Hardware not Supporting Premiere Pro  CS5.5 (and after effects)

Hardware: 1st generation Macbook Pro 2.0Ghz Intel Core Duo processor, 2g (maximum ) ram, 500gb hybrid SSD/7200 hard drive. Mac OS leaopard 6.6
I bought the master collection recently which includes premiere and after effects CS5.5. Pre sales I was advised by adobe that ALL macbook pros will run all these products (by an adobe customer services Advisor)
I can't load them because (as I have now learnt) that the core duo processor only supports 32 bit- I phoned technical support, many times since 15th July and was repeatedly told that ALL macbook pros can run them, it was just a case of changing my OS to 64 bit. Apple are clear that this is not the case.
Eventually I was referred to a tier 2 advisor, who asked me which processor type, and finally said it is clear that I need earlier versions to run on this and I would be contacted by email to provide a earlier 32 bit version of these 2 programs (as is supplied to windows 32 bit users). This was 2 weeks ago and I have had no response, I have phoned several times and some advisors try to start the whole process again and insisting that I should be able to install these.
Today an advisor has told me that they have checked the notes and the tier 2 advisor has advised I "need to upgrade my hardware" (ie buy a new mac !!!)
No-one will give me any phone numbers of a tier 2 advisor to discuss this or complain about it. Nor an email address.
First i want to request that adobe, having misled me, should give me earlier copies. Especially as this has already been agreed. Secondly I want to complain about the huge amount of time wasted and how I have been fobbed off.
Apologies if this is not the exact forum space for it but I cannot find the issue on FAQ so I would be very grateful if anyone can put me in touch with the right person, or if any of the moderators would know.

  • How to work with Premiere Pro cs5.5 and After Effects cs5 together?

I have edited my movie in premiere pro cs5.5 and made the rough cut. In premiere, i have edited the video, put in soundtrack and foley. Now, i need to add muzzle flashes & blood splatters in some scenes and final color correction using After Effects cs5.
When i import the premiere project in AE and make the changes, and then i export it back as premiere project. When i open this prmiere project, it shows vaious kind of errors and no changes are retained that i did in AE. Also, when i import the premiere project (which has 4 different sequences) in AE, all the media that has been imported in the premiere project also opens in AE making it difficult to organize the media.
How should i work now so that i add vfx and color correction using AE cs5?
I thought of exporting the video from Premiere pro and then open the video in AE and add vfx to some scenes and color correction to the full video and render it out again. But, this is the first time i am using AE and i am not sure if this is the best way. PLEASE HELP.
Or, i could import the whole project in AE, add vfx, do color correction AND then export to video from AE. But i think, it will be better if i export the video from Premiere as it has loads of options to choose from while exporting to a movie.
The dynamic link does not work between Premiere Pro Cs5.5 and After Effects cs5. Even if it does, its not working on my pc.
All the footage is in HD and i want the final result in best quality HD too. PLEASE Help!

If you are working between After Effects and Premiere Pro but with versions that are not the same number, you need to just work with movies rendered and exported as intermediate, lossless files.
Dynamic Link only works between After Effects and Premiere Pro of the same version number, and only when they are installed as part of the same suite.

  • Why is Dynamic Link between Premiere Pro CC 2014 and After Effects CC 2014 not syncing audio changes?

When I try to use a Dyamic Link between something I've cut in Premiere and a composition in After Effects, if it is simply an audio level change it will not update in AE.  Only if I alter the Video track does it then take the changes reflected.  Any suggestions as to what is causing this?
Running Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 and After Effects CC 2014.

As Dave alludes, AfterEffects is all about the visual changes ... or at least, mostly. For changes to the audio outside of PrPro's internal controls, highly suggested you use Audition instead. It is all about the sound ... and yes, will update PrPro when used correctly.

  • Dynamic Linking between Premiere pro cs6 CC and After Effects is shaded grey and not working.

Hi, I currently have a CC membership with everything included in the package. I have already downloaded Premiere Pro CS6 and After Effects. However, I cannot figure out why , when I right click a video clip in Premiere, the dropdown menu has the 'replace with after effects' option within the list greyed out, apparently not an option for me. I've browsed several tutorials and all of them illustrate using dynamic linking with ease as a readily available option. Can anyone help with this please?

    Thank You, Jim -
Unfortunately that specifically did not work.
Based on another comment sent to me, here is what did.
    In PProCC
File > Adobe Dynamic Link > New After Effects Composition
    In AECC
From that composition created from PPro, I imported the project (aep) initially created in AECC from another team member. Saved the file.
    Back in PProCC
File > Adobe Dynamic Link > Import After Effects Composition
    Magic.

  • Importing into Trial of Premiere Pro 5.5 and After Effects 5.5

My board of management have asked that I evaluate Premiere Pro 5.5 as a replacement for Premiere Elements 9, which we find not quite sufficient for our needs.
According to the documentation, with trial version 5.5 we should be able to import MPEG-2, .mov, .mts, .mts2 etc. which were not available in the trial of version 5. When I try to import these formats, the message, 'There was an error decompressing audio or video', or the message, 'this format is not supported' appears. I have no issue importing into Premiere Elements 9.
Should I be able to import these formats into the trial version of 5.5, it is making it impossible to fully evaluate the products without this capability
    Intel i7 930, 8Gb ram, Radeon HD 5770 1Gb, 2TB HDD

    >MPEG-2 files, the video was taken with a Cannon MiniDv
That should not be... when you do a Firewire transfer from minidv camera you SHOULD end up with DV AVI (or, in Mac land, an SD MOV file)
If you are getting mpeg2 from a firewire transfer... something is wrong

  • Premiere Pro CS5 crashing and not allowing updates

    Hello,
I'm experiencing two problems with ProCS5.
First, while in pro, the program crashes when I click on a video clip in the Lib to view it in the monitor.
Second, I tried to update to the program hoping to correct the first issue, but the update returns the error "installation unsuccessful" for unknown reasons.
    I am running:
      Model Name: Mac Pro
      Model Identifier: MacPro1,1
      Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Xeon
      Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz
      Number Of Processors: 2
      Total Number Of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
      Memory: 7 GB
      Bus Speed: 1.33 GHz
I just installed a 1.5T hard drive for video editing and formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
I can view the videos directly from the hard drive and the play back is fine.  I'm only having this problem in Premiere Pro CS5.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

  • Premiere Pro CS5.5 and H.264/AVC video import issues

    Hello!
I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and using Premiere Pro CS5.5.
I record HD videos using a Canon EOS 7D in .mov format. I don't have any issues importing these files to Premiere, but I do have problems with the convered equivalents. I'm currently using AVS Video Converter 7 to convert the original files to .AVI files.
The main difference between the two versions (original and converted) is the bitrate and audio codec, but Premiere only imports audio when I drag the .avi file to it. What strikes me dumb is that a poor editor like Camtasia Studio has no problems reading the files (both the audio and video track), but Premiere does.
I also have the MainConcept Codec Suite, but that doesn't help.
Can someone please give me a better solution than telling me to convert the converted videos back to a format supported by Premiere? I would prefere jugling with codecs and make it work rather than spending time converting videos back and forth.
Intel Core i7 920, 12GB RAM, nVidia GeForce GTX 295.
    Thank you!

    @Jim Simon
I have 7D footage on my hard dive right now.  4.5 minutes takes up
about 660MB.  Which is right in line with AVCHD running at 12 to 13 GB
    per hour.
I don't know what kind of footage you got, but I download recordings from it daily and I think that entitles me to say I know better. Maybe what you've got isn't original 7D HD footage.
As for the solution...what I'm saying is that the "best
practice" IS the solution.  You're creating a problem by not following
the best practice.  If you follow that best practice, you will stop
    creating the problem.
I already have problems. To be more specific, I'm not looking for future advice, but for ways of solving the problems I currently have. Telling me what to do from now on won't help me import and use in Premiere the already compressed files.
    @banzemanga
Well, nothing will be resolved by complaining about it.
What you should be doing is to request this feature.
I'm not complaining as much as I'm saying Premiere is really PRO.
However, i am curious why MainConcept Codec Suite can't import your file.
Have you tried using a different video container differnt than *.avi?
Yes, I have tried a dozen, but to no avail.
    @shooternz
Most people using Premiere want to maintain high quality...not throw it away by using converters.
I'm using native files too, it's just that I don't keep them that way for years.
Editing native is seen by most to be a huge PLUS!
    Yes, I would say CPU-wise.
Later in the evening I have found what seems to be the best solution to my issue.
AVS Video ReMaker and MainConcept can do wonders together when it comes to importing compressed files to Premiere PRO. AVS Video ReMaker's MP4 export almost instantly converts files with no quality loss and very close to the source file's size, and these MP4 files are recognized as native clips in Premiere (with stereo audio track and clean responsive video) thanks to MainConcept. It is excellent! The only downside is that the CPU gets more stressed (about 20-30% more of a Core i7 920), but the compressed video runs smooth (HD@50fps), needs no rendering and takes the same ammount of space as the source compressed file.

  • Premiere Pro CS5 Playback and Performance Issues

I upgraded (2) separate editing work stations to CS5 from CS4 about a month ago. I moved from 4 to 5 to try and get rid of some problems which both work stations were encountering.
The problems since the upgrade are similiar: playback from timeline has intermittent audio drop out and video going to black during playback, (new one)-video locked up but audio kept playing-system hung and had to be rebooted.
Also, when clicking around on the timeline or scrubbing the timeline, Premiere crashes.
This type of performance on playout or timeline usage is consistent on both machines which have indentical setups and builds. None of this happens all the time but happens enough to causes problems with workflow. We edit on the work stations, dub files to playback system for air, and use a shared server to move files back and forth as needed but files are always stored locally instead of using straight from server.
    These machines are:
    Premiere Pro CS5.02
OS  WIndows 7 Pro 64 bit
    12 GB Ram, DDR3-1333 (6-2GB modules)
CPU Intel Xeon Quad Core [email protected] GHZ, 2 processors, 8 MB Cache
500 GB SATA 2 hard drive, 7200 RPM, 32 MC (System Drive)...309 GB of space avail
    (3) 1 TB SATA 2 hard drives, 7200RPM, 32 MC (3 TB, RAID0 STorage) 2.16 TB of space avail
Nvidia GE Force 9800 GT Graphics card, DUAL DVI, 1 GB
REaltek High Def Audio, Drivers 6.0.1.5953
    (1) monitor in use
output of system runs to ADVC-700 breakout box to feed playback system
I have all of my software installed on C: (309 GB of 500 GB avail)
I have all of my videos files stored on D: (Raid Storage with 2.16 TB of 3 TB avail)
The only changes I've made since installing CS5 would be to change the auto save from 20 minutes to 60 minutes. Don't know if an auto save would cause an issue on playback as I've noted above.
I'm not a computer whiz by any stretch of the imagination but I can follow directions if given for testing/eval.

Do the PPBM5 Benchmark and send the results to me by PM, in addition to sending the results to Bill as indicated. I'll have a look at what might be going on here.

  • Hardware requirements for Premiere Pro CS5 .versus Premiere Elements 9 ?

    Hi
I have just started to work in Premiere Elements 9. What should it take to go up one "level" and start using Pro version (CS5) from a hardware performance point of view ?
Below are my overview specification for the machine I'm using. Will it take more power into consideration ?
    Processor :  Intel Core i7 930, 2,8 Ghz - 4 kernels, 8 logical processors
    RAM memory : 6 GB
64 bit operating system Windows 7
    HD Drive1 : Intel SSD Sa2M080 G2Gc ATA Device - 80GB

Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce Gt240 (1 GB RAM for video card)

    CS5 is at http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere/premierepro_current
What KIND of files are you going to edit?
Your system should do OK for DV and HDV but "might" struggle a bit with something like AVCHD due to only 6 gig of ram (I know, saying "only" 6 gig sounds odd, but if you go to the Premiere Pro CS5 Benchmark http://ppbm5.com/ page and review results, you will see that some people have 24 gig)
As far as C drive size, I have Win7 64bit Pro and MS Office full install and CS5 Master Collection and some odds'n'ends, and I only use 50 gig of drive space, with as much as possible in the way of "work" files set to my 2 other drives
My CS5/AVCHD 1st Impressions http://forums.adobe.com/thread/652694?tstart=0 includes a link to the computer I built
My 3 hard drives are configured as...

2 - 320G WD Win7 swap file and PPro projects
3 - 1T WD all video files... read and write

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 crashes after using "File"-Menu

    Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5
    Hello,
As of yesterday, can the "File" menu no longer operate. Other submenus can not be done. The program crashes after.
I have been three times the program is uninstalled and reinstalled. No improvement.
Yesterday I drove down the PC and there were 21 Windows updates, are there perhaps relationships?
    Who can help me?
    Gerd

    Update! - FIX...
Spent about 5 hours working with a 2nd level Adobe Support tech and we were able to track down the error. You’re not going to believe this.
Adobe Premiere was the only application affected by the bug. AF, Encore, Audition were all able to open a WAV file with no problem. Premiere would lock up (Not Responding) as soon as you tried to open a WAV file.
Come to find out it was not an Adobe problem after all. I installed the Smart Sound plugins in June/July of this year and that plugin was the issue. Once it was removed I could import Wav files again.
Smart Sound has upgraded the plugin and the new plugin works just fine.
My thanks to the Adobe tech who stayed with the problem until it was resolved. And I suggested to the SmartSound tech that they find a better way to notify users when they find a bug of this magnitude. But you might guess how well that was revived.

  • Problem with Matrox Mini, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570, Premiere 5.5.2 and After Effects CS5.5

    Hello,
We have a couple video workstation PC's in our office.
Premiere and After Effects have been crashing lately with increasing frequency - about every two minutes now.
    Here is the setup:
    Hardware
Matrox Mini - Matrox Utility release 5.5.1
Nvidia GeForce GTX 570 - Driver release 275.33
Intel Xeon X5660 2.8 GHz processors
    24 GB Ram
    Software
    Adobe CS5.5, specifically...
    After Effects 10.5.0.253
    Premiere 5.5.2
    Windows 7 64-bit
We have two 21" LCD monitors in dual display running from the computer, and the Matrox Mini outputs a preview signal to a 15" CRT.
The crashes occur when I have After Effects and Premiere open at the same time. I am editing in a Matrox 720p29.97 timeline in Premiere. I imported several compositions from AE into Premiere through Dynamic Link and am matching audio with the animations in comps. When I switch back to AE to make an edit in the comp, After Effects generates a crash warning and then gives me the opportunity to save the project under a new name. After saving, it closes down completely. The Matrox WYSIWYG Control Panel in the system tray crashes during AE's crash, disabling the preview to the CRT from Premiere and AE. Since the Premiere sequence is a Matrox preset - in order to have output to the CRT - this freezes the timeline; the video and audio no longer play. When I save and then try to close Premiere, Premiere freezes and will not close without a force quit via the Task Manager.
In order to deal with this temporarily, I am editing in an AVCHD 720p30 sequence preset in Premiere, which doesn't send a preview feed to the CRT, obviously, since it's not a Matrox preset and the CRT is connected via the Matrox Mini. It's more than a minor inconvenience, since I use the CRT for color accuracy.
It is frustrating, since we did not have this problem until the recent CS5.5.2 update. We have tried changing drivers for the GTX 570 and changing the Matrox utility software to other versions, but no luck.
Is there a combination of GTX 570 drivers, Matrox software releases, and AE/Premiere settings that will make this work? I know there are "Known Issue" posts with Nvidia cards on Matrox's website, which include the GTX 570, but, again, this problem started with the Adobe CS5.5.2 update.
Any help here would be great, and I am willing to provide more information about the system and our crashes if it helps find a solution for the community, as I know this is not an isolated problem after reading Nvidia's, Matrox's, and Adobe's forums. I just can't find a hollistic solution on any of the individual manufacturer's forums.
    Thank You.
    Jordan

I've been running with Matrox for years, starting with the Axio LE. I do 75% broadcast work and find that the Matrox works very well with my kind of workflow. Monitoring is critical and since we have to deal with 3rd. party solutions, Matrox was my pick dating way back to 2006. Sure I've had frustrations with it, but I've made far more money off Matrox than frustration.
       Here's my nearly crash-free setup:
    Gigabyte GZ-X58A-OC moboard
Intel 990X (only overclocking to 4.0)
    24Gb of Kingston HyperX Ram
    GTX580 Graphics Card
    Matrox MXO2-LE w/Max
Crucial 240Gb Sata III drive (the one that has a nearly perfect score on Newegg's site)
    2 x 2Tb WD Blacks Raid 0
    2 x 1Tb WD Blacks Raid 0
Win 7 Ultimatte (it's a high-end version of Windows that's great for keying!)
    CS5.5 Suite
    Boris Red 5
    Boris Continuum Complete 8
Trapcode Shine, Form, 3d Stroke, Starglow, and Particular
    Optical Flares by Video CoPilot
The reason I list all of that software, is that it all seems to get along together, including with Matrox! So, I can't say I highly endorse Matrox because I've never tried Black Magic or running an external monitor off of my video card.
I use After Effects with all sorts of plug ins and rarely have crashes. If I put in a long day I'll have the usual crashes here and there (mainly with PremierePro), but nothing that has required evan a soft reboot of the computer.
My frustration with Matrox is mainly the delay that often comes with Adobe coming out with a new release and Matrox taking 2 or 3 months to catch up, though when Adobe went from 5 to 5.5, there was no delay at all.
I think that a lot of the people who trash Matrox probably haven't used a Matrox product in years. But before you listen to me, I must confess that I was an early adopter (and advocate) of SSDs and even today, many people on this forum think they're still a waste of money!
I'll close by simply saying that I've not left Matrox after 5+ years, but keep in mind I haven't had the bad experiences that so many others seem to have had, but again, perhaps they had those bad experiences long ago.
