Hardware monitoring chiset & support

I own a MSI 6163 Pro MoBo. The hardware monitoring chipset works just fine under DOS based Windows systems: 98, 98SE or Me.  BUT ... it doesn't under win nt40, 2k or xp..... so why ... and what should I do ???
need some hlp with this one ...

You can't do anything about it. But you can use other hardware monitoring programs. Assaf once recommended me MBM5.

  • GF4 Ti4200-VTP 8x (MS-8889) Hardware monitoring support?

    hi all,
I'm having problems with the 3D turbo experience software and also the problem with the display settings tabs (desk.cpl error message when trying to view the MSI tabs)
so my question does the MS-8889 support the hardware monitoring function? its not on the list posted in the sticky thread.......
what I found for the desk.cpl problem is that if I go to:
Display properties > Settings > Advanced > Adapter > Properties and then try the MSI tab it will show the tab but with incorrect information, fx memory
on the Display properties > Settings > Advanced > Adapter tab memory etc is displayed correctly.

That information is in the first post in the BULLETIN sticky thread at the top of this forum.
Usually it's a good idea to take a look at the sticky posts when coming to a forum.
The Bulletin will change as I add bits of info
That information is NOT in the sticky BULLETIN, and if you would have read my post wich is usually a good idea for a forum moderator before replying and slagging off a forum newbie, you would have seen that I did read the BULLETIN.
as stated in my original post, my card (MS-8889) is not listed in the list of cards in the BULLETIN, does that mean that my card does not exist or doesnt MSI know whether or not it supports hardware monitoring?
rigorous says that he has the same card and that he got the hardware monitoring to work with v2.11 of the SW on a machine running XP, I have tried with XP and v. 2.11 with and without SP1 and also with v. 2.13 but still can not get this to work on my machine, I have also downloaded all updates from MS but still to no avail.
also updated to latest version of IE and the Macromedia flash player still no go.
same thing with latest NVidia drivers 43.45
if rigorous has this working in XP as he says he does and I have no reason to doubt him it would indicate that the hardware does support hardware monitoring so that would indicate that it is a problem with the software, does anyone know what the reqirements of the SW is?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Temperatures are normal, so your MacBook Pro is working correctly. Fans will turn on automatically when temperature is high, so don't worry about that. If you see that fans don't turn on, reply back because it would be a hardware problem

  • LCD display for Hardware Monitor?

    Hardware Monitor...
    http://www.bresink.com/osx/HardwareMonitor.html
...supports certain external, USB-based LCD displays for providing system status. Is anyone using one?
Can anyone recommend a nice, already-assembled unit to set on the desk here? Thanks.
    blakespot

Sadly none of the above unit will work w/ Hardware Monitor.
I just received this email from the author after inquiring about the above displays compatibility w/ Hardware Monitor:
Unfortunately, these vendors are completely unknown in Europe and
they only offer drivers for Windows, so no support for these modules
    is possible so far.
If not, is there a ready-made, external (already in a little
    enclosure) unit that does?
No, I am currently not aware of any ready-made units. Unfortunately
the market for these devices seems to be so small that no worldwide
vendor has established an industry standard yet, or could provide
an open software layer for Mac OS X. When such a solution exists, we
will immediately support it in Hardware Monitor.
For more information about LCD unit support please see the chapter
"Controlling external alphanumeric displays" in the reference manual
    of Hardware Monitor.

I downloaded 1080p content, not sure why this would not work with the hardware I have.

  • Hardware Monitor 3.7 & CPU temp

    FYI,
The newest version on Hardware Monitor (version 3.7 from Marcel Bresnik) now supplies its own CPU temperature monitor extension and no longer relies on SpeedIt, it supports monitoring the CPU temp of both cores. No it doesn't support the throttling capability that SpeedIt was or is supposed to but it at least accesses the real CPU core temp.
As much as I thought SpeedIt would be cool, it just hasn't lived up to its potential and is a development mess. I've been using HM for awhile and love it, had to rely on SpeedIt for CPU temp for awhile, gotta love this new version.
    Cheers,
    Peter

Hey thanks for the heads up Peter. It works beautifully as you say..

  • Who make a good hardware monitor?

    Hey all.
Just a quick post as I am searching for the least resource eating,  highly accurate and trusted hardware monitor.
Ideally i can leave it open in the back ground while i work in Adobe products.
which ones are you all useing?
I would like to see, all available temps, fan speeds, voltages.
doesent have to be anything flashy, just not interfering with resources for the adobe programs, no malware and hopefully accurate in its readings.
the OC forums seem to support CPUID HWmonitor. though they never discuss how much resource it eats or if it has any known conflicts with programs.
    thanks for your advice
    erik

    Erik,
You may also want to consider HWMonitor Pro from the same company. It adds a few features, like gathering trend data for cpu core temperature before, during, and recovered after a render.
It however is a paid version; the HWMonitor program is free.
I also use the MSI Afterburner program to monitor GPU activity. I'm pretty sure that it works for non-MSI nVidia GTX cards even though it comes from MSI and there are other similar utilities I'm sure from the various graphics card manufacturers.
Personally, I use these tools along with CPU-Z and Task Manager to set everything up and then pretty much do without the monitoring, but I'm sure all of these tools could run 24/7 if you would like.
    Regards,
    Jim

  • Hardware Monitor

    Hi all,
I read the sticky at the top of the forum page, and it says my card is supported by "Hardware Monitor". Where can I find this "Hardware Monitor"? Is it a program I can download or is it a piece of expensive material I need to buy?
Much light on the subject would be most helpful.

    AHHH!!!
I just installed MSI turbo experience and it started beeping like crazy! It says that my tempurature is too high but it doesn't say what the actual temperature is in numbers its just blank....
Please don't tell me my card is overheating, with that big ass heatsink/fan on it. BTW I have never O/C this card... I just got it back from an RMA a week ago.
    My system temp is: 22C
    My Cpu temp is: 49C
My G4ti4800Se temp: ??? (it wont tell me, it just beeps)
    Please Help! ?(

  • 990FXA-GD65 Temps-Hardware Monitor or????MSI heatsink super hot???

So I ran threw a post same board and using Hardware Monitor...
Trying to figure out the tmps of hardware monitor--and this is what I got.....
    TMPIN0 is my CPU Temp
    TMPIN1 is my Mosfet
TMPIN2 is my MB or Chipset
Here is my issues---I figured the TMPIN0 is MOSFET temp, But I am not sure if it is....Right now at idle mine is around 57c.....so I decided to feel around in my case...I touch the heatsink that say Millitary class...and it is warm to the touch....I figured this was where the mosfet is....But I also felt the heatsink That says MSI...and boy is that hot...matching the temp of 57c....I know that if I put my pc under stress this will probably climb....So the 57c is coming from there.....I have a Great case-with plenty of cooling...so just wondering--are these suppose to get hot? and how hot is to hot? Do I have a defective board? I have built tons of computers-but this is the first time-I have ever payed any attention to this?
    any help?????
so looking at the hardware monitor thing...
    TMPIN0 is the CPU temp
TMPin1 is the 990FX chip temp
    TMPIN2 is the SB950 temp
My 990FX chip with the MSI label is the hot 58c.....
Update---In performance tab--if I put it on Balanced-meaning C/q will downclock the cpu when not in use-or like speedstep....It runs 48c--But if I tick high performance-running around 3.9ghz average--it hits 58c.....does the board need time for the heatsinks thermal grease to break in? is that what they use underneath? I have ran this pc for about a total of 4-5 hours not counting the 2 hours for installing Windows???
Update again------I did a quick google search....990FX NB temps...and mine is not that far off from what a lot of other people are getting. I guess the FX990 NB chip tends to run warm. They were getting up to 80c on load. This just don't seem right...I have owned computers in the past with NB-getting around 72c...but that was an old amd.. I would like to hear what your NB is or what you guys consider stock temps.
I am sure I am talking about the righ thing-still a newbie here....But the heatsink right below the cpu...it is the only thing in my computer hot to the touch-so I assume this is what is giving me those temps.

    here is the link again...
     http://support.amd.com/us/ChipsetMotherboard_TechDocs/48691.pdf
This has the thermal limits-you guys are talking about....Believe it or not--With the addition of that antec spot cooler...Your temps will drop by half. I really think that this is a design flaw...Or MSI should offer some sort of Cooler or fan that fits this. With all the reading I did on this--MSI is not the only company with issues like this. Every board that has the 990fx...is having the same temp issues...This just runs warm and the only solution---Reapply thermal grease"temp fix" or buy a spot cooler..9$ to 15$ and you never have to worry again...
I think reapplying thermal grease will not help..maybe a few degree's...But it will get warm again...You either need a air cooler--so the heatsinks get air...or add a fan. My spot cooler sits right in front of the heatsinks...
There are many many posts on the fx990....and MSI is not the only board with this issue...I believe I even found a post where a guy was asking for everybodys temps..No matter the board...I seen temps there upwards of 100C....80c is far from the 100c mark this guy had and he was running fine...
    http://www.overclock.net/t/1161772/what-are-your-990fx-northbridge-temps
Hope this helps and feel free to ask me about my temps...I have the PC sitting here and running Great....

  • Hardware Monitor Setup Freeze (K7T266Pro2) [SOLVED]

    1.Product Type: K7T 266 Pro2 (6380 v2)
    2.BIOS version: AMI V3.70
3.External VGA Type: ATI Radeon VE 7000 AGP 128Mo
    4.CPU Type: Athlon XP 1600+
    5.Memory Type: 2*256 Mo DDR PC2100 PQI
    6.Power Supply Type: Heden PSXA870 380W with -5V output
7.Operating System: Win XP Pro Sp2
    8.Problem Description:
When accessing to hardware monitor setup page in BIOS, I get a freeze that I can olny escape by Ctrl Alt Suppr.
I have made an update of Bios to V3.70 because a new module of memory I have bought make problems. This update do not change anything, so I remove this new module and don't use anymore.
But by updating, my CPU clock down to 1050 Mhz instead of 1333Mhz, due to FSB set to 100Mhz.
And impossible to access the page to set the parameter at 133Mhz due to a freeze.
How to solve the problem and get back the right configuration I had before ?
I have read that the problem may come from the power supplies that don't have -5V. I don't know what produce my PS, but how to prevent BIOS to check this -5V ?
EDIT : I have check my PS and it produce -5V.
    Many thanks for your hlep.
    Regards.

    Merry Chrismas everydody.
    Back with happy news :
    - I have flash with v3.7 : flash OK
    - Still getting the problem : hardware monitor page setup freeze, and unable to set FSB to 133Mhz and get the right CPU clock.
    So, my solution :
    - Looking for editing the AMI Bios file.
    - I have load v3.70 Bios file in editor, and only change one parameter : I have set not active the -5V check in hardware monitor module.
    - Save my new bios file (called it v3.71)
    - Then, flash with that edited bios file
    - And manage to access the Hardware Monitor Setup page to set the FSB at 133Mhe. No more freeze.
I don't know how to call this type of solution, but it works well.
For moderators, you can modify the subject by adding [solved] if you want.
    Many thanks for everybody.

  • Hardware monitor error

have any of you experienced spontaneous system shut downs followed by bios reports of 'hardware monitor error' press delete to enter setup etc.  My system has been brought to its knees by this and the good people at samsung have told me that it is probably the vga or the mainboard - which are the g4ti4200td and the a7v333 respectively.  I am stumped, is this possibly an IRQ issue, or a refresh rate issue or what.  The problem is not isolated to high graphic output operations, indicating, I would thing, a memory problem.  It happens seemingly in spite of me, no matter if I am running any programs or not.
any info is much appreciated... thanx ?(

Can I have your specs of your computer you are running on? Thanks...

  • Hardware Monitor on K9N2 SLI Platinum

    Good Day All!
I have a question about the hardware monitor in the bios.
    When I look in there it shows the Icore = 42.112 A; and that I12v = 5.491A.
Could someone please explain these numbers to me?
I think these might explain the problems I have been having.

    Thanks Henry.
I just got permission from the good wife to order the new power supply.
I ordered a Corsair TX750 with the following specs. I hope it will correct my troubles.
I opted for a larger power supply than suggested as the Icore of my system seemed to be higher then the rating of the smaller VX550 watt unit.
    AC INPUT                     90-264V ~ 10A 50/60Hz
    DC OUTPUT         +3.3V       +5V          +12V         -12V         +5Vsb
