Hardware Compatibility with dv4-2049wm

Hi,
I have a dv4-2049wm laptop and I am planning to upgrade my laptop. May I ask if which are the highest CPU & GPU that is compatible with my laptop?
Also, whether I upgrade my laptop or not, are there hardware that decrease my laptop's temperature (even though I'm not in air-conditioned places, just room temperature), like heat sinkers or such?
Thank you!

Here is your service manual:
Manual
You can install up to a 2.53 ghz i5 and there are motherboards with integrated and discrete graphics. Your laptop is a Walmart special. It would need a whole new motherboard and processor to do an upgrade from the AMD processor that is in it. Those would cost way more than the laptop did when new, not to mention the cost of labor and the risk of severe damage from the upgrade. In most cases, you cannot be thinking in terms of upgrading a laptop other than the memory and hard drive. Graphics are not upgradeable at all and a processor upgrade is like brain surgery, with all the expense, difficulty and uncertainty of the outcome to the patient. Sell that laptop and buy a new one and you will come out way ahead.
As far as the heat, that is par for the course with an AMD laptop. There is no other heatsink available and if you can hear the fan turning yours is working. You can try blowing out the exhaust vents with compressed air, but the most likely repair is to open it up and remove dust from around the processor and install new thermal compound between the cpu and heatsink. That service can be done by following the steps in the Manual above for getting to the CPU. You can also try one of the usb-powered laptop coolers sold at Best Buy, etc..

  • This hardware not compatable with Windows XP due to Logo signage

    My bother (who resides in another state) just purchased an HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer. He tried to connect it to his computer than has XP Pro as the OS, and gets the following error message:
    "this hardware not compatable with Windows XP due to Logo signage"
    Anyone run across or heard of this problem?

    Hi,
    This explaination may help. The CD which came with the printer may not cover for this situation. My suggestion: go to this site to download XP driver & application then install them on the XP machine.

  • What Superdrive (external USB) is compatable with Mountain Lion 10.8.3?

    What Superdrive (external USB) is compatable with Mountain Lion 10.8.3?
    My New install of 10.8.3, will now.... not reconize anything I put in my drive... it spits it back out!
    Superdrive does NOT reconize any activity.
    It will show my information on/of my drive...but, that is about it...
    Is there a patch/fix for this issue with 10.8.3?
    If not...why is Apple (seemingly) ignoring this issue? There are so many with the same complaint.
    They want $19 to answer this question...why? I just bought the upgrade to 10.8.3 a couple of days ago.
    Anyone have any suggestion, beside switching BACK to Microsoft...?

    Sorry about the serial number...wasn't thinking.  Mentally noted.
    I would think it to not be too much, to ask for it to be able to read/write to the listed capablities list with the product (superdrive). The different media type...

    This worked fine before upgrading to 10.8.3   was at 10.7.5....

  • Is there some secret to getting Pentax K-3 .dng files to display thumbnails when importing to an iPad (mini w/retina)? Files import fine, but no thumbnail. Mac OS has compatability with those files.

    Is there some secret to getting Pentax K-3 .dng files to display thumbnails when importing to an iPad (mini w/retina)? Files import fine, but no thumbnail. Mac OS had compatibility with those files added long ago. Am I missing something?

    I agree Terrance. However, I was able to copy other large batches of other files (my music for example) without any issues. The issue only showed up when copying iPhoto's library and/or the photos themselves. This was repeated 3 times; I copied all my other files to the drive then it unmounted on iPhoto. And, as I said, again when I started with a fresh reformat and just iPhoto. That does not seem like hardware to me if it is only happening with one set of files.
    I have managed to get the iPhoto library to work on my other external drive. It wanted a rebuild twice and a thumbnail rebuild once. I am now attempting to copy it over to the new HGST internal drive.
    Anyone have a suggestion for alternatives to iPhoto? I have aperture, maybe I will try that. But from what I understand, it just shares the same library as iPhoto.

  • A730 keyboard and mouse compatibility with other machines

    I would like to have a USB keyboard mouse with the machine.  Unfortunately there is not an option for that with this machine.  I would like to sell the k/m that comes with the machine.
    What machines including ones not made my Lenovo would the k/m be compatible with?
    According to the Lenovo support page for the drivers for this k/m the drivers are compatable with various Lenovo machines.
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS031648
    Does that mean the k/m are compatable with those machines?
    Is a certain piece of hardware other than the k/b required for it to work?  If so, is that piece of hardware available after market?

    Thank you Assaf for taking the time to install the game to check to see if you got a similar problem
    honestly i'm not sure its my 865PE Neo2 LS or not,it may be a software issue. I'm just guessing because that was a the biggest change in my system before I started to experiance this problem.
    I have experianced this problem with the default windows drivers as well as with logitechs current Mouseware drivers, although i have not tried to install older mouseware drivers
    I've had lockups with CoreCell installed as well as removed.In DirectX 8.1 as well as DirectX 9
    I thought perhaps it might have been my soundcard because prior to buying that I didnt have any problems...so I removed that...but i still got the same problem (although as i type this i realize i didnt uninstall the Audigy software before i tested....hhmmm. I'll have to test that)
    I have noticed it happens more often in OSP/Quake3 (a competition mod) than in plain vanilla Quake3, but it does happen in both.
    One intersting thing i discovered by trying out a Belkin KB with my set up was that when i hit a certain combination of keys it would exec a chat bind i had bound to a whole other key ?!?
    the combination was r + g + spacebar = keypad home
    That particular problem stopped once I went back to original Keyboard. It did stick in my mind however that when playing Q3 i am hitting combinations of keys all the time and that maybe I'm hitting a combination that is problematic for my system. I have not been able to figure out what that combintion is yet (I tried for quite a while ...but was unable to find the correct combination to reproduce the problem )

  • Hardware Compatibility List for installation of solaris 10 on DELL units

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to install solaris 10 on a few Dell servers and desktops.
    I was unable to install on Dell PowerEdge SC1435 and noticed it is not on the HCL for Dell servers. This unit has dual core AMD Opteron processors. Is the HCL kept up to date, I noticed items 58 and 59 had the same description (SC1430). Should I abondon further attempts and go to the SC2950 which is on the HCL?
    Also on the desktop side, both my choices, Dell OptiPlex 745 dual core, and Dell Precision 690 dual core are not on the HCL. A possible alternative on the HCL is the Precision 670.
    Any info would be apprecitate.

    I am also having the same issue on a Dell Poweredge SC1435. I get a "ERROR: The disc you inserted is not a Solaris OS/DVD" right after I select the machine to automatically reboot after it finishes installing. It then kicks me out to a Unix shell prompt and I notice that the CD is no longer mounted when I do a "df -k". I've done some research on the web and none of the proposed solutions worked. I'm assuming this has something to do with hardware conflicts with the machine and the fact that the machine is not on the Hardware Compat List yet.
    Plus, I know my cd media is good, since I was able to install Solaris 10 x86 perfectly fine on my Dell Poweredge SC420. I'm using the latest Solaris 10 11/06 CD media.

    I purchased my son a 80GB Classic for christmas and it has been great. Then out of the blue when he hooked it up to his computer two weeks ago to purchase new music the computer would not recognize it. I have tried the five R's as recommended and updated all his programs as suggested. Any advice would be Greatly appreciated. This is the message we get when we plug the ipod into the usb " The software you are installing for hardware has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP." Thank you!

  • Mountain Lion. hardware compatibly !!?

    Mountain Lion. hardware compatibly !!?
    Sadly, its feel the wheels are falling off the Apple cart...
    MobileMe is written off, Web Gallery ended and other great tools that I actually used, and invested in, I sold Apple to friends, who loved what they saw.  I will no longer praise Apple.
    I keep my MB Pro 17inch in good condition, cost a fortune - just as well, as thats now been dropped from the MP Pro Range.
    And as its seems Apple steams ahead with all things "New" - your upgrade System requirements need to mention "hardware no less than 2 years old" / "A few thousand $ spare cash to upgrade to the latest and greatest hardware, that will also be out of date in 2 years"....
    So why bother any more?  Apple seem to have dropped those who contributed large amounts of cash, to get it to where it is today - and now we are all being dumped - as NEW customers are the target audience now - the "masses"...who like shiny new things.
    I think I'm done with Apple - Sorry guys -  I expected more, a little "loyalty bonus" - instead of being shafted, like all the other large company's seem to do... Now you aint so different, or particularily clever.
    Your "review" pages for Mountain Lion do not appear to be working ...over loaded possibly?

    If you are referring to airplay mirroring, other tech websites have stated that the reason why only sandy bridge and ivy bridge macs have it is because of the h.264 gpu accelerated encoding that intel integrated into their gpus. The encode process reduces the severe burden on the cpu to decompress the video output so that it can be transferred to the apple tv without hitches. Burdening the cpu will greatly affect system performance unless you reduce the quality of the stream. Airparrot is a useful tool to stream to an apple tv, but it has serious performance hiccups unless your cpu is a beast.
    Apple so far has been about ease of use and simplicity. Tinkering around with settings to get something to work doesnt really fall into that policy. If you absolutely need the feature, you can just buy airparrot. Aeeing as the upgrade only costs $20 for 200 improvements, big and small, and airparrot costs $10 for just 1 feature, it isnt really that bad of a deal.
    Other than that, the majority of mountain lions features run on hardware as old as 2007. The most important features i think should be the performance improvements in almost all areas. Lion is to mountain lion as leopard is to snow leopard. Take it as you will but it is a good upgrade for just $20.

  • Logic Pro X compatibility with mbox 2 mini and 2009 core duo macbook

    I currently have Pro Tools LE 8.0.3 and an Mbox2 Mini, both of which amazingly still work on Mountain Lion 10.8.4.  I'm interested in learning Logic and am trying to confirm compatitility with the Mbox2 Mini on a first generation core duo Aluminum Macbook (2.4 Ghz) running 4gb of RAM.  The system requirements just say 10.8.4 or later with a 64 bit processor.  The Macbook runs fine, and I primarily just record stereo piano tracks, so it's not like I'm going to have 16 tracks running on it.  Anyone using an Mbox2 Mini, and any issues with the hardware?

    It's not an external device's compatibility with LPX that matters...
    It's your external hardware's compatibility with whatever OS X version you are using to run LPX in.... that is important.
    Im guessing you upgraded OS X about the same time you switched to LPX?
    So....
    Make sure you have installed the drivers and software from this page....
    http://www.apogeedigital.com/support/quartet#tab-id-1
    Failing that, contact Apogee support for further assistance
    http://www.apogeedigital.com/support/contact-support
    Note: Why is it showing Duet and not Quartet briefly? Are you sure you installed the correct drivers or did you, at one time have a Duet?
    Additional: You might want to try this.. though I doubt it will fix things... but this can cure all kinds of weird issues...
    Delete both the main plist and the CS file...
    Delete the user preferences
    You can resolve many issues by restoring Logic Pro X back to its original settings. This will not impact your media files. To reset your Logic Pro X user preference settings to their original state, do the following:
    Quit Logic Pro
    In the Finder, choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.
    Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
    Press the Go button.
    Remove the com.apple.logic10.plist file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro X User Manual for details on how to do this. If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro X, then you may also wish to delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.
    Restart the computer.
    Note: if you cannot find either of these files you didn't follow the instructions exactly as described

  • Is UCCX 8.5(1) compatable with CUCM 8.6

    I just checked the Cisco Unified Contact Center Express (Cisco Unified CCX) Software and Hardware Compatibility Guide and CUCM 8.6 is not listed yet.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_compatibility/matrix/crscomtx.pdf
    CUCM 8.6 addresses quite a few bugs specific to running CUCM on UCS was recommended to me by TAC.
    If its not compatible yet, is there a timeframe when the compatibility guide will be updated to reflect CUCM 8.6 ?
    Will it be with the upcoming SU2 for UCCX 8.5(1) ?
    Thanks

    Bvanbenschoten,
         CUCM is not listed currently on the internal guides even for SU2.  It is possible this may get updated, but it will be a while before we know this.  CUCM certification generally lags the release of the product if for no other reason then it is such a quickly released product.  If you would like, you can post this question back in about 2 months and hopefully we'll have some news.  If I see something before then, I'll certainly let you know too.

    http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/ThinkPad_Advanced_Mini_Dock states that the dock from the z60t is compatable with the T400/500.  I am not sure about compatability with the T410/510.
    The hard drive should be able to boot assuming you do not have any security turned on, however keep in mind XP is very finicky when it comes to hardware being changed and these two system will have significantly different hardware.  Most likely you will end up having to transfer the information off your old hd, which could be done with either a ultrabay hd adapter or an inexpensive USB adapter.

  • Current Release Compatibility with Lenovo IdeaPad U300

    Has anyone had the opportunity to use the current release (2011.08.19 at time of writing) on a Lenovo IdeaPad U300? I am thinking about picking one up but want to confirm hardware compatibility before I did so. I looked in the HCL in the Wiki, but didn't see this particular model listed.
    Thank you in advance for your help.

    Understanding that I work for Adobe and I worked on Spry
    features for DW CS3..
    There isn't anything special about working in DW8 with Spry.
    Your widget will render as exploded markup: easy to see content but
    harder to determine layout. But as HTML and CSS, editing should be
    straightforward.
    But I am spoiled by having widget rendering and Spry code
    coloring and hinting in DWCS3 for many months now.
    Widgets render as they do in the browser and you can
    add/remove tabs and switch between them.
    Spry code hinting, esp with the data stuff, is quite fun.
    But, for now, DW8 will do just fine for you.
    Thanks,

  • IMAQ PCI-1424 compatibility with Labview 8.6

    Hi, the computer I used for image analysis work had a broken motherboard problem, and I replaced it with a new one. I removed both the harddisks and the IMAQ board from the old computer to the new one and then installed Labview 8.6, but Labview 8.6 is not compatible with the image processing software programmed using labview 5.0, so I uninstalled Labview 8.6 and re-installed Labview 6.0. I still have some problems to run the image analyzer and processing software. After I uninstalled labview software, the computer cannot start successfully, poping up error information as "Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer".
    Some basic information about that computer and the image acquisition system (set up in 2000) is as follows:
    Windows 2000 operating system;
    Labview Base Package 5.0;
    advanced IMAQ vision for Labview;
    IMAQ PCI-1408, IMAQ-BNC-1 cable, and Ni-IMAQ for Windows NT/95;
    IMAQ-A2504-1 (1m);
    Sony XC-55 1/3" Interline transfer progressive scan CCD, 659 (H) X 494 (V), C-mount with JB-77, CCXC-12P-02 and DKT503M;
    Computar H1212FI 1/2" C-mount 12mm w/focus and iris (10 inch FOV at 24 Working Dist.);
    Computar VM100 extension tube kit;
    Graftek High Frequency Fluorescent Light 11";
    Is the IMAQ hardware I am using compatible with Labview 6.0 or 8.6? Should I install also drivers for IMAQ hardware when I remove IMAQ board? Any solutions for my problems? Thanks very much in advance!!!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi simpra,
    Here are two links to articles that list compatability between Windows & LabVIEW and LabVIEW & IMAQ.   Why do you say that the image processign software was not compatable with LV 8.6?  Did a message appear?  Or did it just not work?  Also, are you talking about Vision Development Module, by chance?
    I'm afraid I can't help with hard drive corruption if that's the case here.  Were you able to get past that?
    My suggestion is to upgrade to the most recent version possible.
    I hope this helps!

So my question is is there any existing hardware that will still run 6.0 SP5 or am I looking at trying to find an old board? The machine currently has 3 SCSI controllers as well as 8 IDE drives so I need something with either 3 PCI slots and 8 IDE support of 4 PCI slots. In addition either another PCI slot or built in gigabit lan and of course video.
    So have there been any driver updates that will allow 6.0 to work with newer hardware or any manufactures still making compatible hardware?
    Vmware ESXi 4.1 (totally legally free, & get it while you can!) is probably your best bet. Set that up as the host, & then setup the nw60sp5 server as a guest under it. Just remember to install the vmware tools for netware. With a setup like that you do not have to care what the physical hardware is, because all netware will care about is the virtual environment provided by ESXi.

  • Windows 8 and itunes 11 compatibility with an ipod

    I have itunes11 and Windows 8. I've called Apple and I've talked to Microsoft. This was months ago. I can download itunes and run it from my laptop but am unable to sync my ipod. I get an error and it automatically reboots my computer. I was told there were known compatibility with itunes and Windows 8.  This was months ago.
    I know how to downgrade itunes to XP or Win 7. This is not the issue. I can download to my laptop and place, it will not sync to my ipod device (which is a fear years old), but when I did talk to support I was told that it was supported. The ipod was not the issue.. It was the incompatibility between the programs.
    I see recent updates in the support community in the past month about production resolution but this still has not resolved my issue. I don't believe purchasing a new ipod is going to resolve the issue either.
    If anyone has successfully developed a workaround or recently downloaded itunes11 w/ Windows 8 and can sync to an apple ipod I would love to know how you did it.

    Im not sure that will solve the issue I have with itunes. I have a lenovo laptop and I think it's just an issue with Apple who has to modify the program for users of Windows 8 so that itunes can be used and to find purchased music. I found the music I purchased through itunes but it's not the full tracks. It said it allows me to download it fully so I can hear the whole track, but needs some kind of capatibility? I have no idea what the problem is. If someone has the answer knowing my computer brand and having windows 8 compatibility issues, please let me know what you suggest.
