Has anyone ever changed an apple id on the iphone

my wife and i have been sharing an apple id and i now want to provide her with her own. since the icloud has been launched any app she downloads i get and vice versa. Has anyone ever switched out an applie id on the iphone before. does it have to be synced with itunes once to make the change happen? If so will i still be able to keep all of the contents ih her phone.

You can share iTunes content within the same household, so if you get your own Apple ID/iTunes account, you can continue to use content obtained using your Wife's account. Any app updates to apps obtained using the wife's Id must be done using that ID. Just authorize the computer for the new Apple ID/iTunes account: Store>Authorize this Computer. You can switch iTunes accounts on the phone by going to: Settings>Store...tap the ID shown...sign out...sign back in with the ID you want to use.

TS4088 Has anyone had luck getting Apple to fix the known GPU issue on mid-2010 MPBs that are 2-3 months out of warranty?

My MBP has started shutting down randomly and seems to be related to this known issue: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088
The problem is, it started happening right around the 3 year mark, when this offer seems to expire. It is around the same time Mountain Lion was installed and seems to have made it worse.
I brought it in to an Apple Store and the diagnostics have told me I need to replace the Logic Board which is almost $600.
It feels super unfair as this is a known issue, and Mountain Lion seems to make this issue much worse. The MBP is now 3 years 3 months, and I brought the MBP in to the Apple store about a month ago.
Anyone?

I had just read about this a few weeks ago, and was also very upset that not only had the coverage expired, but that I was not made aware that this was a known issue. I had been dealing with this issue ever since Lion and it was getting worse. I set up a Genius Bar appointment, and they decided that it was the logic board, and that because it was almost 6 months out of coverage, I would not have to pay the retail $500+, but still have to pay a discounted $310 to get it replaced. They were relatively sympathetic, but couldn't do anything more that to say that I try calling AppleCare, because they would be able to bend the rules more than the Apple Store.
I called right after I left the store. I pleaded with the first guy, staying professional but stressing that it was a little unfair for the reasons listed above. He eventually transferred me to human resources vs. his supervisor, because he said that they may be able to get me farther. I was on the phone on and off of hold for an hour, and they eventually agreed (after some internal research of their own) that it was a known issue large enough to cover the replacement for free. I was setup with a new Genius Bar appointment and got my MacBook Pro back within 2 days of dropping it off. Overall, it was a time-consuming process, but definitely worth the effort.
Now I am dealing with similar glitches, leading me to believe that the new logic board is having the same issues as the old one, but luckily it is under a 90 day warranty so I will take it back and see what they decide to do.

Has anyone seen a Blue Apple logo on the grey startup screen?

This morning I received a pop-up message on our Mac Mini that said we had to restart it by holding down the power button. The machine seemed locked, the mouse was gone, Command, Option, Esc would not work, etc. Not having any other option, I held down the power button and shut it down. After it was completely shut down, I pressed the power button again to restart it and that is when the normal grey screen appeared but the Apple logo in the middle of the screen was blue instead of the normal grey. Has anyone else seen this scenario? I'm concerned that it is an April Fools virus but have no way to diagnose it. Some details about our machine below:

Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

Has anyone ever heard of hearing aids in the same bag as an ipad causing the iPad to reset?

We have one user who's iPad keeps resetting itself and deleting all user setting and data. This has happened several times, we have even traded out the iPad for a different one, same issue. Apparently it is working when they put it into the case, but several times now when they take it out, it has been reset and is looking for the itunes connection and to be setup again. We have asked about possible outside interference, magnets, etc. The only thing that was mentioned today was that this user wears hearing aids and that they often put them in the same bag as the iPad after a meeting. I know this is grasping at straws, but has anyone heard of this casuing any problems before?

There are a few ways to remotely wipe an iDevice. One of them is if it is connected to MS Exchange. (Administrators can wipe the device and you can do it through webmail) Maybe something bizzare is happening with that.

Had someone from 'apple customer support' just call my house saying that there is a problem with my computer because there has been a lot of activity on it and asked me to turn it on so he could help me fix it.

I've read of some knowledgable users being able to string these scammers, who are probably mostly low-rent phone dialers with a script to follow, along for ten or fifteen minutes by asking all sorts of naive questions. Has anyone ever changed NIC/MAC address on DBFW

Hi!
We have database firewall machine in a blade frame that has connections to our network. We would like to move our machine to another bladeframe that has other connections with our network. So MAC address/NIC has been changed.
We have tried change the MAC/NIC on OS level, but after restart all settings has been reseted and the original were used again.
Please, advice!

Try setting the new MAC address in the NIC_MAPPING part of /usr/local/dbfw/etc/dbfw.conf
You should then reboot using:
/usr/local/dbfw/bin/os_manager execute_script reconfig_cw.sh

Has anyone ever gotten an IBM FRU where the tray number doesn't match drive FRU?

I ordered an IBM FRU 42D0638 and received an IBM FRU 42D0648 in a tray for the 42D0638. I have been searching all afternoon and have found online that there are conflicting posts about performance differences (mainly cache and seek time) but they have been from Ebay postings or other questionable sources. I'm using the drive for my IBM System x3550 M2 server. Anyone run into this before and have any advice or thoughts?

We’ve given them thousands of dollars. Aside from the current empty Touch, there was another for my son, an iPod classic, a Nano, and most recently, a Mini with WiFi, also my son’s. They've worked great, with barely an exception. Plus more songs and apps than I could count. I feel like we’ve been good customers. But it seems like it’s a one-way street with these automatons. So I'm trying to see if anyone's ever gotten any thing back. Thanks.

Has anyone used an Otterbox Commuter Case for the iphone 4s on an iphone 4?

I want to get a new case for my iphone 4 and have previously had an Otterbox Commuter Case which I loved due to it's dust covers for the headphone and charger sockets. I much prefer the look of the new commuter case for the 4s around the camera and flash over the one for the 4 and was wondering whether anyone had put their 4 into the 4s case?
If so, is it ok?
Is there another similar case that has the plugs for the sockets that I'm not aware of?

You can put your iPhone 4 in a 4S case and it will work just fine. You shouldn't put a 4S in a 4 case (like the Otter Commuter) since the camera sensors are different.

Settings>iCloud...turn everything off here, including Find My Phone. For Contacts, Calendars, Notes, etc. you'll be prompted to keep the data on the phone, or delete it. Select keep. Then, turn off iMessage & FaceTime. Then, delete the iCloud account...Settings>iCloud...scroll down...delete account. Now, set everything back up using your new ID, then turn both iMessage & FaceTime back on, after you've setup the iCloud account.

Has anyone ever noticed that random function on the iphone is not so random? I have this feeling that everytime I skip or go back it resets the random cycle and maybe 20 songs later the songs I heard maybe 2 hours are playing again.
Like itunes is there a way to make it more random?

I am using smart playlists and it does the same thing. It will still eventually repeat. The only time I get true random is when I play in alpanumerical order. The problem with that, I listen to music 14 hours a day 5 days week. Gets pretty predictible what song is coming up. My ipod did a better job at random but I used it so much that when in Random Mode it drains the battery faster and gets annoying charging it every 4 hours.

Double-tap the screen with three fingers, then go to Settings and disable the Zoom function so you don't accidentally trigger it again.
