Has anyone else gotten an email supposedly from Apple saying you had missing data and to update? I went to update, gave some info only to see they wanted my credit card info and money. How do I report this and to whom. Impossible to contact Apple.

Has anyone gotten an email saying your system was missing data and to update? I went to update, gave my email and password just to find it wasn't really Apple
but, wanted my credit card and money. Did not follow up. Where and how do I report this to Apple. Seems impossible to contact them.

Forward it to [email protected] and then delete it.

  • HT1918 I am not getting the option "None" as payment. I do not want a credit card on file. How do I get this fixed?

I cannot get the option of "None" to show up under payment methods. Does anyone know why this is or how to fix it?

If you do not want to enter a credit card when you create an account you can use an iTunes Store card to add credit to an account. This is what allows you to have the "None" payment option.

  • I was told by apple support that I have malware on my iMac that is trying to convince me to buy their cleanup software.  I was told it was a scam and my computer is not infected, but they want my credit card info.  How do I remove the malware?

How do I remove malware from my iMac?

you can do a Google search for "anti-virus" and "mac" and see what you come up with. I think Norton now makes a program for mac with anti-trogan and anti-rootkit detection, and hopefully it'll get better with more time and more complaints
As laverne's mom said, Norton's should never be installed on any Mac - period. I would not let it within 10 feet of my machines. It creates so many problems, it should be considered malware.  If you must install AV software, try ClamXAV; it is free. However, there are no viruses for Mac; the current problem is a trojan and if due diligence is observed, there is no problem.

  • Has anyone else been getting emails about reseting password

Has anyone else been getting emails about reseting password when they have not requested it? I have been getting several emails for the past couple of days where it says how to reset when I never asked to do so. Is there anything that should be done about it? Or anything apple can do about it for my email is very different and not easy to guess or duplicate.

  • Received a email from Apple stating that my Apple ID was used for a purchase not on my device. It had a link to cancel purchase but asked for my email and password which I gave then it wanted my credit card info! I didn't give that, what should I do?

Received a email from Apple stating that my Apple ID was used for a purchase not on my device. It had a link to cancel purchase but asked for my email and password which I gave then it wanted my credit card info! I didn't give that, what should I do? Do you think this is just a way to get my credit card information?

It sounds like a phishing email. You can't "cancel" purchases. You've now given them your AppleID and password, so you should immediately change your password to something new and very secure.
Also watch out for suspicicious activity on your account.

  • Has anyone else received an email claiming to be a beta to try out of what is termed "iWorks" through iCould?

Today I received an email claiming to be from Apple.  Below are the contents of the email.  It basically claimed to be offering me a chance to test out a beta version of what it called iWorks on the iCloud.  I just needed to sign in to test it out.  Has anyone else received anything similar?  Has anyone been able to verify its contents?  Or is it a scam?  It allegedly was sent by email address of "[email protected]"  Help?
    Thanks,

    Dear Christina,
We’ll soon be introducing a new and exciting feature to iCloud. It’s called iWork for iCloud and it’s a suite of apps — Pages, Numbers, and Keynote — that make it easy for anyone with an iCloud account to create and edit great-looking documents, spreadsheets, and presentations right on the web.
We’d like to invite you to be one of the first to try it, so we’re giving you early access to the iWork for iCloud beta. All you have to do is sign in to iCloud on a Mac or a PC using the current version of Safari, Chrome, or Internet Explorer. Then just click on Pages, Numbers, or Keynote and you’re off.
We’re really proud of these apps and we’d appreciate your help in making them as great as they can possibly be. So we’d love to hear your feedback as you use them.
Sign in to iCloud.com to get started with iWork for iCloud today.
    Sincerely,
    The iWork Team

Has it been verified with Apple?  Because I just called Apple care, and the technician I spoke to knew nothing about it.  He said he thought it was a scam and recommended I post it here.
    Confused, anyone?  Lol.

  • I keep getting mail from Apple about validating my account and now I need to sanitize my email. Is this a hoax as they want my credit card details

I have been receiving email supposedly from apple asking me to validate my account. I ignored as I thought they were a hoax as they wanted me to verify my CC details. Now I'm getting mail saying I'm transmitting virsus mitting viruses and I need to verify my credit card details.??  Is this real or hoax as it also saying if I don't it will lead to permanent deactivation immediately. HELP

It is absolutely a fake. Do not, I repeat do not, respond to these emails in any way. You can report them to Apple if you wish:
    [email protected]
but there's little or nothing they can do about such scams so it's probably not worth the effort and you can just delete the fakes.
    Regards.

  • HT203167 I paid for an app which seems to be fraudulent.  "Mastering in 24h office 2010". It shows a page in Thai with no links to anything.  How can I report this and be refunded? Any help would be appreciated.

I purchased and paid for an app through iTunes apps and it may be a fraudulent app as it is not doing anything other than show text in what looks like Thai language and has no links.  The software was supposed to be "master in 24 hrs office 2010. ". I am having problems reporting the problem to iTunes Store as the link in the apple invoice is not working.  Has anyone experienced this type of problem?  How can I get the problem software reported and my money refunded?
