Harmonium and Tabla Software instrument availability anywhere?

Hi,
Wondering if anyone knows a product that contains the Indian Harmonium or Indian Tabla drums as software instruments. Doesn't look like the World Music Jam Pack has either.
Jay

You can get an Indian harmonium, for GB £6, from Steve Levine, provided you know how to handle exs|24 sampler instruments in GB...
http://www.SteveLevine.co.uk/downloads/samples/
It's a 34-note [C1 ~ D4] hand-vented harmonium, meticulously retuned, and obviously not multi-sampled... The 44.1 KHz 16-bit samples are well-balanced over a five-octave range. Duration exceeds 12 seconds for most notes — some of them are even 18-second long — and moreover, they're all looped, albeit somewhat imperfectly. You can tell it's a work of love, and a bang for the buck.

  • Are the Photobooth and Front Row icons available anywhere

I was just wondering if the .png icons of Photobooth and Front Row where available anywhere. Wasn't sure if the new iMacs shiped yet. If they have, could someone go into the apps's package contents and host the .pngs using imageshack.com? Trying out some Photoshop effects for one of my classes.

    Does anyone know?

  • Unable to hear and record software instruments

I can only hear and record my Korg TR Music Workstation instruments. How can I hear/record the software instruments (from Logic Express 9, Garage Band/Jam Packs)? I have my Korg connected to the computer through an M-Audio recording interface.

    You can hear them by:
    1. Making sure your midi input is functioning   (see a little movement in the transport box)
    2. Selecting a virtual instrument in the box just above the 'out' box above the track volume slider
    3. Play the chosen instrument from midi keyboard,   or draw a region, open,   play vertical keyboard on Left side with mouse.
I hope you don't really try to record instruments in the Jam Packs because they're not instruments.
As far as I know , they're loops.

  • How to add drums and other software instruments

i recorded a pretty sweet jazz track with my guitar and thought that it would be even sweeter if it had some awesome drums with the brushes, but cannot figure out how to apply software instruments, for like the background, to me already recorded guitar track.

    Hi bluesman...
I thought I'd reply to this before you end up ditching this forum due to either lack of replies and possibly the odd post that just says "read the manual" with a bit of the requisite lampooning that can go with it.
Your post strongly suggests you are very new to Logic, and audio recording/sequencing software generally. There is no harm in indicating this in your post as it will help others to pitch their solutions to you.
Your question is of a very basic and general nature and is covered in depth in the user manual which can be found under the help menu.
You will find other users slow to answer this question for you given that it is covered in depth in the manual - users on the forum aren't inclined generally to offer online tutorials - its a bit like asking someone to rewrite the manual for you...
What we are very glad to do is offer specific advice about a particular problem... this means - let us know what you are trying to do to solve the problem already... saying "I can't use software instruments" doesn't help us to help you. Have you read the manual? What do you already understand?
I realise terminology etc. can be difficult for a newcomer - my advice given the limited info you have provided - look at the manual if you haven't already; buy a Logic tutorial book or DVD (search the forum for good reccomendations); and avoid the use of the word "awesome" in your posts!
I wish you the best of luck in your endeavours.

  • NetBeans and other software not available in the main solaris repository.

In the main(default) Solaris 11 Express repository we cannot find NetBeans and other software we could find in OpenSolaris in the extras repository, for example.Reading Solaris 11 Express release notes I find the main solaris repository and the support(for security and bug updates) repository,no other.Do we need to download directly in the NetBeans website,OpenOffice website etc.etc.,or are there any other repositories I did not see.

I just wrote an blog entry based on this question - http://blogs.sun.com/observatory/entry/left_behind. Bottom line, you can either download the software directly or add the opensolaris.org repository and get the IPS version.

  • How do I record voice and hear software instrument track track

I have created a track with my Roland XP as a software instrument.  Now I want to create a track while singing.  I chose audio track, pluged in my microphone, set the metronome, pushed record...... but can't hear the instrument track or metronome so I can sing with that track.  What am I doing wrong?

  • How can I record a microphone and software instrument at the same time in Garageband 10.0.1?  It seems I can record one or the other, but not both at the same time?

I am trying to record a vocal mic and a keyboard (using a software instrument) at the same time using Garageband 10.0.1.  It seems that I can't record the mic input and the software instrument at the same time.  I can record the mic input by itself, and I can record the software instrument by itself (if I don't have a mic input track created), but I can't record them together.
It seems like this should be an obvious thing to be able to do, but I can't figure out how to make it work.
    Can someone help?
    Thanks,
    Kurt

you need to "record enable" both tracks:

  • Live Recording with mics and Software Instruments

Has anyone used the Software Instruments in GB to play live, while recording the Software Instruments direct and live (Real Instruments) as well?
I'm thinking about getting a FirePod or similar, to record my band live using several mics and playing and recording Software Instruments all at once. I'm concerned that this set up might have too much latency and make the Software Instruments not playable with my band live, and perhaps all this might make my iMac G5 bog down.
Anyone have any experiences with any or all of this kind of use of GarageBand with an audio/MIDI interface?
    iMac G5 20"   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hey Hang,
Sorry if I'm talking in circles. That post was early!
I'd like to be able to use the built-in Software Instruments live and record that MIDI as well as the live tracks at the same time. However, I could deal with using my own keyboards for the live sounds and just record the MIDI from them while recording the live tracks too, if that makes the system work. For instance, if the part I wanted was a piano, and the Software Instrument piano used too much processor power, I could "record" with a smaller instrument that wasn't such a hog. Then, in mixing, I'd use the Software Instrument I wanted for the keyboard part. Live, my real keyboard could provide the piano for all to hear.
    Am I making sense yet?
I suppose one thing I could do is something I was thinking of doing already. I could get one of the $40 MIDI-to-USB interfaces to record with the band. Right now, I'm just using a stereo mic set up to record stereo into GB. I could add MIDI and see what happens. Heck, I could enable 6 more real instrument tracks at the same time and see what happens! Then I would know it was possible on the iMac at least.

  • In Logic Pro 9, how many midi controlled software instruments do you get...?

In Logic Pro 9, how many midi controlled software instruments do you get and is there possibility to download more as it says 40 on the programs info on the Mac Store, as i intend to compose on it but with only 40 instruments it's not really worth it.
So i was just wondering whether it let you download more for free.
    Thanks for reading
    ~Matt

Yes: I too am interested in the software instruments available in Logic Pro: one has to be a bit wary of the jam packs because there don't seem to be many solo instruments included. But I looked at the Logic screen in an Apple store the other day, and it worked like GarageBand in
this respect: you created a new track choosing the software instrument option and a whole lot of instruments came
up in a column on the right: lots of solo wind instruments, plenty of keyboards and guitars of course and not very many solo strings, only one violin, in the world music subsection under Irish fiddle. Yehudi Menuhin
where are you when we need you?
What I've been trying to find out is which part of the purchase does this long list of software instruments arrive with, because it's basically the only reason
I'm interested - I get on fine with gb but it
Just hasn't got enough instruments, and as I say the jam packs don't seem
to resolve this ? Or do they? Could someone please help
    me with this?

  • Bug in SURROUND when instnciating new SOFTWARE INSTRUMENT?

    Hi all
    Is this a bug?
This only seems to appear after mix is up to say a dozen tracks.
Whilst working in SURROUND ... I have some audio and some software instrument tracks running ... instanciate a new EX24 or KONTAKT 3 by choosing NEW TRACK with a key command ...... choose NEW SOFTWARE INSTRUMENT .... when you've opened the new instrument, everything in the mix is shunted over toward the left hand side of the room.
There's no apparent way to get the mix back to where it was so you have REVERT TO SAVED?
    Best
    Dick

If so, don't.....   Use the New Project command instead
at the startup of the song it creates 5 busses......
using Empty project....... Every new SI.... same issue
It may be you have created a template, or are using one.. that includes those busses....
I do use a template song with some busses, but it creates 2 new if I create a new Software Instrument.
    I don't understand this behavior.......
This issue occurs using the command New Software  Instrument tracks, and not creating New Audio Tracks
The unique way to avoid this for me is to copy a SI in the Environment and then change its Inst channel....

  • How to convert a software instrument recording to an audio recording? Logic pro X

Hey I'm having serious trouble converting a software instrument recording to an audio recording. I'm trying to record this drum beat, then convert it to an audio file so i can chop it up and sample it on the EXS24. could anyone possibly provide any helpful insight to my dilema? Thank you very much!

im sorry i should've clarified a little further. it is on the drum machine feature in Logic pro X. i want to sample  the 808 kick so i can change the pitch of it in the exs24 but whenever i go to "bounce in place" this message pops up:
""Bounce Regions" in Place can only process regions on audio tracks and/or software instrument tracks. Click      “OK” to deselect all regions on other tracks and continue."
do you have any answers to this specifically?

  • 3rd party software Instruments and pluggins for logic ???

I know logic has lots of software instruments and pluggins. What would be some good 3rd party instruments and pluggins to enhance the working and creative vibe? I know Spectrasonics has some good ones !!!!!!
    RD

    Rodney,
I think it really depends on what type of music you do.... But as you already mentioned, Spectrosonics stuff would certainly be at the top of my list.
RMX is practically a must have, as far as I'm concerned, and if you have Recycle, it IS a must have. Same with Atmosphere... I couldn't work without either one now.
Trilogy is really good to, but I wouldn't say it's a "must have". Still, it gets used a lot here.
I really like Arturia's synths as well, but customer service there has a lot to be desired. But the Vintage pack will certainly cover a lot of analog ground, and the Mini Moog is simply amazing.
There are a lot of sample libraries available in Native EXS format, but EXS reads Giga and Akai libraries as well, and if you got something like CD Xtract, you could translate even more formats.
Native Instruments makes some nice stuff as well.
As far as plug-ins, my absolute favorite are the UAD-1 plug-ins. But that requires the PCI card. Best money I ever spent though, hands down.
Here are a few other companies that make excellent plug-ins as well:

Believe me, that's just the tip of the iceberg...
