Hardware: What is Generating Heat?

Hi, I've been finding that my Mid 2012 13" Macbook Pro (non-retina) is generating a seemingly unnecessary amount of heat around the I/O Ports, and all around the keys ESC, F1, ~123, TAB, QWE, CAPSLOCK, ASD. This is where all the heat is coming from. The heat seems to be the worst when using the internet. I'm wondering if the GPU, CPU or WIFI card or anything else is located around that area to help me narrow down the cause of this heat. It's not so bad that I would worry about damage to my computer, but at the same time it seems like too much heat for what I'm doing, which concerns me because I don't want it to get worse over time. I absolutely love my MBP, its my first Mac and I want it to last absolutely as much as possible. If its the WIFI card - if WIFI cards even generate heat I don't know - then I will start bringing a LAN cord to school with me, as I'd rather deal with the clutter of extra wires if it means I can reduce the wear and tear. So, yea, based on all this, what hardware component do you think is causing the heat? Would it be the WIFI, CPU, GPU, HDD, or something else?

Download  from the Bresink web site Temperature Monitor:
http://www.bresink.com/osx/TemperatureMonitor.html
When you MBP gets hot, post an image of Temperature Monitor display and,
an image of Activity Monitor,  set to show ALL Processes and %CPU to display values from high to low.
Ciao.
You may also reset the SMC and see if that has a positive effect.

    And?
Every device in the world that uses electricity generates heat.

  • What causes excessive heat buildup on the bottom of DV7-1232. Hottest area is in front of battery.

have replaced the battery but it is not the battery that is getting overheated. It is the area adjacent to the battery toward the front of the laptop.

4 things that generate the most heat in a laptop, most to least.
    processor
graphics chip ( some are part of the processor now)
    hard drive
    battery
Its probably the AMD Turion processor that is generating the heat, they are known for this problem.

  • What Can generate a LastLogon?

I don't need to know how to find lastlogon, we have all of that information. I do need to know what kind of actions can generate a lastlogon event. The user in question theoretically did not have a computer on the domain, yet a lastlogon date exists for
the user after the date which he no longer worked for the company. So it's possible his account was logged in on some other computer, yet nobody would have been able to unlock it other than the user (assuming he didn't share the password.
So the question is, if a computer is sitting logged on, but with a locked desktop, what could be going on that would generate a lastlogon? I've heard theories like a mapped network drive refreshing itself after a period of time, but I can't really find anything
definitive regarding what exactly can cause the lastlogon to be updated on a domain controller.

    Hi,
I would like to confirm what is the current situation? If there is anything that I can do for you, please do not hesitate to let me know, and I will be happy to help.

  • Get Hardware Info to generate computer unique key

    Hello,
I am trying to port a desktop app I have in  c# .net framework to adobe AIR.
One of the things I need to do is generate a computer unique key to identify the computer on the server.
In C# i would use the System.Management.Management class and get the Motherboard Serial number, CPU ID, etc... Is this possible in ActionScript? What alternatives do I have? I can't find any reference of this on the web...
    Thanks

Unfortunately there isn't any way to do this in AIR currently.
The only option I can think of is to use another external program to get that data and communicate it back to the AIR app. (Currently to communicate with external apps you need some sort of bridge such as Merapi for Java. In AIR 2.0 you will be able to execute external applications directly.)

  • Harddisk is generating heat

My harddisk generates quite a bit of heat. Temperature almost always stays above 50 c  and some times even reaches 60 c.
I have read that heat is not particularly good for harddisks. I dual boot with windows 7/ Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Cola on Compaq presario CQ61-119tx. Harddisk temperature issue is present on both of the platfroms. Laptop has intel t6400 2.0 Ghz processor, Nvidia G103M gpu and Harddisk is 500gb with 5400rpm. Laptop is 2 Month old. Any help will be appreciated very much.

Max temp for your T6400 is 105C. Here is a link to the specs at Intel. Look at Tjunction. That is the maximum temoerature. The temps you reported are well within the acceptable range. If you want cooler temps, then your only choice would be to replace your SATA hard drive with an SSD drive. That is a fairly expensive upgrade, but well worth it for speed and reliability.

  • What is GENERATE EXPORT DATASOURCE

    Hello gurus,
When we right click on Master data infosource we have a option like <u>GENERATE EXPORT DATASOURCE</u>, so what is the significance of that and what actually happens when we press that.
    I ll surely award points.
    Thanks

    Dear Khanna,
When u click on export data source option, system generates a infosource.
Actually this is required when u want to send data from one infoprovider to another infoprovider in same system or in external BIW system.
In practice some times need comes for sending data from one target to another target. In this situation this is required. Many times u first load data in to ODS and then u send it to cube, this is the typical case you need export data source.
Once you click this, system created infosource from the same. useing this infosource and creating update rule u can load data in to another target.
    Hope this answers your question.

    1. Is there a shortcut to put the phone on silent ???? i dont even seem to be finding a looooong cut..... lol
Swipe down on the homescreen and touch the Notifications icon. Doing so will highlight in blue or turn off the blue highlight, quickly switching from Normal to Silent.
    2. How does one select text ???
Touch and hold the text (one word) you wish to select. Holding a couple of seconds will select an entire sentence. You can always touch the outer blue dot selectors to move the selection area around.
    3. There is no separate icon for the mail box......
Your email is in the Hub. There is no seperate icon, correct. You don't need a seperate icon. From any screen, one continuous swipe up from the bottom bezel and over to the right should return you to the Hub.

  • USB audio hardware: what works with iBook 366 clam and OSX 2.8?

I just bought a Behringer UAC202 USB audio interface. My iBook will recognize that it is attached and will give me audio 'out' settings, but it will not configure any audio 'in' settings. It works fine on my iBook G4 with OSX 4.11 however.
Is this a Behringer problem? Do I need to use OSX Panther on the old iBook? Is there a problem with the old clamshell's as far as USB audio in?
Anyone know a cheap USB audio hardware that works in this case? I want to dedicate this great old machine to some easy audio useage.... using the Polar RAM looper instrument in Digital Performer..... and nothing else..... I'm not recording audio to my hard drive..... just want to get audio in and out of the iBook to and from Digital Performer.
    Thanks!

Driver support in Panther is pretty limited with regards to newer hardware as far as i've experienced. If there isn't any drivers offered, either by the company or via third party, then you may be stuck.
The only way that i get audio in on my Blueberry iBook is with the Apple iMic that i picked up at an Apple Store a few years ago. It works fine under panther, tiger and leopard.
    Good Luck

  • How and what is generating response for an url ending with infoobject.cwr ?

    See the attached file first.
I'm trying to find how the response is generated when i click on the notification tab. With firebug, i know that the request URL is :
    businessobjects/enterprise115/admin/en/infoobject.cwr?&action=-10005&cmd=notification&id=245228
    action     -10005
    cmd     notification
    id     245228
I'm trying to figure out where and how the response is generated. I can't find any mapping to a servlet  corresponding to "infoobject.cwr".

    Hi, ilplvm,
Calling directly into InfoView or InfoObjects is not supported or documented. If you'd like to access reports using URLs, then you can use "OpenDocument" [UR L  Reporting|http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/xi3-1_url_reporting_opendocument_en.pdf]
That doc, along with documentation on our SDK's is found in our [Developer Library|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/sdklibrary].
