I initially had vista, but the laptop got dead slow and unresponsive, used to show BSOD (blue screen of death) often, used to restart and got heated beyong measure. So I switched over to win7. However, after the install, i found the following unknown devices  on my computer.
PCI bus 8, device 9, function 3:
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_30CD103C&REV_12
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_30CD103C

PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0852&CC_0880
(Ricoh xD-Picture Card Controller or Ricoh xD-Picture Card Host Controller;0852h xd picture card controller)
unknown device on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
ACPI\HPQ0007
*HPQ0007
(most probably quick launch buttons driver, though not sure)
With win7, my lappy runs smoothly but the problem somehow is not completely over as sometimes the boot fails, esp if I install any new software; maybe missing drivers are causing problems. If any of you happen to know where I could find their respective drives suited (as to my system), please let me know! I looked, but was not quite that confident so i asked. Kindly help.
Thanks

Hi:
Should be no problem to install the Vista drivers for the 1180 devices:
The 1180's are your missing card reader drivers:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-54958-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...=
The ACPI is probably your QLB like you suspected but, you need to run the Windows 7 version of the QLB's.
Try these off a HP 6910p business notebook: I am giving you the link to the oldest version of W7 drivers for them.

Beats audio software missing after I installed windows 8.1
my laptop: HP pavilion p011sv

Hi @Boukou ,
Thank you for your  inquiry.
I understand that after updating to Windows 8.1 you no longer have the Beats Audio software.
You should be able to download an updated audio driver from HP Pavilion 15-p011sv Software & Drivers page .
This should reinstall your Beats software.
Good Luck!

• Power settings missing after clean install of Windows 8.1 on Helix

After a smooth clean installation of Windows 8.1 and loading all the Lenovo drivers, software, and apps, the system runs extremely well except in the Lenovo Settings Metro App, I no longer see the option of battery life protection (to charge only up to 50%). In addition, in the Windows power settings, there are only four power profiles: high performance, balances, power saver, and fly mode.  I do have Lenovo Power Management Driver and Settings Dependency Packages installed.  Lenovo's System Update does not show any missing installations. I wonder if anyone can give me some clues. Thanks.
Solved!

The battery health mode setting was removed.  We don't support this setting anymore.
The preload comes with a couple additional power profiles that we don't make available except in the preload.  However they are not anything special.  You can create your own power profile(s) in the Power control panel to do whatever you want them to do - idle timers, CPU speed, etc.
I accepted the answer as a solution, but I frankly think the battery health mode is very important to have.
My T400s, with both the main and ultra-bay batteries, started with about 6:30 hours of battery life (of course, under my typical work load). 4 years later as today, it still has about 4:30 hours. If I kill some processes and use IE instead of Chrome, I can get 5 hours. I think the long battery lifes have been a consequence of the setting of no start of charging until below 85%.
To replace either battery in Helix, a lot of effort is needed. I think it makes a lot of sense to keep them health.

• Core Audio Components Missing After Clean Install and Update to 10.3.9?

I did a clean install of 10.3.x onto my hard disk and then updated to 10.3.9 through Software Update.
Before this install I'd been running 10.3.9 (my disk crashed -- or so I thought -- hence the re-install of all above). I'd been running a music recording program and taking advantage of Apple's Core Audio AU components (e.g. AUDelay, etc), which should be in /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components/ or something like that. Now they are missing entirely.
How do I get them back? Where are they to find?
Thanks!

It was a problem with the 3rd party software -- I hadn't run the installation update to interface with the AU Components -- after the reinstall. Thanks.

• Messages font is missing after Yosemite install

Hi everyone,
I installed Yosemite and a few days later when using Messages I noticed that a font seems to be missing in the UI window to the right of the person's name.
I don't remember what this line of text is for but it's clearly missing from the main system fonts library and I can only assume this happened after the Yosemite install since everything was fine before this.
Can anyone identify what that typeface was/is ?
here's a screengrab:

For others.
You needs AppleGothic (this is involved in logging in the iMessages account)
Helvetica Neue  - this displays the text in the Chats/Conversations.
Lucida Grande is used when displaying the Buddy Lists for the Group title bars.
This bit that is "wrong" in the pic is the Date item for each chat.
This may be Lucida Grande as well but I cannot disable the Font to check.

• Hard Drive GB missing after Leopard install...

I have searched and do realize that many have experienced this issue... however, after attempting the posted resolutions some have recommended, I'm still at a MAJOR loss... I just can't seem to locate this missing HD space.
In short, I have a new MBP with 100GB of HD space... I have a medium sized iTunes library with a Music library of about 30GB - my Applications folder is only 7.2GB and my desktop is about 2GB.. that is only totaling about 40GB of space... yet my Finder is showing I only have 20GB remaining -
This about a 40GB difference... pls assist here... thx

First of all - your drive is advertised as 100GB - but in truth your Mac sees it as 93GB. (Marketers don't use the 1024 type of number).
Second, Leopard - with no other files - requires 13GB to install. I think this does not include the optional development tools. Tiger only required 3GB (if I recall correctly).
Third, your desktop and your applications folder and your music - don't encompass your entire home folder - it also include your Library too (plus much more).
For an better number - check the size of your entire home folder.
On my system - I have 27GB outside my /Users folder.
Estimating your total as 27GB + 30GB + 9GB = 63GB of 93GB leaving 30
but only a full scan can verify the math.

• IPhoto missing after clean install of 10.6.3

I have an iMac 27" that came with intallation discs.
I had major problems with DVDSP (mostly related to either ProKit 6 or any of the 10.6.x updates)
After a clean install of 10.6.3 (and staying out of ProKit 6) my system now works fine.
I do have the 10.6.3 retail disc, as well as 10.6 retail disc (that does not work as install disc for my iMac).
But - iPhoto is missing. And for the moment I can't get hold of my original install discs for my iMac.
Is there any way of installing iPhoto anyway? I'd like to backup photos and movies on my iPhone.
My iMac identifies itself as an iMac 11,1 with SMC version 1.54f36
Any help is greatly appreciated!

If you don't have the install disk then you're only option is to purchase it. The iLife apps are not pat of the OS so they are not on the 10.6 disks, only on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac.
Purchasing options are an iLife disk or upgrade 10.6 to a point where you can use the App Store.
Is there any way of installing iPhoto anyway? I'd like to backup photos and movies on my iPhone.
You don't need iPhoto for that. Check out Image Capture (in your Applications Folder)

• HDV codec missing after Archive & Install?

I use FC Studio (FCP 5.0.4), QT 7.2
Last Thursday I began importing HDV for a project from a Sony HDR FX-1E (HDV 1080i) with all the capture settings set properly. Capture results were fine.
Yesterday I had to Archive and install Tiger due to some severe font issues which were affecting the performance of the machine.
Today it seems some of QT's HDV codecs have gone missing, even with the software updated and running. I can open the clips in QT and hear sound, but no picture, only white screen. I can't set sequences properly in FCP either. It tells me a codec is missing and it sets the QT compressor automatically to "animation".
Is there any way to solve this? Do I have to reinstall FCP? I am already seeing my monday morning deadline slipping away! If anyone can offer any advice, it would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.

*Do I have to reinstall FCP*
Yes, you do... After an archive & install quicktime is reinstalled in its standard configuration... The HDV codec is ususally installed by FCP...

• Profile missing after "clean" install

I performed at 'Reset' because of unwanted search engines that had appeared and got the message "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible".
I tried to do an update to clear the problem but still I got the same result.
Following advice from the internet, I uninstalled firefox and deleted all files and folder references to the old installation. I ran System Mechanic to clean the Registry, CCleaner to remove any other traces and then looked for 'Firefox' in any file by using Windows explorer. The system was rebooted and another "Clean" install run but I still get the same result.
I am running Windows Vista SP2 on a laptop with an Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5450 @ 1.66GHz
PLEASE help

Hello<!-- XXX you may wish to edit this greeting, and other parts of the response so that it is personalised to the question asked.-->,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from mozilla.org (or choose the download for your operating system and language from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu and click the close button ).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
#*Windows:
#**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
#**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Installing Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.
<b>WARNING:</b> Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. <u>These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!</u> See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles. <!-- Starting in Firefox 31, the Firefox uninstaller no longer lets you remove user profile data.Ref: Bug 432017 and https://support.mozilla.org/kb/uninstall-firefox-from-your-computer/discuss/5279 [Fx31] Windows uninstaller will no longer offer the option to remove personal data -->
Please report back to say if this helped you!
Thank you.

• Address Book Addresses Missing After Leopard Install

I just did an archive install of Leopard and discovered that my contacts in Address Book have been reduced to a short list -- the majority are missing! I have tried to restore from Apple's Backup but am still getting the same short list. I know the addresses existed before I did the install because I recently sent out a mass E-mail to update everyone with a new E-mail and used it for Christmas mailings.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!
UPDATE: After hours of searching this forum and the internet, I found this. I haven't tried it yet (fingers crossed) ... See post at: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5728834

You can open the contents packages of said DVDs and find the settings by hand.
Also, they might be installed somewhere else. Did you look in both your main Library and your User Library Suuport folders?

• No hardware working after I Installed windows 7 on my Macbook pro

Hello,
I recently installed my macbook pro mid 2012 with windows 7 ultimate edition 64-bit and to my surprise I came to know that the drivers in my macbook are not working. No drivers, be it wifi, lan usb, thunderbolt etc are working and I am just stuck with a OS with no features. Also I am not able to switch back to my OS X mavericks. Don't know why?.
It would be great if I can get some help as the local apple store in my country(India) asks for heavy fees. I know I have a mac, how can I afford a mac if I cannot pay fees etc. As it is, I was gifted this laptop by my aunt on my birthday. So yeah, hope you get it.
Please help me, it would be a great deed.
Thank you

Hi Sadtech,
In order to install the Windows drivers for your MacBook Pro hardware, you should follow the steps detailed in this User Guide -
Boot Camp Installation & Setup Guide
http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1636/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_ 10.8.pdf

• Source files missing after wsus install

2 days ago I decided to install WSUS and SUP on our SCCM 2012 server and all was going good until this am when I discovered the folder that I keep all of my software deployment  in under the sourcefiles share was empty. I did take a snapshot
of the server before I started the install and everything seemed to go well, I could see my updates and it was syncing fine. Now if I boot the server normally the folders disappear under \sourcefiles\applications. If I boot to the snapshot they are there but
after a while they disappear as well and the updates show up under software updates without the wsus role installed on the server. I can see the folder right now and I am copying the contents to an external drive. I had setup windows server backup to back
up my whole hyper-v server sccm and sql are on the same box but I could not get backups to open at all, so this snapshot and the one I did when we did the initial install are all that I have. I have the sourcefiles shared out and mapped to my desktop and the
size of the share keeps changing as well.

I'M pretty sure I had WSUS configured right, I have a lab at my house and it is working fine although it is on Sever 2008 and is 3.0 not 4.0. I have made some progress today, I found this blog about SCCM 2012 and WSUS last night which really helped. I removed
WSUS this morning and the updates were still there but if I read the article correctly it says they will remain in sccm for 7 days when they are "tombstoned" so we will see. I am running a scheduled sync right now and it's almost done but I have also created
a folder under software updates and moved all of the files there. During my sync I have been doing a search on that folder for expired "no" and selecting all and moving them back to the root folder.
http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2012/04/12/software-update-content-cleanup-in-system-center-2012-configuration-manager.aspx

• Audio hardware missing after depot repair?

Damnedest thing. Just got my ThinkPad x200s back from Memphis where the main board was swapped out because of a really bad BSOD problem.
Discovered there is no audio, and so I thought I would just uninstall the audio devices via Device Manager, then let the system re-install.  As there doesn't seem to be any audio hardware, it is useless to download drivers.
Anyone had this happen before?

Ok... well that, along with no startup sounds, coupled with no audio device (known or unknown) showing in Device Manager, sure seems to point at hardware.
Since you just got the machine back from a system board replacement at the depot, it makes sense to consider contacting them and having things checked again. Alternatively, if you're comfortable pulling the keyboard and a few other parts, you might take a peek to see if any connectors are loose.
Your hardware manual: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/x200_x200s_x200si_x201_x201i_x201s_hmm_en... will give you an idea of what might be involved in that
