Hardware Configuration recommendation for SOA/BPM/OSB 11.1.1.5 Cluster

Hi,
Want to find out what is the recommended hardware configuration including Memory on the box. Trying to install a 2 Node Cluster of SOA 11.1.1.5 with SOA/BPM, BAM, OSB part of the same domain. All binaries to be installed on a NAS. OS is HP-UX. How much memory is ideal on each box if running SOA Service / BPM workflows and processes,BAM,OSB, Custom ADF Task Flow Apps with a large number of transactions. SO wondering what is an ideal configuration. IS there a matrix or a some kind of spreadsheet to come up with the numbers.
Thanks

Unfortunately there is no simple way to figure this out. The recommendation varies on the basis of multiple factors (from load to avg size of the payload). Please contact your local Oracle Sales Representative and they should help you out in identifying the best possible configuration/sizing for your system.

    SOA ---? (eg.2GB RAM)
    BPM--?
    OSB---? (1GB)

do we have 64 bit software for above..I could see only 32 bit version in Oracle download page?

    Hi Siva,
I have ran all the softwares on my system with 8GB but had issues running all of them at the same time. I would say, go with 16 GB (6-8 cores) system in DEV.
    SOA ---? (eg.2GB RAM)2GB for DEV
    BPM--?2GB for DEV
    OSB---? (1GB)2GB for DEV
    BAM---? 1GB for DEV
Database ---? (ForMeta data repository)1GB for DEV (use XE database); you would require 2-3 GB if you want to run Oracle 11g DB
do we have 64 bit software for above..I could see only 32 bit version in Oracle download page? All the softwares are available in 64 bit and you can download them here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/soasuite/downloads/index.html

  • Hardware configuration recommendations for database and VM work

I'm looking for advice on system configuration for a computer to use at work for database, VM, and number-crunching applications. The database work will involve complex SQL queries against MySQL databases in the 5–50 GB range. I'll be using the computer for a variety of projects, and I'd like to configure and run Linux VMs on a per-project basis. The number-crunching will involve engineering applications, most of which will likely run in Linux. The database tables might be accessed from OS X or a Linux VM; I'm not sure at this point.
Advice or recommended reading on internal RAID, SAS, Fibre Channel, and the like would be appreciated. Would it make sense to have a large SATA boot drive that stores the VM and a second high-throughput drive array for the database tables? If so, what are some good options for configuring the latter? Staying in the $5k–$7k range would be nice.
    Thanks,
    Andreas

FileMaker is the best option if you want a good GUI front end. It's not free like MySQL but the price is worth it.

  • Hardware sizing recommendations for B2B Server

My customer Welch Foods Inc. is on 11i Oracle eBusiness Suite and is planning to uptake the latest 1Sync integration features in the PIM product. For out-of-box AS2 connectivity with 1Sync - they are planning to use Oracle B2B Integration Server 10.1.2.3.
They have an average transaction volume of 30 transactions per month. One time - initial load of 20,000 transactions.
Based on the above estimates, they are looking for hardware sizing recommendations for the B2B server.
    Your assistance is much appreciated.
    Asmi Maharishi
    SDM for Welch Foods.

    Thanks for your reply!
Here are the responses to your queries:
    1. Is B2B instance going to run alone in a box
Yes, B2B instance will run alone on a box.2. what will be the size of message
Messages can be anywhere from 5-20 KB3. how many messages will be part of a transaction.
It should be 2 - Registration and publication. But sometimes it depends on how successful the first “registration” goes. Typically we get one or two errors that the users go into PLM, correct and re-send.However, Looking at your current requirement, 30 transaction per month, we can easily address in a 4 GB machine itself.
Additionally, Oracle B2B supports 10+ messages per second in 32GB, 4 processor machine.
Memory suggested above is 4GB, does that take into account memory used by the 10G App server foot print or this is only to take care of messages? Also, how many Processors (Risk IBM) will be needed?

  • What ideal Win Server and Hardware are recommended for 11g DBs

What best Win Server and Hardware are recommended for 11g DBs?
    - Processor
    - Memory
    - Storage
    - Network
    - Etc...
    Following is the scenario:
    - The server will be for development and test DBs
    - More than one databases will be installed each for each project
    - Maximum 4 databases will be accessed each time
    - Maximum DB size for each DB will be in couple of GBs.

Which version of 11g ? For 11gR2, see the requirements here - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e16773/reqs.htm#i1011417
Any server that exceeds these requirement will suffice. Obviously the more the number of processors, the faster the processors, the more the RAM, the more the disk etc etc, the better.

  • Architecture/design templates for SOA-BPM?

    Dear All,
Can anybody point me towards architecture and design templates for SOA-BPM?
It can be platform-agnostic, say from general BPM standpoint; and/or customized to cover product-specific considerations e.g. SOA Suite 11g or OBPM 11g. A logically structured one covering both would be too ideal.
    regards,
    sibendu

You may find some useful stuff among the documents in the IT Strategies from Oracle library. Much of the content is vendor-neutral, and there are a number of reference architectures. The focus is on enterprise architecture, but SOA and BPM play a significant role. It's all free to registered OTN members.

  • Configuring SSL for SOA Server

    Hi All,
I wrkin on SOA suite 11g. I am tryin to implement transport level security. Firstly 1-way authentication and than 2-way mutual authentication. For that I need to enable the SSL for SOA server which is managed by the WLS admin server. As per my knowledge the WLS comes with demoidentity and demotrust keystores. If I need to configure the SSL for SOA server do i need to create new keystores and CA,s or I can use the demo keystores.
Now, in case i need to create new keystores than can i do the same using keytool utility. Additionally, is it possible to make CA using keytool utility? If yes, kindly provide me some links about how to do the same.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Shomit,
If I need to configure the SSL for SOA server do i need to create new keystores and CA,s or I can use the demo keystores. You can use the Demo keystores for dev purpose but it is NOT recommended to use demo keystores for production use.
in case i need to create new keystores than can i do the same using keytool utilityYes, you can do it using Keytool utility.
is it possible to make CA using keytool utility?Actually you can generate a self-signed cert and use that as a CA for signing CSR's.
kindly provide me some links about how to do the sameYou should get everything here -

  • Hardware/software recommendation for video capture prior to edit on home ba

i am a FCP user on a G5. i need to begin to load and initially edit video while traveling and then take that FC project file and load it onto my home based G5 for further work. i am considering a macbook and FC express to accomplish this task.
    my questions are:
does it matter that the new macbooks are intel processors and my G5 is not intel based? will i have any compatibility problems with SW/file transfers.
is FC Express the best SW to use for the load and initial edits?
is there a best practice recommendation for what i want to do?
    thank you.
    dennis
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   use FCP HD 5.0.1

FCP will run on a MacBook. It's not support, and the Studio is not supported because of Motion's graphics requirements, but quite a few people are running FCP on basic MacBooks. Just make sure it has enough RAM.

  • Configuration needed for SOA call to create PO in classic scenario

    Dear Experts,
We are working in the SAP SRM 7.01 with backend system on ecc 6.0 Enhancement pack 5. The scenario configured is classic scenario.
I want to know what are the configurations needed to use SOA calls to create a purchase order in the backend system.
In the system landscape directory, when I use the system type "ERP_3.0" for backend system, the system uses the BAPI 'BAPI_PO_CREATE1' to create a purchase order in the backend system.
When we use the system type "ERP_4.0", it does not use the BAPI 'BAPI_PO_CREATE1' to create purchase order. It tries to use SOA calls to create PO in the backend system. However, it fails to create one.
Could you please let me know what are the settings we need to do to create a purchase order in the backend system?

  • Which Mac Mini Configuration Recommended for Leopard??

I'm about to purchase a new Mini to replace my (beautiful!) G4 Cubes, and would appreciate any comments/recommendations on which configuration to order. I'm planning to get the upgraded 2GB of memory (more is always better!, and my guess would be that the 2.0 GHz processor with a 120 GB HD + SuperDrive should be a nice ticket - or would you recommend a bigger HD? (I don't do intensive graphics or any gaming, but I want to be able to run OS X and MS Windows simultaneously (with Parallels?).
Also... I currently have 2 G4 Cubes networked to run on a single DSL service using a FriendlyNet Ethernet Hub and 2Wire modem. Any problems simply substituting the Mac Mini for one of the Cubes in this network?
Final question, please: With Leopard plus Parallels on the new Mini, what is the minimum Microsoft package I would need to buy in order to open and work with basic Excel, PPS, and Word documents?
With your comments/recommendations, I'm ready to add my contribution to Apple's gross and net income for the current quarter!!..... Thanks!... CaptDenny

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
The requirements for Leopard are sufficiently low that even an old Mac mini should run it well, let alone one of the new Core 2 Duo models. As such, the 2.0 model with 2Gb RAM should be more than adequate. Leopard's only notably heavier demand is drive space, now requiring close to 10Gb. Clearly the 120Gb drive standard in the 2.0 model would be adequate to that task, plus allow for use of Windows also. As such, a larger internal drive wouldn't really be recommended, though you may wish to consider adding a good sized external, preferably a firewire connected drive, for extra storage and backup.
Where running Windows is concerned, Leopard comes with BootCamp, so you could use that as opposed to Parallels. The downside is that while BootCamp is free, it doesn't permit the running of MacOS and Windows side by side. At boot, you have to select one or the other. If that meets your needs, then it's a better bet in many ways, since it allows the entire system, memory and processor to be dedicated to whichever OS you need at any given time, rather than shared.
On the other hand, if you need or want to run both MacOS and Windows simultaneously, and switch between them, Parallels is the option that would allow that, though both MacOS and Windows will suffer in terms of absolute performance since RAM and CPU are shared between them.
You should have no problem substituting a new mini into your home network using the same setup as you presently have on the soon to be retired Cube.
To run Excel, PowerPoint and Word, you'll need a copy of MS Office. The current version for Mac is still 2004, which is not Intel native. The updated version to closely match MS Office 2007 for Windows will not be out for Mac until 2008. If you buy a copy of MS Office 2004 for Mac however, you'll get an upgrade to the new version when it is released. Upgrading at that point would be advised since while the current version is not Intel native, the new version due is. If you are a student or teacher, you will qualify for the Academic version at around $150, otherwise it's a little expensive $400 list price.

  • XSLT and XQuery recommendation for BPEL and OSB

    Hi,
    1. Why is XQuery recommeded for OSB and XSLT for BPEL. Are there any specific performance optimization reason behind this.
    2. Apart from OSB and BPEL, both XSLT and XQuery has xml transformation options and creating HTML. What is the difference between these two.
    Thanks in advance!

you can create the graphical view of Xquery in Eclipse but not for XSLT
Xquery is much faster than XSLT in OSB.
Through XSLT however you can achieve more complex transformation.
OSB has its historic origins in BEA Aqalogic stable and so Xquery was widely used used even though XSLT is supported. It is a matter of choice(your standards in your organization, your developer skillsets, your re-usable libraries etc )
In Jdeveloper you can develop xslt in graphical mode though and attain complex transformation

  • Deployment / Configuration Scenarios for SOA Suite

Probably this should be posted in the Fusion 11g Middleware thread, but I am looking for information on how an installation of SOA Suite 11g would look like.
I have have the following requirements:
    - A development environment that supports 3 parallel projects.
    - A testing environment that supports integration testing.
    - A production environment.
First I was thinking about a single SOA Suite installation per project & environment (5). But then I thought Domains and Managed Servers - everything can go into a single SOA Suite with seperation on Domains.
Is there anywhere I can get som architecture overview for how a typical SOA Suite is installed in a working environment that supports multiple projects, integration testing and finally production?
    Thanks in advance,
