Hardware needed for wifi and stay hard wired to Mac
I just got an IMAC and I want to set-up my wireless network. My kids have Ipod Touches and I want to stream music over the stereo instead of them plugging directly into it. The stereo is up stairs and the Mac is down stairs next to the modem. I still want to stay hard wired into the Mac though. To do this do I need Airport Extreme and Airport Express or just get wireless router and Airport express?

Sorry but there is no way to wirelessly stream music from an iPod touch to the stereo.
The AirPort Express (AX) can accept music streaming from iTunes and send it out to a stereo via its sound output port. However iTunes must be running on a computer.
You could use any 802.11b/g compatible wireless router with 2 or more Ethernet ports connected to the modem. Your iMac would connect via Ethernet to that router. Then place an AX next to the stereo and configure it to join the wireless network provided by the wireless router.
This will give you the ability to stream music from iTunes running on your iMac to the stereo.
BTW, there is an iPod touch application which allows you to remotely control the iTunes running on your Mac so that you could change the music from the iPod touch.

Is there a wider need for an industrial spec, hard cased, scratch and bump resistant iPad and iPhone? (ones that are more robust in the outdoors and an engineering environment.) With the acceptance of app based problem solving in industry, the only obstacle to purchasing apple products seems to be their emphasis on providing an asthetic product that looks cool. Industry however, needs something that is harder wearing, splashproof/showerproof, work in the cold and dirt and is fully wipeable. If such an apple product existed I believe they would move units.

I've used laptops/ tablet pcs. All having a very bad problem of sucking in air to cool the computer. The slight acid mist in the air corrodes the contacts in the computer and they last ~ 4 months.
I have moved on to using a ipad currently in a glorified zip lock bag from the internet that has been working for the last year. I haven't dropped it yet so that's great. Most of my applications are done in a virtualized environment where i connect in to using RDP.
It works flawlessly. When the zip lock bag i'm usign gets too scratched up to read easily, I just replace the 10$ bag.
I do want another case. I am waiting on the lifeproof case coming out for the ipad2. Shockproof, dustproof, and waterproof. Much classier than my zip lock bag solution.
Within my plant, there is 4 ipads.
they have fit the bill so far. Only downfall of ipad for our windows enterprise system is the lack of sharepoint browsing natively within the ipad. I can do it with RDP but come on. . . -
HP Pavilion Entertainment PC: WiFi works, however, hard wired connection does not work.
Internet via WiFi works, however, hard wired connection does not work.
My software indicates my hardware is working properly.
However, if I connect another computer to the cable I am using, it connects to the internet without a problem.
And, if I connect my comupter to another cable that works with another computer, my computer still does not connect to the internet.

Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2It could be that the touch pad is broken on the inside and the contact area for the one button is either broken, blocked with an object or the cable going to the mother board is not inserted correctly into the mother board connector. I think in any case the case will have to come off and someone look for physical/connection problems. It doesn't sound like a software problem but there is always a chance.

i have problem with my wifi in 4 S, i cant connect to any wifi itried resetting network setting and reset all setting but the result was the same, its only keeps searching for wifi and cant find any, itried to use OTHER but also didnt work.please help me???
If Join was on then your home wi-fi must be set to Non-Broadcast. If you did not set this up (maybe your provider did) then you will need to find the Network Name they used, and any password they used. The SSID is Security Set ID and to see more try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSID . Basically it is the name used to identify your router/network. A lot of times the installer will leave it set as LinkSys, or Broadcom or whatever the manufacturer set it as for default. Your best bet is to get whoever installed it to walk you through how they set it up, giving you id's and passwords so you can get in. HOWEVER, if you are not comfortable with this (if you set security wrong, etc.) you would be well ahead of the game to hire a local computer tech (networking) to get this working for you. You can also contact the vendor of your router and get help (if it is still in warranty), or at least get copies of the manuals as pdf files. Sorry I can't give you more help, I hope this gives you an idea where to go from here to find more.

My Macbook Pro will be going in for reimaging and my hard drive will be wiped, I want to know if all my iTunes preferences will be copied if I have backed them up on Time Machine. Specifically, if I have set certain "Start Time" and "Stop Time" for my songs, and I copy my iTunes library, will these "Start Time" and "Stop Time" options remain or will I have to manually set them one by one once again? I need a reply ASAP! Thanks so much!
As far as I'm aware the start & stop times are stored in the library database, not the media files. If you backup/restore/transfer the whole library then the settings are included. If you create a complete copy of your iTunes folder on another drive you can connect to that copy by holding down option/alt as you start iTunes so you can check that everything is working properly before you send the Macbook away.

Lenovo g570 network adaptor not found (for wifi and blue tooth)
my lenovo g570 laptop does not found network adaptor for wifi and blue tooth it did not recognize the hardware part may be. because i install software for that so may time. few days back i used wifi as well as bluetooth in my lapi but for last two or three month i just used lan for internet connection and in between i chanded my os wihich is win 7 ultimate to win 7 proff. i dont know what is the reason for that.
please troubleshoot this so that my lapi can detact network adaptors for wifi and blue thooth.

So you started downloading it and it won't finish? Hold the home (circle) and lock (top of phone) buttons at the same time untill a power off slider comes up. Turn off your phone and when you turn it back on it will ask you for your password to restart the download. Click cancel and it should cancel the download.

You'll need to erase the drive by booting up holding command-option-r keys into your Recovery Volume.
Use Disk Utility to erase the disk and then Internet Recovery. That will take a while.

You will continue to hear different opinions here, where thoughts range everywhere between "anti-virus software is the evil spawn of Satan" to "anyone not running anti-virus software is a fool."
Truth is, this is still a very personal decision on a Mac. Depending on circumstances, it is still very easily possible to stay safe without using anti-virus software, but circumstances and personal preferences vary widely. Besides which, anti-virus software cannot even remotely provide you a guarantee of protection!

OK. Now, you say you got this alert through App Store when trying to download Mavericks or after you downloaded it and were trying to install it? Which is the correct case?
The error you are getting may sometimes occur when the computer has already been updated, but I don't know why you would be getting this message. I can only suggest that you take it in for service to find out why this is happening.
