Hardware Acceleration Stopped Working
So last night when my computer shut down, it made some updates. I believe it made both windows (Windows 7 64 bit) and nvidia updates (Nvidia GeForce GTX 580). Prior to today, 3D worked great on this machine. Now, all my 3D projects are running slow, spiking the CPU, and showing Context3D.driverInfo is showing “software (direct)". I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and rolled back my Nvidia Drivers but nothing has worked. System Recovery is not completing so I can’t roll everything back… any advice/solution? I am running all Adobe Air 3.2 projects from Flash Builder4.6 with the Air3.2 SDK.

Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended 64-Bit GPU Acceleration Stopped Working
I've been using Photoshop CS6 Extended 64-bit when one day the GPU acceleration features stopped working. I closed the application and restarted it and the GPU acceleration still didn't work. I couldn't rotate the canvas or use scrubby zoom. I rebooted my system and it still wasn't working. I check my performance preferences and my graphics processor was detected with the "Use Graphics Processor" box checked. I unchecked it and rechecked but the GPU acceleration still wasn't working. I uninstalled Photoshop CS6 and reinstalled it. I got the GPU acceleration to work opening the application right after the install. I close Photoshop CS6 64-bit and reopened it and the GPU acceleration wasn't working again. I am able to use GPU acceleration features in Photoshop CS6 32-bit with no problem. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Ultimate Edition and I have a GeForce 280m GTX GPU. Would there be anyone out there who can help me with this issue. Thanks.
From what I gathered on this Forum there is a good chance that it may be related to the driver – unfortunately it could be either becasuse it’s obsolete or a bad new version.

Why is hardware acceleration not working?
Hi. I own an ASUS N61JV-X2 notebook PC. I am using Mozilla Firefox 4.0.1 for Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. My laptop comes with two graphics cards: an Intel HD GPU and a nVIDIA GeForce GT 325M with 1 GB DDR3 VRAM GPU. It also comes with nVIDIA Optimus technology. I configured my nVIDIA Control Panel to make Mozilla Firefox utilize my nVIDIA GeForce GT 325M GPU when I launch the web browser.
Currently, it is not utilizing my nVIDIA GeForce GT 325M GPU. When I type in about:support, it lists my Intel HD Graphics as the GPU being used with both Direct2D Enabled and DirectWrited Enabled set to true and GPU Accelerated Windows showing 1/1 Direct3D 10.
This is not correct. It used to show my nVIDIA GeForce GT 325M GPU with 1 GB of VRAM.
I left a thread on the nVIDIA support forums, but no one has replied yet so I thought to contact Mozilla regarding this problem.
How do I enable Mozilla Firefox to use hardware acceleration so that it utilizes my nVIDIA GeForce GT 325M GPU again?
For the record, I did turn on use hardware acceleration when available under the Advanced tab within my Mozilla Firefox configuration settings.I am having the same issue as wellwu with FF 4.0.1.
My computer is a Dell / Alienware MX11R3 with Nvidia GeForce GT 540m and Intel HD 3000 display adapters.
The issue does not occur with the Google Chrome browser. On Chrome the Nvidia drivers load automatically. WebGL works fine.
I am not sure how to find out if the Nvidia adapter is working on IE 9.

HP Pro Tablet 608 - Windows 10 - Power and Volume hardware buttons stopped working - Driver Issue
I upgraded my newly received HP Pro Tablet 608 to Windows 10 and now the power and volume buttons don't work anymore. The single press of Power button doesn't turn off the screen or put the tablet to sleep, plus the Volume button doesn't do anything either. I noticed that there are two drivers in the Device Manager that have errors:1) GPIO Buttons Driver (msgpiowin32.inf)2) HID Button Over Interrupt Driver (hidinterrupt.inf) I have tried disabling and enabling and updating driver software (it says they are up-to-date) but to no avail. I also Refreshed the PC but still have the same issue. I used the "Hardware and Device troubleshooter" and it worked, until I restarted the tablet and then it stopped working again. And now even the Troubleshooter is not able to fix it anymore. Disabling the Windows Defender didn't help either. Under the Driver properties for both "GPIO Buttons Driver (msgpiowin32.inf)" and "HID Button Over Interrupt Driver (hidinterrupt.inf)", under Device status I get the message "This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use (Code 12). If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system". Does this provide a clue on how to fix this? I am getting very frustrated with these issues with the tablet, and hoping for some help before my return window for the tablet runs out. Please help!

OpenGL Hardware acceleration not working?
Hey everyone, it seems I've run into a bit of a road block.
I've been using Photoshop CS4 for a while, but I just realized it had OpenGL hardware acceleration. I tried to use it, but I found I couldn't check the box to enable.
I have a Radeon X800 XT, AMD Dual Core x64, and 2gigs of RAM. (plenty of disk space to go with that.) Monitor running at 1680x1050.
On the ATI support, it lists the X800 as having OpenGL 2.0, which is the minimum requiremnt to use the Hardware acceleration.
Any possible fixes?

[Solved]I don't know if hardware acceleration is working
I often watch movies in HD, and when using XBMC, they sometimes lag and/or get out of sync (audio/video). So recently I tried mplayer, and it seems better, but I've also looked into va-api. So I grabbed the pkgbuild for mplayer-vaapi (in community) and edited it to include pulseaudio and then built and installed it. But when trying 'mplayer -ao pulse -vo vaapi [movie] I don't really notice any difference. Htop shows cpu usage 70-90%, I thought it would be lower if it is working. My hardware is not the best though, so maybe it is? how do I know?

If I use vo=vaapi and va=vaapi, I get audio, but video is black. Mplayer seems to think it's working, though there is no video.

At least it syncs perfectly now, and I did not need to add anything to get pulse support. So thanks for the help! I'll keep my eyes open for va-api support

Mercury Playback GPU Acceleration stopped working after update
I just updated all my Adobe Software for the first time since getting my new workstation, and my Mercury GPU acceleation no longer works (software only). I am running a GTX 670 (driver version 9.18.13.697) and Premiere Pro 64-bit (version 6.0.3).
Any suggestions? It litterally happened in the middle of a project just today and I'm stumped.

Hardware acceleration doesn't work anymore since version 10.2.153.1

Today I updated my flash player to the newest version and its hardware acceleration stopped working. Everything was ok with previous version (10.2.152.32 I guess). I tested it on YouTube - now I get "undefined video rendering" instead of accelerated. Sometimes, when I go to fullscreen before playing the video acceleration turns on but when I go back to the normal mode it shows as undefined or software video rendering. On the other sites (vimeo, dailymotion) I can't open "show video info" dialog so I can't check it but I see more CPU usage in my task manager. Anybody with the same problem?
OS: Windows XP SP3
Browser: Firefox 4 and IE 8 (tested on both)

Drivers: Nvidia 266.58

EDIT: I downgraded the flash player to previous version (after uninstalling the newest) and hardware acceleration still doesn't work. So what may be the problem? I suspect what's happening here is that YouTube recently made changes on their side that disabled StageVideo under certain conditions. This change has been most prominent on Windows, but as you noted it sometimes works during full screen playback. We've been actively investigating the issues reported in the forum (both here and on youtube's.) We're trying to find reproducable cases where the video playback is black/white yet the audio still works, corrupted video, or other issues with hardware acceleration enabled. If you'd like, we'd love to get your feedback on a few tests:

Problem with hardware acceleration on HBO GO
I just got a Zotac ZBOX AD02 (AMD E-350 APU w/ Radeon HD 6310) and in general it's working great. However, I have a problem with Flash video on HBO GO. For the first minute or so of steaming video, everything seems perfect. Video is high quality and smooth, CPU is around 50%. Then after a minute or two there will always be some visible video glitch and CPU utilization will jump up to 90-100% and playback becomes extremely choppy. So I'm guessing Flash hardware acceleration is working initially, then something happens that kills the hardware acceleration, and of course the E-350 CPU is not up the task by itself.
The really strange thing is that it seems to be specific to HBO GO. I can stream HD all day long from Amazon Instant Video and Youtube (at least when Youtube is able to dish it out fast enough). And it's definitely not a bandwidth problem. I have Comcast cable (20Mb down), and a bigger computer I have hooked up to another TV has no problem with HBO GO. I think the same problem happens on the bigger computer, but it's faster CPU can overcome the lack of hardware acceleration.
I've got the latest drivers from AMD and the latest Flash player (even tried the 11 beta) and have tried all the main browsers (FF, IE, Chrome), but it's always the same: 1-2 minutes of perfect playback and moderate CPU utilization, then jacked up CPU and choppy playback.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any way to contact HBO GO directly about this problem (support links just refer you to your cable provider), so I thought I'd give it a shot here. Is anyone else out there having this problem with HBO GO or any other Flash video sites? Any thoughts on what else I could do to track down the root cause?Well, my idea with 10.x on IE didn't really work. Results were not nearly as good as in Firefox, and I'm not willing to use 10.x in my main browser.
However, based on your insight on the wmode=transparent issue, I started playing around with a Greasemonkey script to force wmode=direct, and I think it actually works. I haven't been able to try it at home yet on the problem PC, but here on my work PC (don't tell anyone I'm not actually working) it makes a massive difference in CPU utilization. Without the script CPU is around 80-90% during video playback. When I enable the script it drops to around 20%. The only issue is that I usually have to refresh the page once video playback starts to get wmode=direct to take effect (start video playback, then once the video playback page loads, hit refresh in the browser).

Is there a way to have hardware acceleration without the text font change? I remember there was a way to go into settings before and getting hardware acceleration to work without the font change. Unfortunately I lost ALL my previous setting when uninstalling the beta ver Nightly and clicking delete settings :(.
Also, I fixed a problem before where firefox was visually eye straining to me, I think it was some settings in anti-alias tuner, but I cant seem to find the right settings that puts less strain on my eyes, anyone know? Audigy Gamer hardware accelerated or not??

hey! My first post here and asking for some help My english is quite bad so I will try my best. I just bought a Sound Blaster "Audigy () Gamer" used to a friend for replace the onboard Soundmax AC97 of my ASUS A7V8X-X mobo. I disable that one on BIOS and I installed the Audigy Gamer with the latest drivers (Sound Blaster Audigy, Audigy 2 series and Audigy 4 series Driver 02.09.006) all went fine. I test the sound with DXDIAG and all test went fine BUT here my question, the hardware acceleration is working fine? I ask this because in ONE part of the DX 9.0c settings table it says "software" and in all the others says "hardware"

I try the game "Armed Assault" and the sounds are MUCH nicer and clear with this card, I didn?t hear anymore the "popping" I use to have with the onboard card (yeah!) so that make me think that the hardware acceleration have to be running ok helping the CPU to handle better the game sounds... but that is just a thought.

The hardware acceleration (including Video Scaler, H264 and Stage Video) is not working any more.
The failure on hardware H264 decoding is one thing. It just cost more CPU and Battery Life.
But total failure on even Video Scaler is just too painful.I'm experiencing this problem as well, and I don't have a solution, but I think I'm at least zeroing in on the cause. Running iTunes 10.2.1 on a Win7 PC, I noticed that Bonjour had stopped running in my list of services when the Remote app on my iPhone suddenly stopped working. I started the Bonjour service again and rebooted but iTunes would hang at the "Verifying Remote Passcode" message. I uninstalled Bonjour 2.0.2 and reinstalled an earlier version, but iTunes wouldn't even see my iPhone in the list of devices anymore. I updated Bonjour back to 2.0.2 and I can once again see the iPhone and put in the 4 digit code, but it still hangs at passcode verification.
I have fresh installations of the newest versions of iTunes, Remote, and Bonjour. Known remotes have been cleared and firewalls have been turned off. I'm inclined to think that the sudden stoppage of Bonjour as a service is related to the root cause of Remote and iTunes not pairing anymore. Maybe an update screwed something up? -
Display Driver has stopped responding and has recovered. bsod if I use mercury hardware acceleration
Hi, I bought a cheap NVIDIA card to go alongside my GTX285 to allow me to use a third monitor for timeline playback. I've done this before with an ati card with no issues but needed to change to a single height card to get the extra slot back.
It installed it's drivers and then whenever I opened premiere CS6 it would immediately hang and blue screen. I removed the card and rolled back to old drivers but no change. NVIDIA support gave me beta drivers but no change either. They suggested that my card or motherboard was faulty. (Motherboard is a EVGA Sr2) Eventually I found I can edit normally if I turn off hardware acceleration for the mercury playback engine and leave it as software only. Not much use when my GPU supports CUDA.
Even now the display driver keeps giving me the "stopped responding" message with or without premiere open so I'm thinking there is some hardware issue somewhere. The Blue screen only occurs when I use mercury hardware acceleration.
I have ordered a GTX470 because I can't afford to spend hundreds on a 690 etc.
The current driver version is 306.97, error occurs in CS5 and CS6
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Michael.The reason the ATI card worked was because that is completely 2 separate drivers. That makes it easier for the OS to sort out the device ID's although that can cause issues with some applications and the ram shadowing done by Win 7 compositing mode. However when you use 2 Nvidia GPU's, the drivers are essentially the same as far as what the OS see's but they have completely different support for things like Direct X. This often can cause major issues with drawing out on the screen. The other issue is the 2 cards may not have resource charts that are far enough apart to avoid resource issues. If you cant return the 470 card then you may want to try a 1GB 620 card for the 2nd video card and see if that will work. That will minimize the resource shadowing and hopefully run the 600 series card in the Direct X version the 400 series card will run.

How to tell if H.264 hardware-accelerated playback is working?
Hi everyone,
I noticed that when playing an 864x480 H.264-encoded file with Quicktime X and then with VLC, while checking the Activity Monitor app at the same time, I get CPU usage of 20~25 % with QTX and 15~20 % with VLC. This makes me doubtful that my MacBook is actually using the much-touted Snow Leopard H.264 hardware acceleration.
How can I be completely sure? And if it's indeed not working for me, how can I fix it?

What do you know about the encoders that were used with them?
Did you make them from scratch and process them to their current state or did you pick them up from some other source?
Until you test with something you have control over and know the underlying details, you won't learn much more I think. -
Yoga 2 Pro Webcam suddenly stopped working....(not a hardware problem!)
Hi everyone,
I've had the yoga 2 pro for about a year now - took a little bit of fiddling to get it working just right (clean OEM win 8.1 install and installing drivers in the right order etc) but I had it working just perfect then....
About a week ago the webcam stopped working during a skype call. I tried reinstalling the drivers etc and messed around for 2 days trying to get it working again. The LED light comes on when it's engaged and it says it's present and working in device manager but I get no picture on skype or any other program.
I reinstalled windows 8.1 from scratch in the hope that this would solve it but same issue.
So I assumed it was a hardware fault and thought stuff it!
But then last night I installed Windows 7 32 bit on VMWare to run some of the older 32 bit programs and the webcam works perfectly within this virtual OS!! So it doesn't seem to be a hardware problem after all.
I've tried everything - installing the bison & Liteon drivers from the Lenovo website, installing the generic win 8 drivers etc but NOTHING WORKS!!
Can you help? I just want to get this thing working again!!
THANKS!Unfortunately I've reinstalled the driver after uninstalling it from the device manager 10 times. I also formatted and reinstalled, but that didn't fix anything.
The camera works for the camera app + the webcam test online. I've tried rollback on the drivers, and installing earlier versions of skype with no luck.
Very strange, all it does is show the loading sign, and never loads.
This is the desktop version of skype btw. I'm going to try it with the non-dekstop version tonight and see if it works.
EDIT: Is there any other camera source besides 'Lenovo EasyCamera'? Their are two drivers on the drivers page, which one is recommended?
