Hardware acceleration doesn´t work with 6-core CPU?

Hi,
i´ve upgraded recently my PC to a Phenom X6 6-core CPU and i have encountered a major problem with the Flash player since then.
For example, Youtube HD videos don´t get scaled correctly when watched in fullscreen mode but instead the standard-view gets resized to my screen resolution without scaling
The result looks like this.
http://img217.imageshack.us/i/hd6850y.jpg/
I am pretty sure that even though i activated hardware-acceleration only software-acceleration is used to scale the videos. There seems to be a conflict between the 6-core CPU and the Flash player. I noticed that some software doesn´t work properly with the rather new 6-core CPU´s and it´s probably the same case with Flash player. I think it doesn´t recognize the CPU and switches automatically into software-scaling.
I already re-installed Flash Player several times and tried out several AMD Catalyst drivers for my graphic card. No results.
Any help is appreciated.
My system specs are:
Win XP Professional SP3, latest Flash Player version, latest AMD catalyst, AMD Phenom X6 CPU, AMD HD6850 GPU.

Yes,  i already updated my graphic card drivers several times.
There is no difference between running with or without hardware acceleration which supports my assumption that hardware acceleration doesn´t work, i guess.
The results are exactly the same
I´m running:
Win XP Professional SP3 32Bit
Firefox 3.6.16
Flash Player version 10,2,153,1
ÁMD Catalyst 11.3

  • Hardware acceleration doesn't work anymore since version 10.2.153.1

    Hi all,
Today I updated my flash player to the newest version and its hardware acceleration stopped working. Everything was ok with previous version (10.2.152.32 I guess). I tested it on YouTube - now I get "undefined video rendering" instead of accelerated. Sometimes, when I go to fullscreen before playing the video acceleration turns on but when I go back to the normal mode it shows as undefined or software video rendering. On the other sites (vimeo, dailymotion) I can't open "show video info" dialog so I can't check it but I see more CPU usage in my task manager. Anybody with the same problem?
    OS: Windows XP SP3
Browser: Firefox 4 and IE 8 (tested on both)
    Graphic card: GF 8600GT
    Drivers: Nvidia 266.58
    Flash version: 10.2.153.1
EDIT: I downgraded the flash player to previous version (after uninstalling the newest) and hardware acceleration still doesn't work. So what may be the problem? I didn't install any windows or drivers updates lately. I also checked my GPU load (with GPU-Z program) and it's 0% on every video site.

    Hi,
I suspect what's happening here is that YouTube recently made changes on their side that disabled StageVideo under certain conditions.  This change has been most prominent on Windows, but as you noted it sometimes works during full screen playback.  We've been actively investigating the issues reported in the forum (both here and on youtube's.)  We're trying to find reproducable cases where the video playback is black/white yet the audio still works, corrupted video, or other issues with hardware acceleration enabled.  If you'd like, we'd love to get your feedback on a few tests:
    Testing Steps:
    1. Verify that the Flash setting "Enable hardware acceleration" is checked.  For instructions on finding this setting, please see step 1 of our Troubleshoot video playback issues document. Ignore the instructions to uncheck this setting, we want hardware acceleration to be enabled for the first pass (make sure “Enable hardware acceleration” is selected/checked.”)
    2. Navigate to: http://www.youtube.com/embed/tgbNymZ7vqY?wmode=direct
Does the video playback correctly with…
    Hardware Acceleration Enabled (Yes/No):
    Hardware Acceleration Disabled* (Yes/No):
    3. Navigate to: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/live-player/
Note: I have seen buffering/bandwidth issues with this video, what we're looking for here are display issues (black screen, corrupted video, etc.)
Does the video playback correctly with…
    Hardware Acceleration Enabled (Yes/No):
    Hardware Acceleration Disabled* (Yes/No):
*If you encounter problems with either of these two videos, please disable hardware acceleration from step 1 (uncheck “Enable hardware acceleration”) and try again.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Hardware acceleration doesn't work after large update

I did my first update for about 7 weeks today, and after rebooting my laptop booted into gnome fallback mode instead of gnome shell.
I have an ATI card (unsure of the exact one) and I use the open source radeon driver. It's always worked fine until now. The glxinfo renderer string now says "Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe", whereas it used to say "Gallium 0.4 on RV something".
xf86-video-ati and ati-dri are installed and (like the rest of the system) up to date.

davidgurvich wrote:Gallium is a software renderer.
No it's not. Gallium is a new architecture for writing drivers, and a bit more than that. Only softpipe and llvmpipe are software renderers, the others are hardware. If easyonthev is now seeing llvmpipe where he saw RV before, it indeed means he lost hardware rendering. I don't have experience with radeon cards though, so I don't know where to look for solutions. According to the log, everything loaded fine.
easyonthev, which graphic card exactly do you have? And are you using KMS or not?

  • How come "INTEL APP ACCELERATOR" doesn't work with the 875p NEO?

i tried both versions, the raid and normal. says my hardware isnt compatible or cant be found or something like that. anyone got it running on there 875p? is there a patch or something, adifferent version im missing or something?

On the Intel site where(I hope) you downloaded the APP Accelerator, if you scroll down the page http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/iaa/> you will come across a line that says "Supported Chipsets". Click on it and read it. It tells you everything you need to know. The Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility, or INF Chipset utility, is already optimized for these chipsets. Use that instead. That is what is used for the new chipsets. DO NOT GORGET to uninstall APP Accelerator, or you might have problems. Good Luck!

  • AT-AO-10 doesn´t work with Windows 2000

I have an AT-AO-10 board that doesn’t work with Windows 2000. I have reserved two IRQs for legacy devices (non plug and play) in BIOS. The AT-AO-10 has got assigned these IRQs, a DMA and a base address that are free, and there aren’t any hardware conflicts, but the board doesn't pass the MAX's text.
In Windows 'Information System', the board is shown in 'Forced hardware', but I don’t know that is a problem.
If the board is unplugged, error messages are the same.

    Hello;
You didn't mention what version of the NI-DAQ driver you are using over there. Anyway, my suggestion to you is to uninstall the NI-DAQ driver you have installed, remove the board, reboot the machine, download and install the latest NI-DAQ version (6.9.3) from NI web site.
Try the installation with the new driver, and if that is still not working, the best bet is to try the same installation on a different machine to double check if the hardware is not defective.

  • IDVD doesn't work with Leopard

Hi, I recently installed Leopard and have had no problems with it until I tried to use iDVD today and found that the themes will not load. Does an upgrade to iLife 08 solve this problem?
I previously had no problems using iDVD. Below are the specs from my computer.
    Hardware Overview:
    Model Name: iBook G4
    Model Identifier: PowerBook6,7
    Processor Name: PowerPC G4 (1.5)
    Processor Speed: 1.42 GHz
    Number Of CPUs: 1
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
    Memory: 1 GB
    Bus Speed: 142 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 4.9.3f0
    Serial Number: 4H543GPTSE9
    Sudden Motion Sensor:
    State: Enabled
    Version: 1.0

    Hi
Yes iDVD 5 doesn't work with Leopard.
Installing iLife08 will install iDVD 08 which works BUT NOW iMovie'08 will not work
though it needs a G5 1.9GHz minimum. So You need to download iMovie HD 6 (6.0.4)
which You are entitled to as an iLife08 owner.

  • Is it true MS Office doesn't work with Lion?

I just purchased OSX Lion and while it was downloading I began to read the reviews.  I saw multiple comments that MS Office doesn't work with Lion.  I forced a shutdown on my MacBook Pro because I couldn't see any other way to stop the LIon download.  Now with it back on, the download is paused.  I don't want to resume it until I find out if it's true about office.  Any help?

Len , MS2008 does require Rosetta. Ms2011 does not.
W7ox, I tried 2 different licenses. I have 12 licenses here on site. I resorted to reading it straight off the box and still no joy. Very strange!
Incidently. I can not access the Snow leopard Server either via the normal 'Go' and 'connect to Server'.
Have tried afp and SMB. no joy.
I am wondering if the ethernet Dinlge adpater to the Rj45 connector has any hardware issues?? will keep expeirmenting and any feedback appreciated, as I am NOT going ahead with any Lion updates on 12 macs until I know more about its bugs! ciao

DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM FORMAC! They make quality products, but their customer service is a big time joke! They won't take care of you.

I have a printer epson TX210, but it doesn't work with my time-capsule. What need to do?

    What have you tried?
You are going to get nowhere quick with the 6.1 utility in Mountain Lion if this is the only OS you have available.
Look up how to install 5.6 utility under ML. At least then you can see printers. That is assuming you are trying to use USB.
Has this worked ever on Mountain Lion? Did you download the drivers for that printer for ML?
Plug it into a computer directly.. does it work? If it doesn't work locally it sure will not work via the network.

I remember that this feature was working great on my previous OS, and it's really important for me to find a solution because quicklook is an absolutely amazing feature of our Macs.
I've tryed to download plugins, restoring permissions or even trying it with a guest user, but no success.
