  • Change the Blu-Ray burn speed from within PRE9

I burned a 2 hour video to Blu-Ray last night from within PRE9, and it all turned out well. Except it took maybe 5 or 6 hours to burn (its 6x speed disc).
Is this to be expected? I don't see any settings for burning speed from within PRE9.
I burned a 2 hour test Blu-Ray the other day from within the software that the Blu-Ray burner came with (where you can adjust the burn speed), and I could swear it was much faster. But I don't want to waste another disc just to test this out.
    Thanks
    Greg

Unfortunately, PrE does not allow one to alter the Burn Speed. The "big brother," Encore has that capability.
In PrE, I suggest doing a Burn to Folder, and then the great, free burning utility, ImgBurn, which allows that adjustment. However, without extra software (virtual BD burner software), PrE does not allow BD Burn to Folder, at least not yet.
    Sorry for the bad news,

  • Blu Ray burn problem

I'm trying to burn a blu-ray disk from a 5 minute FCP X video.  Each time I try I get the following message:
The bit rate of the video file exceeded the maximum allowable.
How can I work around this?

What Blu-ray burner do you have? Is it recognized in the Device Manager under DVD/CD-ROM drives? Driver and Firmware up to date?
What burn software came with the Blu-ray burner? If it is part of the CyberLink family, can you use the PowerProducer of the series to burn to Blu-ray disc format on a Blu-ray disc using these Blu-ray discs that Premiere Elements burn dialog is labelling "Media Not Present"? I would like to see the results of that test if possible.
Just to get it out of the way (maybe helpful), let us flush the preferences...
Assuming your Premiere Elements 11 is on Windows 7 or 8 64 bit....

and in the 11 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs Folder that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the whole 11 Folder in which it exists.Make sure that you are working with Folder Options/Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the path described.
If that does not work, a complete Deactivation from Help Menu/Deactivate followed by the usual Control Panel uninstalled followed by reinstall may be in order. I am hoping the results from a CyberLink PowerProducer burn to may give us some valuable information so that we do not have to resort to uninstall/reinstall.
Are you using BD-R 25 GB 2X? What is this BD-R DL? Is that the 50 GB for Blu-ray? Do you have any BD-RE 25 GB 6X? How much are you planning on putting on this Blu-ray disc in terms of Space Required and duration?
Let us start here and then we can decide what next.
    Thanks.

  • LG BE06LU10 Blue Ray burning problems

    Hi everybody,
I don't know whether I can post my question here at the FCP directory, but I try in any case.
Problem: I can't burn Blue-Discs any more with my LG BlueRay burner BE06LU10.
In the last one and a half years, I burned 3 HD Blue Ray Discs with this burner successfully.
    What happens:
    • In FCP I exported the edited video in HDV 1080i50 format (1440 x 1080, 25 fps)
    • Export was successfully and I can dissplay the video in the Finder or when I double click the video is is being properly displayed on the computer screen. So I may conclude that the video is good!
    • I use Toast-10 Titanium Pro, with BD plug-in option for burning.
    • After start up of Toast, I placed the video in the main section of the screen and the Big Red Button on the lower right comes on and the first image of the video is shown as well. So far so good.
    • When there is NO disc in the LG burner, Toast shows a selection of the two burners, eg either the Pioneer DVD burner of the Mac and the LG DB burner.
    • After selecting the LG BD burner and pressing the Toast button, I get prompted with a screen indicating how many copies I like to have and the writing speed.
    • By placing a blank BD disk in the LG burner, I click record.
    Now here comes my problem:
    • The tray is closing but a screen appears which may also shows a comment like "Please insert a blank disc" and "Waiting for writer" in case I did not inserted a disk in the first place.
    • The burner keeps on spinning and makes a clicking sound about every four seconds. So it seems that either the burner is not being recognised by the computer or there is some sort of communication problem between the Computer, Toast program and or LG burner.
Can anyone please advise what to do?
    Thank you,
    Regards Hans

There was a firmware update for the LG burners towards the end of last year. I believe it was to do with compatibility between burners and the latest media.
    Might be worth trying that:
    http://www.lg.com/uk/support/product/support-product-profile.jsp?customerModelCo de=BE06LU10&initialTab=drivers&targetPage=support-product-profile
(Click on "Drivers and Software" ---> Version "YE05".)
You can see your current Firmware Version under System Profiler, but....
...there is a gotcha: the updater is Windows only - you'll have to beg/borrow/steal a PC to connect the drive to temporarily, to do the upgrade. At least it's a USB-connected external - and is easily moved between computers.

  • DVD & Blu Ray Burner Drive Trays Do Not Stay Open When Media is in the Drive

I have a problem with both Windows 8/8.1 and the Windows 10 Technical Preview (there is no issue when I run Windows 7).
I have 2 optical drives: 1) DVD Burner and 2) Blu Ray Burner (I just got the second drive a few weeks ago). They are attached to the secondary SATA Chip (see below for specifics).
The problem I'm having is that when I eject media from either drive, the drive does not stay open, but rather immediately closes. Before I got the Blu Ray Burner, I had this problem with just the single DVD Burner by itself. I was hoping when I installed
Windows 10 Technical Preview that this problem would not be present, but it is present in that O/S as well.
This problem will repeat continuously if I attempt to use the eject button and so I either have to grab the disc while the tray is moving, or if I press the eject button again on the drive at the right time, I can get it to re-open and not close (this
is tricky to get the button timing right as it seems like it has to be done close to when the drive tray is fully extended when it starts retracting). It usually takes me 5 to 10 button presses to get it to stay open. Sometimes it will stay open for about
0.5 to 1s before it closes again, but most of the times it just immediately closes. I also have the same problem if I use the software eject feature by right clicking on the drive and choosing eject.
Of course, the expected behavior is that pressing the eject button should open the tray, but not close it immediately allowing you to remove the disc.
Here is some background information about my system and how the drives are connected:
    1. Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP45-ED3P Revision 1.0 LGA 775
    2. Interface (for both drives): Gigabyte SATA II Chip - 2 x SATA 3 GB/s connectors (GSATA2_0, GSATA2_1) supporting up to 2 SATA 3 GB/s devices
    3. Memory: 8 GB (4 x 2 GB)
It should be noted that I tri-boot between Windows 7, 8/8.1, and 10 Technical Preview and that this issue is not present in Windows 7, but has always been there in Windows 8/8.1 and now it is present in 10TP as well.
I've had this system for just over 6 years now and it is still going strong. It should be noted that I have both drives on the secondary SATA chip (as identified above), which is meant to be used with removable SATA devices.
Since the problem exhibits itself in both Windows 8/8.1 and 10TP, a reinstall of the O/S will have no affect on this problem and so this appears to be some other issue that is consistent between Windows 8/8.1 and 10TP.
I'd appreciate your support in looking at this issue - thanks!
    Matt Caspermeyer
P.S. I also submitted this feedback through the Insider Program.
    Matt

    Hey Zagayer,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
As you now have two optical drives in your Mac Pro, you need to be able to choose which drive to eject.  That is built into the system.  You just hold the Option key while tapping eject for the 2nd drive.
OS X Mountain Lion: Eject a disk
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10613
If your computer has two optical drives, hold down Option-Media Eject or Option-F12 to eject a disc from the second drive.
    Have a nice day,

  • Premiere elements 11 does not recognize blu ray burner

Purchased Pawtec external blu ray burner. Premiere elements 11 recognizes it as a dvd burner but not a blu ray burner. How can I fix this?

    Long160
There is no burn to folder for Blu-ray in Premiere Elements (any version), so we cannot use that escape route. What has been used in the past as a workaround for this "no burn to folder for Blu-ray" is creating a Blu-ray disc image with Premiere Elements in conjunction with a virtual Blu-ray burner with a virtual BD-RE disc. I have written about that in the following blog post
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/11/pe12-disc-imagephantom-burner-pe.html
But, as for the Pawtec external Blu-ray burner being recognized in the Premiere Elements 11 burner location in burn to Blu-ray,
    a. you may just have an external Blu-ray burner that is not compatible with Premiere Elements
    b. you could try for a Premiere Elements 11 uninstall/reinstall going the route of Deactivation with in the program (Help Menu/Deactivate), uninstall via regular Control Panel route, ccleaner run through (https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner), reinstall.
Have you tried another USB port? Does the Blu-ray burner require one or two USB connections to have enough power for functioning?
Also, do you have all you operating system updates?
    More later.

  • How do I stop my Blu-Ray burner from "sleeping" or going offline?

I recently installed a PIONEER BD-RW BDR-206 Blu-Ray burner in my Mac Pro.  After about an hour or so it apparently goes to sleep or does something where the computer does not recognize it anymore.  And I can't do anything to bring it back other than restart the computer.
This poses a significant problem when I use Compressor to burn Blu-Ray discs because Compressor might take 10 hours to process, then when it's done I lose everything because it can't burn the disc because the computer doesn't see the blu-ray burner anymore.
The only way I've found to get around this is to eject and then close the burner every hour or so.  That's a good band aid, but not acceptable.  Especially when I set to burn overnight or I leave the office for the day.
I've gone through System Settings and do not see anything pertaining to this, but I'd be happy to admit if I've overlooked something to fix this issue!
    Please offer any feedback,
    Thank you.
    Eric P

Thanks Dennis.   I believe I did try that option to no avail.  After talking with the techs where I got it (MacSales or MacWorld... don't remember off hand now) they said that that particular burner was known for this issue with Macs.  They work with Macs, but they have that problem of going offline even if all computer settings say to stay active.  I ultimately purchased a different brand burner and now it works no problem.
I also bought a casing for the old Pioneer so that I could still use it.
    Thanks,
    Eric

  • Blu-ray Encore problem

When i go to burn a blu-ray disc, Encore does all the necessary things as encode, render etc and then states that is is burning the disc but the time it takes to burn the disc is almost instant and as you can guess it has not actually burnt the disc although Encore thinks it has. Does any one have any suggestions on that might be the problem?
I have tried doing an ISO image and burning from there but i still get the same issues. I have tried other progammmes to burn an disc and this works so the Blu-ray burner (LG GGW H20L)is certainly working. I did a reinstall of Encore but still no luck. (I did previously manage to burn Blu-ray discs successfully using this burner si I can't understand what is wrong)

I have had the same problem occasionally, and it usually comes after I've done a change or two of assets, or menus. The only way I could get it to work was to carefully completely rebuild the project.
    Have you rebuilt the project?
I never have used the Encore burning to disk part (I always have burned a SD folder and burned the disk using Nero and more recently ImgBurn, so I've carried that over to BluRay, burning a BluRay folder)
Since I've usually had short projects, I usually burn the BluRay folder to a DVD. I see you already burned an Image which works as well when ImgBurn does it.
Sorry, but rebuild is all I can suggest.

  • Encore CS4 refuses to see Blu-ray burner

Using Encore CS4, I had previously been able to burn HD video using my LG Blu-ray burner. Recently though i have been unable to build my projects and bun to Blu-ray. I get a "None Found" from the Recorder selection of the Build Project window even though the burner does display as an option when I select DVD as the recording format. I believe that one of two possibliites exist: 1. Some other software driver has broken my blu-ray driver and Encore can no longer see it, or 2. Some other software has captured the blu-ray burner device and Encore can no longer use it. I have already removed "Nero" because i have herad that it can cause Encore grief. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • DV8T Blu ray burner?

Im trying to get a straight answer from HP and they were totally confused by their own product description. I opted to upgrade to the Blu-Ray +/-R/RW with SuperMultifor the additional $150. After reading a single review stating the blu ray burner in this model could burn 50 gigs. I asked HP to confirm this and the person I spoke to was not sure if there was even a burner in this model.
Has anyone who purchased the DV8T with the Blu-Ray +/-R/RW with SuperMultioption confirmed it is a blu ray burner?

Finally got a semi straight answer from HP on this.
    Dear Robert,
Thank you for contacting the HP Home & Home Office Sales Center.
I understand that you are inquiring if the Blu-Ray device capable of burning Blu-Ray media. I also understand that you want to know the manufacturer and the model number. HP is considered as the best in technology. We appreciate your interest on HP products. Let me go ahead and assist you with this.
Robert, I am glad to inform you that the Blu-Ray device can burn Blu-Ray media. It can also writes to, reads and plays back, standard CDs and DVDs as well. The Blu-Ray Device includes BD-J (Blu-ray Java) which offers a variety of interactive capabilities. Formats: 12x (DVD), 32x (CD), 2x BD Read, 32x (CD), 12x (DVD+R), 12x (DVD-R), 4x (DVD+R DL), 4x (DVD-R DL), 2x (BD-R). Unfortunately, we don't have any information about the manufacturer and the model number of the Blu-Ray device.
Although they still did not adress the question as to what type of BD media it writes to. I guess trial and error will answer that. Unfortunatly if the media does not work then you wasted money buying it.
Im sure once I get delivery Ill be able to locate a model number if they did not scratch it off.

I have burned to my external blu ray burner 3 times, but twice ended up with glitches in the project. now it stops at 59% and won't finish sharing. How do I get it to finish sharing?

It's a complex project and there are a lot of possibilities. Among them is the length; there are a number of reports of projects that are approaching 2 hours failing to burn.
If it's a question of jarring Create Disk into action, one thing that has worked for some users is simply to click on and the Apply button (s) in the Settings pane of the Blu Ray Share window and then hitting Cancel. This can be tested by duplicating your project and selecting a tiny section of your sequence and exporting. Change the Output Device to Hard Drive and see whether Create Disk successfully writes a disk image.
You can also  check that a specific clip isn't rendering properly. Since the process got to 59%, it may just mean that the burn couldn't be initiated by Create Disk – or it may indicate a problem with a clip toward end of your sequence. (If you can check the log, there may be something useful in there.)
Use the duplicated project and this time set a range for the last 30 minutes or so of the project and export it, using the Blu Ray destination. Again, set Output Device to HD and see whether it will complete.
    Good luck.
    Russ

Can I connect my Apple TV to the Blu-Ray using an HDMI/ USB adapter?
If you can find such a thing.  I really doubt that exists since USB is a data connector not a video connector.
would allow me to run the audio through my stereo.
That would depend on this adapter.

  • What is the best way to burn to disk in Encore?? (without using the Blu-ray option)

I am trying to put together a video for my sister (who lives in the UK) of her wedding, that she can watch on her dvd/blu-ray player as a movie with scenes and menus. So, initally, I am using Encore to create menus/scenes and prior to this, used premiere pro to edit sequences and chop up/edit the video. I realise that while i am in premiere pro, I can queue it up and have the option to change the format of my files to AVI, MPEG, H.264 etc to maximise the best quality. I then take that file (or files) and bring them into encore and begin creating my scenes and menus.
Once i am happy with the final result, I then aim to burn this to a disc where i can then send it to her so that she and her newly wed hubby can invite their friends/family around to their place and remember that fabulous day together. Where i am getting stuck is when it comes to burning that file using encore as it only offers to build the project for DVD or Blu-ray. Since i dont have a blu-ray burner, it seems that my only option is to select DVD. Obviously DVD is SD and the resolution for this is 720*480. This doesnt work for me, because once i burn it to dvd, i lose almost half the quality of the original video. I have a few questions here that hopefuly someone can help me with:
    1. Whats the point of encoding the timeline in premiere pro to a really high quality file such as H.264 if encore only offers DVD, Blu-ray or Flash? (I mean, why have this if you only have a dvd burner?)
    2. Since i dont have a blu-ray burner, is there another way around taking my high res movie and putting it onto a DVD without loss of quality?
    3. Is there any other possible way (or settings to use) before burning it to a dvd that i could tweak to avaoid loss of quality?
    4. Should i perhaps be using some other way, rather than trying to create an ISO file in encore that will allow me to put this file on a dvd, which will still have a scenes and menu titles? (Meaning, so that it is just not an avi file sitting on a dvd, but rather it actually looks like a movie, with scenes, music in the background etc)?
Feel free to check out the orginial movie i cut up in post production at the link belwo. i did not shoot this vidoe so i am unsure as to what video camera was being used. All i was told, is that it was a fairly modern one (2012 i think). My sister merely sent me all the video and pictures and i just edited it in premiere pro, and now want to send it back to her in a format/way that she can watch it on her television with options to jump to scenes, just like when you watch a dvd movie at home.
Here is the link - https://vimeo.com/71008272
    Thanks for your help guys.

No, you can't burn a DVD with HD resolution files and have DVD or similar style navigation.
The solution is to buy a bluray burner.
The workaround is to create an HD version of the files in Premiere, but for the future. In the meantime, export MPEG2-DVD from Premiere, and use those in Encore for this project. During the export from Premiere is where you downrez and lose quality. Your sister should play this back on a player that supports upscaling.

I have a MACBOOK PRO running under 10.9 and 4 Gigs memory. I bought FCP to be able to burn blu-rays videos (I produced a 4h30 video on a trip to Turkey)
My video is produced in full HD. I have an LG blu-ray burner. I bought training videos on FCP at Macpro Video and they show that going on SHARE and selecting ADD A NEW DESTINATION will bring a window where should be an icon of a blu-ray disc. But I don't see any blu-ray icon there. My burner is the model BP40NS20

Thanks Tom! Yes, I have the french version. Then, is there a something to do to correct it.
