Hardware Address error/warning
anyone ever see this during a setup?
WARNING: Hardware address cc:cc:cc:dd:dd:dd trying to be our address 192.168.10.10
I'm setting up a T2000 and going through newtwork setup, but on boot up I get that error/warning.
any thoughts?
That's a network configuration issue.
A generic IP address conflict.
As it states, there's another computer on your subnet that's already using that IP.
A Google search with "hardware address trying to be " keywords gets you 4,180,000+ results on this issue.
Pick a different IP for your new system,
or find that other system and have it use a different IP.

Hardware Crash Error Warning When Connecting ipod to PC
I have just purchased a 5G ipod (60GB) & find when I try updating my itunes library to my ipod I keep getting hardware crash warnings. It stops for a bit & then starts again or just freezes up, the problem is all the stuff was getting layered up on the ipod in unusable bits so I had to restore the ipod using the updater. Because I am short of USB connections I have plugged the USB into a powered USB multitap connector. Does anyone know why these intermitant crashes are happening & how to stop them? Thanks.
Windows XP Pro
Windows XP ProWhen I connect my ipod to USB immediately following taking it off my AC adapter, it causes my computer (PC, XP) to restart.
Reinstall Windows. This has nothing to do with iTunes or any other Apple software, because that functionality is entirely Windows based.
If reinstalling windows fresh (and doing all the updates) doesn't fix it, then you have a hardware problem on the PC. -
Hi,
When my system boots up the following error message is prompted:
WARNING:IP: Hardware address '02:bf:0a:d0:00:2a' trying to be our address
I perused documentation and it states that this occurrs when the ATM lane device is set to promiscuous mode by running snoop -d lane0. The corrective action to be taken should be to not ket the ATM lane device rin in promiscuous mode & not to ignore the warning.
What I want to know is how to implement the resolution?
Thanks!Ok, my mistake.
So that PC is also trying to use 192.168.0.1.
And it must be doing arp broadcasts on the LAN.
Solaris should probably be ignoring them since it has an 10.x.x.x address on the lan. So it shouldnt care about 192.168.0.x addresses on the LAN.
Only on the crossover network.
But apparently it cares anyway.
So I suggest you change the cluster heartbeat addresses to something else thats less likely to be chosen by random computers on your lan.
Or figure out why the PC is trying to use 192.168.0.1. It could be someone running vmware or virtual box.
Or vlan you lan, so your critical servers arent sharing a network with random poorly configured PC's. -

WARNING: IP: Hardware address '08:00:20:c4:1f:e8' trying to be our address 192.168.001.001
I have 2nodes of Sun solaris9 and both are configured in Veritas Cluster. The cluster nodes have 2 heartbeats connected cross.
The cross cables are connected with the below IP's
LAN1 of node1 192.168.2.1
LAN2 of node1 192.168.2.2
LAN1 of node2 192.168.1.1
LAN2 of node2 192.168.1.2
All the above LAN are connected with cross but still there is ip conflict message in the dmesg. The error is mention aboveOk, my mistake.

Sun Trunking 1.& kern Warning Hardware address trying to be our IP addresse
Using Sun Trunking 1.3 on a solaris 10 11/06 V490 server.
setenv local-mac-address? is set to true
Obviously server Aggregate MAC address corresponds to first NIC local MAC address. Second NIC has its specific MAC address.
Aggregate seams OK (traffic continues undisrupted when unplugging a card)
but :
1) Should I worry kernel is logging from toime to time messages such as :
WARNING: IP: Hardware address '00:14:4f:3b:60:f4' trying to be our address IP_address !
2) There is no load balancing between the 2 NIC interfaces as reported by nettr -stats 0 interval=2
Traffic always flows using NIC 2.
Appreciated,
Lor.That depends on the switch.
SunTrunking 1.3 is compatible with Cisco EtherChannel for example. I believe there's a manual configuration on the switch to say that these two ports are participating in an etherchannel linkage. SunTrunking is an 802.11ad protocol. If they haven't done that, then the switch is just assuming the two ports are normal and have separate hosts behind them.
If instead of SunTrunking you were using Solaris 10 Link Aggregation, then you'd ask the networking guys to turn on LACP, which sets up a communication so the devices can describe their trunk/network setup. SunTrunking doesn't let you do that.
What interfaces do you have on the Solaris box?

what are the meanings of Apple Hardware Test error codes 4m0t/4/40000003:hdd-1300 and 4m0t/4/40000003:hdd-1308?
Thanks - Even though I'm years out of warranty I got chat help from Apple (I said they should help me since the codes aren't published.) We covered three different questions, and although I didn't get a specific decoding of the error code, I got confirmation of what other comments here imply - it might have helped that I indicated I'd already been here - and useful links to how to do back ups, including to CD(s). (I don't have a lot of data on this computer yet)
Now I need to figure out how to decide how hot-to-the-touch is "too hot" for the metal frame at the top of the iMac to decide whether I'm getting adequate fan performance or insufficient. While chatting I initially reported it was cool at the bottom and warm at the top. Apple hadn't asked, but their response prompted me to feel it again, and I'd say the top was hot, not warm - I updated but Apple didn't comment further except to conclude after addressing the other questions that I should take it in for further assessment - don't really want to bother with that. -

Hardware address trying to be our address
We get this kern.warning approximately every 3/4 of an hour.
WARNING: IP: Hardware address '08:00:20:c4:1f:e8' trying to be our address 192.168.001.001
I found a description on sunsolve. What confuses me with this is the fact, that not only 192.168.001.001 is our address but 08:00:20:c4:1f:e8 is our hardware address too.
Has anyone made some experiences with this?
Thanks in advance
FrankIf you are trying to use SunTrunking or link aggregation, yes, the switch or network device must be configured to support it as well.
Otherwise one link sends a packet, the switch doesn't realize the links are to the same logical interface and returns the packet on the other link. The host sees the return packet and complains about an IP conflict.
For SunTrunking you probabaly have to configure etherchannel (or the equivalent) manually. For link aggregation you probably want to configure LACP to get the link correct.

Mac mini server: Hardware test error on Hard Drive
Mac mini server: Hardware test error on Hard Drive
'checking for slow read failures': ERROR - Target device access failure - Test failed.
CAN I ACCESS HD (which is our data server) EVER AGAIN? IF SO, HOW?
Meanwhile we wonder if this is really a hardware error. It all happened during writing a time machine backup.
Probably while writing it, some data was relocated by accident, but we can not 100%-sure remember the sequence of actions :/
This is our trauma history:
- time machine got increasingly slower in writing a backup
- we quit the backup
- we switched off the mac mini (on power button)
- we switched on the mac mini
- we stopped time machine to the rules
- we shut down mac mini via command
- we booted the mac mini in save mode
- we see a loading bar
- no progress after 10th of loading bar
- switched off (power button)
- when we now switch on the loading bar below the apple-logo is all we see + the little wheel
- we started with cmd+alt+p+r pressed
- mac mini restarted but showed the loading bar scenario without progress again
- we started with 'd' pressed and did the hardware test (see above)
- we started with 'alt' pressed but it does not give us the recoverydrive to run the last backup
ANY IDEAS?
IS IT A SOFTWARE- OR HARDWARE ERROR?

I thnk Intenal 2.5" Drives for servers is silly, & Ithink the Minis & iMacs re poorly cooled.
I'd get Temprature Monitor & see what temps they're running.
Is Temperature Monitor an app or a device? If it's a temperature problem then that is essentially a design problem. Two drive failures in the same Mac mini server in four months combined with the fact that they're not really user serviceable already has me 90% on the way back to more pragmatically designed Linux servers. I think it would be foolish to waste any more money on these minis for my business hosting. -
I'm getting a Download Error warning after attempting to download and install CC. No error code – just a button prompt to Reload Applications which takes me straight back to the Download Error. All my previously installed CC apps work fine but I need to upgrde to be compatible with colleagues. Thanks
I'm having exactly the same problem......I'm running an iMac with OS X 10.10.1. We have BT fibre optic business broadband. Everything has been running just fine until about 2 weeks ago when the apps in my CC panel just disappeared. I have made no changes to our systems and I am the only person to administer it all.....
