Harddrives are confusing me?

Hi guys. I've searching aorund a bit on this problem and found things but I just don't really get it with all the sata and pata and promise and so on. I have a amd64 3200+ on a neo fisr2 mb. Boots up fine (didn't before). I get into the bios. Seems to detect my 2 harddrives. When I exit bios it continues to load. Screen comes up that says promsie on top and something like "detecting", after a while it says bios not installed and no devices found. Then nothing else happens. I get the feeling that this might be about some controller trying to find my harddrives. Should I disable something in the bios? My hd's are normal ones ATA-100 connected to the normal IDE channels. Having the same problem when I connect my cd/dvd to secondary IDE channel. Sorry if this has been asked a thousand times. I just can't figure this out.
IDE channel 1 Master 120g Western digital.
Slave 250 gig Wester digital
IDE channel 2 Master CD/DVD drive.

Hi all,
after going to some of the threads regarding SATA/PATA IDE controller and setup, I am even more confused.
I built my first system back in January and had some issues with my video card (ATI AIW 9800 Pro), which are now finally resolved (after 2 RMA’s).
Last night I upgraded the BIOS successfully to v 1.4.
Here is my problem: I hooked up a mobile 250 Gig WD HD to IDE 3 (strictly for data back-up)– which is not recognized. When I first installed XP and hit F6 nothing happened – I had the “VIA SATA RAID driver” diskette in the A: drive – but the installation process just went on….
Now I finally (with help from ATI customer support) got my video card installation issues resolved and I don’t want to do a re-install of XP.
Is there any way to install the necessary drivers without re-installing the OS?
(if yes – can I use my diskette/disc – or go to MSI’s website for a “live update”?)
What would be the correct BIOS setting?
Remember – I do not need Raid – just IDE 3 hook-up for a removable HD.

Subtitles are confused- need help

Hi,
I build a DVD project which contains 8 languages,and also 8 subtitles. (turkish english chinese, japanese, korean, arabic and farsian)
I created a subtitle selection menu for all 8 languages, and specified links for setting subtitles, as always.
There are 10 chapter buttons in each "chapters menu", and when I click a chapter (after selecting a subtitle language from any "subtitles menu" previously,) it works fine, subtitles are working very well depending my selections. By the dvd players remote, it's same, everything looks fine.I select japanese, Japanese subtitles are on, English, It's on, no problem at all.
But,
There is a chapter play list also, which contains sequential chapters, playing chapters in turn.
When I select "play all" button which selects that chapter play list, things are going wrong. Chapters starting to play in correct order, but subtitles are confusing!
For example if I select English, subtitle become German. If I select Chinese, become Arabic, Korean, etc. Subtitles are completely chaotic.
I couldn't find any solution or adjustment from helps or internet, so anyone can help me please?

I tried, but there are chapters on the timeline and after the first chapter, it returns to the last menu.
I think the best way is to get rid of that useless play-all button..
Btw, "playlist" option seems working seamlessly, instead of chapter playlist..

Digital Publishing Suite: many are confused by the term

Call me pedantic but I know that many people are confused by the term Digital Publishing Suite. This name describes an extension to InDesign CS5.5/CS5 that provides a set of authoring tools but it also identifies a completely separate subscription service that Adobe runs to hosts Apps. A distinction should be made between these two.
Also in this forum it would be useful to flag items that only pertain to subscribers. Bob’s announcement today that Viewer Builder 1.5 is available stated For DPS Subscribers Only which is useful, but often in threads it is not clear whether comments refer to those with a subscription or those without.
Also I urge Adobe to include a Feature Requests section on this Forum (like the prerelease) in order for Adobe to keep in touch with the needs of “real” users.

The DPS name covers the full range of applications and services as they are all intrinsically linked. The InDesign Folio Builder and overlay creator tools, are used to produce folios to be uploaded to Acrobat.com. The Folio Editor tools available through digitalpublishing.acrobat.com allow the user to reorganise these same folios, add and edit the metadata and, if they are a subscriber, publish these folios to the fulfillment server so that they can be download to the iPad/Android tablet/Playbook. The viewer builder exists for subscribers to create the iOS or Android apps their customers will use to download the folios from the fulfillment server.
I agree with you and Bob on the other points however, there does seem to be a lot of confusion about which elements are available with a standard Adobe ID and which require a subscription.
While we don't have a requests forum, we do have the [email protected] alias, which users can email to make us aware of issues, requests and obviously feedback.

There are other map services available. MapQuest, Waze, NavFree, OffMaps, etc...

SUIM results are confusing

Hello Experts,
I dont have much knowledge on security, looking forward to clarify my doubt from your experiences.
We are checking some users based on authrorisation values (combination of two authorisation objects and corresponding values).
1. SUIM -> Where UsedList -> In Users -> Authorisation Object (S_TCODE) with Transaction Code (SU01) -
> gives us list of 62 user id.
2. SUIM -> Where UsedList -> In Users -> Authorisation Object (S_USER_PRO) with Activity(value 22) -
> gives us list of 52 user id.
3. SUIM -> Where UsedList -> In Users -> Authorisation Object (S_TCODE) with Transaction Code (SU01) AND Authorisation Object (S_USER_PRO) with Activity(value 22) -
> gives us list of 82 user id.
So there are around 20 such users reported which were not listed in either of Step 1 or 2.
Results of step 3 are confusing, we are using AND with two authorisation objects, so result should be only those users which are available in both authorisation objects, it should be 52 only (common users in both authorisation objects).
What does AND do when used with more than 1 authorisation objects?
I hope i am able to explain my question, and would really appreciate if you can throw a light on this.

Thanks, i have selected RSUSR002 and everything seems to be working fine now.
Now if run SUIM with AND criteria, it gives me a list of users which are available in both the authorization objects -> acceptable by auditors

But there might be few more inconsistencies, which we haven't observed till now.
Our system was upgraded from 4.6C to ECC6.0 (non unicode).

perhaps the problem is also from earlier client application data. How old is the system and the data in the client?
If you have a reliable test system with the same client data, and can observe the same differences there... then try run function module SUSR_SYNC_USER_TABLES with the TABLE_TYPE parameter = 'X' to clear inconsistencies between the USR and UST tables. There is also a report, but I cannot remember it's name. Do a where-used-lookup on the function. Something like XPRA...
Can you please inform, how can we the find out data inconsistencies between USR and UST tables.

Report and ready for input Query, with similar shadings are confusing

Some customers mix report and planning queries in their templates.
usually the shades for PLAN Queries are
o white - ready vor input
o blue- display data (e.g. LY, calc KPI)
In a Query with NO INPUT ready Cells the query has a zebra shading, blue and white, row by row.
That is confusion for users if they believe every Number on a white background can be changed.
Is it possible to change the shading for reporting queries to blue only?

You can cancel zebra by setting off for ALTERNATE_STYLES in properties if analysis item in WAD, BUT it sets all cells as WHITE and not blue.
I dont know how it will be usefull, but you may try ...

Using the same apple ID for syncing, my devices are confused...

I have my daughter's, and my wife's iphones and ipads, signed into the same icloud account, so that we can all share our calendars, and contacts. However the problem is when I send a SMS or MMS to someone, it thinks that it is coming from my daughter's iphone. I've checked the settings, and the "my info" is clearly my contact info. Even Siri is confused when I ask her a questions, she answers back thinking I'm my daughter, and uses her name.
Where is getting confused?

That's being caused by sharing the same Apple ID for iMessage. To fix this you have two choices:
Configure each person's device(s) so they are using a different Apple ID for iMessage by going to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID. Note: you can still share the same ID for purchasing in Settings>iTunes & App Stores; or
On all your devices go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at". Also uncheck anyone else's phone number, if present.

A good place to start for help is here, in these discussions and then proceed by explaining the probelm clearly.
Let's start by crossing out anything that isn't relevant:

So, are we to assume that a band you like, produce albums with songs on them that you already have, on other albums?
If so, that's down to the band, not Apple. The only answer to that is that you should check for yourself whether you already have a particular song and if you do, don't buy it again. However, you should also consider that buying the full album (with a song you don't want) may be cheaper than buying the individual songs that you do want.

ODI Staging Area Confusion

I am following an ODI Tutorial from http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/fmw/odi/odi_11g/odi_project_ff-to-ff/odi_project_flatfile-to-flatfile.htm. Basically it is writing a flat file to another flat file. My question in this case where will be the staging area?
in the article it is using knowledge modules IKM SQL to File Append and LKM File to SQL; based on the knowledge modules used it means staging area is in Oracle btu Idon't know why it is so.
Please help me in this regard and I will be very grateful.

Your staging area has to be a technology with transformation capabilities i.e a relational DB. This could be a dedicated database such as SQL Server or Oracle or an in memory database such as SUNOPSIS Memory Engine. As both your source and target are files and don't have these capabilities you will have to choose the staging different from target option in your interface and then select the appropriate relational technology available in your ODI architecture.
The 2 inerfaces you have mentioned are not technology specific which means that you can choose any relational technolgy with SQL capabilities as your Satging Area, it does not have to be Oracle

Updates are confusing me

I have a 5th gen 30 GB iPod video (wifes), purchased in June of 07,as well as an 80 GB iPod Classic (mine). purchased more recently. I got the updates notices on both iPods while syncing our music, held off for a week or so like I usually do and ran the updater & installed through iTunes ver 7.5 with success. (I don't plan to ever rent movies so I don't feel any urgency to update to 7.6) My confusion is this: The update said I needed to go from 1.2.1 to 1.2.3 on the OLDER white iPod video 30GB and The update took my NEWER 80 GB Classic (aluminum) from 1.0.2 to 1.1.
These updates though successful, seem odd to me, Shouldn't the Classic have the higher update number? The classic has the newer OS with the "split screen" and the iPod video has the older display. Can anyone straighten out my feeble brain?

Yes, I was aware that the two iPods each have different OS's I guess my brain went sideways and made me think that the newer iPod would have higher update number than the older 5th gen. the versions wouldn't run concurrent. Silly me Thanks for jostling my gray matter

Two Apple Accounts are confused

My son synched his new ipod to the same computer that I synch my iphone to. He created a new account, but all my applications have appeared on his ipod, including the paid ones. Now, when he goes to download something from the App store, it wants to use my credentials instead of his. How can we seperate the accounts? To do a total wipe of his ipod at this point is not a problem, but what happens to the accounts? Do we need to use different computers? Thanks - Jim

If you feel confused about having 2 Apple ID, I actually suggest using the same account for both of your i-devices.
My family owned an iPad, 2 iPhone 4, and an iPod Touch, a totally of 4 devices.
Since none of the family members beside me bother to look into the sync and accounts setup procedure, I take charge of all of them.
With only 1 account, it is actually great in buying the apps, since all 4 of my devices share the same set of apps and sync to the only PC at my home.
I don't have to buy 2 times when my father or mother or brothers need an app that I have already paid for.
I also have greater control on my little brother's purchases since the account uses my card and he don't have the password for my Apple ID
If I remember correctly, you can have at most 5 i-devices paired to 1 account.
But, of course, this is only my way of getting this settled.
From what you have said, it seems that when your son bought the iPod, he choose to set up his iPod by restoring from your iPhone backup.
If you really want to separate you and your son's account and content, I think you'll have to:
restore your son's ipod to factory default. This would erase *ALL* things in the ipod.
After the restart of his ipod, choose "set up this ipod as a new device" or something like that in iTunes.
Then, sign-in using his own account to App Store on his ipod.
After this, whenever he buys things, he will be prompt to log in with "his" account. Purchase made with his account remain "his".
Since I have never done that myself before, I am not quite sure about the procedures.
But I can assure you that you don't need another computer.

What harddrives are approved for use with ix4-200d?

I found an article on the Lenovo site for the process of swapping out all 4 hard drives in an ix4-200d, but what I can't find is an article showing the list of approved/recommended hard drives for use with the ix4-200d. Can anyone point me to such an article?
My ix4-200d has a 4x500GB configuration (Seagate ST3500412AS drives). I'd like to swap them for either 2TB or 3TB drives, so I can have one place to store all my raw video, which right now is spread out over three different devices. Also, if you have any advice or gotchas to look out for when I swap out the drives, I'd love to hear you on that matter.

In regards to the ix4-200d and ix4-200d CE, Iomega/LenovoEMC never created an approved list of drives. When a disk failure occured the disk should be replacing with a matching drive if at all possible.
When it is not possible to use a matching disk model, a similar disk should be used. This would be a disk with the same manufacturer, capacity and rotation speed.
For the ix4-200d specifically, the units shipped with either a 500GB, 1TB, or 2TB Seagate Barracuda LP (5900rpm) Hepburn disks. ST3500412AS, ST31000520AS, ST32000542AS
That is what the ix4-200d units were qualified to use. Outside of those three specific drive models you will be dealing with hypothetically compatible disk options.
The recommendations that Wesley made previously are correct. You should go though the ix4-300d list find a model that is similar to the stock drive or at least within the capacity limits of the device model. (ix4--200d is 2TB disks, ix4-200dce is 3TB disks)
If a different disk models are used in either version of the ix4-200d, it is highly recommended that all disks be eventually replaced with the new model of disk for RAID stability. to do this, the Capacity Upgrade Guide should be followed.

Ipod mini and new harddrive. very confused.

I have had an ipod mini for about a year. i have a laptop, which used to have my itunes and all my songs for my ipod mini. recently the harddrive of my laptop got compeltely swiped leaving me with no itunes, no songs, no software. i re-installed itunes, but am afraid of installing my ipod. i do not want itunes to delete the 300+ songs on my ipod now that i have none in the library. i really need help with adding new songs onto my ipod now that my computer has been re-vamped. nobody seems to know how to do it without having all my current songs deleted, and i don't want to have to get rid of them all. i've been trying to figure this out for awhile now so any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

The latest CC updates are confusing

It appears that versioning has changed in the latest update. For example, The latest update of Adobe Lightroom used to be the one with the highest version number, however today's update seems to be called just "Adobe Lightroom" with no version number. Some of the other applications seem to have unusual confusing versioning also.
Why does Adobe insist on keeping older versions on CC anyway?

This is not the correct answer.
The program is called "Adobe Lightroom CC(2015)" when it opens, but it displays in my start menu on Windows 7 Enterprise, after the upgrade by CC app, as "Adobe Lightroom" with no "6" no "CC" and no "2015". This is NOT consistent with the behavior of versioning of the other native CC Technology. For example, the new Photoshop displays as "Adobe Photoshop CC(2014)" on my start menu and opens as exactly the same name.

Address Cards are confused

when i look at 2 address cards which are named as person 'A" & "B", they display the information for a different contact..."person c"(whoever is at the top of the list). If I try to delete the card for person 'A" & "B" - then it deletes the card for person 'c". What the !!!!??? is happening.
£2500 on a macbook pro & 3 year support - worst money I've ever spent! - I want my pc back.

Quit Address Book and drag file ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/AddressBook-v22.abcddb (where ~ is your home directory) to the Desktop. This file is AB's contact data base, so it will rebuild it from the details in the Metadata folder. Restart Address Book and see is the problem solved.
