Hardlocked

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

If you have used up all of your chances to enter the correct unlock code, there is nothing further you can do. Even if you happen to have now the correct code, it is useless. Only the factory can now (legally) unlock your BB. Typically, I've heard that the cost of having BlackBerry do this for you will be greater than the cost of just buying a new one. But, you are able to ask them...see here:
http://us.blackberry.com/support/programs/technical/incident.jsp
Note, however, that this process will start with a fee...
If you obtained your unlock code from somewhere but it was incorrect, your recourse could be with them -- however, they may well question why you exhausted all 10 attempts before contacting them.
If your BB was already MEP locked and you obtained it from a source that represented it as being able to be unlocked, then your recourse would be with the seller you obtained it from.
Good luck!

  • [Solved] pacman errors out after a hardlock

Hi, I experienced a hardlock today due to a bad memory stick during a pacman update. Now pacman tells me this (with --debug):
    looking for inter-conflicts...
    debug: looking for conflicts
    debug: check targets vs targets
    debug: check targets vs targets
debug: check targets vs db and db vs targets
    debug: check targets vs db
    debug: check db vs targets
    debug: checking dependencies
    debug: checkdeps: package openoffice-base-3.1.0-1
debug: returning error 33 from compute_download_size : package filename is not valid
error: failed to prepare transaction (package filename is not valid)
I deinstalled openoffice-base but I still get the same error.
Oh I think I found the culprit, in /var/lib/pacman/sync/extra/openoffice-base-3.1.0-1/ all files are empty.
    I'm removing this directory now...
    execute pacman -Syu again
    still doesn't work
someone on IRC suggests pacman -Syy, this forces a synchronization of the database
I did that and now I do pacman -S openoffice-base.
This works, it's downloading openoffice-base from one of the mirrors now.
    I thought I'd share this.

Thanks for sharing, I'm sure it'll help out someone in the future.

  • Nokia 5230 Hardlocked sim

    Hi all
I am new here and its the first time I am writing a post so if I am at the wrong section please forgive me.
I have recently purchased a nokia 5230 nuron from eBay and at the site it said that the phone was unlocked but it wasn't. It was giving me the massage of an invalid sim card so I emailed the guy and he gave me some unlock codes to do it. I have tried them and nothing happend so I google a few stuff and found out that I hardlocked the phone and now it might be unusable. Is there any help that you can provide me with or the phone is useless now?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

As Scooby said early, the Nokia Care Point can reset the counter giving you 3 more attempts to enter your code. What they won't do is to unlock it for you or give you te unlock code. You will still need to get the unlock code from the network it is locked to. Since your phone is from Spain, chances are it is locked to a Spanish network. Proof of ownership is going to be difficult as you are not the original owner and do not have the original receipt. You could ask the seller for the receipt or better still the unlock codes but chances are if they had access to either, the phone would already be unlocked.
My advice would be to return it to seller for a refund because the item is not as described.

  • What next for HARDLOCKED Xperia S

Stuck with a hardlocked Xperia S. Just like many others, the codes I bought online didnt work as I was out of unlock chances (the phone is now hardlocked). Bootloader is set to "NO".
Question is What next? Has no one comeup with a solution to this? Is it right to assume everyone with this problem has their phone stored away?

    You need to contact the network carrier your phone's locked to. Only they will provide you with valid code to unlock your phone;

  • System hardlocks and reboots

    Hi,
I've recently been getting hardlocks followed by my system rebooting.
This 'mostly' happens, only when I use compiz, especially when browsing the web with firefox(shiretoko) on more 'demanding' sites(performance wise).
However it has also has happened when just browsing my files with nautilus or checking my torrents with transmission, but with compiz active.
Apart from that, I've noticed the same thing happening, when using metacity + firefox and loading big (2000x1500) images on a site like imageshak.
I'm running gnome 2.28, enabled testing and use xf86-video-ati. KMS is enabled early, directrendering works (as does compiz..).
I've gone through my logs but never seem to find anything...
Any ideas to what could be causing this?
Could this be a hardware-error with my gpu (radeon 9800)? I should mention that under 'extreme load' (newer games on windows) my system also chickens out, but normal desktop usage shouldn't fall into that category..

Hmm, I've checked dmesg, nothing like those warnings you mentioned...
My System is properly configured, it has been running since 2005, and that usually quite stable. As mentioned above, only under 'extreme load'  it sometimes dies, but I'm very certain that this is related to a fault with the gpu, as I've noticed this only happening when for instance using 'ultra quality' in doom3 (in windows), or more generally when using the 'highest' texture-detail setting in games.
I think that somehow 'compiz' (or whatever part it uses in the ati-driver) is triggering that same behaviour, but obviously I'm not sure.
Is compiz + xf86-video-ati unstable for more people? Or is it just my quirky hardware?

  • Z10 Hardlock

Bought a z10 today (hardware upgrade), and I need to unlock it as I travel quite a bit and using a foreign sim is the best option for me.
My carrier (Rogers) doesn't give out unlock codes, or at least I can't get them to give me one, not really sure why they have this policy.  Anyways, that's never been a big deal since I've always just used one of the many unlock providers online.
Today, I bought an unlock code online and it didn't work.  Tried it again, same thing.  Then I bought another unlock code from a different retailer.  Didn't work.  Tried again, same thing.  Repeat with another carrier, and then another.  Now I have ONE attempt left before it will "hardlock".  What can I do about this?  I just bought this phone today, I really don't want to hardlock my own device.  I do however need it unlocked, but I'm so unsure how to go about this now, one more failed unlocking attempt and this phone is pretty useless to me, and that's NOT what I want.
    What are my options?

You can obtain the unlock code from Rogers directly for CDN 50 with only one condition, your phone must be registered to you for a period of 3 months, it may not be requirement if you bought the phone outright. If you have purchased unlock code(s) from a third party and none worked, especially if they are all the same, don't be surprised when you find the one Rogers provide is the same - it happened to me twice (yep two different Z10s from Rogers, the first was not unlockable using the code and I was offered a new one). There certainly is a problem with the database of unlock codes, I read somewhere that its a common issue. I am the proud owner of a Rogers Z10 which Rogers can't unlock.Since I have been traveling for a few months now, I placed a hold on the situation until I return to Toronto and write to the Ombudsman, as customer service adds agony and despair to a situation that already has plenty of both.  Good luck...

  • Nokia 2610 Hardlocked

I have a Nokia 2610, which is on Telstra prepaid. I am trying to unlock it so I can change operator, but it seems to be hardlocked as no unlock codes work for it. Not even the unlock code specific to my IMEI works, and that's after calling Telstra and getting the code from them.
What I have done is bought a CA-45 usb data cable, and I can detect my Nokia 2610 through the cable, but I have no software to unlock it with. I have installed Oxygen Phone Manager II, Oxycube and Nokia PC Suite, but none have an option to remove operator locks.
Considering it's an old phone, and there's no Telstra stores nearby, it would cost me more to get it unlocked compared to doing it myself. I have the cable, just not the software to do it with.
I have spent more than enough on phone credit, so I should be entitled to unlock it myself.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

first of all before i go on, i must state that also living in Australia and experiencing the wrath of Telstra myself, they suck. never go with them again, unless you live in a remote area and need the coverage from them. talk of unlocking processes is strictly forbidden on these boards, and bear in mind that if you do undertake such activities, you may very well void your warranty. but we cannot provide you any assistance with unlocking your phone, other than what you have already tried. seems strange that the code Telstra provided you with does not work on your phone, it really should. all i can suggest is that because it's such a low-end model, and what cost you $99 or $79 (i'm guessing), to purchase a newer phone with another operator. or purchase an unlocked model. the cost of buying the CA-45 cable could probably have been saved by going to unlock the phone at one of those unofficial shops that always seem to advertise phone unlocking and parts replacement. i know you have spent more than the unlock limit to get the phone unlocked, and i understand your frustration. but what i've stated is probably the only options you have.
please throw some kudos our way, it would mean a lot to us
If you found this or someone's comments helpful or like what that person has to say, please give some Kudos to their post!

  • Random hardlocks while gaming

It's happening again, one reason I moved from *buntu was the random hardlocks, well I'm getting them again, 3 times last night while playing, and only happens when I'm playing, mainly WoW
So any clue as to what is causing this? The locks are so bad all I can do is force power off and restart, what logs should I be checking etc,?

Nope, cleaning out my system did no good
I'm going to try turning off Compiz and seeing if that helps any like I've heard
hmm, well what was the last thing u changed before u started having lock-ups. Did u do a system upgrade? check the logs around the time it started and u will have a good lead to follow.

  • [SOLVED] HP G62 - Freezes (Hardlock) Ralink 5390 Wifi setting up.

    Hi
    I got a HP G62 with a Ralink 5390 wifi card.
I downloaded and compiled the kernel and with the patches that come from opensuse.
    I used this thread
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=112170
and blacklisted rt2800pci and added rt5390sta in modules.
Rebooting computer ads a wlan0 as ralink device with all the info
iwconfig ads wlan0 and ifconfig finds wlan0 with what seems proper info
Starting wicd it finds networks and when trying to connect it freezes up after "setting up interfaces"
Everything is up to date. And have no idea how to solve the hardlock issues.
    EDIT
IT seems that it works for wep unsecured but not on wpa2 secured

  • Oracle VM 3 and USB/HardLock.

I'm starting to create a test enviroment wiht Oracle VM 3.0.2 and in the current production enviroment (Oracle VM 2.2.2) i'm able to do USB passthrough. For that i use the lsusb command and capture the ID of the device, then i configure the vm.cfg to map this device to the guest VM. My problem is that i don't have the lsusb command in Oracle VM 3.0.2. Is there any workaround to do this procedure?

Is there any workaround to do this procedure? No. USB pass-through is not supported on Oracle VM 2 or 3, and thus lsusb was removed from the Dom0 installation. If you have no need for Oracle VM support, you could use the usbutils RPM from OL5U6, which provides the lsusb tool.

  • System hardlocks when ejecting firewire drives

Anyone else having this issue?  I've had it since the 2.6.16 kernels, and I'm currently running -8.  I have both an ipod and an external hard drive that will hang the system about 75% of the time when I "safely remove" or use the eject command and unhook them.  Both are firewire.  I can't find anything in the logs.

I may have solved this.  Sometime during recent upgrades my system started loading the eth1394 module along with the regular 1394 modules.  I've never seen this before, and have no use at all for it - more to the point, it was screwing with my existing ethernet.  Reasoning there might be a connection, I've added eth1394 to my blacklist, and so far have not been able to make my box hang.  I've also upgraded to 2.6.16.2 w/o issue.

  • Issue with W510 hardlocking frequently

I recently purchased a W510 for mobile performing, and now I'm running into a real issue; the machine will hard lock itself at random, every 5min-1hour. Sometimes I have to pull the battery just to get a restart. I've turned off all the Lenovo services in an attempt to fix it, checked the event log; I can't find anything at all to explain it. I use a cooling pad and I don't even do anything too intensive.
I looked around on the forums but can't find a number to call; just the "certified support people", but some posts talk about people sending their laptops back to Lenovo. I'm confused here! How do I get this problem fixed? Do I open a ticket with Lenovo somehow or just take it to a repair shop? I don't want to be paying a dime for this >< Very frustrated with this!
    Thanks in advance.
