Hardware Requirements to install SAP ECC 5.0/6.0
Hey Gurus,
Could you please tell me that what is the best hardware to go for to install SAP ECC 5.0/6.0 so that we can afford the future changes also without buying the new hardwares.
Thanks 'n Regards,
AshwaniDear Ashwani,
It will solely depend on the number of concurrent users, the implemented Modules (project scope), the data volume, Transaction volume etc.
have you tried SAP Quicksizer http://service.sap.com/quicksizer ?
This will give you your requirements in SAPS (CPU power) and RAM. Then you can check that with your H/W vendor and they wil suggest you suitable configuration.
Cheers !!
Satya.
PS: points always encourage me to reply....Thx ! -
Dear community,
we want to bring your attention to the important fact that upcoming SAP product releases and Enhancement Packages, like SAP ERP 6.0 EhP 6 and other members of the BS7i2011 release of SAP Business Suite 7, will use the new 7.20_EXT kernel. As we are using fully supported third party software when building this version of the 7.20 kernel, kernel 7.20_EXT allows us to safely support our customers in the upcoming years. Our updated build environments make SLES 11 Service Pack 1 and RHEL 6 the minimum Linux versions allowing you to run SAP Kernel 7.20_EXT. Please take this prerequisite into account when implementing projects that require or allow you to use SAP Kernel 7.20_EXT.
You can find more information here:
Note 1563102 - Linux Requirements for 7.20_EXT kernel
SAP Product Availability Matrix for SAP NetWeaver 7.0
Or directly access the PAM for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 EhP 3 (page 4).
In case of questions, please feel free to contact us by a mail to linux[at]sap.com as well.

Hello everyone,
i am already new and need information about the min. hardware requirements for a SAP ERP 2k5 System using ECC 6.0 with IDES 7.10.
I read the Master Guides about ERP, but i am not even more clever than before.
The OS is MS Windows 2k3 Server EE.
The last information i had from another one to this configuration is:
1 dual-core cpu (? Ghz)

Does it fit? Can anyone help me out?
Thanks in advance.

Marcel JahnHi,
IDES 7.10?!?
If it's an IDES system you want to set up, HDD space may be the bottleneck. It's sufficient for installation, but you may run out of disk space since note <a href="https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1013391">1013391</a> states
Hardware Requirement
MS-SQL ORACLE MaxDB DB2 Win/Unix AS/400
DB size (GB): 160 220 220 160 280
Since IDES is for education and training purposes only the rest should be sufficient.
I'm running an ERP 6.0 IDES system (32 bit) on a single core, 3.2 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 250 GB System and 500 GB SAP/DB HDD with pretty good response time.

Hardware requirement for CE7.1 for the development purpose
Experts,
How to calculate the hardware requirement for using CE7.1 for the development purpose? Do you have some parameters or guidelines for it?
We will be using CE7.1 for the development of EP contents, Web dynpro, Web services and Guided procedures.
We need to calculate minimum hardware requirement for this purpose, but could not find the authorised document from SAP.
I searched in the SDN. It is available for NetWeaver 7.0 but not for CE7.1.
Any hints will be highly appreciated.

sudeepHi Sudeep,
On the following links you will find the Composition Environment Product Availability Matrix and the installation guide of Composition Environment 7.1 Developer Edition.

Maximum user and hardware requirement for SAP B1
Dear All,
One of our prospect said that they will need 80 users and 160 connections to servers. And every year there will be additional user growth as much 30. What will be the hardware requirement for that ? has SAP B1 installed in that kind situation ? I appreciate your answer.
Rgds,Mark,
Please refer to the following PDF
https://websmp206.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700000270512007E&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000183&_ADDINC=
Regarding 80 user initially with a growth of 30 user every year should not be a problem, but you might want to consider the volume of transactions to determine the performance aspect of the system.
Also check the following link

Good luck

Hardware requirements for SQL database used with TestStand
We are wanting to set up a SQL server to store the data from TestStand.
How do we determine the hardware requirements for this server? It will be used with 10-30 machines running tests and logging data and another 5-10 machines running queries to pull the data back out for analysis. The result data size will range from 50-25,000 results per run (run times are 1 minute for 50 result tests and 5 hours for the 25,000 result tests).Hi,
database design and hardware requirements are never easy. There are a lot of scientific papers on work load tests and requirement assumptions. I can not give a short answer which machine to use. Just some ideas and starting points.
The most important parts of a database system with large data sets are network bandwidth, RAM and storage bandwidth. With smaller data sets and more complex transactions the CPU becomes more important.
In this TS case the data sets are usually rather small. If the queries are not too complex, the requirements seems to be not too high.
Database performance is usually measured in transactions per minute (tpm). Special database servers can perform several thousands tpm and have costs starting at about 15 $ per tpm. See MS' ad page for a g
ood starting point: http://www.microsoft.com/sql/evaluation/compare/benchmarks.asp
You may also visit the TPC.org homepage.
To be more specific.
I'd choose a modern Intel-based system like P4-3MHz (that have virtual multiprocessors) with at least 512 MB RAM and a RAID5 hard disk storage system (not nercessarily SCSII) with at least 3 single HDs. Use a 100 MB LAN connection at least, best with a switch. Don't forget backup!
Check also the pages of your preferred database provider.
I am on a starting point here too. We have chosen mySQL, which runs (at least now) on the very same machine where TS & LV are running. We plan to test this setup with increasing burden to get a practical assumption of the HW requirements. The planned final setup will have up to 5 test stations and 5 query stations. We'll run about 50 rather complex tests of about 4 hours each that operate in parallel on the test stations.
