Hardware OpenGL support in parallels

Hello everybody.
I am operating a 3D graphic intensive application, which requires hardware accelerated OpenGL.
It seems that this feature does not function under Parallels, though the card is supported in native Windows 7 (through bootcamp).
I am using macbook pro 7.1 (spring 2010), with video card Nvidia Geforce 320M
Any ideas what parallels video driver (if any) should be used?
Thanks all,
Y.

  • How to enable hardware virtualisation support?

Today I upgraded to mac os x lion and when I open parallels desktop it asks me to enable hardware virtualisation support on my MacBook pro so that I can run windows xp as a virtual machine. I have searched the net and cannot find a way to access the bios to enable this feature, please could I have some support and advise on how to enable the VT. I did have any problems whilst I was on os x snow leopard and parallels used to work fine.
    Thanks in advance.

Boot camp  is the way to go then you will be able to turn it on. Run boot camp install windows xp and you be able to get into the bios
Here's some other help full info as well
VMware Fusion 3.1.3 was designed for OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) but is compatible with Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), with the reservations listed below. If you are running an older versions of VMware Fusion, upgrade to VMware Fusion 3.1.3 before upgrading to Lion. Fusion 2.x is incompatible with Lion.  For the best experience, reinstall Fusion after upgrading to Lion.  When running Fusion on Lion, these limitations are known to exist:
The Migration Assistant, included with VMware Fusion, is not compatible with Mac OS X Lion. This is due to a change in file sharing components.
VMware recommends that a Snow Leopard-based Mac be used to migrate an existing PC. The resulting virtual machine can then be used in Fusion running on Lion.
Boot Camp partitions are not accessible through Fusion after upgrading to Lion.
To work around this issue, delete the Boot Camp virtual machine from the library and recreate it.  For more information, see A Boot Camp virtual machine fails to power on with a disk error (1003483).
Minor visual issues have been reported when using Mission Control with Unity mode.
Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) Client and Server cannot be run as guests, at this time.
VMware can provide best effort support if you choose to upgrade to Lion, but we cannot guarantee a resolution for all issues.

  • Photoshop CS5 OpenGL support with latest Intel integrated graphics?

Intel's latest "Sandy Bridge" CPUs (Core i5 2500, Core i7 2600, etc.) included much-improved integrated GPUs, thus allowing for systems that do not require a discrete graphics card.  Although not suitable for high-end gaming, the specs appear to be more than enough for Photoshop CS5's GPU acceleration needs.  Can anyone confirm or deny that CS5 will be able to take advantage of the new Intel HD 2000 and HD 3000 graphics?  The driver specs say it supports OpenGL 3.0 and Shader Model 4.0, both of which satisfy the minimum requirements of OpenGL 2.1 and Shader Model 3.0 for Photoshop CS5.
I'm 99% sure the latest hardware is supported, as Adobe's own document mentions "Intel HD Graphics", just not the specific model numbers.  The document was also last updated in November 2010, before the current series of CPUs were released to the public.

Surely those won't stress an OpenGL implementation that is aimed to work in scientific visualization apps, model rendering, 3D games, and so on?
Having implemented my own OpenGL applications over the past several years, I can tell you that it's absolutely not that simple.  The word "surely" cannot be applied here.
Photoshop, in displaying 2D things with a 3D system, is NO DOUBT using OpenGL differently than any other application has ever used OpenGL.  It's the nature of the beast.  What they put in which type of buffers at what time in which mode using what calls in which order and using what performance features are all open choices.  The software itself makes choices at run time about what parts to use based on OpenGL version and advertised capabilities.  Plus they're using Shaders (on-GPU programming), and there are a bunch of different ways to get that done as well.
In order for a system to run perfectly, the applications and video driver / GPU subsystem have to get things exactly right all the time every time, and not just for Photoshop but for all the other apps (and Aero) as well.  Though Intel and the others may do plenty of testing, what might work on a test bench might not work when combined dynamically with other things in ways that only happen on an end-user system.  Note the number of video game bugs fixed in each driver release.
However complex you think OpenGL is, multiply that by 100 or more and you may be getting into the ballpark.

  • Java Proxy Generation not working - Support for Parallel Processing

    Hi Everyone,
As per SAP Note 1230721 - Java Proxy Generation - Support for Parallel Processing, when we generate a java proxy from an interface we are supposed to get 2 archives (one for serial processing and another suffixed with "PARALLEL" for parallel processing of jaav proxies in JPR).
    https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1230721
We are on the correct patch level as per the Note, however when we generate java proxy from the IR for an outbound interface, it genrates only 1 zip archive (whose name we ourselves provide in the craete new archive section). This does not enable the parallel processsing of the messages in JPR.
Could you please help me in this issue, and guide as to how archives can be generated for parallel processing.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Rosie Sasidharan.

    Hi,
Thanks a lot for your reply, Prateek.
I have already checked SAP Note 1142580 - "Java Proxy is not processing messages in parallel" where they ask to modify the ejb-jar.xml. However, on performing the change in ejb-jar.xml and while building the EAR, I get the following error:
Error! The state of the source cache is INCONSISTENT for at least one of the request DCs. The build might produce incorrect results.
Then, on going through the SAP Note 1142580 again, I realised that the SAP Note 1230721 also should be looked onto which will be needed for generating the Java proxy from Message Interfaces in IR for parallel processing.
Kindly help me if any of you have worked on such a scenario.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Rosie Sasidharan.

    Hi,
Catalyst 3750-E switches running Cisco IOS Release 12.2(35)SE2 are compatible with Catalyst*3750 switches and Cisco EtherSwitch service modules running Cisco IOS Release*12.2(35)SE. Catalyst 3750-E switches, Catalyst 3750 switches, and Cisco EtherSwitch service modules can be in the same switch stack. In this switch stack, we recommend that the Catalyst*3750-E switch be the stack master.

  • OpenGL support not working

OpenGL support does not seem to be working on PhotoshopCC.  The HUD color picker does not appear and when I try to rotate the canvas, a message pops up that says the rewuest could not be completed because it only works with OpenGL enabled windows.
I have two NVIDIA Quadro K600 cards (with up to date drivers), a Cintiq monitor and a new Dell workstation.  I'm using the trial version of Photoshop CC.  (I had to replace my computer recently because the old one died, and rather than reinstalling CS4 I decided to try CC and see how I liked it)
My machine is a powerful graphics computer, so it ought to be able to handle OpenGL.  Under Preferences/Performance I do have "Use Graphics Processor" checked, but it does not help.

  • I've lost OpenGL support with KVM switch. Help!

I have a Win7 64 machine and an XP machine at work. I installed an Iomega KVM switch to use the same monitor/keyboard/mouse with both computers. Problem is, once I installed the KVM, Photoshop can't detect my video card, so I lose OpenGL support. Very irritating. Anyone had this problem and/or know of a solution? Thanks!

Did you reboot Windows after plugging the monitor into the computer?
On another note, it's possible a recent video driver update changed the behavior.  Photoshop queries the OpenGL system for its capabilities, and if something's gotten broken Photoshop might not allow the OpenGL operations.  What video card do you have?
There is a workaround you can try - a registry tweak - that will instruct Photoshop to use OpenGL calls anyway:
    Go to this site:  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4056
Download the file and extract AllowOldGPUS_ON.reg.  You don't say which version of Photoshop you're using, but if it's CS4 the file is good to use as is.  If CS5 then you'll need to edit the file with a text editor to change 11.0 to 12.0.  Make sure you're an Administrator and double click the file to enter it into your registry.

  • Is the iPhone  hardware could support the distance measure?

Is the iphone hardware could support the distance measure?

No, an iPhone 6 purchased in the US will not work on 4G in the UK - it is not designed to.
Why on earth are you considering purchasing an iPhone in the US to use in the UK?  Basically, it is a completely instance idea to do this - if you live in the UK and are going to be using the phone in the UK on the 3 network, then buy it in the UK.
If you buy the phone in the UK, then you get 4G coverage and also EU warranty cover should anything go wrong with the phone.
If you buy the phone in the US, you will not get 4G on the phone and you will have no warranty cover for the phone either, as iPhone warranty is NOT international, so it means that you will have to fly back to the US should anything go wrong with the phone.
You also will not save as much money as you think you will.  There are local taxes as well as other taxes to pay on US phones and when you come back to the UK you may have to pay import duty and VAT on the phone too, so all money you thought you saved will probably work out at the same price, so you won't really have a phone that you can use fully - no 4G and no warranty cover.

  • MOVED: Neton AP1900 linux hardware (webcam) support

This topic has been moved to Linux/Unix.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=129071.0

Would the Wiki be a good home for hardware howtos?
That's where, for example, I learned how to get my simple USB keydrive up and running. As simple as it was to initialize in the end, I certainly didn't know the two or three required modules starting out.
Since I don't know how much insight an Arch maintainer has into the world of hardware they support I don't know how empowered they will be to come up with a "comprehensive" list or document. Maybe it's easier than I think...I'll leave it to someone more knowledgeable than myself to answer that.
Please add your experiences to the Wiki though as a Howto...I have a webcam sitting around here somewhere that would be fun to use...
In terms of autoconfiguring, I'm torn. Although I don't like the stress of spending days Googling and the like for tidbits of info to get a configuration right, I also don't like the mystery behind automated tools that sometimes do and sometimes don't work.
Hmmm...it didn't work...why? What did the automated tool do? Which files did it modify? Where are they? Everytime I migrate to a distro that configures stuff for me, I always find myself leaving sometime later to go back to a distro that doesn't. Bah...
Someday in the future when those tools do work 99% of the time, you can bet I'll take advantage though!
    Good luck!

  • GF4 Ti4200-VTP 8x (MS-8889) Hardware monitoring support?

    hi all,
I'm having problems with the 3D turbo experience software and also the problem with the display settings tabs (desk.cpl error message when trying to view the MSI tabs)
so my question does the MS-8889 support the hardware monitoring function? its not on the list posted in the sticky thread.......
what I found for the desk.cpl problem is that if I go to:
Display properties > Settings > Advanced > Adapter > Properties and then try the MSI tab it will show the tab but with incorrect information, fx memory
on the Display properties > Settings > Advanced > Adapter tab memory etc is displayed correctly.

That information is in the first post in the BULLETIN sticky thread at the top of this forum.
Usually it's a good idea to take a look at the sticky posts when coming to a forum.
The Bulletin will change as I add bits of info
That information is NOT in the sticky BULLETIN, and if you would have read my post wich is usually a good idea for a forum moderator before replying and slagging off a forum newbie, you would have seen that I did read the BULLETIN.
as stated in my original post, my card (MS-8889) is not listed in the list of cards in the BULLETIN, does that mean that my card does not exist or doesnt MSI know whether or not it supports hardware monitoring?
rigorous says that he has the same card and that he got the hardware monitoring to work with v2.11 of the SW on a machine running XP, I have tried with XP and v. 2.11 with and without SP1 and also with v. 2.13 but still can not get this to work on my machine, I have also downloaded all updates from MS but still to no avail.
also updated to latest version of IE and the Macromedia flash player still no go.
same thing with latest NVidia drivers 43.45
if rigorous has this working in XP as he says he does and I have no reason to doubt him it would indicate that the hardware does support hardware monitoring so that would indicate that it is a problem with the software, does anyone know what the reqirements of the SW is?

  • Java SE Embedded hardware interface support

What are the available options for integrating with hardware interfaces with Java SE Embedded?
    - I've noticed that the Java Comms API doesn't seem to have any recent activity, and is only provided for a small number of os+hw combinations.
    - A number of community posts elsewhere recommend RXTX (http://rxtx.qbang.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page) - it looks like this is limited to just serial or parallel ports though - is this correct? Is this widely used?
    - I've noticed libraries like Pi4J (http://pi4j.com/) provide a great Java API to interact with the GPIO pins on the Raspberry Pi. This is a great approach if there is a library like this for the hardware platform you are running on, but if there isn't what are the alternatives? Do you have to write your own C shared libraries to integrate with the hardware, and then use this via JNI?
    Thanks, Kevin

See Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 1 adds support for Java SE 6. Note the system requirements exclude PPC machines.
Apple does not drop software support, however, they stop updating older versions because the requirements of new software exceed what older hardware can provide. This is simply the result of obsolescence. Your version of OS X is capable of supporting Java SE 6, but your hardware is not able to run that software.
If it's essential that you be able to run new versions of software that have requirements that exceed what you hardware or OS can support, then you have to upgrade accordingly. Sell your PPC machine or donate it to a reputable charity or local school/church. Then buy a new machine that can run the software you wish to use.

  • T400 - Integrated Intel Chipset - OpenGL support

We've had some new T400's delivered with just the integrated intel graphics.
Trying to install a Video client (Tandberg MOVI), I get an error that the system only supports OpenGL 1.1, whereas the client needs 1.2.  I've updated to the latest drivers - but still get the same error.
I've contacted Intel who told me to contact Lenovo - so thought I'd post on here.
I am running Windows 7 x64, any new drivers that anyone's aware of?  or a way to force the system to think it supports 1.2?
    Thanks.

    The Intel site states:
The integrated graphics controller of the Intel® G45/G43/G41/Q43/Q45 Express Chipsets and Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family supports hardware acceleration for OpenGL* applications in 16-bit and 32-bit color depths. The latest Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator drivers provide support for the OpenGL version 2.0.
However when I run my program, it states the system only supports 1.1 - I have updated to the latest drivers.
