See my reply in the other thread. Please don't double post as it is confusing to give answers. Unfortunately your picture doesn't show any helpful information to give us a clue as to what the problem is. A more helpful image would be of the same view but with the Input/output selection shown (rather than the fx view) by clicking on the double arrow icon to the left of the fx one which is selected at present.

  • Accessing System resources with flex (especially Hardware resources)

Can Flex access systems resources? Is there any integration
with c++ (dlls), or java classes of some sort? ........trying 2
decide on an RIA technology ..... and hardware resources
accessibility is quite key, infact a show stopper.
If Flex cant, any ideas of an RIA wit dis capability?
    thanks guys.

Even with AIR, no dll access.

  • Releasing hardware resources on LabVIEW crash

    Hi all,
I am using PXI chassis with many DAQ cards, mux, ARINC,RS-422 etc.
It is a common problem that in the event of LabVIEW crash, the hardware resources are not released and the system should be restarted to access the resources again.
    Scenario:
LV1 is the main LabVIEW program that opens the harware resources.
LV2 is a separate LabVIEW program (a utility) runs as a separate process.
Now if the LV1 opened few references to the hardware devices and shares these references to the LV2.
In the event of LV1 process crash, LV2 still runs; can the LV2 process close the open references?
Can LV2 process release the resources opened by LV1?

It really depends a little. Even XP was fairly good about releasing normal OS objects such as all kind of handles (files, synchronizationo objects, GDI objects, etc). But once kernel resources get involved things get a lot  more trickier and I really doubt there is an universal way for an OS to make sure even such resources get properly closed on process termination without a very intensive, expensive and performance hungry bookkeeping. And I don't see the average user wanting to pay that price in performance all the time for the incidential case when the system crashes.
So in general it is safer to restart the OS after a crash even if the system seems to work fine, This is definitely true if your application has been involved in some way with directly invoking kernel drivers, which any application that interfaces to NI (and other manufacturers) hardware basically does. I'm not saying that NI couldn't possibly improve that in the user space part of those drivers somehow. However the effort for that could be pretty expensive and the perceived advantage would be small for most end users.

  • Is there a ipad mini online hardware diagnostic check?

Is there a ipad mini online hardware diagnostic check? Or is there a really good app that will tell me if everything is working properly?

Of course not, why make something a buyer could fix himself when Apple can diagnose it and make repair charges so ridiculously expensive that they will offer you a 6% trade in discount on a brand new model? lol And make it sound like your stealin it from them at that price. Did I mention this happened to me? lol. The headphone jack works just fine. When the speakers show up I'll slap those in and have an awesome $162 ipad mini!

  • [Hyper-V] Too Much Hardware Resources?

    Hello,
I have a Small Business Server 2008 standard (SBS2008) install that is
virtualized. The virtual was installed and set up on Hyper-V Server 2008 originally 5 years ago. I simply copied the virtual server from 2008 to a new set of hardware running
Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 with NUMA virtualization enabled.
The new hardware is a Dell PowerEdge R520 server with dual Xeon E5-2420 2.2 GHZ processors, 96 GB Ram (16384MB @ 1600 mhz x 6 DIMMs spanned across 2 NUMA nodes), and 6 600GB Seagate Cheetah 15K RPM SAS 6Gbs drives in a RAID 10 configuration on a Dell RAID
Perc H710P (which is made by LSI)  and we know that our disk I/O benchmark tops out at
3.5 Gbps read and write on the appropriate file sizes that they would typically read and/or write. The NICs are dual gigabit Broadcom NetXtreme NICs teamed together through powershell (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj130847.aspx)
In short, the new hardware is FAST. Really fast.
On the SBS2008 install, we initially assigned 18 logical processors and 24 GB of ram because we thought let's throw as much resources to it as possible to ensure it is also fast.
Up until yesterday, nobody was having a problem, for approximately two weeks. Then for no reason, the server begins to perform horribly - pings to itself, from itself, would avg around 80 ms, spike as high as 300 - 400 ms and not go below 10 ms. This should
always be <1 ms. Pings to the Hyper-V server from a workstation were consistently <1 ms. Pings to the other virtualized server (Server 2008 R2 Enterprise running remote desktop services with 56 GB ram assigned and a lot of processors) were also consistently
< 1 ms. From Hyper-V to the SBS2008 virtual were also as bad as pinging SBS2008 from itself to itself. Not until I was able to stop Microsoft Exchange and SQL Server did the server start to respond 'normally' again. I then shut down the server and decreased
ram to 12 GB and logical processors from 18 to 8. I also disabled NUMA virtualization. Since yesterday at 3 pm, the server has been performing great.
    Questions:
    1. Could it be possible that we had assigned too many logical processors or RAM initially to the SBS2008 virtual guest?
    2. Could it be possible NUMA virtualization was causing these issues?
    3. Is it possible the issue could still not be resolved and would represent itself again in two weeks?
    4. This SBS2008 virtual guest is a 5-year old install, installed according to Microsoft's best practices guide on SBS2008 installation. Beyond that, could there still be some configuration issue that could result in that kind of poor performance?
Any other thoughts and suggestions are welcome. The server is again performing fine since the changes mentioned above, but there was no definite resolution discovered, so I have no proof that it is resolved until time tells us otherwise.

#1 is your likely cause. What you're really assigning a slice of CPU time, not a true processor.
Excessively assigning CPU resources to a VM rarely results in better performance and can definitely result in worse performance for that VM and others as well. The maximum
supported processors for 2008 is 4.  Going beyond the supported and tested processors can result in unwanted behavior.
    For other OSes, look here:

Also, for future Hyper-V questions, a better place to post is the Hyper-V forum, here:

It's where all the Hyper-V gurus hang out.

  • Hardware Resources For ECC 6.0

    Hello,
Can anyone assist me in determining the hardware requirement
for ECC 6.0 installation (Server config. CPU, RAM, DISK SPACE etc.)
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sumit

It all depends on the no.of user/ DB / OS.  Quick sizer is good tool to opt for.
Run the pre-requisite check and select all ABAP and JAVA components in the list and it will give all the required information in the final summary report.
For better performance 8-16GB RAM for dual stack is good.

  • Hardware Configuration Checker Tool??

A while back I found a tool in Cisco's web site that would allow you to select a switch, enter in its modules and check the configuration for errors... Does any one have a link to that tool? I cannot for the life of me find it again...

I know this is a very old thread, but for those who happen upon it, the tools other users have linked here have since been retired for the Cisco Commerce Build & Price Tool at https://apps.cisco.com/ccw/cpc/guest/home.do?flow=nextgen#!/
Under Estimates and Configurations, select Create Configuration. A new Configuration Set will be created.
Expand the Service Preferences toggle button (+) and choose whether or not you want the tool to add recommended services.
    Click the Find Product link.
In the Search textbox, type at least 3 letters of your item name/description (e.g. "nexus 7000") and click the Search button.
Scroll down to find your hardware and add it to your cart by clicking the + sign next to the item.
Click the Add button in the resulting box under Selected Items.
On the subsequent screen, scroll down to your saved item and click the Select Options link to configure PSU's, supervisor and I/O modules, etc.
The Show Incompatible SKUs link will show you when options you've selected are incompatible.
    HTH.

  • Kernal Panics.... hardware tests check out OK

This has been an on again off again problem with my early 2008 24" iMac.  Several times now I've had to reinstall the OS.  It came with Leopard and I tried installing SL, but gave up about a year ago as not matter what I (or the Apple Genius's [yeah, right]) tried, we could not get SL to install.  They even replaced the harddrive, logic board and several other internal components.
Now, yesterday I installed Lion to an external hard drive and then migrated everything from my MacBook (which is running Lion) to the iMac.  It took approximately 8 hourst to erase the hard drive, install Lion and then Migrate.  I then left my iMac on overnight... no problem.  Now, today, I started working (nothing that should consume major resources... just checking eMail, checking out the new features in Lion, etc.) and suddenly, the Kernal panics have started again.
I previously had VMware installed on this iMac, but it should be gone (right?) now that I've zero'd out the HD and installed Lion.
The following is the report that was submitted to Apple after I reboot the computer.  Does anybody see anything in this 'report' that could provide some insight into what might be going on?  I'm going to try and delete some 3rd party software and see if that helps, but the MacBook has all the same programs and has no issues....

  • Hardware Resources for EJB?

Could someone tell me what hardware it takes to run an application using EJBs. I heard that they are very resource intensive compared to just jsp, servlets.
I know servlet technology and am considered learning EJBs. I have no problem running a jsp/servlet application and MySQL database server on the same computer (700 MHZ P3). I am considering trying a JBoss, Tomcat, MySQL combination on the same computer.
Keep in mind I am talking about a very low transaction rate. Maybe 1 every 15 seconds. This is mostly for learning EJBs.

You never mentioned the amount of RAM you have on your machine. This could be a limiting factor. Having sufficient RAM (256 MB+) should be good enough to run all the three together for learning purposes.
    Hope this helps

  • Does the "Enable hardware acceleration" check box work in Google Chrome?

There have been some recent changes to the Flash Player "Enable hardware acceleration" tab in the settings dialog on Google Chrome.  This tab is referenced in the How do I disable or enable hardware acceleration? FAQ.
You may have noticed that this tab was recently removed but is now present once again.  We wanted to let you know that our intention for this setting on Chrome is to allow you to toggle hardware video decoding on and off.  However, as of the current version of Flash Player (11.7.700.225) this is currently not enabled.  While the check box will allow you to check and uncheck the box, nothing is actually occurring behind the scenes.  We expect to correct this behavior in a upcoming release and will update this FAQ once completed.

davidgurvich wrote:Gallium is a software renderer.
No it's not. Gallium is a new architecture for writing drivers, and a bit more than that. Only softpipe and llvmpipe are software renderers, the others are hardware. If easyonthev is now seeing llvmpipe where he saw RV before, it indeed means he lost hardware rendering. I don't have experience with radeon cards though, so I don't know where to look for solutions. According to the log, everything loaded fine.
easyonthev, which graphic card exactly do you have? And are you using KMS or not?

  • Hardware Specifics Check - (Preview Window Choppy)

So I upgraded from CS6 to CC and what use to play smoothly in the preview window is now playing choppy. What I have discovered is that if I loop the troubled spot 1-6 times, it plays smoothly and will so long as the project is open. After the project is closed and reopened, it resets and all the footage starts smooth for 1-3 seconds, and then bogs down. This is with the preview monitor's resolution set to the lowest. I really hope it's not my hardware, but if someone would care to verify my specs, that would be great.
    OS: Windows 8.1
Graphics: XFX DD Radeon R7970 3GB DDR5, 384 bit BUS, GPU Clock 925MHz Memory 1375MHz
    CPU: Intel i7-3820 CPU @3.6GHz (8 CPUs)
    Memory: 64 GB DDR3
Disk: 7200 rpm connected through Sata and USB 3.0
The problem is not limited to HD formats, I can't even preview standard definition formats without choppy playback 2-3 seconds in.
I've also adjusted the render paramater between PERFORMANCE and MEMORY, both equally seem to deliver the same results.
It's a bummer because I was able to edit RED footage without a problem, now it's just ridiculous.

It's weird because in CS6 everything was smooth. I don't know if it's CC or
something on my hardware that needs to be turned on or disabled.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling using CC cleaner. Same results.
UPDATE: My hard disk transfer rate is capped at 50-60mb/s during playback. Could this be the problem?

  • Is Media Encoder capable of utilising all hardware resources?

I have recently built a new workstation for video editing and I am wondering about Adobe Media Encoders ability to use all resources. The system has:
    Intel Xeon E5-2680 v3 2.5Ghz with 12 cores
    128GB DDR 4 RAM
    Nvidia Quadro K6000
    Nvidia Tesla K40m
A network connection to a SAN capable of over 200 MBps (yes that is bytes)
Samsung SSD as the OS and application disk
I have the Quadro and Tesla setup with Nvidia Maximus, compute tasks are off loaded to the Tesla while the Quadro handles graphics. As you would expect the machine is exceptionally quick.
However when using Adobe Media Encoder it just doesn't seem to use all the resources available to it. When I am transcoding a tonne of files it uses a fraction of the resources available to it. This does mean I can keep editing and doing other things without any slow down, but in some instances I would prefer if it just ploughed through the files as fast as possible. Watching utilisation on CPU, RAM, GPU, and I/O; none of them max out. CPU never really goes above 20% total usage over all cores, it easily has 50% of the RAM free, the Nvidia control panel shows between 10% and 14% usage on just the Tesla and the network I/O is between 350 and 450 Mbps. I have seen all resources more heavily used when editing in PP, especially the network I/O to the storage.
Are some of the codecs more efficient than others or is AME just not that great at using the resources of such a powerful machine?

Sometimes a project can be weird/corrupted and do strange things. Then you need to outsmart the computer. For example, try an audio-only export. Create a .wav file and import back into project, and if all tracks are properly represented in that mix, add .wav to timeline, mute all other audio tracks, and do your final AV export using that new audio.
    Thanks
