Hardware acceleration doesn't work anymore since version 10.2.153.1

Hi all,
Today I updated my flash player to the newest version and its hardware acceleration stopped working. Everything was ok with previous version (10.2.152.32 I guess). I tested it on YouTube - now I get "undefined video rendering" instead of accelerated. Sometimes, when I go to fullscreen before playing the video acceleration turns on but when I go back to the normal mode it shows as undefined or software video rendering. On the other sites (vimeo, dailymotion) I can't open "show video info" dialog so I can't check it but I see more CPU usage in my task manager. Anybody with the same problem?
OS: Windows XP SP3
Browser: Firefox 4 and IE 8 (tested on both)
Graphic card: GF 8600GT
Drivers: Nvidia 266.58
Flash version: 10.2.153.1
EDIT: I downgraded the flash player to previous version (after uninstalling the newest) and hardware acceleration still doesn't work. So what may be the problem? I didn't install any windows or drivers updates lately. I also checked my GPU load (with GPU-Z program) and it's 0% on every video site.

Hi,
I suspect what's happening here is that YouTube recently made changes on their side that disabled StageVideo under certain conditions.  This change has been most prominent on Windows, but as you noted it sometimes works during full screen playback.  We've been actively investigating the issues reported in the forum (both here and on youtube's.)  We're trying to find reproducable cases where the video playback is black/white yet the audio still works, corrupted video, or other issues with hardware acceleration enabled.  If you'd like, we'd love to get your feedback on a few tests:
Testing Steps:
1. Verify that the Flash setting "Enable hardware acceleration" is checked.  For instructions on finding this setting, please see step 1 of our Troubleshoot video playback issues document. Ignore the instructions to uncheck this setting, we want hardware acceleration to be enabled for the first pass (make sure “Enable hardware acceleration” is selected/checked.”)
2. Navigate to: http://www.youtube.com/embed/tgbNymZ7vqY?wmode=direct
Does the video playback correctly with…
Hardware Acceleration Enabled (Yes/No):
Hardware Acceleration Disabled* (Yes/No):
3. Navigate to: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/live-player/
Note: I have seen buffering/bandwidth issues with this video, what we're looking for here are display issues (black screen, corrupted video, etc.)
Does the video playback correctly with…
Hardware Acceleration Enabled (Yes/No):
Hardware Acceleration Disabled* (Yes/No):
*If you encounter problems with either of these two videos, please disable hardware acceleration from step 1 (uncheck “Enable hardware acceleration”) and try again.
Thanks,
Chris

  • Hardware acceleration doesn´t work with 6-core CPU?

    Hi,
i´ve upgraded recently my PC to a Phenom X6 6-core CPU and i have encountered a major problem with the Flash player since then.
For example, Youtube HD videos don´t get scaled correctly when watched in fullscreen mode but instead the standard-view gets resized to my screen resolution without scaling
    The result looks like this.
    http://img217.imageshack.us/i/hd6850y.jpg/
I am pretty sure that even though i activated hardware-acceleration only software-acceleration is used to scale the videos. There seems to be a conflict between the 6-core CPU and the Flash player. I noticed that some software doesn´t work properly with the rather new 6-core CPU´s and it´s probably the same case with Flash player. I think it doesn´t recognize the CPU and switches automatically into software-scaling.
I already re-installed Flash Player several times and tried out several AMD Catalyst drivers for my graphic card. No results.
    Any help is appreciated.
    My system specs are:
Win XP Professional SP3, latest Flash Player version, latest AMD catalyst, AMD Phenom X6 CPU, AMD HD6850 GPU.

Yes,  i already updated my graphic card drivers several times.
There is no difference between running with or without hardware acceleration which supports my assumption that hardware acceleration doesn´t work, i guess.
The results are exactly the same
    I´m running:
    Win XP Professional SP3 32Bit
    Firefox 3.6.16
    Flash Player version 10,2,153,1
    ÁMD Catalyst 11.3

I can't seem to get my iMac (late 2009 model) into automatic sleep mode.  If I manually put it into sleep I don't have any issues.
I used to solve the issue by running "PleaseSleep" application but that doesn't work anymore since Lion. I now want to fix the underlying problem.
I'm not running any weird background processes and in my energy saver settings I've tagged "put the hard disk to sleep when possible:, "allow power button to put computer to sleep" and "automatically reduce brigthness". All pretty standard.
Is there anyone who can give me some pointers ?

Today I solved the same problem for my iMac running Snow Leopard. See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3008791#15947706. The method may help you, too.
For me it was the DynDNS Updater preventing my iMac from automatically entering sleep mode.
To my knowledge the cause of this sleep problem can only be a peripheral device or a process. So I suggest to first unplug all peripherals and test whether that's the cause. If not, I suggest to terminate one process after another and to test automatic entering of sleep mode after each. Start with user processes; continue with system process if necessary.
At least that's the way I found the offending process. Fortunately, I was able to change the configuration of that process to allow again automatic entering of sleep mode.
    Good luck!

My 3G doesn't work anymore since the iOS7 update
    What to do now?

Mine stopped working today. I have tried all obvious methods to resuscitate it but no luck. Is this to do with the upgrade?

  • Tethering doesn´t work anymore since I updated to IOS 7.1

Since I updated to IOS 7.1 the tethering function doesn´t work anymore on my Iphone 4.
I have recently purchased an IPAD Mini, as the iphone has become so incredibly slow after update to IOS 7.0. I am travelling a lot and use the tethering function to access the internet. And now, after update to IOS 7.1  I can´t even use my IPAD anymore when travelling.
I must say, enough is enough. My patience is at it´s end. A professional company doesn´t work like this !
Apple, please react and get this problem solved.

What Apple wants from his customers?
    1) I've paid my iPhone 4S 900 euros;
    2) I'm used to buy music and apps from iTunes store;
    3) my iCloud space costs 32 euros per year
and, like me, millions of customers around the world!
and Apple does not allow me (and many others) to use the internet traffic for which I (we) pay my (our) provider, that's not among those that directly sell iPhone??? Is this your idea of a really unblocked device as you falsely declsre from the pages of Apple online store ?!? Shame on you!
If I had know that the 7.1 led to this I'd never updated my iPhone. No one (Apple and the sites that live because of her) told about this issue in their enthusiastic comments on the new, updated version, of iOS. Shame on you!
This would claim a class action against such a behaviour!
    I'm disgusted
    thank you

Basically I downloaded the OS X on my mac and since them I cant open my Mac Pro anymore, It says you have to repair your disk.. I tried repairing it on my own but it doesn't work do I need to take it to the nearest apple place? And I just changed my hardware from Dubai last summer and they told me that I have one year warranty does this include it ?

I discovered the problem that the upper top right button (usually used to mute) does not send my device to standby anymore when being pressed longer than 3 seconds.
Together with this problem I discovered something that is also working different than before.
When I press the keyboard lock button (upper top left button) the lock now gets activated directly and
the screen turns black. Before this update took place the owner details were showing up when pressing this button and the screen turns dark after the defined time to go off.
The owner details are added correctly and show up when going to properties-owner.
This is working as designed with the new upgraded operating system you installed. There is not an option to change it back, only to downgrade your operating system back to the version you had installed previously.
If you want to lock the screen, you will need to set a password on the device.

  • Hardware acceleration doesn't work after large update

I did my first update for about 7 weeks today, and after rebooting my laptop booted into gnome fallback mode instead of gnome shell.
I have an ATI card (unsure of the exact one) and I use the open source radeon driver. It's always worked fine until now. The glxinfo renderer string now says "Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe", whereas it used to say "Gallium 0.4 on RV something".
xf86-video-ati and ati-dri are installed and (like the rest of the system) up to date.

davidgurvich wrote:Gallium is a software renderer.
No it's not. Gallium is a new architecture for writing drivers, and a bit more than that. Only softpipe and llvmpipe are software renderers, the others are hardware. If easyonthev is now seeing llvmpipe where he saw RV before, it indeed means he lost hardware rendering. I don't have experience with radeon cards though, so I don't know where to look for solutions. According to the log, everything loaded fine.
easyonthev, which graphic card exactly do you have? And are you using KMS or not?

  • Standby doesn't work anymore since updating to v5.0.0.1036 & lock keyboard works differently

    Hi all,
Hope you guys are able to help me with my problem
I updated my Blackberry 8900 Curve over the weekend to
    v5.0.0.1036(Platform 5.2.0.104) Provider is Vodafone.de
This updated was offered when connecting my device to BlackBerry Desktop Application.
After this update successfully took place I discovered the problem that the upper top right button (usually used to mute) does not send my device to standby anymore when being pressed longer than 3 seconds.
This function worked perfectly prior to this update. Unfortunately I did not know on what version I was before, but as I`m doing updates on a  more of less regular base I assume it was the prior available one.
I did a secure delete (security options - security delete) of the device and started from scratch twice already, but the problem remains the same.
Is there any way to get at least the standby working again.
I´m using an case-mate holster with build in battery allow me to recharge my BB when no power plug is avail. Unfortunately this one does not have a magnet that send the device to standby automatically when plugged into the holster, so this manual standby option is important for me to
    extend battery life.
    Looking forward to your reply.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind Regards

This is working as designed with the new upgraded operating system you installed. There is not an option to change it back, only to downgrade your operating system back to the version you had installed previously.
If you want to lock the screen, you will need to set a password on the device.

  • Q10 speaker doesn't work anymore since I installed the OS 10.2.1.537

    Hi all,
I'm experiencing troubles with the speaker of my Q10 since I've installed the OS update 10.2.1.537. All the other sound devices work well (loudspeaker, headset).
Do you have something to troubleshoot this issue?
    Cheers,

I have the same problem, although the issue did not arise immediatel after the installation of OS 10.2.1.537 and so I am not sure if it is connected.
I ran the Audio Test on Blackberry Virtual Expert - the only tests that failed were Receiver Audio and Headset Plug.
I am hoping that this is a software issue rather than hardware (as the phone is no longer under warranty), but given the number of owners that this issue seems to have impacted, it would be helpful if someone from BB would clarify the position.
And yes, before anyone asks, I have tried increasing the phone volume...

Ever since the upgrade, my yahoo chat won't work on my pc. I can't get the chat windows to pop up. I can see someone is trying to chat with me, but no window. I'm not the only one this is happening to. I have a friend who has gone through the same thing. We've both tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. Please fix this particular issue as we both prefer firefox over internet explorer, but our chat works fine in IE. Thanks!

Thanks!!! Everything seems to be working now!!!

  • Mobileme account doesn't work anymore on version 10.5.8??

I know Apple has a new software program iCloud. Is that the reason a get a blanc page when opening my MobileMe mailaccount?
If so, I need to buy me a new Mac, because I can not upgrade this Mac to 10.7......

All Mac Pro towers can upgrade to 10.7.  Only PowerMacs can't. Your profile says you have a Mac Pro. I give a visual comparison of the two towers on:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2455
I'm not sure about Mobileme versus iCloud, all I know is that Safari 5.0 which will run on 10.5 can access some of iCloud's features.  Here's where you can get the Leopard version:
    http://www.tucows.com/preview/754419
Here's a more detailed list of requirements for iCloud:

I would contact iCloud support if uncertain your desired features will be supported without upgrading:

I have an Iphone 3GS and the app for Facebook doesn't work anymore since last update made yesterday.
How can I restore it without the last update?
Or, what can I do to have the Facebook back again on my mobile?
    Thank you for your help.

    Hi Ricoco,
I too had exact issue what you were experienced, then I went to Apple autorised service center and submitted my earpods, their it worked with all versions of Apple iphones, but it didn't worked on my 3gs. The service technician suggested for OS  upgrade. Then I came home and I took the backup and upgraded 5.1 to 6.1 as he suggested, also it didn't worked. I was totally frustated and suddenly I got an idea!. What a funny thing here is, a safety pin resolved my issue, I took out all dust which was there in the jack hole. Then I check my earpods, it was amazing you know..MY EAR PODS WORKED!.
If you still have this issue, I hope this will help you.
