Has ANYONE called APPLE?

I have the original $ gig I phone. Ever since upgrading to 2.0, and now 2.0.1, I have been so frustrated with my phone.
Like many people here, I experience constant lag while typing, my contacts dont scroll properly, and lately while I charge the phone it gets VERY VERY hot. My phone battery also seems to die quicker...But that may be me...
Anyway, HAS ANYONE CALLED APPLE?
What do they tell you?

Hey Vismich,
+"When you’re using iPhone or charging the battery, it is normal for iPhone to get warm. The exterior of iPhone functions as a cooling surface that transfers heat from inside the unit to the cooler air outside."+

  • Has anyone called about the 1st Gen Update issue?

I was just wondering if anyone has actually called Apple about the 3.1.3 Update issue with the 1st gen iTouches. I don't want to waste my time and call when they might just respond with "there's no current solution". My iPod has been bricked on that screen with the "plug in the USB cord" symbol for a few days. Help!

My wife had the same problem with 1st gen 32gb Touch. She uses a pc based laptop with Vista OS. Couldn't get past the Apple logo even when trying to reset. I plugged into my Mac tonight, and for the heck of it, reset the iPod using the on/off button and home screen button. It now would appear in my iTunes and allowed me to reset. It is starting from scratch again (as she doesn't appreciate my play list), but at least it is fully operational again.
Have seen where others state they can't restore. May be able to using a Mac. Food for thoughts anyway. Hope this helps.

  • Has anyone experienced Apple Mail flattening .PSD file attachment when sending?

One of my students encountered the case when Apple Mail flattens .PSD file when sending an attachment.
Running latest Mac OS X 10.6.2 (10C540) Mail Version 4.2 (1077). Multi layered .PSD file 120K was saved on desktop and than attached to email. None of the Adobe applications were running at that time. After it was sent, the attached file in Send mail folder was flattened and it size dropped to 88K.
The flattened file was sent to destination. Although we could not reproduce this problem on the other computers, it always happens on this particular machine.
When the problem was reported to Apple, the answer from engineers was more disturbing than the problem itself.
They said "... it is OK to flatten the file to reduce the size of attachment when sending. It is expected email behavior". I am very troubled by this attitude from Apple. Flattening the image discards information contained in individual layers. This is actually EDITING the contents of an attachment when sending it.
Has anyone experience this problem? Also, I would appreciate feedback on Apple's position that it is OK to edit attachments when sending them withou asking the user first.

    Marian,
I'm afraid you have missed the point. People send binary files via email all the time: images, video and music clips - in fact any attachment is a binary file. Underlying protocols are implementation details, a mail client may choose any form of encoding/encryption to send an attachment. However, the internet standard requires that an attached file is delivered exactly as it was sent, mail clients/servers are not allowed to take upon themselves to "optimize" attachments without the end user knowledge and permission. It creates a dangerous precedent. In this particular case my photography student had no way of knowing that for whatever reason his particular setup would flatten the image and ruin his homework.
Also, none of the protocols: FTP, SMTP or HTTP is inherently binary or MIME encoded, it depends on the settings and implementation ( Check RFC's)
I am not asking for a work around, which is trivial. I am simply trying find how serious is the problem. This is not a normal behavior, I know for certain only about two cases when it happens. With such a rare occurrence it seem to be a bug rather than a feature. That is why Apple reaction to is so surprising.

  • Has anyone used Apple TV abroad?

I will be living in South America. Is Apple TV 2 a good platform for me to get TV shows not available on satellite TV? Has anyone used it abroad?

I am from the UK and live in Switzerland. I discovered this great work around so that I can access the Apple TV UK store (so that I can get English language movies) without need for an address in UK. Simply buy itunes vouchers from the UK, register those in your itunes account (change to United Kingdom) and hey presto, you're in!  You then simply run down the credit as you rent or buy movies and buy more vouchers when you need them. Works great!  Guess it would also work for other countries that sell itunes vouchers??

  • Can anyone call Apple for help?

Or do you have to have the Protection Plan to get the numbers. Any clarification would be awesome.
    Thanks

Anyone can call Apple... But im sure you have to have an Apple product. I think all they ask for is your E-Mail address

  • Has anyone at apple ever heard of regression testing? ATV audio still doesn't work on 4.3.3

I really don't think that there are any software validation principles in place at apple because my Apple TV has now been unusable for over a month due to all of these failed software updates.  Upgraded to 4.3.3 yesterday and it didn't resolve any of my audio issues.  I am using a DVI connection with optical audio out.  No audio on every 4.3 update.  I can get broken audio on the latest update (4.3.3) if I crank my receiver up to 50.  Used to get loud audio on my receiver set to 20.
If anyone is actually testing this software using any known software validation principles, it would amaze me.  Someone needs to give me my money back for this black boat anchor.

this support note indirectly suggests it should work with HDCP enabled DVI adapters:

    Specifically, the last section:
    Additional Information
Even if your HDTV supports HDCP, you may still experience HDCP related issues when connecting your Apple TV (2nd generation) to your HDTV if:
You have connected your Apple TV to a HDMI-to-DVI adapter that does not support HDCP
You have connected your Apple TV to your TV using a HDMI cable that does not support HDCP
You have connected your Apple TV to your TV via an AV receiver that does not support HDCP
You have connected your Apple TV to a HDMI hub, switch, scaler, or extender that does not support HDCP
None of that is surprising at all. It's what I meant when I said it would be "unfathomable" to assume DVI wouldn't work when HDCP is supported. It would actually require extreme negligence or malice to create a device where DVI doesn't work, hence "unfathomable".
I don't even know where to buy an HDMI<->DVI adapter or cable that doesn't support HDCP. The straight-through $2 adapters and $5 cables from places like Monoprice.com work perfectly and "support" HDCP. I know this because I've used both. ETA: I put "support" in quotes because it's wrong to emphasize this as some special quality that might be hard to find or expensive. You'd have to actively seek out an adapter or cable that does not "support" HDCP.

  • Has anyone called the Solver dll in Labview?

I have developed a non-linear mathematical model in Excel that uses it's Solver routine. I am currently trying to convert this over into the Labview environment because the equations are more manageable and the front panel interface is more marketable. However, I need the power of the Solver dll.
Frontline Systems (www.solver.com) provides an evaluation version of the dll but I am new to this and I was wondering if anyone has done it and could provide a VI which calls this dll or has any suggestions, please?
I think it would be pretty nifty if Labview could provide this sort of optimisation power. (It's current optimisation routines in the Mathematics toolbox are pretty limited and are not nearly as powerful as Solver)
. But I'm sure a labview guru could configure a simple VI which calls the Solver dll for a multi-dimensional non-linear problems similar to Excel....
    Many thanks in anticipation!!!

    Hello
You might want to consider using a Call Library Function Node. This node supports a large number of data types and calling conventions. You can use it to call functions in most standard and custom-made DLLs and shared libraries.
Refer to the Configuring the Call Library Function Node section of Chapter 2, Shared Libraries (DLLs), of the Using External Code in LabVIEW manual (attached) for more information about using the Call Library Node to call code from text-based programming languages.
    Hope this helps!

  • Has anyone used Apple Maps (on the Mac) for RoadTrip planning?

I would like to use Apple Maps to plan a road trip, but I don't see a way to drop multiple pins for multiple locations.  for example, I'd like to visit South Dakota, specifically, Custer and DeSmet, but I'd also like to visit Devil's Tower in Wyoming, the petrified forest which is close by, some caves, etc.  I would like to be able to set my starting point and drop some pins for points of interest and then figure out what else is around those points of interest (PINs) such as restaurants, hotels, historical sites, etc.  And finally be able to pull all this together so I can figure out the road trip.
Has anybody done this and if so would you be willing to share some tips?

I don't see a way to drop multiple pins for multiple locations
This can't be done with Maps at this time. The best you can do is amass a set of bookmarks that contain a maximum of one starting point and one ending point with no way to organize them beyond the order in which they were created. (A completely fruitless exercise in my experience.)
IMO, you're much better off creating maps with Google Maps, saving those maps, then accessing your saved maps through the Google Maps app (in its settings) on your iOS device or via the Web on a Mac. You can also use the Google Maps app in conjunction with the TripAdvisor app and even the OpenTable app to navigate to places to stay and eat anywhere in the country.
(Don't underestimate the value of paper maps for long road trips like this, either.)

  • Has Anyone Visited Apple Store Before??

I went to apple today cus my push notifications not working. I asked for exchange but the genius said for these kinda problems it's software issue and fixable so they can't exchange it. He tried to fix it but it didn't fix so he ordered me a new replacement. I'm supposed to get a phone call from them when it arrives. Are they gonna say that gonna fix my phone AGAIN or can I just get my replacement? I'm tired of this, at times it works other times it doesn't and I'm worried if they gonna say that again

Yes but I'm afraid what if they said they gonna try to fix this current one again?? They ordered me replacement but what if they say that when I go back? Do u think they will again?

  • Has anyone ask apple to update the hardware for iphone 4s

(keep the size) and make the screen edge to edge?  I love iPhone but I'm tired of carrying big phone in my pocket. iPhone 4/4s is a perfect size.

You can ask.... But don't be too optimistic.

  • Has anyone noticed apple tv is not updating content from itunes?

Also movie list only goes a few letters of the alphabet. i confirm this on three different sets in my area now.

    goofy69 wrote:
    thanks for the reply.
for example all hd only goes to b for listed titles.
They go to c for the selection from the UK store
it used to go all the way to z. etc.
Are you sure, how long ago was that.
What you are seeing is the first 200 movies alphabetically. As the movie selection grows then the list will end nearer the beginning of the alphabet, rather than just showing movies starting with specific letters. It's possible that in the early days, 200 listings would have been sufficient to list all the movies.
Or are you saying it used to list more than 200 movies before.
itunes usually goes to get new movies and tv shows each tuesday. but i think this is a slow week for releases and not related.
i use itunes canada store usually but us store does the same.
By way of example the latest rental available in the UK via itunes was released on August 3, it is not available via the apple tv, the latest purchase available via itunes was released August 31 and it is available via the tv.
I originally assumed you were saying that they had stopped adding movies to itms for apple tv but not for itunes, the purchase example above would suggest this wasn't the case.
Clearly they aren't adding all the movies to itms for the apple tv that they are to itms for itunes, but hasn't this always been the case.
If you are saying that generally new movies have slowed down for both itms for apple tv and itms for itunes, then I'd agree with you. If you are asking if there is anything significant about this in light of the 'it's only Rock n Roll' announcement tomorrow, then I don't know, you'll need to wait and see.

  • I put a case on my iPod touch 5 and now there is no sound coming from the speaker.  The head phones work though.  I called Apple Support and the 2 people I spoke with seemed baffled.  Has this happened to anyone and how do I resolve this?

I put a Griffin case on my daughter's iPod Touch 5 and now there is no sound coming from the speaker.  There is sound when we use the headphones.  Is there a mute function that I may have switched on and if so how do I turn it off?
It was a gift bought by her Godparents in January and I live in the islands so I can't just drive it back to the store to have them look @ it!
Called Apple Support and spoke to 2 people who seemed baffled and who could only suggest I reset the device.  Who h has not helped.
    HELP!!!!!!!

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
    Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less. Google for more.
iPhone Repair, Service & Parts: iPod Touch, iPad, MacBook Pro Screens
    Replace the jack yourself

I've been trying to remember my security questions for ages, and I can't seem to remember them. On my Apple ID I have changed my alternate email address because the previous one was deleted, but when I go on the "Password and Security" page on my Apple ID and there is a link saying "Forgot your answers? Send reset security info email to ************@*******.com" but it is giving me my old email that does not match my current one on my Apple ID and no longer exists. I have been trying for very long to recover my security questions' answers, but Apple is not coping with me.
Has anyone been through this or knows how to help me?
    Thank you.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.

  • Has anyone got an answer from apple on how we can remove someone who had an access to clash of clans via game center and keeps on playing even if you already changed the password?

someone loaded my clash of clans game to his device and kept on playing on it even if i already changed my password in game center, i figured he can still play as long as he doesn't load a new game center account in his device.. anyone has the solution for this??

It won't matter what someone else may have experienced. If the iTunes Store has refused your request, then your only possible recourse at this point is to call Apple Support, ask to speak with someone in Customer Relations, and discuss the issue with them. If you have done so and they have refused to help, or you contact them and they cannot, then there's nothing else you can do as regards getting a solution from Apple. Contact your credit card company and report the charges as fraudulent.
These are technical support forums and discussions about Apple's polices aren't allowed, so that's all we can advise.
    Regards.
