I'd like to know what the difference in picture quality is between the 3 CCD HVR Z1/FX1 cam's and the new CMOS based HVR A1E

Thinking about getting a new iMac to use as the main computer. Has anyone done this? What is your experience and recommendations?

We have a 2009 MBP, 2010 MBP, 2011 MBA, an IPAD 2, and several ipods. Currently, my 2009 MBP is the main computer, holding all the music and pictures. This has used up the majority of the available storage and definitely slows it down some. I do back up the full computer to a backup drive and also remove the large movie files to another external drive. I'm thinking about getting a new iMac to use as the main computer. Has anyone done this? What is your experience and recommendations?

A good share of my music was added via my CDs, but now everything is added via itunes and occasionally amazon. Almost all my pictures and video are added through my cameras via iphoto although I have added some with the 'add image to iphoto library' function also.

I've recently upgraded my stuff with a Mac Mini Server and downloaded Logic from the app store with absolutely no problems at all. I'm on 10.7.3 with an i7 processor and 4Gb memory (yeah, may as well put another 4 in as well, I know).
Logic 9.1.6 is running very smoothly for me, but I think I'll go to 9.1.7 because there is a malfunction with time stretching regions in the Arrange window that the update's meant to fix.
A lot of your experience with downloading the additional content, apart from Logic itself, will depend on the speed of your internet connection, but the software handling of that aspect seems quite good - best to just load one lot of stuff at a time and see how it works out.

Has anybody done a database version for flexstore

I was wondering if somebody has done DB version of
specifically this version of flexstore in flex 2.0

Specifically the UI gets really crawls if you have even 600
items because it loads the entire XML, and the view loads
everything without some form of paging. Obviously this can be
resolved through some of paging such as reading first 10 etc or
querying and getting appropriate data from DB based on filters etc.

somebody can share what they have done.

I am preparing for the tSQL and PL/SQLv exam for the Release 2
track. I am hoping to do it in 2 weeks time. I am trying to
get in touch with people who have already done this exam
recently. I have done the Oracle assessment test for this
particular paper. What I want to know is, how is the real test
when compared to the assessment test? Is it the same or
tougher? Also the PL/SQL version I am using for my studies is
2.3.4, but I am using an old version 2.0 manual. We really
donFt have any new manuals. Almost all of the Oracle manuals we
have are ones printed around 1992. So I was wondering whether I
am studying using outdated manuals. Is there a way to get the
new manuals for the latest releases of PL/SQL? I would be very
grateful if anybody who has done this paper can get back to me.

The Standard of the questions in the real exam are mostly
equivalent to that of the assesment test.
You can also use the DBA Examination preparation guide.

Has anybody done 4K in xsan environment

hi all,
ahs anybody succesfully done xsan systems that uses 4k format? what are the stripe breadth and block size to be configured? how many raids needed? and do i have to configured raid 5 or raid 0 in video data? we have just 1 client and 1 stremam needed. can this be done? what is 4k? i am a newbie in video world i have experiences only in DV and compressed HD.
please help.
can FCP handle this kind of format (4k)? do i need to install some plugins or codecs that can handle this format?

what raid configuration you have here? the transfer rate is very fast indeed is it in raid 0 config? what is the transfer rate if configured as raid 5? and have you tested it on xsan environment?
im also new to this 2k and 4k stuff and this may not the right place to ask but will share some info
i have heard one company RED a maker of 2K and 4K camera that can handle this footage and record it digitally to a 8-16GB flash disk or directly to a 160GB hard disk which you can just pop it in into the camera. The way they capture it is through firewire 800 or usb 2.0, and the files are in .r3d, you can load the files to their included software REDCINE or REDALERT where you can adjust color and export it to a quicktime file where the FinalCut can read it. There is also a codec available in there site called REDCODE that you install in a FinalCut system where it can read directly the RED footage and edit away directly.
There are also film based camera that can handle 2k to 4k stuff also, the way they capture is by telecine process, wherein they have a device that you load the negative, can read the negative film and at the same time capture the data from the negative directly to a hard disk through firewire/usb
i could be wrong in here but they might be other people who could chime in
most of the production company that i've heard and handle this stuff will make the storage directly attached to a system
some people also say xsan can handle this, but i have to see it for myself.

We have a product that is integrated to SAP via custom BAPIs.
So when we sell our product, for the product to work it will look for these custom BAPIs.
So I would like to know if there is a way that we can bundle the custom BAPIs and send them on a CD along with our product, which the customer can upload to his system?
One option is to send our consultants to help them in recreating these custom BAPIs on their SAP system. But we want to avoid this by giving an option of just uploading the custom BAPIs.
Your suggestions or feedback will be highly appreciated.

Yes, it was my mistake of not clearly mentioning it as a custom BAPI in the header :). Sorry for that.
Regarding the functionality, we have some minor modifications to the standard BAPIs that create Quote, Order. Also, we had to include the TRANSACTION_COMMIT bapi in our custom bapi (ZBAPI). So that is the reason we need to package custom bapis since our customers can't use just the standard BAPIs that are sent along with SAP.
Hope I have answered the question. Any suggestions or feedback will be highly appreciated.

PS: What I am surprised is that none of the people whom I have spoken to has done this before. Even SAP tech support hasn't responded with a reasonable answer.

An update for numbers was shown for my macbook pro, however even though this has been done I cannot open numbers without updating and when you try to update again it advises you that this is already done so we go round in circles getting nowhere, any idea

Do not delete the old version of Numbers (Numbers 2.3, Numbers'09). It has features that the new Numbers has lost (in particular, Print View).
Numbers '09 has been moved to a folder called iWork '09 inside your Applications folder. The icon on your Dock continues to point to Numbers '09. Launching Numbers from that icon is why you get the "Update" message. Numbers 2.3 is trying to open a Numbers 3 document.
The new version of Numbers (Numbers 3.2 is the latest version) lives in your Applications folder (not a sub folder). Drag that icon to your Dock. It will become an Alias. Right click (or control click) on it and Options > Keep In Dock. Now you can chose which version to run.
Numbers 2 on the left (three columns)
Numbers 3 on the right (four columns).
Both versions will run happily side by side. Just be sure which version you use to open a Numbers document. If Numbers 3 tries to "steal" a Numbers 2 document, you will get a warning when you start to edit:
Edit a Copy will preserve your Numbers 2 document and create a Numbers 3 copy. Cancel will get you out. Upgrade will convert your Numbers 2 document to a Numbers 3 document.
If all else fails, you can do Menu > File > Export To > Numbers '09 to revert.
Do not delete Numbers '09 (or Numbers '08) from your machine! You will need them.

I found a solution that worked for me.
I removed all the fonts that Adobe CC installed out of my Library:Fonts folder and just left in the Apple Basic fonts like Arial, Courier etc... Launched Dreamweaver CC and the CSS designer panel works. I have no idea exactly which font it is, or creating the conflict. All I know is that it works great now.

very strange - I installed Illustrator CC and then I had no more problems with Dreamweaver! No more crashes when close or create files and no more problems with the CSS designer. Error messages during create fluid grid layouts are also gone ...

I think I figured it out on the Mac. Be sure that Verdana is activated in Font Book. What tipped me off to this was a warning I was receiving when trying to open After Effects. It was saying that the program needed Verdana for the user interface to work. I thought that maybe Dreamweaver needed Verdana too. Sure enough! Hope this helps you guys.

FX1 1080i footage through ilink conversion to imovie DV widescreen project, and send to idvd. has anybody done this and come out with a good result? i keep getting the same problem - dvd menu audio plays but the actual movie is muted. i'm starting to wonder if magic movie can handle a HDV to DV stream.

Has anybody configured Forms/Reports as cluster in 11g patch3?

Situation:
Three OEL machines (r5u5 32 bit).
Versions: WLS 10.3.3, Forms/reports 11.1.1.2 with patchset 11.1.1.3.
On the first machine I successfully installed the admin server and the first instances of the forms and reports managed servers.
On the second machine I successfully expanded the cluster from the first machine. All managed servers can be brought up and are working
Problem:
When installing the third machine, the same way as I did the second machine, the config process, remains in the state "in progress" on the step "starting managed server WLS_FORMS2" and several retries to start the managed server ... fail, ending in a failure of the installation.
Tests so far:
Hostname is underscoreless ... yes ;-)
The http and webcache are installed with it, first I did a trial with not selecting them.
Question:
It seems to me not a lot of environments are running forms in a WLS cluster and I can nowhere find info on what might be the problem. Has anybody done this kind of an environment yet (installation of forms in clustered mode) ? and/or encountered the same kind of problems ... ?

You seem to be installing the weblogic server 10.3.4 and then the forms and reports 11.1.1.2. I think that this is an incompatible combination, and you need to install weblogic server 10.3.2 with that version of forms and reports. Y9ou can then patch up to newer versions afterwards.

Mac clients don't honour Samba settings for new directory and file creation masks so I thought I would set the Umask value in smbd.plist and that would apply to all clients, Mac SMB clients too.
Has anybody done that before?

So I think and hope that means that adding Umask setting to smbd.plist would have some effect on how smbd will create files, wouldn't you agree?
Windows clients already honour the settings in /var/samba/shares and create all directories and files with the specified POSIX permissions. My problem is that OS X samba clients don't honour those settings and use their own umask. I want to solve this on the server, not by configuring each client separately.

did you just upgrade from an Aperture 3.2.x version to Aperture 3.3.1? This error message usually occures after the upgrade to 3.3.1, when Aperture cannont convert the library format to 3.3. format.
I'd try to repair the Aperture Library (Mediathek), before upgrading it. Hold down the option-command key combination (⌥⌘) while double-clicking Aperture. This will bring the "Aperture Library First Aid Tools" panel forward. Select "Rebuild Database" and see, if it will resolve the the problem.
