Harmonize lead vocal Routing Midi with Antares Harmony Engine Evo

After a long day researching and NOT getting the job done... I need correct midi routing instructions to get Antares Harmony Engine Evo to play 2 different midi harmony tracks: i.e., one on track 7 and one on track 8 wince I couldn't get any of the 'great' harmony presets to work at all. I need explicit instructions on what to click on and where it is without leaving out assumed steps. Thanks!

Adding this: PLEASE and THANK YOU... anybody who knows anything. I've read manuals, searched the net, etc., instructions are not clear or non-existent with many posts saying 'I can't get this function to work!' to no avail so far. I've round no video tutorials. One post suggested 'side chain' as in the Antares Pitch Correct but there is NO side chain menu on my Harmony Engine, and FYI, it disappeared on my APC, from time to time. What's going on here? I'd like to have these harmonies on for Christmas gift. I tried transposing the lead vocal track and ! 'no transpose function' would show up in the usual place. Now I'm trying the midi routing since the harmony engine's default patches didn't work. I've set every knob and button including voice register, i.e. 'soprano' in this case, etc. following the small manual. There's got to be a way as this program has won many awards, so someone is getting it to work. Please RSVP... Thank you and happy holidays!

Has anyone tried antares harmony engine with garageband or even know if you can use it with garageband 08 ? I'm new to garageband and thought about trying it but, can't find a lot of info. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much for your reply this got me moving in the right direction but I have a slight revision to your instructions in Mainstage 3:
1/ Click the "+" to Create a new Instrument (in the pulldown menu in the dialog that follows select the MIDI keyboard you want to trigger the note events just like you would with one of the internal instruments)
2/ On the INPUT of the channel strip that was created Select AU MIDI-controlled Effects/Antares/Harmony Engine/mono (or stereo) in the I/O pop-up menu, where you usually select an instrument plugin (it will NOT be an insert effect!). You will not find the plug-in in AU Instrument submenu: go instead to the AU MIDI-controlled Effects at the very bottom of the pop-up window.
3/ Open the installed plug-in window.
4/ In the Side Chain pop-up (upper right corner of the Harmony Engine window) select the source audio track you want to process. Set the Harmony Source parameter to Chord via MIDI or MIDI Omni.
5/ Balance the source audio track to harmonies using the faders in the Harmony Engine. I prefer to use a mic splitter to send my dry mic to the house mixer as well as the computer as a source. I then turn down the source input mix on the harmonizer. This allows the house sound guy to ride the lead vocal and the harmonies are mixed with my keyboard patches
Whenever you play a note / interval / chord on your MIDI keyboard, the plugin will create the equivalent voice(s).
Don't exceed the maximum of 4 notes in a chord, as you can't create more voices - additional MIDI notes could bring confusing results.

Set up midi notes input for plugin like Harmony engine evo

Hi!
Can anyone tell me how to set up for midi notes input to a plugin. Lets say you have a keyboard that sends notes info and it works fine to run an instrument in a instrument channel with it. Now, if you want to send this notes to a audio plugin like Harmony engine Evo from Antares that resides in a audio channel, how do you do it? It seems like the only midi you can get thru is controller messenges and thats not of any help to create harmonies from midi chord.

I think this is the standard chat about getting those tracks in the autoload to get the instrument to sound, as in getting the QT instruments to sound when they play MIDI on those tracks...
For those who posted.. A couple of tips -
1) Read the manual about audio instruments
2) Check out David's thread called Troubleshooting tips for new users or something like that. I'm sure he will correct me.
If you still can't get it to happen, let us know. In general, the Logic EXS sounds will be better that the QT sounds, so you might as well ignore them really.

Best way to create nice, wide vocals from a 2 part harmony?

I know there's no "best" way. But I have a chorus line I've written with a two part harmony. I want it to sound wide and full. What's a good approach to take right now. How many passes of each vocal line should I record? What approach should I take with panning all the parts? And, how might I possibly the whole vocal mix fill a wide frequency range?
I've tried a LOT of things but I feel like I'm wandering in the dark because I'm quite novice when it comes to mixing vocals (besides having 2 part vocals where both takes are basically EQd the same but jut panned differently). It's time I break outside of the box!

This is where you get to choose, as mix engineer/producer. No matter how many tracks we put down, comp, mult etc, there comes a time to make decisions.
What is more important, more prominent, aids the song in it's entirety. Basically, you're talking about overlapping frequencies. So where the vocals and the synths are together in your chorus you are getting a lot of frequencies in one range.... lets say the lower mids (always a tricky area) 200 - 300Hz.
You have two basic tools instantly to hand. Volume and frequency. I am simplifying. You can get your levels in the right ballpark (of course you can fine tune with volume automation) and you can tailor with EQ. If there is too much 250hz in the chorus, you need to cut something. One thing makes room for another thing. What this thing is, is entirely up to you. There are no rules for this. If all your sources in the chorus cover the whole frequency spectrum and the whole stereo field you are going to have to decide.
In one song I mixed recently, the lead vocal was doubled. The intro was sung over a fairly clean picked guitar. I had the two vocals panned just narrow of 9 and 3 o clock. When the verse burst in there are 14 distorted guitars filling the stereo spectrum from hard panned left and right to about 10 and 2 o clock positions. I automated the vocal to become much narrower, 5 points either side of centre for this part of the song. It doesn't sound odd on playback or as drastic as you may think. What it does is make room for these massive guitars and it worked well on this particular song. What it also did was make room for the odd backing vocal that sporadically appear in the song.
So in this case it was making room on the stereo spread that helped the mix and no eq was changed. That was my decision.
So basically, if there's too much of everything you need to turn something down or move it out of the way. This can be in frequency, volume or stereo field.

Trying to get a 3rd Party Router working with BT I...

I'm trying to move away from the HHub5 on our FTTC BT Infinity connection (40Mb/s). Eventually I settled on a TP-Link WDR 3600 N600 - the flavour which is happy to talk to cable modems and take an OpenWRT install.
So far I've hooked up a BT OpenReach "white box" modem using the HHub's RJ11 lead, going from the DSL filter into the OpenReach modem's DSL socket. The modem's DSL LED lights up solid green - which I presume is good? The TP-Link router is up & running fine with OpenWRT installed, I can connect to it over WiFi and I've hooked up its WAN connection to the OpenReach modem's LAN1 socket (LAN2 is blanked out).
But whatever I put in the router's PPPoE settings I just can't get an internet connection to come up. So far I've used '[email protected] (as it's set on the HHub) and a few other suggestions from the forums including 'anything you like' @btinternet.com and @btbroadband.com - nothing seems to get the connection going.
Is there something I've missed or can anyone suggest a solution?

Sorry to answer my own question, but in case it helps anyone in the future:
I had to put my username in the username AND password fields - same details in both. I've not seen this written anywhere online, everyone says to leave the password field blank as it's unused.
So to recap - this is what got my TP-LINK WDR3600 (OpenWRT based) router working with Infinity: stick [email protected] in the PPPoE usernamd AND password fields.

BTW Apparently @Telia_service had routing problems on both the latest iOS and ... DNS problem and we are working with Akamai for a sollution to this problem

Routing Issue with 3550

I am having a routing issue with a 3550 switch. I have 5 vlans and I need one of the vlans to access a different router based on destination IP rather than our edge router. I have entered a static route on the 3550 that points to the secondary router whenever a certain network is tried to be accessed. My problem is I can't seem to get the traffic to flow correctly. When I trace route an address on the Internet the path shows as expected, the 3550 then my firewall then my edge router. When I trace an address that is on the other side of the secondary router I get the 3550 as the first hop, then nothing. I can ping the address so I know the path is up. What could be the issue? in addition to Mahmood´s post, what do you have defined as the next hop for the default route to the secondary router ? If you use an interface on the 3550 as the next hop, make sure that whatever is connected is in the same subnet, otherwise use the IP address of the next hop. So, let´s say your remote network is 192.168.1.0, and the secondary router is connected to FastEthernet0/1, your default route should look like this if the secondary router is in the same subnet (in this example, the IP address of the secondary router would be 172.16.1.2):
interface FastEthernet0/1
no switchport
ip address 172.16.1.1 255.255.255.252
ip route 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255 FastEthernet0/0
Otherwise, try:
ip route 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255 172.16.1.2
where 172.16.1.2 would be the address of the secondary router.
Does that make sense ?

How to use Apple TV with Logitech Harmony remote WITHOUT having to unpair?

I have a Logitech Harmony 880 remote which I am trying to set up with my new Apple TV.
Within the Logitech software I set up Apple TV as a MediaCenter PC device.
I've followed these instructions already.

The Harmony remote works great with the Apple TV if I follow these instructions to unpair the remote EVERY time I want to use it. Once I turn the TV off or switch to another activity, it loses this setting and I have to unpair again when I go back to Apple TV.
I would like to be able to use my Harmony Remote without having to unpair constantly.
I have tried to pair the Apple TV with the Harmony remote. This only served to render my Apple Remote nonfunctional and I still have to unpair every time.
I tried to use the Harmony remote's IR learning mode directly with my Apple Remote instead of using the settings from the database. I still have to unpair every time.
I tried to go into the Apple TV > Settings > General > Remote and have Apple TV learn my remote's IR. There are instructions to hold down each button until a progress bar is full. The first button is the up arrow. The progress bar never activates when I push the up arrow on my Logitech Harmony remote although I know the Apple TV is somewhat recognizing the button press because I hear an auditory beep and see the led light on the front of the Apple TV flash when I push the button. None of the arrow buttons of the Harmony remote would activate the on screen progress bar although some buttons such as the Volume buttons would.
At this point, I resigned myself to having to unpair every time I accessed my Apple TV so I thought I would get smart and program the unpair button to show up as one of the additional buttons on the lcd screen of the Harmony Remote when I start the Apple TV activity. I'm sure by now you can see where this is going. My attempts to outsmart my advanced technological devices failed dismally as it seems the unpair option of the Harmony remote will only function correctly if I first press the Devices button and then choose the Apple TV.
I was wondering if anyone had gotten a Logitech Harmony remote to work successfully with the new Apple TV without having to use the unpair command every time and if so, what did you do to resolve this issue?

I'm having the same issue except that I set up the Apple TV as a Media PC on my Harmony 770 and that gave me the unpair addition button that actually works. Per your idea, I've been using that to gain functionality of my Apple TV 3 from the Harmony remote.
However that's just a workaround. I've gone a step further and learned the raw commands and it still won't work. This makes me think the issue is on the Apple TV refusing to recognize the remote unless you press "unpair" everytime.
Is anyone else having this issue on the current Apple TV 3 firmware?

I've confirmed the mac address is included on that list and that the password is correct. Under choses netwrok I select the network and it just goes into a spin. I have tried removing the password and the access list settings and it still will not complete the connection to the router thus no internet access. The routers firmware is also up to date. This thing worked fine before this update and I've already tried to restore from backup. Any ideas or is the wifi nic bad in this thing with the new apple firmware update? Any fix?

I recently bought a WRT54G wireless router along with a WUSB54GC compact wireless adapter and set up both products as directed.I get a message saying connected to the access point but cannot find internet. While connecting to my internet directly,(using a fiber optic cable with no modem necessary)it connects to the internet however using the modem,wired or wireless it still gets the same error. I am not computer literate,so i don't understand abbreviations or where to go to input information into certain areas,so if anyone could help me with step by step information I would be very grateful. For the iPad, click on Support in the upper right part of the screen, then manuals, and the iPad group of products and then the user guide will be listed for download.
For your router, if it is not an Apple product, you will have to do an internet search through Google for the brand and model. If an Apple router, as with the iPad, Support > Manuals > Peripherals > AirPort

You cannot wireless bridge Apple to non-apple router.. so that is out.
The only way you can do this is run ethernet or EOP adapters.. and place the TC in a location where the other apple idevices can reach it.
If you want to repeat wireless with apple routers you have to use another apple router next to the modem.. plugged in an running as an AP.
Basically the TC is the wrong piece of equipment unless you want Time Machine backups.. take it back and buy a universal repeater.. not apple. Or buy more apple stuff like an extreme or express.. one apple router is useless to you without running ethernet.

Well there is No router which linksys/cisco manufacture that can stop the wireless signals to be broadcast for a specific time..
However what you can do is you can get into the setup interface of the router and disable the SSID broadcast and that will stop the router to broadcast the wireless signals...and whenever you need to enable it you can just go back into the setup page of the router and enable the broadcast again.
