Hardware required to install ESS & MSS
Hello all,
we are going to install SAP Portal in our company, what's hardware we need to buy? Processors, memory, disk space, etc.....
About 50 employees will acces to portal.
Also, we are going to install SAP ERP with HCM, but not payrroll. to 500 employee with about 10-12 users with access to ERP, what's hardware we need to buy?
We think that I should enough with Test & Development system and other with Production system.
Thank you very much!!!
First of all you will need to do Sizing based on the inputs you have provided here to the Quick Sizer Tool available on SAP Marketplace.
Reach out to your BASIS folks for more on sizing and you will need a partner/consulting company to identify your requirements and suggest hardware.
There is no definitive hardware recommended but you can search for SAP Notes regarding what landscape you should have as well.

harikrishna.NHi Hari,
For Netweaver 04 :
MINIMAL CONFIGURATION: The SYSTEM should have
1) CPU: Dual CPU
2) RAM : 2 GB (Incase of single stack) & 4GB (For Dual Stack)
3) Storage space of atleast 80 GB (althoug it depends on the database usage and the kind of transaction you would be doing on them).
For details please refer the master guide / installation guide or may be you could also refer to the sizing documents.

Hi,
I want to install both MAC OS X Snow Leopard and WINDOWS on a same PC. Is it possible..then mention the minimum Hardware support to install both Operating Systems on a PC. I am waiting for relevant reply from Apple Support Team.
Thank You.I am waiting for relevant reply from Apple Support Team.
Then you'll be waiting a long time. This is a user to user support site hosted by Apple. The Apple Support Team doesn't respond to posts here.
For Snow Leopard, you need an Apple computer with an Intel processor of any flavor. Here are the specs from the Apple Store:
System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel processor
1GB of memory
5GB of available disk space
DVD drive for installation
You'd have to contact Microsoft to find out what specs its OS requires, but I imagine the above would cover it.
Also note that Snow Leopard is only licensed to run on Apple branded equipment. -
Hardware Requirements to install SAP ECC 5.0/6.0
Hey Gurus,
Could you please tell me that what is the best hardware to go for to install SAP ECC 5.0/6.0 so that we can afford the future changes also without buying the new hardwares.
Thanks 'n Regards,
AshwaniDear Ashwani,
It will solely depend on the number of concurrent users, the implemented Modules (project scope), the data volume, Transaction volume etc.
have you tried SAP Quicksizer http://service.sap.com/quicksizer ?
This will give you your requirements in SAPS (CPU power) and RAM. Then you can check that with your H/W vendor and they wil suggest you suitable configuration.
Cheers !!

Hardware requirements to install Oracle Linux 5.8
Hi,
I wish to inatall Oracle Linux as the parent OS in my Laptop. Could you please share the minimum hardware configuration required for smooth functioning.
Thanks,

I wish to inatall Oracle Linux as the parent OS in my Laptop. Could you please share the minimum hardware configuration required for smooth functioning. You will need to keep in mind that Oracle Linux is better suited to enterprise server types of hardware and not for generic laptop/desktop usage. Much of your hardware may just not work. For example, enterprise servers don't have wireless networking, fancy graphics, USB3.0, Bluetooth, touchscreens, and more.
After reading the link that was provided by Srini, I suggest you download and install a copy of VirtualBox and install it. Then you can experiment with your OL5.8 and most any other OS you dream of without mucking up your current functional OS. -
Hardware requirement for installed Xcode SDK on Mac mini
hi All,
i want installed the Xcode SDK on the my MAC mini. so what I need basic requirement

I purchased a mac mini with snow leopard pre installed.
So I don't have any discs.
When purchasing a new Mac, it always comes with the restore disks, which include XCode as an optional install. It sounds like you bought a used Mac, which means the seller should have supplied the OSX disks with the Mac. And if the Mac came with something prior to 10.6, then the seller upgraded to 10.6, they needed to either restore the Mac back to what it came with, or supplied you with the 10.6 disk as well as the restore disks.
So you'll need to get some replacement disks, either from the seller, or by purchasing from Apple. -
If I have OS X 10.6.8 isn't that Snow Leopard? I'm trying to figure out why I can't update to Mavericks with all required hardware. The only thing I am not sure of is the year of my MB. How do I determine this? And why can't I update? Thank you
Processor: 2.4ghz intel core 2 duo
Memory: 4GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAMChoose About this Mac from the Apple menu, click on More Info, and check the model identifier against the following, which are the earliest Macs of each type that can run Mountain Lion and Mavericks:
iMac7,1
MacBook5,1
MacBookPro3,1
MacBookAir2,1
Macmini3,1
MacPro3,1
Xserve3,1
A computer incapable of running Mountain Lion which has a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) or better CPU and at least 2GB of RAM can run Lion 10.7, which is available by clicking here. Neither Mavericks nor Lion support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004.

What is ESS
Employee Self-Service or ESS is a web-based solution designed to automate many of the repetitive tasks of the HR function
by allowing employees direct access to HR information and services. The basic idea of ESS is that employees are empowered to be responsible for their own personal information.
Benefits:-
One of the major reason for organizations implementing ESS is that it allows HR professionals to spend less time in administrative tasks like paper filing,
attendance monitoring etc and more time dealing with more complex and strategic HR issues.
The Gartner Group had estimated that 40 percent of traditional HR activities were handled by ESS in the year 2000 and this can only increase over time.
You can learn about ESS and its features and also Business Package details from:-

How to display ESS/MSS in different NW Portal
Hello Experts,
We are running ESS/MSS on a NW 6.0 portal. Now, we have a requirement to also display this ESS/MSS content on another portal which is running on NW 7.01 (we do not wish to install ESS/MSS on this server).
What is the best way to accomplish this? Could you please give me some advise and links to articles or blogs on the web that has step by step instructions? I searched around, but was unable to find anything related to this.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
AbuAccording to SAP's FPN's prerequisites and Version Interoperability guide
SAP NetWeaver consumer and producer portals should all be running SAP NetWeaver 7.0
SAPNetWeaver '04 is not supported.
Additional details: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/EN/45/76322bf0020dece10000000a11466f/frameset.htm
In fact there are issues if multiple SPS on NW7 are used (for instace producer is SP09 and consumer is SP11). Note 1005176 talks about patching some of the components to fix the issue.
So, FPN is out of the question. Has anyone done it using the Portals' URL or appIntegrator iView? -
SAP ESS/MSS Functional Guide
Hello Experts,
I am new to ESS/MSS, so can anyone provide me with a proper Functional & Technical guide on ESS/MSS, also it would be great if you all provide me with a specific configuration guide on installing ESS/MSS. I have already searched some forums on this, but there was no concrete doc available.
I already have ESS / MSS Configuration (SAP Best Practices for SAP HCM V2.600) (N06) Building Block Configuration Guide & ESS HELP CAESS .
But if you have something more on this then please share.
Thanks & Regards,
Amit NaikHi
Maybe you can follow the following steps :
1.you need to identify what is your requirement for the Employee and the Manager.
2. you need to sit with your portal consultant to check out what views are available for the functionality required.
3. You need to create a ess user (your basis consultant can help you to do that by running hruser)
4. you can login onto the portal and check out whether the standard views have what you require or is there some change required.
4. they you can go to the r/3 system and and use transaction simg_sport for getting to mss configuration quickly.
5. Ess configuration you will find at under spro-> personnel management - > employee self service- > service specific settings...
A guide to configure will be very generic and may not directly help. the documentation against each spro node is quite helpful. do write for any other specifics.
all the best. -
I am at a client site where they have IBM I series installed and it being a small organization, do not have the resources to upgrade the hardware to something else.
Is there a OSS note or any other document that explains of any limitations on specific hardware/ browser capabilities for installing ESS/MSS?
Heard that ADS is not supported on IBM I series - is this true?
Thoughts appreciated.
Regards, SunilHi Priya,
For ESS and MSS exist the documentation that explains the basic configuration, you may consult them at SAP Help.
ESS http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/f6/263359f8c14ef98384ae7a2becd156/frameset.htm
MSS http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/29/d7844205625551e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
In order to configure the access to any transaction through WebGui, what you must do is to Create the Systems at the System Administration area and then create the SAP Transaction iViews you need to access.
Hope this helps,

Is ESS/MSS configured in ECC 6.0 ??
Hi all,
Please let me know whether ESS/MSS is configured in the ECC 6.0 by default and if it is how to check it and start working on it.........
Thanks & Regards
Jerryhi if you have ECC 6.0 it does not mean that you have ESS MSS already configured.
all you have to do is to install ESS MSS to your portal server (EP WAS).
if you are trying to check if some one has already installed it or configured it then you will have to logon to portal and check in PCD -> content provided by SAP
here you will find Employee self service Folder.
if not then you have to deploy the ESS MSS BP.
The link have been changed or revised check this fresh download link for BP
there are mainly 3 BP which you need to install. Make sure you install SAP PCUI_GP 600 first then ESS & MSS.
goto: https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/support
Click on SAP Support Packages - Entry by Application Group
Follow the link goto -> Support Packages and Patches -> SAP Application Components -> SAP ERP ->
SAP ERP 6.0 -> Entry by Component -> SAP XSS (Self Services)
Here you can select the Patch which you want to go after your initial installation which was SP09 i.e
For ESS
Under -> SAP ESS 600 you will get the ESS BP
Click on #OS independent -> supoose you want to go for SP13 then download
SAPESS13_0-20000512.SCA----> SAP ESS 600 Support Package 13 &
SAPESS13P_2-20000512.SCA---->Patch for SAP ESS 600 Support Package 13
similarly for MSS
Under -> SAP MSS 600 you will get the MSS BP
Only SAPMSS13_0-20000503.SCA---->SAP MSS 600 Support Package 13
Similarly for SAP PCUI_GP 600
Under -> SAP PCUI_GP 600 you will get the SAP PCUI_GP BP (Remeber this BP must be installed first)
only SAPPCUIGP13_0-20001215.SCA---->SAP PCUI_GP 600 Support Package 13
Also Check : https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/pages/viewpage.action&pageid=31476
if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Hardware requirements for BOE XI 3.1
Hello,
I am looking for the hardware requirements to install BOE XI 3.1, but could not find any information in Installation guide as well as deployment guide.
The information given is something like below, but if I click the link it will be redirected to SAP service market place.
================================================
System requirements
For a detailed list of supported environments and hardware requirements,
consult the Products Availability Report (PAR) document available on the
Business Objects support site http://support.businessobjects.com/documen
tation/supported_platforms. This document includes specific version and
patch-level requirements for web application servers, web browsers, and
operating systems. For information related to the planning of a
BusinessObjects Enterprise deployment, consult the BusinessObjects
Enterprise Planning Guide.
================================================
Where can I get the correct document?
Thank you in advanced!
rgs,
HiroshiHi,
go to [http://service.sap.com/bosap-support] and navigate to Documentation->Supported Platforms->BusinessObjects XI 3.1
Keep in mind that what you see there are the minimum HW requirements. And if you are planing on deploying BOBJ on a virtual machine, make sure that it gets enough CPU and RAM and that the disk I/O on the host has a decent throughput.
