Hardware requirements to setup high available SOA system on production env
Hi All,
Can anyone tell me the recommended hardware requirements to setup a highly available SOA system on production machine?
Thanks
Jahangir
We have a 2 managed servers setup in 2 different VMs (SuSe Linux )
The minimum recommended hardware and system configuration requirements for each VM on which Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle Service Bus, Oracle BAM
components are installed is:
• 4 CPU Cores; each with a clock speed of 1.5 GHz or greater
• 8 GB RAM (Physical Memory)
• Disk Space: 50 GB SAN Disk Space on each VM
Please note we have separate domain for all three components. Typically JVM size is 1GB for admin server and 2GB for managed servers. With this configuration, the memory usage is always around 90%.. If you want to reduce the memory usage %, you may have to increase the RAM size..

How to setup high availability and high precision Local NTP Service in Server2008R2?
Hi guys,
We have some servers on VMs, and we hope that the error between 2 server's clock MUST be smaller than 1 sec.
For some reason, these servers can't access the internet. So, we suggest that we should setup some local NTP servers.
For example, we want servers[10.10.10.1~10.10.10.6] to be the NTP server, and all clocks on servers[10.10.10.1~10.10.10.120] are synchronized automatically. How can we config NTP servers and clients?
And when some NTP server's system clock changed suddenly(e.g. when some physical machine is down, and we move the VM onto a new one. The system clock may change.) How can we detected the change and fix the error?
BTW, it says that "The W32Time service is not a full-featured NTP solution that meets time-sensitive application needs and is not supported by Microsoft as such." (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc773263(v=ws.10).aspx).
Can we still use W32TIME? Because Non-microsoft software may cause a VERY LONG term examination in our company, and we prefer a microsoft solution.
Sorry for the bad english.
Kind regards,
M.Sheng
AlexanderHi sjmind,
In domain environment, all computer clocks in an AD DS domain are synchronized with the time of an authoritative computer. Many factors can affect time synchronization on
a network.
An AD DS forest has a predetermined time synchronization hierarchy. The Windows Time service synchronizes time between computers within the hierarchy, with the most accurate
reference clocks at the top. Therefore it is impossible to use multi computer as the authority of time source.
You can refer the following KB to plan how to sync your domain computer time.

Oracle EBS R12.1.3 High Availability with RAC 11g on VMWARE
Dear All,
Our customer requirement is of high availability and good utilization of hardware for EBS R12.13 implementation. As per our strategy we want to use Oracle VM(I think it doesn't require any licensing) , RAC 11gR2 and appstier load balancing. We have only two servers to achieve all these. One one node there will be two VMs one for dbtier and another one for appstier and same will be on second server. So this way we will be having four virtual machines on two physical nodes. For all these we will use OEL Linux as Operating system
Please share your experiences , if above deployment model is correct or need further enhancements.

Hardware requirements for SAP ERP 2005 using ECC 6.0
Hello everyone,
i am already new and need information about the min. hardware requirements for a SAP ERP 2k5 System using ECC 6.0 with IDES 7.10.
I read the Master Guides about ERP, but i am not even more clever than before.
The OS is MS Windows 2k3 Server EE.
The last information i had from another one to this configuration is:
1 dual-core cpu (? Ghz)
4-6 GB RAM
300 GB HDD
Does it fit? Can anyone help me out?
Thanks in advance.

Marcel JahnHi,
IDES 7.10?!?
If it's an IDES system you want to set up, HDD space may be the bottleneck. It's sufficient for installation, but you may run out of disk space since note <a href="https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1013391">1013391</a> states
Hardware Requirement
MS-SQL ORACLE MaxDB DB2 Win/Unix AS/400
DB size (GB): 160 220 220 160 280
Since IDES is for education and training purposes only the rest should be sufficient.
I'm running an ERP 6.0 IDES system (32 bit) on a single core, 3.2 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 250 GB System and 500 GB SAP/DB HDD with pretty good response time.

SAP POS - Xpress Server High availability
Dear All,
I have a requirement for Installing "High Availability" for SAP POS XPS server (Store server), Transnet server, & Transnet client.
I have gone thru the possibilities of having Backup server for XPS store server, but the backup server supported by SAP has some major restrictions listed below.
1. Store closing
2. Terminal Closing
3. EOD ( End of the day)
4. Exchange with reciept
5. Layaway sale.
Please let me know whether their is a possibility for achieving high availability for store server which performs the above listed transactions too.
Appreciate if any body can reply asap.
Best regards
SyedHello Syed,
Having High Availability for an Xpress is not standards SAP implementation and is quite u201Coverkillu201D. The use of the backup server is designed to allow the store to function and service itu2019s customers until a server can be rebuilt or repaired.
BTW:
-Layaways can be done in offline mode and it will post to the server when it becomes available
-Returns can be done on the backup server if the customer implemented Returns Authorization -
Hardware Sizing for high Availability system
Hi,
I have to perform Hardware sizing for high Availability system for a fresh installation and I am quite new to this area.
It will be a User based sizing.
Total user count 150.

Hi,
I am trying to establish hardware requirements for installing SOA Suite 11.1.1.4.0 on ExaLogic Server for development, testing, staging and production environment. What will be the ideal configurations you need for a 2 Node Cluster on Exalogic Server.
Any help will be appreciated.
Cheers,
Varun"Can we have same configurations for production that enterprise deployment guide speaks about."
That is your own choice, maybe you want a different identity management system or do not want to use RAC etcetera.
You pick the components that are relevant to you and follow the guide to set-up these components.
To get acquainted with setting-up such an environment it would be wise to start with the webhosts and the soahosts, see if you can get to work.
"Whether we need to think about high availability system incase of production or will this configuration suffice the scenario here."
It discusses a reference topology for a high available environment and how to set-up the environment. -
Sender agreements on high availability setup
Hi
We have XI and ERP exchanging some messages. Our ERP system has been switched to high availability setup.
As for one scenarion in XI: ERP is sender and there is ONE sender agreement that can use ONE communication channel (RFC).
In that communication channel, "RFC Server Parameter" is configured for one of the app servers. "RFC Metadata Repository Peremeters" are set to point to the load balancer.
What happens is that this scenarion can be started only from this app server that is configured in the communication channel.
How to enable that both ERP app servers could be th senders for this scenario?
I am missing something obious...
Thanks,
HeikoThis seems strange for me too. But if I set the RFC Message server and Metadata server to use the same system, the connection will not work.
It seems that there are two possible ways:
- change communication channel so that it would not be app server specific. Tried but don't seem to figure out how this should be configured.
- add multiple sender agreements. XI dos not allow multiple sender agreements... requires different receiver... but there is no receiver at all.
Any ideas?

Hi,
Noticed that setups on weblogic HA (High Availability) cluster setups have a bug in setting up the JMS SOA module.
Currently 2 mandatory queues (distributed) and corresponding Factories are missing: eg BPELInvokerQueue and BPELWorkerQueue.
These queues basically guarantee no message loss during for example http/SOAP communications. Like in our case BPEL <-> OSB.
On non HA setups and probably older versions of BPEL the porting to WL9.2 goes smoother as they do contain these queues/.
Does anyone know putting them manually resolves the problem? Putting Service request on OTN to support this.
Thanks and Regards
JirkaHi,
okay, you can use 4 virtual servers. But there is no need to deploy dedicated server roles (CAS + MBX). It is better to deploy multi-role Exchange servers, also virtual! You could install 2 multi-role servers and if the company growths, install another multi-role,
and so on. It's much more simpler, better and less expensive.
CAS-Array is only an Active Directory object, nothing more. The load balancer controls the sessions on which CAS the user will terminate. You can read more at
http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/03/05/load-balancing-in-exchange-2013.aspx Also there is no session affinity required.
First, build the complete Exchange 2013 architecture. High availability for your data is a DAG and for your CAS you use a load balancer.
On channel 9 there is many stuff from MEC:

High Availability of BPEL System
We are having a High Availability architecture configuration for the BPEL System in our production environment.
The BPEL servers are clustered in the middle tier of the architecture and RAC is used in the database tier of the architecture.
We have 5 BPEL processes which are getting invoked within each other. For eg:
BPELProcess1 --> BPELProcess2 --> BPELProcess3, BPELProcess4 &
BPELProcess4 --> BPELProcess5
Now when all the above BPEL processes are deployed on both the nodes of the BPEL server, how do we handle the end point URL's of these BPEL servers.
Should we hardcode the end point URL in the invoking BPEL process or should we replace the IP address of the two nodes of the BPEL server with the IP address of the load balancer.
If we replace the IP address of the BPEL server with the IP address of the load balancer, it will require us to modify, redeploy and retest all the BPEL processes again.
Please advise
ThanksThe BPEL servers are configured with active - active topology and RAC is used in the database tier of the architecture.
BPEL Servers is not clustered. Load Balancer is used in front of the two nodes of the BPEL servers. -
Hi,
I currently have a single Exchange 2010 Server that has all the roles supporting about 500 users. I plan to upgrade to 2013 and move to a four server HA Exchange setup (a CAS array with 2 Server as CAS servers and one DAG with 2 mailbox Servers). My
goal is to plan out the transition in steps with no downtime. Email is most critical with my company.
Exchange 2010 is running SP3 on a Windows Server 2010 and a Separate Server as archive. In the new setup, rather than having a separate server for archiving, I am just going to put that on a separate partition.
Here is what I have planned so far.
1. Build out four Servers. 2 CAS and 2 Mailbox Servers. Mailbox Servers have 4 partitions each. One for OS. Second for DB. Third for Logs and Fourth for Archives.
2. Prepare AD for exchange 2013.
3. Install Exchange roles. CAS on two servers and mailbox on 2 servers. Add a DAG. Someone had suggested to me to use an odd number so 3 or 5. Is that a requirement?
4. I am using a third party load balancer for CAS array instead of NLB so I will be setting up that.
5. Do post install to ready up the new CAS. While doing this, can i use the same parameters as assigned on exchange 2010 like can i use the webmail URL for outlook anywhere, OAB etc.
6. Once this is done. I plan to move a few mailboxes as test to the new mailbox servers or DAG.
7. Testing outlook setups on new servers. inbound and outbound email tests.
once this is done, I can migrate over and point all my MX records to the new servers.
Please let me know your thoughts and what am I missing. I like to solidify a flowchart of all steps that I need to do before I start the migration.

HANA High Availability System Vs Storage Vs VIP failover
Dear Experts,
Hope your all doing great. I would like to seek your expertise on HANA high availability best practice. We have been deciding to use TDI for BW on HANA. The next big question for us is how make it available atleast 99.99%.
I was going through multiple documents, SDN forums, etc..but would like to see how the experts are performing in real time.
My view -
Virtual IP failover is a common HA practice which have been used to failover CI / DB hosts depends on failure/maintenance. In this case, both nodes can be used to run app servers.
System replication - HANA based required secondary standby node, which doesn't accept user requests, but replicate the database from primary using logs after initial data snapshot either synchronous or Asynchronous. (Can be used as HA or DR - if servers are between different data centers).
Storage replication - HANA based required secondary standby node, which replicates SAN for HA/DR.
Could you please provide your expertise method you followed for HANA HA and what are the pros, cons and challenges that you have faced or facing.
Thanks

Do you know any specific doc that describes the installation and configuration steps of 10g RAC on NAS? If possible, can you provide some link that I could use to perform this task?
I have done RAC installations on SAN without any problems and its something I'm fairly experienced with. With NAS I am not really comfortable since I can't seem to find any documentation that describes step by step installation procedure or guidelines for that matter.
Thank you for your input
