Airport Extreme Built in to macbook.
    Help much appreciated,
    Baz, Belfast, Northern Ireland.

I use a program called Connect 360 from Nullriver Software which is free, just have a look on Google for it. It connects to your macbook via your wireless connection. You can watch .wmv and play music from your itunes. Just put the program on your macbook and it is very easy to set up.

  • Connecting my xbox 360 (elite) to my macbook pro?

I recently got a Macbook pro for christmas, and was wondering if there was anyway that I could connect my xbox 360 elite to it. I want to use the my macbook screen as a screen for my 360, at least until I can afford a new TV (roommate knocked my 32" samsung off its stand and broke it christmas day...).
I heard there is a VGA coord from microsoft that connects from a vga port to the back of the xbox, and i have the DVI to VGA adapter for the mac already. Was just making sure this works before I spend the $50.
    Thanks!

    Broschati,
No, this won't work. The DVI port on your Macbook Pro is for video out. The Macbook Pro's display is connected directly to the GPU, and there is no way to input video to it.
