Hardware (failure?) help with SG200-26
Hi all, I need a small help with my Cisco SG200-26 (not PoE model). After a power failure, at restart the switch seems unable to reboot. The power led starts blinking in green, after some seconds the connected ports start blinking as well, but the the switch reboots automatically after few more seconds.
I tried to disconnect lan cables, power cord, and reset to factory by pressing and holding down the proper button for 30s and more, but no success.
In the small amount of time the switch's ports seem to be powered up, clients don't receive packets, don't ping each other or the switch manage address.
Is it an hw fault? Is it impossible to restore?
Thanks in advice, and excuse for my english.

Hi Andrea, sounds like the flash is corrupt. Unfortunately the switch does not have console access. This means you would need a replacement.
By the way your English is fine, people should excuse their English if you're not understandable

IMAC Fusion Hard Drive failure, help with data recovery
I've got a Late 2012 iMAC 27 Inches 3.4GHZ with a Fusion 3.1TB HDD. My machine has booting issue the past few weeks and when contacted through Apple Care UK, after a few over the phone diagnostics they wanted me to take the machine over to get the Hard Drive checked. I had transferred some of my vital data from another HDD a few days before that and did not have an up to date backup. When booked in they said the HDD will have to be replaced and they will migrate the data over. But when I collected the machine, they said they couldn't transfer data as 'it didn't mount' and therefore unable to transfer. I was gutted as I have 2 wedding on their which were WIP and had to be delivered to the client in a few days. I have got my old HDD from the apple store...but unable to read data..can you help? Guess as a final resort I'd have to obtain the expensive data recovery services.
Ouch...
But before going for an expensive data recovery service, you have some other options.
At first you have to get that harddrive connected to your iMac. There are several solutions to that. One is to buy a SATA USB Docking Bay (see picture). You can put the harddisk in it and connect it via USB to your iMac.
Next you'll need recovery software. Disk Utility will probably not help you, but it is worth the try (because it is free and comes with OSX).
A great piece of software to look at is DiskWarrior. It once helped me accessing a dying External Harddisk and got most of the data off it before it really died. There are more applications, just google 'Data Recovery OSX', and you will find a lot more.
Oh, and make sure to start a good back-up plan for the future. Time Machine is great, or Carbon Copy Cloner, and maybe invest in a decent NAS to copy your data on.
Good luck! -
Help with SG200-26 configuration
I have two SG200-26 switches. One feeds my VOIP devices the other my computers. On both devices I have a number of ports that were not being used but now need to be. These ports show as "Down" I can bring them up by resetting my switches to default and then all the ports being used will work, but ones not being used will turn off again. How can I turn on a previously unused port without a full reset?
Hi Robert Meier,
What is the Firmware you are using? If possible, try download the latest 1.3 series and upgrade to this version.
Remember after successful upload the Firemware, save all your setting to a save place before boot.
And on the Choose Boot Image Page choose the latest version to reboot. (SG Series have two boot image, one for active and one for backup)
Reemeber click the SAVE buttom too if make any change, else the next reboot all unsave setting will lost, and back to unsave states auto.
Hope this hints help for you.
I am a SG300-28 User

I bought the iphone 5 has not been one week do not understand why the home key of the time activities at stops working, not crash or fall. hope its help, probably due to software, not hardware failure, what do I do now?
Restore iPhone with current iTunes on computer. See if better. If still problem, make Genius reservation or set up Service and take or send to Apple for resolution. Of if easier for you, take receipt and iPhone, box and everything and return to where you bought it.

Help with Update failure please
I have Adobe Photoshop CC running on win 7 64 bit. When doing the latest batch of updates one keeps failing with the error message "Adobe CSXS Infrastructure 4 Installation Failed Error Code U44M1P7" Can anyone help with this?
Thanks Eshant
I had since been researching this on the web and it seems it is a very
common fault which has not always been fixed by the full re-install
advocated by Adobe in the link you kindly provided. I therefore decided
to keep trying for a couple of days before resorting to such a drastic
solution.
After several failures to get CSXS Infrastructure 4 to install, both via
the CC Desktop App and from the "Help" menu within Photoshop CC, I had
one more try this morning and this time it seems to have installed
without a hitch. I have no idea why, as I have made no system changes,
but for now I do seem to have solved the problem as my installation of
Photoshop CC is now reporting that it is fully up to date.
Thanks for your response.

Continuing Hardware Failure with Macbook Pro
Before I explain my situation I'd like to mention that I'm very careful with my things and my mac has not sustained liquid or any other damage.
About a month ago my Late 2011 release Macbook Pro experienced some hardware failure, specifically concerning the built-in keyboard, it has been 2 weeks since I received it from repairs and it has now experienced hard drive failure, I went on to erasing the hdd and reinstalling the os, it appears to be working fine but I'm concerned that it may experience more problems in the future.
I bought my Macbook Pro this past November and I feel that it may have been defective as it has experienced these problems in such a short amount of time. Is there any way that apple can replace my Macbook Pro for a new one?No. After 14 days from purchase Apple reserves the right to repair or replace at their option. Thus far you've had a keyboard failure. Your HDD is working and nothing else has happened. You have no evidence to suggest the computer is defective since it has had only one hardware failure. I'd say you are making a mountain out of a molehill.

New iMac extremely slow following migration (Help with Etre Check diagnosis)
Hi gurus,
New iMac - scheduled for genius bar on Friday but trying to avoid the trip. Migrated everything over from 2009 macbook pro to 2011 macbook and now 2013 iMac. I imagine there is a lot of cruft from the repeated migrations and am close to just wiping and migrating from scratch. I don't know, however, how to get my old mail and other critical settings over.
Problem is clearly in the user account. I created a separate admin account and that runs relatively fine. Is the below user account salvageable? Should I delete all my old permissions? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks for the Etrecheck program,
Problem description:
Application hangs and system unresponsive in migrated user account

Oracle DB offline after server reboot / hardware failure
Hi,
We have a server that crashed due to hardware failure and although brought back up OK Oracle DB's are no longer mounting. I am not a DBA but it looks bad to me and it seems there are no backups. Can anyone suggest a course of action? This is Oracle 11G XE running on Centos 6. I have put as much detail in as I can and could really do with some advice.

What is procedure to recover music after ipod hardware failure
My uncle's ipod had a hardware failure and died. Apple genius bar gave him an estimate for repair. But he has not repaired it yet. At that time, his music was still playable within iTunes. Then my uncle's tried to transfer music library to his daughter's PC. I do not know exactly what he did but, itunes produced a file called library.XML containing a list of his music titles along with the file paths to each item. At this point, all his music is not playable on his PC nor his daughers's PC. What was can be done with the Library.xml file? What is the purpose of library.xml. After iTunes generates library.xml, what should be done with it? My uncle wants to recover is music library. What should he do? Please help. Thank you.

Hi,
Just got my new Macbook Pro, and I'm a little lost, I too don't understand how to post a new question even after reading your reply. Can you please help clarify it?
Thanks.
On the main Apple Discussions page, select MacBook Pro under Computing Hardware. There you'll find 12 individual forums each with a name and description, e.g.
Using your MacBook Pro (Late 2008 and 2009)
If your question doesn't fit in other categories.
Choose the forum where the description suits the type of question you want to ask. Just above the list of threads will be a link to *Post New Topic*, click this to proceed.
Use the subject line to give a concise description of your issue rather than something like "Help me!" as there are plenty of users who have experience with specific topics who will scan the subject lines and may ignore anything they don't immediately recognise as an area they can help with.

I have Photoshop CS5 and the problem started about a week ago.
I opened an image, got 3/4s of the way through it, and the computer screen "split into two" and froze. Causing me to shut down my computer, entirely, and lose an hour and half's worth of work. I shut my computer down, completely and did a full system reboot, and tried again. This time I didn't even get a full step into editing before the same thing occured.
Worried, I had contacted Apple Support because I thought it might have been something with the video card. After putting me through various tests, all of which turned up clean, Apple said it was something that showed it wasn't with Mac, it was with CS5 itself (or at least with Adobe's Photoshop application). They told me to try calling Adobe. However, they only have certain hours, so I tried chat support - which was hysterical, becuase they kept sending me over here to the forums. (Apple's support takes much better care of their customers, I've noticed, at least when it comes to full "chat support".) Anyways, I had given this computer a break for a day or two, completely shut off. Today, I turned it on, and the same thing happened. Opened a .Raw image, got it into the Photoshop main screen, got a step into editing, had the computer screen split again, and freeze.
I would greatly appreciate anyone's help with this subject. I have been unable to work for about a week, which is completely devastating to someone who runs their own business. Advice, or thoughts? You say it only happens when you work on raw. Is this only when you’re using the Camera Raw plug-in? If you work on a small JPG in the ACR plug-in, does it happen?
Have you tried turning off the OpenGL acceleration in PS / Preferences / Performance as Mylenium suggested?
I would agree it sounds like a video hardware failure, due to it locking up your computer. Do you have a way to photograph and share what the screen looks like when it is locked up? -
Directory cannot be rebuilt due to Disk hardware failure (-36, 2286 )
Hello everybody,
my macbook was running slower and slower until it became unusable.
I have restarted the macbook with system DVD and run harddisk utilities from the DVD :
- First diagnostic : directory damaged, error on knot, cannot be repaired by this program.
I tried to put the disk in target mode but it was impossible to mount it on the desk.
-Then I tried with DiskWarrior utilities and got the message : Directory cannot be rebuilt due to Disk hardware failure (-36, 2286 )
Does anybody knows what it means ?
If disk has to be changed what brand would be the best suited.
Any advice on this issue will be more than welcome
Best regards from France
Jean Claude*Many thanks* Templeton Peck for your help.
I am going to replace the disk but all the work of the last four days will be lost, kinf of hard to swallow on a machine bought a little more than a year ago !
Sweet home Chicago ! 41 years ago I heard Menphis Slim sing that tune in "Les trois maillets" a famous St. Germain des prés jazz club in Paris. Souvenirs, souvenirs…

7 different faults - is it hardware failure?
I've had my 4S since January 2012. All was well for about a year, and then the fun began.
1) When the weather got colder (Less than five or six degrees), the phone would suddenly claim to have a flat battery, and turned itself off. Plugging in an external battery pack brought it back to life. Taking it back inside a warm building would bring it back to life again.
2) About twice a month, it crashes, and wipes all my contacts/calendar data. I started backing up to iCloud, so then it would restore from there, but muddle my contacts' photos up.
3) It refuses to sync with iTunes. It says there's not enough memory. Sometimes on the phone, sometimes on my PC.
4) At least once a day, it loses the ability to join any mobile network. Turning it off and on again usually allows it to rejoin my network (T Mobile).
5) Instead of T Mobile, it randomly likes to show my operator name as 000-0000.
6) It helpfully closes all my Safari tabs if I minimise Safari and use another app.
7) The GPS is failing, which is a real nuisance because I use Nike+ for my daily jog.
T Mobile's tech help were not very much help as soon as they realised I'd had the phone for over a year, and was therefore no longer covered by their warranty. They reckoned it was a hardware failure. I've purchased Apple Care today, and booked a Genius Bar appointment for Friday. Does anyone have experience of any of these problems? The t-mobile techs are probably right: sounds like a hardware failure. The genuis at Apple should be able to sort this out.

is there any way to send mail alert to sysadmin for any hardware failure? The out-of-the box notifications in SunMC must be set up for every data point on every system, which can be a pain to configure and manage in all but the smallest environments. And as you've noticed, for some hardware attributes there are no "Actions" tabs the allow you to configure email. To gain the features of centralized notification, and to get alarms from all sources of events in SunMC, you should consider installing [PrimeAlert EventAction|http://www.halcyoninc.com/products/EventAction/index.php] . It ships with a 30-day eval license, and if you need any help setting it up, please let me know.
2. does SunMC monitor Sun Fire T2000 hardware fully?Yes, the Tx000 series systems have some of the best hardware support available in SunMC. As an example you can look at a T2000 screenshot and list of hardware info [in this post about SunMC and xVM Ops Center|http://forums.halcyoninc.com/showthread.php?t=109] .
