Harmonizes on BOM's materials

Hello PP expert,
My company doing some graphite electrode manufacturing, currently my plant get supply HALB materials from different plants, unfortunately their are all having their own material numbers, eventhough we can identify it as same material.
In the way we need to build different BOMs for the same FERT material. Now my planner has problem in MRP and it will defaulted Alternative BOM1only and genearate planned orders, eventhough the alternative BOM still existing some stocks can use.
assuming that we need to retain this current material master & BOM design, what is the solution you can advise to rectify this
issue and maximise the BOM material usage ?
how's the production version can help on this issue ?

BOM Exlposion for Assembly Materials

Dear Friends,
I want function module to be explode the BOM for Materials which are Having checked by Assebmly(Field is STLKZ) .I am able to explode the BOM which are Having Phatum Indicator using CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2 which is having DUMPS(Phantun Indicator) .I need to find out the Assembly Indicator .
Pls Help me How to Find out Assemble Indicator for Materials.

You can pass the component material to the table MAST. If any value exists against the component number than this material has Assembly indicator active.
Another option is when using the FM CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2 . Check if table STB(Structure-Stpox) with field XTLTY(BOM Category) is equal to type 'M'.The passing condition will give Assembly indicator.

Packing materials in Production BOM

Hi frndz,
In the production BOM, packing materials are not maintained. So if we have to maintain these packing materials, then where to maintain them?

1) it all depends on Business Scenario , if they want to maintain in BOM , then maintain in BOM
2) if ur mainating in BOM, then reservations are created against Prd order & issue will happen
if u don't want to mainatin in BOM, then just refer this thread

Assembly Item in BOM

Dear Gurus
How to remove the assembly item from a BOM?
Suppose i have a BOM for materials A,B,C,D. A consists of A1,A2,A3.
now if i want to remove A3 from the BOM, How would i do it?

Hi,
There are two possibilities in your case. whether it is permanent deletion or temporary deletion of item A3.
1. If you want to delete permanently item A3 from BOM of A. Then go to transaction CS02 & from component list select A3 & delete it. This will change your master data for BOM A, permanently.
2. If you want to delete item A3 for particular production order, ( temporary delete), go to the transaction CO02, go to the component details screen. From there select the material A3 & delete this. This will be temporary deletion for particular production order. From next order onwards, you can continue with all BOM components A1,A2 & A3.

How to find 'Assembly' indicator in a BOM explosion FM

Hi experts,
I need a function module to explode BOM for Materials which are having checked by Assebmly indicator.
I tried fm : CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2. But i didnt find a field for this indicator.
Can any of you tell me how to find weather 'Assembly' indicator of a material is checked, using a FM.

Hi,
U can find it in another way by using Table MARC,
if the value of SOBSL field is 50 in MARC then its an assembly.

Function module needed to read all the BOM statuses

Dear Friends,
In a report we are using CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2 function module to get the dispaly the BOMs. But it is displaying only the BOMs which are in Active stauts e.g 1 & 3.
My requirement is needs to read both active and inactive BOMs. Inactive BOM status is 2.
suggest me if there is any another FM or any another way to get all the BOM status materials.

You need to supply another application for alternative determination (field CAPID). It should be possible to customize one for your needs using "Define Order of Priority for BOM Usages" and "Define Applications" under "Production->Basic Data->Bill of Material->Alternative Determination"

I need to fetch some data related to BOM and PM Assembly and display in ALV, where I want to use FM, but Im not sure which FM I can use as there are many FMs when i searched in SE37, Im giving the list of required output please give me name of FM or guide me how can I find appropriate FM:
1-Materials assigned to BOM
2-Materials not assigned to BOM
3-Functional Location and equipment BOM
4-PM assemblies with out materials assigned
5-PM assemblies with materials assigned
6-PM assy not assigned to FL, Equipment or Task list
7-PM assy assigned to FL or Equipment
8-PM assy assigned to Task lists
9-All PM assy

Can you please let me know how can i find a RELEVANT funtion module, in the sence, now i want to find function module for Functional Location and Task List so which function group i should check?

BOM release procedure

dear expert:
ours is Aapparel industry. as per our business scenerio merchandisers are creating their BOM against finish materials which is 150 to 200 in no. there are 3 to 4 merchandisers under one team leader. and the team leader is responsible to check the BOM consumption successively and sign it as approval. In SAP we need to configure the same so that after creating BOM by different merchandisers it will wait for approval as a list which is subject to checking by key points by their team leader. is there any solution like this. or how can i configure the same please suggest

Your Team leader could mass change BOM header status in Engineering Workbench tcode : CEWB.
Here select working Area as : SAP_BOM (Focus : BOM header). Various selection options are availble on the screen.
Say enter plant, BOm status = Non Active. Next Hit Load Boms & tasklist icon
Then all Bom's in required plant that have inactive status will be loaded on screen.
Next select the BOm header materials that need status change. Also select the column that needs change (BOM status).
Next Select on MEnu screen Extras --> Mass Change
Enter new value : Active status
Finally Execute the change and save the work list.
Please follow each of the above steps to update all the Inactive Bom's with Active status.
I know this is not the easy way to execute this (unlike ME28) but it does the work on mass changing BOm status on large number of materials. Hope this helps you provide good solution to your customer.

Error in change number creating BOM in Engineering Type.

Can anyone guys help me with my problem.
I'm creating Bom using BAPI_MATERIAL_BOM_GROUP_CREATE.
Every time I create BOM Using one bom only in engineering and all BOM for materials were created.
But every time i create rerun the program and have different change number on its components, the error occur,
"Generation not Supported for Change number"

Component and its BOM list

Hi ,
Where can we see the list of BOM header materials in which a given material is a component.
Ex:- If component 'XYZ' is of material type - ROH or HALB. If the component 'XYZ' is used in different BOMs. Where can we see these list of BOMs in which component 'XYZ' is used?.

Goto CS15/CS14-BOM Where used List .
Execute CS15-Here if you are useing various BOM , then mark the Used in option ( Material , WBS, Order , Documents BOM) and Mark Type of Where used list as Direct and then Goto next page ( hit the Arrow ) -Give the Required qty , Plant Code , Usage -PRD means 1 an Universal means 3 from selection menu and finally hit Execute .It will list down all the qty , header items and relevent information as per your requirement .

Mass Delete of Alternative BOM

Hi Jasmin,
First of all,
in Tcode CS28 give variant name and then click on Maintain and then go to next screen.
In archive variant You need to specify following things by selecting appropriate button :
1.Control Parameters
2.Selection Type
3.BOM Categories for Archiving ( Material BOM, Equipment BOM etc)
4.Additional Restrictions to the Archived BOMs
Then you need to save above settings for variant and then excute the same. So you will be able Archive the BOM as per your requirement ( With / Without Deleting BOMs).

How to Create Fixed Bom using BAPI

Hi all,
Iam using the BAPI "BAPI_BOM_UPLOAD_SAVE" for creation of Fixed BOM of Materials.
I don't know how that is used,I mean i don't know the inputs,
Pls can any one Provide me TEST DATA for this Bapi.
or a sample Program how fixed bom is created.and how can we know thet bom has been created.
for e.g if we create super bom ,the Bom links are stored in cs41,so we are able to know super bom has been created but how to check for fixed bom.is that the same for fixed also.
i have some inputs and with that inputs ,BOM is not being created and the BAPI return table type was E.

The FM BAPI_BOM_UPLOAD_SAVE is using CSAP_MAT_BOM_CREATE to create the BOM but it does not have any option to specify the alternative to be created.Look for some other FM if you need to create an alternative BOM.Check if the FM BAPI_MATERIAL_BOM_GROUP_CREATE can be used as an alternative
also check this FM.
CS_BI_BOM_CREATE_BATCH_INPUT1 - Create a new BOM or New Alt. BOM.
CS_BC_BOM_CHANGE_BATCH_INPUT - Maintain the BOM.

Material ledger- pipeline materials actual costing

Dear all,
I am having problem with pipeline materials not being included in multilevel actual BOM in Material ledger actual costing. My client need information about actual quantity of pipeline material (natural gas) being consumed in multilevel production. I am not sure if pipeline materials are subject to actual costing/material ledger. Actual cost component is showing the amount of costs of natural gas, but in multilevel BOM, pipeline materials are not included. Am I right about this?

How to remove the Variant BOM?

Dear All,
I am currently having the variant BOM. I need to create alternative BOM for all the BOM headers.
I cannot create it till i remove the variant bom tag from the BOM headers.
Kindly let me know the procedure to remove the Variant BOM tag from the BOM header materials.

Hi,
As you have already maintained alternative BOM for materials system will not allow you to create variant BOM as already alternative BOM is present for the same.
So you need to delete all alternative BOM for required materials. Then you can create variant BOM for those materials.
You can delete BOM's on mass basis also. Use CS28 for the same.
