Harrison Mixbus and Logic 9

Hi there,
I have just purchased Mixbus and am trying to configure it on conjunction with Logic 9 and Jackpilot.
So far I have had no luck despite trying things I have found on other forums.
I basically want to monitor logic through mixbus without having to bounce stems.
Can anyone give me a hand on what the procedures are to achieve this please?
Help would be most appreciated!
Cheers,

I don't have Logic to give you much help in, and you might need to email me as I don't go to this forum much, but the basics that others are doing is...
You create additional busses in Mixbus for each stem you are exporting to Mixbus. You then set Logic to use JackRouter as the audio device, and set the output for each 'stem' to an output in Jack, and route in JackPilot or Mixbus from the Logic output to your busses you created in Mixbus(Not the mixbusses themselves). You then route as normal in Mixbus however you wish, and if you want a route going back into Logic for monitoring or whatever, you would then edit the Output routing of Mixbus's Master Bus so that it is going into Logic, routing in Logic as appropriate.
Think of Jack as a giant patchbay in this configuration. You need to plug Logic into the patchbay, then route within the patchbay between Logic and Mixbus. When you create additional busses in Mixbus, it automatically plugs those busses into the patchbay as well to ease things for you but until you route anything into them, they obviously won't get audio.

    >>Mmm.. I did have a try with that today and eventually got it to work (sending from Logic to Mixbus) using the Jack Pilot application, I think I must have something wrong because it doesn't sound good, though - not terrible, but not right - I'm only using an Apogee One anyway at the moment, so I can't do anything other than a one channel thing. I'll have another try anyway, its all a bit unfamiliar to me at the moment - I saved the configuration that I had in Jack Pilot, so I'll go back to that and take it from there.
To be honest, I'm thinking about it in a different way - maybe take stuff into Mixbus just to mix or even do sub-mixes (I do quite a lot of that kind of thing to build a whole piece of music), so there are ideas there to explore for me.<<
Strange, because of all the quirks one meets when setting up the trio Logic - JackPilot - Mixbus, one fact stands: It sounds phenomenal ! A true revelation for me anyway……..
I'm able to use it exactly as intended. Logics play back is routed to the Mixbus for monitoring and the transport controlled via MMC also from the Mixbus.

As mentioned, I've loaded a song from a session I did 3 or 4 years ago, probably recorded using Logic 8.02. I did all the mic setup, direct boxes, baffles...etc, plus played guitar (hate doing that while trying to keep everything else straight.)
A couple of weeks later I started to mix some of the tracks.. and was thinking I didn't do a very good job with mic placement on the drums...all of the tracks, including vocal needed EQ help.
Loaded into MixBus and I'm hearing something totally different.. the drums sound good, especially the cymbals. I think I was hearing some phasing in Logic I couldn't seem to get rid of... it's not present now, and these are raw tracks with no eq. I've also been experimenting with the vocal track using only the supplied Mixbus reverb effect as well as channel compression and EQ.
Problem is I'm slow on it and don't know if it can come close to the type of editing I'm used to.. but the sound, pleasingly different.  depth, transparency, articulate..??

  • Logical Switch and Logical Network

Hello All...................I have Hyper-V Failover Cluster based on 5 Hosts and I am managing it with VMM 2012 R2. I was slightly confused with respect to Logical Network and Logical Switch in the Fabric Settings.  I would appreciate if someone could
shed a little light on the difference between them.  Also, while there is a Logical Network defined by default (Name of the Virtual Switch of Hosts), there is nothing defined in the Logical Switch.  Which one is mandatory? Logical Network or Logical
Switch? Can I delete the default Logical Network?

    Hi Nick,
Please find below link for the whitepaper mentioned by Kristian.
    https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Hybrid-Cloud-with-NVGRE-aa6e1e9a
For a complete reference please refer below series. This covers VMM 2012 SP1 but should be fine with R2 as well.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/scvmm/archive/2013/01/08/virtual-networking-in-vmm-2012-sp1.aspx
Logical Network is defined for easier management and used in Network Virtualization where as Logical switch is used to configure networking in multiple Hosts rather than creating individual Virtual switches in each host. If it were me I'll leave the
default logical network as there is no harm of doing nothing in it.
I hope this will shed some light into your situation.

  • Problems with Presonus Firestudio and Logic

I am having problems with compatability with my brand new Presonus Firestudio recording interface and Logic pro 8. I am new to logic but not to home recording, and i cant understand what might be the problem. When i use the firestudio with garageband it works easily. In the garageband sound preferences there are input AND output channels that the user can define. (i.e. you can set your input channels to come from the firestudio while the output channels go to the computer speakers or headphone jacks or whatever you define it as).
From what i have seen in logic, there is only one option for your audio settings. when in preferences and under audio, there is a "device" setting in which you can define your audio device. Wheather this is input AND output for the program, i do not know. but the problem i am experiencing is that whenever i choose the firepod as the input device, no sound from logic will play from the speakers whatsoever. My first thought was that maybe ouput was going straight to the firestudio, but after plugging headphones into it this also did not work. Has anyone had success getting their firestudio to work in logic? if so let me know what settings you had to use, and how you got to moniter your input from from the firestudio via your computer.
    p.s.
another WIERD problem i have run into, is that if i shut off the firestudio while logic is open, alot of times it will shut down my whole computer. i have never heard of this happening. what am i doing wrong?
    thanks!

ah, I was hoping to find my solution here, but alas the thread is gone...
I recently bought a Macbook running Leopard, and am having difficulties with my PreSonus Firestudio Project thru Logic and Mainstage. I can get audio input and output just fine, but there's a ton of distortion/crackle. Kickstarting the sample rate seems to clear it up for a minute or two, but then the crackle comes back. The recorded tracks sound clean if I unplug the Firestudio, so apparently it's only in the monitoring stage?
On the PreSonus board, they're claiming it's Apple who needs to update drivers for Leopard; PreSonus says the "Firestudio Project is Leopard compatible."

However, if I unplug and plug in the power cord it boots fine and everything is OK. The PMU and logic board have been reset. Sometimes my Mac goes on just by pressing the power on button but most times I have to pull the power cord and put it back in. Any ideas or help out there for this? Could it be a failing power supply? Apple Care says that this model is obsolete so there is no help from there. John

    Hi John,
That's often a sign of a bsad Capacitor in the Power Supply, but...
Might be time to replace the PRAM Battery, 4 years is close to their lifespan, far less if ever without AC power, & can cause strange startup problems...

    It's not crap at all.
It's not that simple. For example, I've 3500 songs on my MacBook but don't want them all on my phone, so I have to manually select each song again???
There has to be a solution.
Why not simply make a playlist with the songs you want on the iPhone?
and maintain a current backup of your computer.

my computer has been seen at Genius bar 6 times for freezing up, reloaded all original settings, all of their diagnostics, and they even sent it to the apple shop where they replaced the battery and logic board. Still freezes after I try to reload iTunes stuff and app stuff from apple, especially iPhoto which is seems to refuse to load and then begins freezing up all over again. Anyone else have this problem. Other than this, I have had absolutely no problems with this computer. Now, it's a file of junk.

    Hi Ronald ...
Have you checked lately to see how much free space there is on the disk? Especially since iPhoto freezes at launch ...
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.
And make sure the OS X software is up to date.
Click the Apple  top left in your screen.
From the drop down menu click:   Software Update
If you have anti virus software installed or are using third party Mac cleaning utiliites, that may be part and parcel of the your problems.

  • RFC and Logical System names

Hello......is it necessary to have RFC and Logical system name for the connected system to be identical? Is there any explanation behind this if thats true....

    Hi Gaurav,
It is recommended, but not mandatory, right, Muthuraman?
The system uses some transactions to determine which RFC will be used for the communication between one system and another, for example, in transaction 'Define backend systems' in SPRO, you can define that the current SRM client has an ECC backend system named X and the RFC destination for this X system is Y (not necessarily the same name).

  • RFC Destination and Logical System

    Hi Friends,
Can anybody tell me how the RFC Destination and Logical System are related to each other?

    Hi,
In any ALE scenario u need one sender and one receiver system.
Logical systems are just logical representation of these systems but in case of RFC destination u specify technical parameters for those systems like IP address and username and password to connect to that system.
Thus when u create port i.e.we21 u specify actual RFC destination for the system to which u want to connect and when u create partner profile for that logical system u specify this port so when u want  to send data to this logical system i.e receiver system port will be used which in turn has RFC destination which will be used to connect to that system.
In simple terms logical systems are logical representation of any system and RFC destinations are physical/techinical systems.
    Thanks.

  • Diffebetween Business system and Logical system...

what is the difference between Business system and Logical system...

    Hi
Business system is a logical layer needed for configuration in integration directory. On the other site technical system is physical representation of your technical landscape. In case of SAP technical systems you can have more than one business system relation. In that situation there is relation one client to one business system.
If your technical system changes, then you definitely need to point this new technical system to the existing Business system which has been used to do all the Configurations in the Integration Builder.

  • Business system and logical system names

    hello experts,
Right now m creating scenarios of IDOCs, Files and RFCs. Just wanted to know that is it compulsory to give Business system name and Logical system names same?
Does it make difference if i will give both names different?
    Regards,
    H.S.

    Hi,
I guess i have not explained you proprely.
Here logical system mean m asking abt the system name which we are using in RFC connections to make connection between two systems.
does Business system name and Logical system name should be same?
Actually right now we have done system copy of production system into our sandbox. So all the things are pointing to the production system.
I was just wondering, if i will just change ip/ hostname into the Technical system (ip of sandbox system) and keep business system name as it is( which is right now of production system)... then for me no need to create all ID Objects again. Its just an idea. So just wanted to check is it ok... bcz in ID i have more than 60 objects which i need to create again. and i have very less time
Or if anyone can tell me any good idea to do that.
    Thankx in advance.

  • Separation of the physical and logical structures

    Hi,
I am very new to Oracle database administration. While reading Sam Alapati's book "Expert Oracle9i Database Administration," I came across the concept of the separation of an Oracle database’s physical storage structures from its logical storage structures. In particular, Sam states the following in his book:
“This logical defining of Oracle's database structure has another fundamental motive behind it. By organizing space into logical structures and assigning these logical entities to users of the database, Oracle databases achieve the logical separation of users (owners of the database objects, such as tables) of the database from the physical manifestations of the database in terms of data files and so forth.”
I am not quite convinced about the value this separation of the physical and logical really adds to the task of database administration. Considering the way DBASE worked, i.e. each table used to be stored as a separate file, what would be lost if Oracle’s implementation were similar and each table (i.e. file) were to be assigned to a particular user. I am not sure of the value added by storing the data from more than one table in more than one file, effectively resulting in a many-to-many relationship between tables and files. Please enlighten me. I would really appreciate it.
    Karim

and each table were to be assigned to a particular user. Don't know what you mean. In Oracle, every table has one and only one owner.
I am not sure of the value added by storing the data from more than one table in more than one fileIf an application has a thousand tables, would you rather manage 1000 files or 1?
In general, separating the physical from the logical allows the physical structure to change without affecting the logical (in theory at least). Even a table is a logical structure. We think of rows and columns, but it isn't stored the way we think of it. When we do a select statement, we don't have to write code to read each block, extract the contents, etc.
With partitioned tables, it is sometimes a good idea to split up partitions in such a way to get a performance gain. Like placing the most recent (and most queried) month of data on the fastest storage device. If you stuffed everything in to one gigantic file, you would lose that ability.
If you want to store each table as a separate file, you can do that with Oracle. For each new table, create a new tablespace, and then create a new file for the tablespace. Then come back to this forum in a year and tell us how it's going.

  • Physical and Logical path

    Hello,
what is a physical file and logical file in PATH table of SAP.
    Plz help,
    aafaq

    Hi aafaqhusain,
    1. logical file path is nothing but a    IDENTIFIER/STRING/NAME
    = the name by which
       we refer to that file.
      (in our programs)
    2. The physical location of that file,
may change from server to server,
      or from time to time.
(hence, we do not use hardcoded physical path,
       in our programs,
but instead use this MAPPING of logical path,
      to the physical path)
