Has anybody tried to install RAC on Zones as nodes ?

Hi guys,
Could anyone share his experiences about installing Oracle RAC
on Solaris zones located on single physical machine ?
I created 2 sparse root zones , presented the same raw devices for ocr and votedisk to them and try to install clusterware,
but during clusterware initialization there is an error
OCROSD[1]utsz:3: ioctl DKIOCGAPART failed. errno 48
Does anybody tried similar configuration ?

I have not tried this since it is explicitly unsupported by oracle.

Has anybody tried the Day-Timer iPhone App - Syncs. Calendar + Todo list?

I have done lots of that.
To get your Hi-8 video into iMovie, use the Grassvalley ADVC300. With the ADVC300 Audio and Video go in, FireWire comes out. It also comes with a nice Macintosh application that works flawlessly with iMovie 06 and iDVD 09/11 (I have used it a few times with iMovie 11).

I found a link to this sample from this forum, and I need to implement a similar functionality. I tried running the code of this sample but it returns a "NullPointerException" for the call "GetHeaderRenderer" in the class "GroupableTableHeaderUI".
Has anybody tried this, and if so, how do I get this sample to work ??

I ran into this problem a while ago. If you are using SDK 1.3 and above, tame's example won't work. You need to some minor modification in the "GroupableTableHeaderUI" java file. I have already made it work under SDK 1.3.02. I don't have the source code at home. So, if you need to take look at my source code please let me know, I can either e-mail or post it when I return to my office.

Has anyone tried to download and install windows 8 on their libretto ?
It is said that windows 8 only require an Atom processor and 1GB of RAM to run ?

I've installed windows 8 preview with an acer T230H touchscreen.
I will not install it on the libretto.
The bulletin board is much more intuitiv and flexible than metro.
I'm missing touch flicks on windows 8.
There is missing a start button.
It's for only one screen.
With two screens you have to work differently:
- one screen for the desktop
- one screen for the boards
It's difficult to get applications from metro to the desktop. You can not make photos or videos or snippets. You can not turn the picture or resize them. There is only one board. I don't know how to add weblinks on the metro side. You lose mach time by switching the desktop to metro.
Im waiting for an update of the bulletin board instead of windows 8.
The libretto has a good combination of a Desktop Computer and a smartphone. Windows 8 is neighter a good desktop nor a good board for apps. Neighter Metro nor the Desktop are complete.
Please tell toshiba to upgrade the bulletin board!!! It has much potential and should be opened with an SDK for external extensions and applications.

My computer is stuck on installing (running package scripts) during an office 2011 update. It has been trying to install since last night. I can't turn my computer off or anything! It's been frozen at "23 min. remaining" and isn't making any progress.

Go up to the Apple menu and see if you can force quit the process. If not, hold the power button down for 5-10 seconds and it will shut down your MBP.

I am kinda new here so I am not sure if this is the right place to post this question? I want to buy a set of external speakers for my kid's ipod, and he wants these giant earbud things. I found them on Amazon for $50, but then the same thing on ebay for $18.95 - apparently some sort of liquidation or something. Has anyone tried these? How is the sound?

I was watching a favorite IPTV show of mine, and they had an interview about LinuxDNA. From what I understood, it allows you to optimize the kernel specifically for what you do, for example gaming. They claim to have a 200 FPS increase on Quake 3 once they optimized the system. Has anybody gotten LinuxDNA to work on Arch?

Hi, this is Tyler McAdams. I was the one interviewed about LinuxDNA on hak5.org. Please allow me to clarify.
The 200fps increase is NOT with an ICC compiled kernel. It is strictly with GCC. An ICC compiled system with both an ICC compiled kernel and ICC system code with IPO and PGO optimizations would probably increase the FPS about 20fps or so on top of 200fps.
When I say 200 fps per sec increase, I am referencing to over Vista Ultimate on the same hardware:
P4 EE 3.4ghz, 4Gigs PC3200, Supermico P4SCT mobo, nVidia Geforce 7950 GT 512MB, KillerNic gaming network card, and X-Fi Fatality gaming sound card.
The Linux system tested was a highly optimized Gentoo Linux system that was optimized to do one thing only: gaming. The idea is to have a special gaming system that you can dual boot in to a lan events... etc for hard-core gamers. You would not and could not use this system for anything other than gaming.
We have many uses for the kernel, gaming hpc, netbooks...etc All of these uses are specialized and furthermore optimized through PGO profiling for a specific purpose. That is how we can get extra performance that a generic Windows or even Linux install can not.
Quake 3 is a cpu intensive game that works well on Intel hardware. That is why I picked it to talk about. It shows what you can do by optimizing a system for gaming.

I want to install RAC OBS on this server by installing VMWare for the single node. I do not want to wipe out the OAS, reinstore OSL5 and start from a blank machine.
Can I keep what I have on the server and install RAC OBS by installing VMWare, configuring the virtual sharing disks, and install RAC OBS using ASM?

I'm planning to install Oracle 11g R1 (or R2) on Windows 7 but I don't see Windows 7 as one of the supported OS.

During installtion I got error

Problem: Oracle Database 11g is not certified on the current operating system.
Recommendation: Make sure you are installing the software on the correct platform.

path=c:oracle\ora11g\bin;(path should contain bin folder)
set ORACLE_SID=orcl
set system environment variables also
restart pc
tnsping orcl
Add one line to the WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/DRIVERS/ETC/HOSTS FILE
IP_address hostname.domainname hostname
LISTENER.ORA
make sure host name is correct
tnsnames.ora
sqlnet.ora

Has anybody tried to uninstall ML

I installed ML on Friday the 27th and quickly realized it was not gonna work, "Power PC" products no longer worked like Excell or Word and as a realtor I need access to the realtor data base which only works in Explorer and that no longer worked. Well the bottom line uninstalling has been a nightmare. Phone support couldn't get it done so I have to go into the store. I am rather shocked that Mac no longer wants to play with PC products. That was the 1 thing besides a bug free system that kicked PC's but. No matter what Mac would always work with 99% of all applications. Bummer, I was really looking forward to the new product. Now have to try and get my money back for the ML bomb.

Cloning as backup allows you to keep and have a bootable copy or image of your system before you do the update, even allows you to wipe the system you have and then install and use Setup Assistant to bring it back to how it was and still keep your old system on an external drive for backup and safety net - such as here.
