Hardware requirement for Oracle WebTier

Hi everyone.
I'm planning for webcenter portal site and the first task is sizing for hardware server. I have some document on Oracle public site that describe some information for Middleware server. But with WebTier I got nothing. Searching internet or this forum internal does not help.
My site will serve 200 concurrent user and I neet to sizing hardware for it ?
Can you give me some calculation for CPU, RAM resource ?
Thank in advance.

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/misc/perf-tuning.html - does not provide an exact answer, but gives you some idea as for what to watch for:
"The single biggest hardware issue affecting webserver performance is RAM. A webserver should never ever have to swap, as swapping increases the latency of each request beyond a point that users consider "fast enough". This causes users to hit stop and reload, further increasing the load. You can, and should, control the MaxClients setting so that your server does not spawn so many children it starts swapping. This procedure for doing this is simple: determine the size of your average Apache process, by looking at your process list via a tool such as top, and divide this into your total available memory, leaving some room for other processes."

What are the Hardware requirements for Oracle Universal Content Management ?

Oracle WebLogic Server 11g (10.3.3) System Requirements
Oracle WebLogic Server supports a number of platforms including:
    – Linux
    – Sun Solaris
    – HP-UX
    – Windows 2000, 2003 Server, XP
    • Processor:
    – At least one 1 GHz CPU is recommended.
    – Intel and UNIX processors are supported.
    • Hard disk drive:
    – A full installation requires approximately 2 GB of disk space.
    – The Linux value for file descriptors must be 4096 or greater.
    – Samples are optional (download from OTN).
    • Memory:
    – A minimum of 2 GB RAM is recommended for WebLogic
    Server.
    – Consider the number of simultaneous users and sessions.
    – Consider in-memory programs, such as Coherence.
    System Requirements
The following are some of the basic system requirements for Oracle WebLogic Server 10.3.3:
    • The Oracle WebLogic Server installer requires a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to run.
Oracle WebLogic Server is certified with JDK6.0. As part of the installation, it gives the option
to install the JRockit JDK 6.0 version. As part of postinstallation, prefix the bin directory of
the JDK to the PATH environment variable.
    • The Oracle WebLogic Server installer requires a temporary location in which to unpack the
files. Typically, the installer requires approximately 2.5 times the amount of temporary space
that is required by the installed files.
Note: In this release of WebLogic Server, users can choose which components of WebLogic Server
they use. Specifically, this release allows users to choose whether the Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB),
Java Message Service (JMS), and J2CA services are started when WebLogic Server is started. The
benefit of excluding some services is reduced memory footprint and reduced startup time.

  • SYSTEM HARDWARE REQUIREMENT FOR ORACLE RAC +ORACLE GRID INFRASTRUCTURE

    Hi Guru's,
Can anyone of you explain me what exactly the system H/W requirement for Installing Oracle 11gR2 Grid Infrastructure along with Oracle RAC.
    I already have 8GB RAM,i3 Processor.

If you like to install RAC on vmware, this 8gb memory enough. you can allocate 2gb for one node and also other. So total 4GB enough for RAC installation.

  • Hardware Requirement for Oracle Database

Hi, i need help, i wanna build new server with some requirement of total user who is connect, size of database n etc. Can u tell me how to calculate ram size, processor need and etc to build good server for my company need?
I remember Oracle before have some excel where we can fill the total user n other information n from that information the excel will tell u how many processor do u need, what ram size do u need n other else. Can someone help me find this excel??

    user11257918 wrote:
There is 3360 user who wil connect concurrently to the database and there is 20 million customers in my master customer.
Is really don't have some formula or other things that help me to decide the number of processor and size of the ram? There are formulas. They are generally useless. Any formulas are only as good as the assumptions and, unless you know the assumptions you will not know whether the formulas are in any way valid.
Questions you need to answer are all around workload.
3360 concurrent users who only ask about sysdate will not load the system much. 3360 users who only ask 'what is the customer phone number' using only a properly indexed customer name field will likely not have a huge impact, although you may need to play with the index and the buffer cache for a bit. 3360 users who do concurrent 50 table joins with 20M row sort-merges will have a different impact on the system requirements. And 3360 users who perform updates and inserts using randomly assembled dynamic SQL with no bind variables at all will have a completely different impact again.
(Then again, user 3360 is known to ask some tough questions. But provide good answers as well. ;-) Have to say, I haven't seen much from 3360 lately. Different handle?)
The usual way to get a reasonable idea of the size is to prototype or benchmark. The best benchmark is a copy or simulation of your proposed environment. Skip this, and you will forever be 'right sizing' the app, no matter how much you calculate.
One way I've seen it successfully done is to do a small benchmark, use the SpecMARK tables (http://www.spec.org) to scale.

  • Hardware requirement for BPM Suite

    Hi All,
What are they Hardware requirements for Oracle BPM Suite.
    Regards
    Nasir

    Hi Nasir,
    As per other experts...
There is not much difference between hardware configurations for SOA and BPM.
As BPM 11g works on top of SOA 11g. So just we need a bpm extension.
So as a high ens congiguration u need to have minimum 4GB RAM to work with Jdeveloper with SOA and BPM extenions.
It is advisble to have seperate boxes for all SOA, BPM, DB, OSB servers for better performance.
    Hope this might help u...
also follow the link for 11.1.1.5 installation process that might anwer your question..

  • Hardware Requirements for OC4J and Oracle DB

    Hi,
I'm looking for some information about hardware requirements for a server that will run a Oracle DB and OC4J. It will be used for training purpose (about 10 people) and for running small apps using ADF.
Does anybody knows how much hardware I need?
Is there any documents from Oracle for hardware requirements?
    Any help appreciated. Thanks

    Greetings,
We routinely develop and test on a Dell Vostro laptop with OS Windows XP and 4GB RAM. The key is to either run the Oracle db in a VM (10.2.0.1) with at least 0.5 GB RAM for the VM or use the XE db. I personally prefer the XE db as it is lightweight and easily configured or uninstalled. As far as oc4j is concerned, a lot can be done to improve the efficiency by modifying the oc4j.cmd file in driveletter:/oc4j/bin:
set JVMARGS=-Xmx512m -XX:-UseGCOverheadLimit -server -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -Dclass.load.trace=class-not-found -Dclass.load.log.level=finestThe JVM args settings are fully explained at:

  • Hardware requirement for Fusion Applications HCM installation

    Hi Team,
I want to install fusion applications for HCM.
Can any one suggest the minimum hardware requirement for installation.
Please help me with any documents.
    Thanks,
    Chandra

    Dear Chandra,
Please note that Fusion Applications installation involves following components.
    1. Oracle Identity and Access Management components (Middleware infrastructure)
    2. Oracle Database for IDM
    3. Oracle Database for Fusion Apps
    4. Fusion Applications Domains (includes Admin and managed servers for Fusion Applications)
I have posted a guide on installing Fusion applications on 2 node setup and if you have sufficient hardware to host 2 VMs then it can be done on single server as well.
    http://www.oratraining.com/blog/2013/03/oracle-fusion-applications-installation-step-by-step-guide-11-1-6/
This will explain the 2 node architecture which I have prepared.
    http://www.oratraining.com/blog/2013/03/fusion-applications-architecture-for-2-node-setup/
The minimum memory requirement changes if you select more products since in Fusion apps each products have their own domain and if you select more products then there will be more application managed servers (even if you don't select a product family, it will still create some managed weblogic servers based on dependency with selected products)
The minimum memory requirement to host IDM and consolidated DB in 1 node is 10-12 GB
The minimum memory requirement to host Fusion Applications domains on 2nd node is 64 GB (for 1 product family, for all products selected then 128 GB)
Please note that these are "minimum" requirements based on my experience, not as per the documents since what we are talking about is installing for "learning", not for production, where you will host various components in separate nodes.
    Thanks
