Harman Kardon iSub no longer supported. Any compatible sub-woofers around?

Ah, pangs of new technology! If you're shopping for any third party device, make absolutely sure it will be supported by the Intel Core Duo. While the sound is solid from the internal speakers, I still would like a sub-woofer. None of the ads I've looked at specify Core Duo compatibility. Luckily, I'm holding on to my old iMac and Powerbook, which gleefully recognize my iSub.

I have found a way to make our iSub work again on Intel Macs.
But this can't be done using only the iSub with the internal speakers or the computer's audio line out port.
If you use the iSub together with an external USB soundcard, and select the USB soundcard as the sound output, then the iSub volume control will show up and our lovely iSub will come alive again with the USB sound device attached.
low freq. sound will come out from the iSub and high freq. sounds will come out from the USB sound card's line output.
so you'll need the following:
1) USB sound output device (eg. iMic)
2) a pair of speaker connected to the USB sound output device's line out.
this is what I use:

2) Creatve SBS Vivid 60 Speaker - http://images.creative.com/iss/images/products/headers/prod11425hdr_1_61.jpg
3) karman/kardon iSub USB (standalone version).
again, hope Apple will fix this issue in the next 10.4.7 so we don't have to use our iSub with an external output device.

Mac OS X Lion has dropped support for Rosetta, the feature that allowed you to run PowerPC apps on previous OS X systems. Check if you can find a newer version of the app you are trying to run that supports Intel processors.
What application are you trying to run? Maybe I can help you find a version that runs on Lion.

Harman Kardon isub issues

On my wk imac (g4, flat panel) I have a wierd isub problem...sometimes it'll just kick in really loud, sometimes not at all until I kick the sound up a hair, then all of a sudden it comes on. Sometimes nothing until I unplug the USB and plug it back in...it seems to kick start it then...any ideas??

yeah and certain programs will kill it also adjusting the volume seems like theres some kinda balance adjusting going on also in this bug

Harman Kardon iSub 2000 - Power Supply pin points required

G'day
Can someone help me here, recently moved houses (separated from.. you know) and had limited time to get my things to here, I lost the power supply for the iSub here (kicking my guts as want use it as i love it!), I was wondering if someone could help me out with the pin out points so that I can make one please. And what was the output voltage again?

You might try a universal AC Adapter from Radio Shack. Radio Shack's AC Adapter has multiple interchangeable plug types & you can set the exact voltage via a switch on the power supply too. They're not too expensive either if that worries you.

Yosemite/mac pro: I can no longer move any folders or files around!

I hava a Mac Pro (late 2013) with Yosemite 10.10.1, migrated from old former Mac Pro/Mavericks yesterday.
I split files onto internal HD (system, some user data, all programs, Library, etc.) and pics, documents, iTunes Media onto external HD (RAID)
I have all the rights to read/write folders and files.
I can copy files from one location to another (via ctrl-context menu copy command), I can also delete files,
But simply dragging files is nowhere possible!
Not with each HD or between them
What am I missing here, this is very very strange ...
Please help, this is really urgent,

I can click a file or folder (highlight the icon/filename, rename, etc.) but I simply cannot drag it.
the simpliest normal thing you do in the finder, moving files to a different location, is simply not possible (not with mouse, not with wacom pen)
(I also cannot drag the icons around on the desktop, which is minor problem at the moment; I can create new folder though (but cannot move them)
(I am Admin, have all rights to read/write)
(when using the program Adobe Bridge (sort of image catalogue) I can move the files around)
really strange....

C3180 "PowerPC applications are no longer supported"

I recently upgraded to the new Mac OS, and when I did the scanner assistant software for my C3180 disappeared -- there are no longer any controls on my computer that I can find that tell the scanner to scan, and the scan button on the printer itself does not work.
I tried to reinstall the printer using the installation disc that came with it, but the HP Installer icon that pops up when I insert the disc has a line through it, and when I click on it, it gives me an error message saying the the application can't be opened because "PowerPC applications are no longer supported"
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

How to test harman-kardon 4+1 speakers on Qosmio X305-712?

Hello -- when I open up the Realtek HD Audio Manager, the only option for "Speaker Configuration" is Stereo, but the system has the Harman-Kardon 4 speakers on the top and the subwoofer on the bottom -- that's the physical layout. Things sound good in stereo, but I can't tell whether the 4+1 speaker layout is working properly. Anyone happen to know what I can do to verify / test / find out? Is there a third-party testing program? Some other testing program from Harman-Kardon or from Realtek? Any other ideas? I have the latest sound drivers from the Toshiba web site for Windows 7 64-bit (Dolby, Realtek, and Speech I think are the three drivers in the "sound" category.
System is a brand-new X305-712 Qosmio.

I own an X305-Q706 which also comes with Harman Kardon 4.1 speakers... and just like everybody else I'm very disappointed with this sound issue. A real let down.
Everything worked nicely on Vista. I decided to upgrade to Windows 7 and everything seemed to also work nicely until I tried out the sound. It was horrible. the Dolby Control Center was working but there were only two speakers available. With the sound expander and natural bass it sounded even worse, probably because it wasn't working with all 4 speakers. Not sure tho. I definitely get a great deal of bass from the woofer, probably what's wrong is that the Dolby Control Center doesn't work so well on 7.The sound just sucks when the Dolby features are enabled.
As for the speaker configuration, the only setup I have available is Stereo, no Surround or 4 speaker option. I could have sworn there was a 4 speaker choice on Vista. Also, I remember there was another program that came with Vista that's not included in 7, I think it was Sound Max or soemthing like that. It was a small tool to enhance the bass and treble besides the one from Dolby.

No, not without upgrading to a higher version of the Mac OS. However, the easiest thing to do is get another browser for use with sites that don't like older versions of Saari. I always have a secondary browser on any computer, Mac or PC. For our Macs, I install FireFiox alongside Safari when setting up a new computer.
As FireFox is updated sometimes weekly, YouTube should not have a problem with it.

Lion is Not compatible with PPC (Power PC) based software, such as your older version of PhotoShop. Your choices are you can either upgrade to the newer version of PhotoShop, or you can backup your data and apps, erase your harddrive and reinstall Snow Leopard.

New MacPro 10.9.4 included Keynote. Worked fine. An update was released August 21. Just downloaded the 6.2.2 update and now get error message "You can't open the application because PowerPC applications are no longer supported". Any ideas?

Nothing else has changed. No issues with recent iMovie, Pages or Numbers updates. Any ideas?

I tested this:
Reinstalled Aperture 3.1 from the Trial Installer.
In some way it seems to be working. But the whole thing is a scary Chimera.
It can create an Aperture library. I can import and edit images, even in Graphic Converter ias an external editor.
But the Media Browser does not show the aperture Library that I created.
The versioning is inconsistent. The library appears as an Aperture 3.4 library in the Finder. Aperture 3.5 seems to be able to read this library and to upgrade it to 3.5
The Applications folder is showing the application as version 3.4 and as compatible. Spotlight is showing it as illegal.
When opening the chimera Aperture, I see plenty of warnings in the Console window:
An Aperture "Hang" report
xpcproxy assertion failed
com.apple.IconServiceAgent: main failed to composite image
quicklookd: Warning
and more ... the hang was critical. I had to force quit Aperture more than once.
So be careful. I would not trust any important Aperture library to this patched application, without testing thoroughly. Be careful with your precious photos.

A couple of things you could try that may work. Launch Image Capture in the Applications folder and see if that recognises your scanner. If that draws a blank, you could try downloading VueScan from www.hamrick.com and see if that works. If does, you'll need to buy a licence to make it fully functional.

Not quite true. iDVD IS compatible with Lion, but does not Come with Lion. I have a fully updated version of Lion 10.7.4 and I installed a previous copy of iDVD from backup of Snow Leopard, and iDVD works fine. You just need to find a copy of it in iLife 11 or somewhere.
