Has anybody some experience with acquiris digitizers (placed in PXI)?

Hey guys,
I am using a Acquiris DC140 Digitizer in my PXI and I'm trying to control it via Matlab, but it does not work.
Error messages similar to the following example appear in any case of given m-file usage:
??? Undefined function or method 'AqDrvMex' for input
arguments of type 'char'.
Error in ==> Aq_getNbrInstruments at 10
[status nbrInstrument] =
AqDrvMex('Aq_getNbrInstruments');
I have no idea whatever is meant with AqDrvMex.
it must be some kind of .dll-file, but I find myself clueless where to get it from?
I wrote this to Agilent's support. I hope they can help me.
Nevertheless, it would be great to find some help here, either.
Thanks 4 reading

Hello foe,
i think it´s the best idea to contact Agilent because MathWorks also
write that the support for this devices is to contact Agilent.
You also can use this instrument under LabVIEW there are driver on the homepage.

I do backup with iCloud.  I can't wait until the new iMac is available so that I can once again have my files in more than 1 location without needing to rely solely on the cloud.
I also rely on iTunes and my MacBook and Time Machine as well as backing up to iCloud. I know many users know have gone totally PC free, but I chose to use iCloud merely as my third backup.
I assume that the restore would result in my ability to open Pages and Numbers and fix the problem with deleting apps, but this would also mean that if my Numbers documents still exist solely within the app and are just not on iCloud for some reason that they would be gone forever.  Is that right?
In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

  • TS1702 Has anybody come up with a solution for updating the apps...!!!????

Yes, I updated all the time.

  • OnyX for Snow Leopard, How has been your experience with it?

What is OnyX? it's in the apple download page, I know it is a maintenance tool. However I have a few questions about it, it is safe to use? Can it cause system instability? (Cache out X does that), How has been your experience with it?
I'm asking this just to know if its worth installing in my Mac, because I don't want a tool that says it will increase system performance, and then when you run it, you'll end up with an under performing system giving you a lot of error logs that take hard drive space away.
    Thank You.

Yes, that was an assumption on my part that the person already knew the admin password. Should have said so to avoid confusion.
Well, if the person already knows the admin password, then he is an administrator. He can then promote his own account to admin and take over the whole machine.
Hmm. I don't see how that would work. Once you enter the admin password, you'd be able to do anything OnyX had in its feature set.
Exactly. I, as an admin user, but who uses a non-admin account for everyday use, could launch OnyX in my non-admin account, enter the admin password, and then use it. Completely secure. A non-admin user who doesn't know the admin user would still be prevented from using OnyX at all. That allows for the same level of security as exists right now, and is how all other system utilities, even ones provided by Apple, work.
We'll have to agree to disagree there. It's a good safety net for the less computer savvy. Like keeping your kids away from such utilities.
All I'm asking for is for OnyX to ask for admin credentials when being launched from a non-admin account. Then, if the non-admin user can't enter the admin password, then the program would simply quit. If an administrator is there to authenticate, then the administrator can launch and use it to maintain and/or repair the non-admin account. That is 100% completely as secure as the situation now.
But the current situation is that it will simply refuse to open at all under a non-admin account, meaning that not even an administrator can use it to repair or maintain a non-admin account. That isn't any additional layer of security. It's quite the contrary; it's preventing an administrator from administering the computer.
Right now the only workaround to get OnyX to do any maintenance on a non-admin account is to temporarily promote that account to admin. I would argue that that is a heck of a lot less secure than simply allowing an administrator to launch the app from the non-admin account without having to promote the whole account to admin.
All admin utilities provided by Apple - Software Update, all the secure System Preferences, Disk Utility, Workgroup Manager, even sudo on the command line, all allow themselves to be run from any non admin account, by an administrator who can enter the admin password. All of this conforms to Apple's security guidelines. OnyX is broken if it doesn't follow those guidelines.
The OnyX developer seems to assume that everyone runs all the time in an admin account, and it will only clear browser caches in admin accounts. The fact that Apple warns against even browsing the web while logged in to an admin account shows that the OnyX developer has a thing or two to learn about security configuration.

Thanks guys....I realize that 300 clip is considered torturous, but its rather depressing that my Q6600 main Vista PC can play it smoothly (or even booting it into...erm...Hackintosh mode), and there is apparently nothing I can do to get it working as well on my PPC Quad.
I guess its as much to blame on the decoder options; even XBMC (apparently the PPC best option for multicore) refuses to use more than 2 cores....never reaches 200% usage in activity monitor, yet still the stuttering/uneven play. It does play better than VLC & PerianQT tho.
Ahh well. Thanks for everyone's help....I may still yet upgrade the vidcard, but as of right now, if this wouldnt really help the 1080p issues, its less of a priority than before. Thanks for the GTX512 suggestion; I might go that route too.
Also, thanks to the guy who took the time to dl and test than 300 video for me, that helped immensely.

  • Refurbished iMac...anybody have experience with quality level?

I am considering buying a new machine and buying a refurbished product to save a few bucks. Has anybody out there had experience with the level of quality on these machines? Thanks!

    Welcome to the discussions!
While I do not have a refurbished iMac, my BlackBook is a refurb and has been performing very well since I bought it back at the end of June.
It came in the plain brown box, but everything arrived in flaweless condition and it even smelled new.
Since it comes with the same one year warranty that a new unit does and you still have the option to extend that to three years with AppleCare, they are a great deal.
Bmer has a friend that received a bend MacBook Pro (or maybe it was a PowerBook) that Apple promptly arranged for a repalcement, but that is the exception rather than the rule. By and large you will receive a unit that is every bit as good as a new one, but save money.
Another thing to mention is that some users report receiving upgrades at no additional charge. Apple advertises the base configuaration and then ships out that they have in stock. That may mean extra RAM or a larger hard drive, but do not count on it. For that reason, I sugest waiting to receive your MB before ordering any upgrades.

  • ANybody have experience with EVENT 20/20bas studio monitors?

I am looking at a mint condition pair of these monitors. I am wondering what anyone has to say about them. Worth seriously looking at? Best I can ascertain is these sell for around $900? They may be a year or two old, so the current model might be an upgrade from these. Any advice would be appreciated.

Unless you absolutely CANNOT do without monitors right now, if all you can spend is $500/pair, I'd wait.
It has been my experience that for $500, you can get a nice upgrade from monitoring on stereo speakers. And yes, there are some good deals in that range (the KRK RP5s aren't bad, neither are the Yorkville YSM1s).
    BUT...
...you get SOOO much more from a $1000/pair set like the Dynaudio BM5A. The improvement in stereo imaging and sonic detail is really massive.
My opinion (for what it's worth) is that monitors are one of a very few areas in which you cannot afford to skimp. Microphones and preamps are two others. Converters? There's always going to be a better set coming out tomorrow. But a U47 into a Neve will always be a U47 into a Neve. Basically, if its analog, its based on physics, and you can't improve the laws of physics. A good mic, pre, or monitor will last you for 20 years or more.
So, if you NEED the monitors now, I'd recommend the KRK RP5 (or RP6 if you need a bigger woofer, but the RP5s sound nicer) or the Yorkville YSM1s.
Otherwise, save your pennies for something you can grow with .

  • Anybody got experience with Hitachi Deskstar 7K750?

    Hi,
I'm finally about to get my iMac a bigger harddrive. I've been looking at Seagate's 750gb drive, but i read Anandtech's review of Hitachi's 7k1000 harddrive and as far as i understood they were quite positive about it. After looking into 7K1000 i noticed that they also have the 7K750, which is 750GB.
I was wondering if anybody knows or has any experiences with this 7K750 harddrive?
If anybody has insights or experiences of the other above mentioned harddrive i'd gladly hear from you. Which would you get and why?
    Thanks for your help!

When you have spamassassin of os x server already running it is simple to upgrade spamassassin. I never had any problems - tested on three tiger - mailservers.
Simply follow the instructions on http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/spamassassin/branches/3.1/INSTALL and upgrade on 3.1.3 (it reports itself as 3.001003) using the terminal and the perl-helper-app MCPAN .
When doing this the first time you may respond to the questions asked, but you can also choose you are not ready for a manual configuration. This does not interfere with amavis, clamav or anything else.
Worst thing that could happen is that you need to install the most recent perl-libraries on which spamassassin is dependent on...

  • Has anyone had experience with these 2.5 IDE enlosures...?

    Hello,
Has anyone had any experience with 2.5 " HD enclosures as seen on site like ebay for a buck...it says ts only wnodows based but its USB right?
Super slim 2.5 inch USB2.0/1.1 Aluminium Hard Disk Drive Case/Enclosure

    System Requirements:
    One available USB port
    Microsoft Windows 98se/Me/2000/XP
    16MB RAM (24MB recommended)
    Package included :
    1 x 2.5" hard drive case
    1 x Soft leather case
    1 x USB cable

There's no reason for a standard external USB hard drive enclosure not to work on a Mac. The technology is an industry standard. As you don't link to the specific item, we can't say anything about the quality, ect... but I guess for $1 you don't have much to loose. So long as you're sure the drive you have is an older IDE drive (as most drive for the past few years have been SATA). I guess that may be why they're selling so cheap as IDE drives are pretty rare in notebooks anymore.

  • PT 8.52 - Early adopters? What has been your experience with it in Prod?

After our HR upgrade to HR 9.1 and PT 8.51 in October, 2011, there is desire to turn around and do a Tools only upgrade to PT 8.52 this spring for various reasons (iPad tablet certification, etc). I remember a 2010 OpenWorld presentation where Oracle recommended that the "sweet spot" for go-live of a new Tools version was about 12-13 months after GA. I have found that advice to be sound in the real world as well.
What is the general vibe of PT 8.52 in Production? What have been your experiences with 8.52? If you are in Production, are you either HR, FSCM or CRM?
    Thanks,
    Scott

Could someone please post or send the upgrade documentation you have followed?.
Or please, send me an URL to the upgrade documentation.
It appears that the upgrade documentation might not be complete and/or correct.
    The problem:_
Your upgrade environment has a psio_dir.dll from the previous/old PT850/PT851 install.
To validate this check out the size and the date stamp of the file. It will show the year as 2009 and the size as 48KB.
    THE FIX:_
Bring down your Application Server. Remove all the cache and log files.
Permanetntly REMOVE (not rename) the psio_dir.ll from *$PS_HOME/\bin\server\winx86\psio_dir.dll* from your PeopleSoft Application Server environment.
    Bring up your Application Server.
If you are a developer using/doing work using Application Designer, permanently remove <PS_HOME>\bin\client\winx86\psio_dir.dll from your Application Designer machine.
    This should fix your problem.
    thanks,
    Subbu
Note - I do not speak for Oracle. These comments are of my own.

has anybody else having problems with their credit card going through when it is good?

Each time that you add or change your credit card details on your iTunes account a small temporary store holding charge may be applied to check that the card details are correct and valid and that it's registered to exactly the same name and address as on your iTunes account - it should disappear off your account within a few days or so.

  • Has anyone any experience with a USB-6008 and reading a thermistor value

    Labview 8.0 connected to a USB-6008
I am using 'BC Components' NTC Thermistor. I used the express VI to create a Vex input and entered the A,B,& C values from the datasheet. The thermistor is the 10K version and I placed a 10K resistor in series with it. I wired it as is shown in the connection diagram, and applied 2.5 volts to it.
I get completly the wrong temperature readings out of it! I called the NI help line in the UK and the engineer confirmed that I had done everything correctly but couldn't understand why it didn't work.
    Any thoughts?

  • Anybody had experience with Audigy2 PCMCIA + PCMCIA to PCI adapter?

I have been using my Audigy 2 ZS (PCMCIA) on a laptop as a media center for a looong time, but the laptop died and I'm using a cheap desktop for it.
The built-in soundcard lacks luster and I want to use my Audigy in it, but I'll be needing a PCI to PCMCIA adapter. Because the Audigy 2 ZS was so picky about the Cardbus adapter it was connected to, I want to know of other peoples' experiences on doing the same thing.
Has anyone else connected their Audigy 2 ZS - laptop into a desktop using a PCMCIA-to-PCI adapter? Which brand/model and how did it work out?
